They were looking for every reason for Merritt Lingard disappearance. The men she spurned, the people she put away into jail, the people she tried to put away into jail. The overarching question of it all was: who did Merritt Lingard, the "blunt weapon", "rueful" woman, and "cunt" as her own dad called her, piss off enough to deserve being kidnapped and/or murdered. She internalized it as well, having written all the names of the people she might have done wrong in her life on the walls of her own prison for four years to answer the question of "why are you here?". Merritt Lingard was going to resign herself to death because she believed this must be the reckoning for the life she's lived. But it turns out, the answer to this mystery was not divine reckoning for something Meritt had done, and even if it was, it's not something she would have deserved. It was because of something she had no control over, the actions of a family completely unrelated to her and a sordid history of abuse in that family she had nothing to do with. She didnt deserve it. She was just the sin eater for the bad decisions of every person around her. No wonder the show starts with Merritt (unsuccessfully) attempting to put a powerful man who murdered his wife in jail, the whole story is a repudiation of the logic of abusers: "even if I did it, you deserved it anyways".
#oooohh yes. it sucks so bad that she suffered for 4 years and it was NOT BECAUSE OF ANYTHING SHE'D DONE#dept q#merritt lingard

Sounding provincial is something to be ashamed of and needs to be hidden for some people too, and I guess it's the same for Titania.
Her transformation was actually a transformation too imo, idk what op was expecting; warts, whipping tails, and green puss maybe
Nuala's "transformation" was like those films where the "tomboy" girl takes off her glasses and puts her hair down and all of a sudden is a different person lol

Sandman who, Morpheus who?? Calliope's ex husband who? All I know is Grumpy Burberry model walking down the runway towards another realm
#idk if Burberry makes clothes or what. i just really like his getup here. and 80% of this show is morpheus strutting around#sandman#the sandman 2#tom sturridge#kirby howell baptiste

My pupils dilating watching s2 and it's these two :

SIBLINGSSSSS 🥺

Dream's smirk when Delirium said this. "Yeah yeah I'm too busy to deal with other people. I have my librarian and my dragon thingy"-
#it was the same with Death too in s1 but i can relate more to Delirium since I'm the youngest too lol#dream the sandman#the sandman#the sandman 2#delirium sandman#esme creed miles#tom sturridge

Yeah i love her

There's something about Delirium's voice that's kind of singsongy it kinda scratches an itch in my brain

It's sweet how she put her foot down with Destiny when she saw Dream became sad again
I kept seeing the ss of Dream coaxing her, and look!

Am i so love starved that seeing these two being supportive siblings made me happy dunno, I'll be getting back to that
It's the middle child-youngest child thing.

Typical things to do in one's freetime. Chicken and telephone ice cream
Also, when someone is slightly off-kilter from time to time, it's easy for them to realize when they've made a mistake or been wrong about a thing they've been thinking or of a situation, which is also not something that most people who are normal can do very well. I appreciate that in Delirium
Youngest child syndrome btw, we sometimes just miss people, and things, and places of the old days, and I relate to that, lol
Delirium is like the way Death said she is , she doesn't always see the world in the same way other people do, and that's how she's able to not bear a grudge for Destruction, and instead wonders if maybe he's changed his mind and is embarrassed to return, a refreshing take

She's so sweet. No wonder she was Delight initially. Barnabas becoming her doggy so she won't be lonely anymore 🥺🥺🥺
She should probably get a wyvern and talking raven too, if it doesn't get in the way of being Delirium heh

#I hope she gets screentime. And story in vol2#delirium sandman#dream sandman#the sandman 2#sandman#esme creed miles#tom sturridge
