“i wouldn’t! jesus,” non-defensive, smiling and charmed, and more than a little bit flattered by trevor’s view of him. milo has seen a lot of good, but a lot of dreck, too. often he enjoys the latter more than the former.
“i think it’s, like—” it does feel as though it needs leveling: like trevor has set himself down a few rungs by mistake. “you know, it’s a vulnerable thing. it’d be your thing. but even if that’s kind of—” ducking his head, swirling his hand, fishing for the words. “—ugly, by a certain standard, or after whatever they do to it. i don’t know. it means something. i wouldn’t pick it apart like it was anything else.”
trevor doesn't think of himself as particularly funny or clever: when milo laughs it feels good—for a millisecond—then confusing, then turned on himself like an accusatory finger, then back to good. then it's a mess he doesn't know how to get out of.
"you know so much about the art of film. and i—" don't. "you'd just call my bullshit."

there remain two-thirds of a frittte-brand energy bar in kim’s pocket, its crinkling top neatly folded back over to preserve freshness.
it tastes of the packaging. he’d regretted on first bite not splashing out on a snack under a bigger name, bearing a flashier logo, backed by a wider—if oppressive—campaign.
he lowers it into harry’s line of sight without explanation. dangling. take it.
the city fades out of view. now it's just this, the street.
PERCEPTION: it is going a bit shimmery, around the edges.
"no. why?"

i have an old one i never finished delivering on, but seeing as blogs and tastes have changed, here's a brand new starter call for you.
let me know in the comments if you'd like someone specific. all muses are here. and to clarify, "by request" doesn't mean i want to write them less—they're just out of or new to my recent rotation. i want you to request them.
or! spin the muse wheel

it’s easy to make milo laugh because it is an easy defense mechanism. most of the people around him on a regular basis are funny, or clever, or trying to be funny or clever, so even if he’s a step behind the conversation, it tends to be a safe bet. laugh a little, they’ll feel good.
less often does he have it startled out of him. the kind of “ha!” that has to be acted on.
“what?” why not? “you think i’d judge it that harshly?”
@legioun milo
he feels like a shitty spy. your mission, should you choose to accept it: a dinner date this time, rather than the usual coffee with its semi-regular accoutrements. the only thing he's lacking is eye-holes cut into his book. he did bring one. open on the table, one hand keeping the pages spread, the other on a glass of wine. white.
"if i did write the movie, i could never let you watch it."

VOLITION: this thread will always fray or knot. you don’t want to pull it.
how much time spent unmoving before he can check his watch again, before he can begin tapping his foot? it keeps on without them. he’s beginning to feel stretched between past and present.
“have you eaten?”
SHIVERS: right now there are babies being born, naked and ugly, their hands clenched in pink fists. the lights of the hospital rooms will be made to simulate the harsh luminosity of the real world, but they will not be prepared.
SHIVERS: the lights make it seem beautiful. but this is heartbreak. there is no way to stop it.
there is a lonely streetlamp overhead, casting a cone on the ground. he's stuck in the middle of it like a room. the city rises in the distance.
"kim, what are we trying to save?"

@bluedprints. for harry.
VOLTA DO MAR: salvage a wasted day. course-correct before it has ended. tomorrow you will thank yourself.
EMPATHY: he is spiraling.
VOLTA DO MAR: when isn’t this true?
“detective.” he’s tight in every muscle, observing harry on the verge of what may be unconsciousness, ready to lurch into action or sprint toward the consequence of an epiphany. in the early stages, the effects on harry’s facial expression seem to be similar. “you have not moved for ninety seconds.”

she can see she’s standing between inviting harm to him and inviting harm to herself. not that he’s prone to that kind of lashing out, but loss like this can turn anyone animal.
arti knows that this button can only be pushed so many times before it triggers a different result. what she doesn’t know is whether it hurts control more to leave the pattern unbroken.
“can i take you for lunch?”
must have been this, right? must have been that.
something james wanted them to add to the menu. something chocolate hazelnut. pecans?
he picks the container down, takes it under his arm. "i'll get this done first."

was.
wouldn’t say it. doesn’t think he minds tonight. but was quiet, technically speaking, until she chose dialogue over idling silently as saul would have been content to do.
“it bothers some.”
@legioun 𖦹
she thinks it's too dark to see his face. his tea is still too hot to drink.
"it's quiet out here."

she knows she’s ill-equipped to handle this. who wouldn’t be?
‘ have you thought about lying down in the office? ’ they’ve all suggested it at one point or another, she’s sure. he probably doesn’t want to hear it again. but somehow, in here, he looks worse.
‘ we can manage for an hour or two. you should—you know—? ’ sleep, obviously. ‘ he’d insist on it. ’
he's standing face-to-face with some plastic containers of chocolate sauce. eyes boring their way through the shelf.
"i'm." forgetting what i came in here for. "sure."

does she? does he? can she treat him like a ghost, inaudible, invisible, and retreat with a shiver only?
‘ i’m. fine. i don’t. um. ’ know why i’m here. ‘ are you? ’
@legioun 𖦹
one of them is in the walk-in.
"do you want to talk about it?"

some position to take. not minding rocks.
‘ wasn’t my question. ’ it sounds like it should have ‘and you know it’ tacked on, but with whitby he can’t know if he knows it. logic and linguistics seem to roll off him like water on polyester. ‘ don’t actually think i mentioned rocks. ’
@legioun 𖦹
wiping his hands meticulously on a hand towel, like he's removing fingerprints,
"i'm not a geologist, but i don't mind rocks. most of the time i just like the texture."
