Comic Con Masquerade Contest: Natalie Lucia 

Costume Name: Yennefer of Vengerberg 

Costume Description: This costume is worn by Yennefer in season 2 of “The Witcher.” The costume consists of an underdress made of black jacquard. It has a fitted bodice and front placket panel with button closures on either side. I drafted the dress from scratch. 

The coat is made of taffeta, Chinese brocade & satin. The coat was drafted by me to match references. It consists of a black, satin underskirt that is lined with a matte purple satin. The overskirt is made with Chinese brocade and gathered to form split panels. The upper part of the coat has lace detail appliqué that I carefully cut out with a wood burning tool and hand stitched to the jacket. It closes in front with two frog clasps. The outfit is set off with Yennefer’s signature leather choker and pendant. This costume took over 50 hours to make and contains over 20 yards of fabric.

Bio: Natalie is an avid costumer who enjoys learning new skills with every costume she makes. She has made costumes from fandoms such as Jurassic Park, Shadow and Bone, Star Wars, Marvel and DC. In the real world, Natalie teaches music to students of all ages.

Comic Con Masquerade Contest: Natalie Lucia

Costume Name: Padme Amidala Skywalker

Costume Description:  The costume consists of a velvet cloak made of 7 yards of velvet and lined with an additional 7 yards of satin. The cloak was hand painted over several days with alternating colors of teal, blue, silver and white. After painting, 2,000 sequins were attached by hand to the entire cloak. The collar was made with a velvet base and has 1,700 sequins hand sewed to it and then fitted to the cloak.The collar has 6 sequined streamers that were also hand sewn and attached to fall to the floor. The under dress is made of chiffon and was hand dyed to simulate the water and then smocked down to the bodice. Matching gems were also added to the neckline. 

The flats have over 800 sequins hand sewn to netting and then attached to the base flat and show the Naboo symbol in white. The jappor snippet is a 3D print that was then hand painted and strung on a delicate silver chain and the wig was styled with flowers, ribbons and leaves that I curled and hand painted and then attached. The entire costume took over 79 hours to complete and was entirely made by me.

Bio: Natalie is an avid costumer who enjoys learning new skills with each piece she creates. She enjoys recreating looks from fandoms such as Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Game of Thrones, The Mummy, Lord of the Rings, The Handmaid’s Tale & Labyrinth. In addition to costume creation, she is a musician who teaches music to students of all ages.
