Okay so the update like just came out and I haven't finished the story yet but I need to talk about something lmao
There aren't any plot spoilers, but I do show the other 3 Legends'(?) designs
Although they're also shown in a loading screen, but I'll put it under a cut to be safe lol
I didn't get a screenshot of it but ??? is Cloud Deity Cookie
I could be wrong because I don't know a huge amount about other Asian cultures, but I'm pretty sure these four are based on the Auspicious Beasts from Chinese culture
I don't know the full legend, but they're four celestial beasts that represent different elements, directions, and seasons
The four beasts are the White Tiger (metal), Black Tortoise (water), Azure Dragon (wood), and Vermillion Bird (fire)
Now, obviously the colors and elements don't align but design wise I think the beasts do
Stormbringer has buns on her head that look similar to ears that could be tiger ears and she also has stripes all over her and a little tooth
Cloud Deity has pauldrons that kind of look like tortoise shells and they have that cloud bag that's reminiscent of a shell on the back, although that one's a bit of a stretch
Wind Deity obviously has very bird-like aspects like wings for arms/wing looking sleeves, a feather in her hair and a feathered fan
Rain Deity is significantly less obvious and arguably doesn't have any dragon-like features, but their hair and/or dress could be reminiscent of an Eastern dragon and their color palette is blue which aligns with the Azure Dragon
This theory doesn't add anything to anything and is purely just me analyzing their designs lmao
BTW out of curiosity do you have any headcannons about Sugar Swan like how she was created and stuff?
Origin headcanons and just in general are harder for me personally because a backstory is super important in explaining why a character is who they are and I want them to make sense, so I haven't really thought of any about Sugar Swan yet
Sea Fairy, Moonlight, Fire Spirit, and Wind Archer are the only Legends I've really made a headcanon idea on their origins and backstories (typical lol), but they're far from polished
Is stardust ganna be mentioned or in any of the moonlight projects your working on?
I mean, there's a chance he might be mentioned or heavily implied in a bigger project I have in mind that involves Moonlight, but Cookies like Stardust that are associated with the Legends through being family/interacted with them directly likely won't appear much here
Asks with them they'll appear in, but from my own ideas it's less likely
The lore is so confusing to the point where we need to become Cookie run Matpat,Also I feel the beast cookies sort of appeared out of thin air, because of they were such a big deal maybe they could have been mentioned before somehow? Maybe give a few hints when we fight dark enchantress in her castle in Vanillas story,or when Pure Vanillas soul jam is speaking to him because its confirmed that's shadow milk in disguise, its like they just got a new idea and ran with it lmao
RIGHT!!
That's kind of what I was thinking
Like, while I'm sure they have plans for the Beast Cookies and maybe they really have been there under our noses the whole time, it does feel a little bit to me like an "all the Ancients are released but we need more powerful Cookies and content"
Obviously I'm biased because this blogs' existence relies on the Legendaries being my favorites, but it also felt a little bit like undermining the Legends' existence because I thought they were implying they were the guardians of the Cookie world
Like I'll admit I do like counterparts and I think their designs (so far) are interesting and I like how the Beasts' soul jams are like the Ancients but flipped upside down, but at least to me the way they introduced them seemed pretty random
But we'll just have to wait and see what they do with them lol
Of course I wanna see the Legends be added some day but I also wanna know what it adds to the Cookie Run lore in general, especially since their creation and the witches are one of the most confusing things about the lore
Game-wise, I also think it looks pretty cute and it would be nice to have another "low-stakes" Cookie Run game like Puzzle World (Ovenbreak you need to be precise about your jumps and slides and some skills, Kingdom you need to know the right Cookies, toppings, treasures, etc. for like everything in the game) where you kind of just tap to make stuff happen lol
Like I'm not saying there's no strategy or thinking in games like that, but sometimes OB and Kingdom are really stressful for me personally so it's nice to have a more chill (looking) CR game lmao
