Scans from Auto-Hebdo issue 325, from July 8th, 1982, about the 1982 Dutch Grand Prix. For once, the cover is related and I really like the photo on the index page, so I've also scanned and included those. Aside from this, it's your usual race report fair: photos, results, and an interview from Patrick Tambay who was debuting for Ferrari that weekend. Ia ctually don't remember if I scanned the whole thing or just what interested me.
Btw, the title on the cover translates to "Pironi in Finals?" (a title that has perfectly aged and does not cause me psychic damage whatsoever) and the one for the actual race report to "Pironi Salvages the Marseillaise", because this is quite infamously the race where René Arnoux got into a massive crash and fortunately got out of it unscathed. Considering what season we're dealing with here, yes, it was something to rejoice about.
"But Fly, it's not the Zandvoort GP weekend yet. In fact, it is the summer break. Why are you posting the 1982 Dutch GP scans?" well, there's an explanation, but it's quite carried away from these scans.
That's because I've been thinking of how modern F1 shows their "last race winners" for Zandvoort. You know, this window that shows you the last five winners for a race/circuit? Most of them aren't very noteworthy, but Zandvoort is the exception to that rule.
I realized that last year, before the absolute snoozefest the race itsel was, when after three Verstappens the names "Lauda" and "Prost" showed up. Remembering some absolutely niche-ass trivia from my hours scouring StatsF1, I had to check the year the Dutch GP came back on the calendar: 2021. And sure enough, it did not miss:

Listen. There are few things I want to see more than a fan who discovered F1 through DTS in 2018-2020, watching this race and having to wonder what some of these names are. To quote myself: you really expect very modern fans to know what an Arnoux or Pironi is?
I dunno. I find the juxtaposition of the very modern UI of 2021 with names who retired in the 80s to be hilarious. That's probably just me tho.

What are they cooking??
Season 1 of Senna vs Prost was originally scheduled for release around July 2025, but due to unexpected delays, the exact release date has yet to be confirmed.
The good news is that Senna vs Prost is still in active production, and an exciting announcement is expected in the near future.

I'm posting this entirely for archival's sake and not because I find it fun. This is a report from Sport-Auto issue 244, published in May 1982, and it details the infamous 1982 San Marino Grand Prix.
You don't need me to run you through it. FOCA boycott, like 4 teams show up, Renault and Ferrari make the show, Renault sucks at reliability, Ferrari 1-2, and whatever the fuck tjhat was between both Ferrari drivers. Don't call it a treason in my vicinity if you don't want me at my worse.
So, why is your amateur archivist who loves posting he finds fun to yap about posting this? Because I'm... honestly tired of most Imola 82 takes lol. So, instead, I'm sharing one from a country that's often glanced over for some reason (France??? I know we're not liked but c'mon, if I have to listen to even one more British reporter yapping about with the least objective take possible I WILL pull out the old French mag as means of self-defence), and one from way back when it had just freshly happened. I dunno, I feel like we very rarely actually pay attention to reports from the race itself, from people who watched it and witnessed it.
Ironically, for a race so known about "the betrayal", the article is mostly about the FOCA-FISA conflict side of it and the boycott. Sometimes, you might be forgiven for forgetting this happened in the same exact race weekend.
Featuring a picture of the infamous SLOW panels! You know the ones. God do you know the ones if you're around here.

Mods are watcing the Belgian GP, post early 1982 French man in blue race overalls in a Ferrari (somewhat).
An interview from Auto-Hebdo issue 301, published in January of 1982, right before the Kyalami drivers' strike. But then, what can "Mr President Revendicate"? Well, they do ask Didier about what it's like to be president of the GPDA. Oh and a bit of other stuff, like this relationship to his teammate, his reaction to Patrick Tambay fucking off from F1 and Ligier apparently missing his former driver. Fun, quick read!
...
also there's a quote about the French death penalty in there. yes, specifically the French death penalty.
I still don't... really get what Didier was trying to say by comparing Bernie Ecclestone's role in FOCA with François Mitterand, then French president, abolishing the death penalty in 1981. I think he says that's a good thing? The death penalty thing, I mean. I think he's trying to say a competent leader elected with trust takes the right decisions for everyone, and while French people were in majority for the death penalty, abolishing it was actually the right decision. WHY AM I TALKING ABOUT THE FRENCH DEATH PENALTY IN MY DIDIER PIRONI TUMBLR POST
Whatever. That front photo fucks and that's all that matters probably.

okay highkey pissed at spa's insta because they made a post for "women of the paddock" and it was literally wags and celebrities and shit. the caption was "glamour. grit. drive. meet the women at the #spagp paddock."
this is how wag culture actually makes things so much worse for the women who are actually putting the hard work in to make real contributions to the sport. it's so disrespectful to the women who actually had to break down barriers in the sport. wags/celebs are NOT women in f1. they are women at f1. the true women in f1 are working hard to help to the sport. they could've talked about laura mueller, hannah schmitz, susie wolff, f1a (but they're not competing this week so maybe not), amelia lewis, the female mechanics in many teams, and so much more women that have truly helped the sport, not just wags who gain traction via association.
spa got a lot of complaints on their insta (RIGHTFULLY SO) and took down the posts, allegedly apologizing to a gossip page (i think it was a gossip page?) on insta.
this just pisses me off because wag culture has been taking over sports, and especially in f1, women have had a harder time getting recognition in such a male-dominated field and subject to stereotypes (grid girls, saying laura mueller is hooking up w esteban, disgusting things like that). as a girl aspiring to become an f1 engineer, it's so frustrating and disheartening. and you're telling me that some models somehow outweigh/outshine the women putting in the work?
