[💀] - Oh, I 100% get the criticisms, but I also adore Krakoa. I just think it was such a good concept, and they were exploring some cool stuff. I also think David should have been more in the Council's face for some of their bullshit. Especially that bit about throwing kids in The Pit. Like, that was false imprisonment and power overreach, and his social issues fighting ass should have been on that like flies on a dog shit.

Plus, more him just teleporting into the Quiet Council chamber and being like, "This is all fucked up. You know this is fucked up right?"

   David’s fingers push his hair back; his gaze locked on the corpses. He sucks a shaky breath in through his teeth and as his ears start ringing with the panic, he’s vaguely aware of Gambit trying to calm him down. Another sharp breath pulled into his lungs, and he crouches. Hands slide out of his hair, the black locks once again flowing upwards in their usual gravity defying state. He grips the back of his neck, nails digging a little too hard into skin. He curls in on himself, but he does breathe into his knees.

   The awful thing is he doesn’t actually care that he’s killed these men. They’re racist dipshits that have kidnapped and experimented on children. They deserve death. They deserve worse than death and much of David regrets not taking longer to end their pathetic lives. But that’s not the thought process his father would want to hear. No, what Charles Xavier wants is a son with control and restraint. A son that isn’t an overpowered mad man.

   Sorry dad. All y’ got is me, slips in a thought and with it the knowledge of what the consequences of this will be. Fuck! He’s gonna put me in a coma again.

   Fear slips into his panic but it’s not his own. Nor is it Gambit’s. It’s coming from a cellar about a mile to the west. The children. David stiffens, eyes staring straight again.

   “Pull it together Davey,” he mutters to himself. “There are scared little ‘uns in need o’ help.”

   David unwinds from his crouch and stands. His hands drop to his sides, both curled into fists to hide the shaking. The panic is still there, on the peripheral of his mind but he’ll hold it back. He really fucking hopes he can hold it back. Panic means disassociation and further damage. Not something he wants happening. Not with kids nearby. Heterochromic eyes lock on Gambit and then move to the vent he indicates. A path forwards that doesn’t involve more soldiers.

   “Y-yeah, sorta,” he responds. Might not be a good time to explain how often his mental projection crawls into the vents and hidden ducts of his brain. Which is exactly what it’s doing right now. Running from the clamouring alters and attempting to muffle their wants. “Kinda find small spaces oddly soothin’.” Once again, his piecing one blue, one green eyes meet Gambit’s black and ruby ones. “I’m givin’ y’ permission to put an explosive playin’ card in my mouth if it looks like I’m not runnin’ the show anymore. Understand?”

   A contingency. Always good.

That's what he gets for running his devil-damned mouth. Especially around people that make a category 5 hurricane feel like a walk in the motherfucking park.

David. Charlie's son. A real tough nut to crack. And apparently tougher than those guards' skulls. Gambit winces, black&ruby eyes scanning the area for any more threats...outside of the person who laid waste to twelve people as easy as blinking.

We don't kill humans.

Sorry, Charlie-boy. Sometimes the end has to justify the means. What's twelve against a veritable ocean of red---names, faces, screams---that Remy has to live with every single day of his life?

He whips around as he hears David's wail. Fuck. Now is not the time. But there's nobody here but Gambit. Silver-tongue king of thieves with a side hustle of trying to play hero. Goddammit, what he would give for anybody else here. Hell, he'd even take Scott's reprimanding ass. He approaches gingerly, both hands splayed out in front of him. Not that it's much of a peaceful gesture for a man who can make anything within reach a weapon of mass destruction--but it's the thought that counts.

Mostly.

Speaking of thoughts, he calms his down. His natural telepathic repellent ain't going to be as effective against somebody like David's caliber, so he's got to keep himself Swiss neutral. Hole-y like Swiss fucking Cheese. ❛ I get it. Y'didn't mean t'. It happens. An' it sucks. Take a coupla' deep breaths, hein? Breathe wit' Gambit. In---out. C'mon now. ❜ The threat's gone for now, but Remy's not a fool. Reinforcements are on their way. And if they're going to make it out without another major crisis, they need to get their asses in high gear.
