The thing I keep coming back to, with all the *gestures expansively* is that real life doesn't have peaceful epilogues.

Every single win has to be defended. Forever. I'm sorry. It sucks. The Nazis lost until they stopped losing. The US had abortion rights, and then 50 years later it didn't. Empires fall, and then they invade other countries again. Oppressive regimes are overthrown and replaced with other oppressive regimes. You will never finish the work etc etc etc. Which is why it's so fucking important to be able to acknowledge and celebrate progress, when it happens. The people who came before you didn't put in all that work for nothing, and you aren't, either. You can't save it all for the Ultimate Victory because there is never going to be an Ultimate Victory. There's no such thing as a time when everything is good, and ours shall not be the commune of Heaven.

Prediction for the future of Roshar:

Jasnah, realizing that her whole family got *problems* and shouldn't be running anything bigger than a dollar general decides to abolish the monarchy and establish a democracy.

Kaladin becomes the favorite front runner candidate for president. He does not want this. He is not actively campaigning. Adolin and Shallan are making and putting up flyers supporting him without his knowledge. They have slogans like "Face the uncertain future with STORMFACE", and "The High Marshal is My Marshal!".

Wit appoints himself as Kaladin's campaign manager. He spends all day pointedly avoiding doing this job.

To his dismay, Kaladin wins in a landslide. His inauguration speech, which he did not plan beforehand, goes down as one of the most inspiring speeches ever. He was just trying to insult some lighteyes.

His first act as president is to institute a national soup day. He never attends.

I’m curious do people not realize that the reason the Elokhar was so ill prepared and bad at being king isn’t just because he was immature, but because his father never bothered to prepare him for the role as Gavilar has no plans to ever give up power. Gavilar was intending on causing the apocalypse so that he could be immortal and reign eternally.

you have GOT to remember when watching the new doctor who that the question is not is this good. doctor who is only ever actually 'good' once a season at most. THE ONLY QUESTION IS is it fun, camp, and has aliens. also remember the worst doctor who showrunner is always the current doctor who showrunner. now go watch the new episodes as god intended like you're ten years old and still remember how to experience joy and whimsy.
