Okaaay so I know I kinda up and disappeared again, and I haven’t updated in a looooong time. So quick tl;dr: I’m doing okay, and Sun and Rain hasn’t been abandoned. Scotland and N.Ireland will continue to be be written as I’ve been writing them, opposite to canon. For the full details continue reading.

So you may have noticed I stopped updating rather suddenly. The short of it was I was having a temper tantrum…against Romano (Italy as a whole but, eh)…yeah. Eurovision, the football Euros…It was a tough time for me as an idiotic patriot of my country, and I needed to sulk for a while.  Following my sulk a lot of upheavals happened in my life and I had to focus on getting them sorted out. In the autumn/winter of 2021 a large chunk of the UK lost power thanks to a storm and we were left with no heating, hot water or electricity for around a week. I got pneumonia and then covid. I had to leave my house and move back in with my family, give up my “farm”, my cat died and I grieved badly for months, my brother has been unwell. Needless to say Sun and Rain was not my main priority. It was a rough time, but things are getting there now. 

In that time we’ve had a lot of new characters added to the series and existing characters have been getting fleshed out more. I’ve been writing a lot of shorts, researching and experimenting with how I approach these characters in my stories, and I’ve forgiven Romano, and still love him..mostly. A warning for anyone who hasn’t been keeping up to date with the manga chapters: there will be potential spoilers below so be warned. Characters of the most note to me are obviously the UK bros and Ireland. I’m so excited to see them, but I’m going to be honest here. I think Ireland seems way too dumbed down, but it’s early days yet. As for N.Ireland I personally think that he and Scotland’s character’s are backwards, so in my stories they will continue to be as I’ve written them; Scotland will be the floofy redhead and N.Ireland will be the stoic brunette, sorry if this causes confusion. Wales, I love. That’s basically it for now. I can’t say when exactly Sun and Rain will be updated yet, but I am working on it!  Sorry for causing any worry. I’ll try to keep you informed more frequently!  Okay, bye!

I am alive...Just

Firstly I want to really apologise for disappearing for so long without a word. I didn’t mean to scare anyone. A lot has happened, but the short of it is that I am alive and I am continuing With Sun and Rain.

For anyone who wants to knoW; back in the winter of 2019 I got an infection. I didn’t know it, and it was basically just incubating for an entire year later until I eventually felt so bad I went to the doctor.

I was having tests left and right that said I had an infection. I was on so many courses of antibiotics I eventually got sick from them which made me even worse, but the infection wasn’t going anywhere. My liver started playing up because of the amount of antibiotics and then I had a seizure. Came round from that, took a while but I felt better.

Then I got worse and ended up in hospital, due to the pandemic they didn’t want to keep me in too long so for two weeks I was in and out of hospital every couple of days until I had another seizure and almost died. If my mum hadn’t been there I would have, and I ended up back in hospital again.

I was seriously depressed from having been sick so long and the fact I’d almost died really, really freaked me out. I didn’t want to go anywhere, see anyone or even get out of bed, I was exhausted I just wanted to shrivel up and disappear. A lot of the depression came from the fact my body was so physically exhausted it couldn’t really heal itself anymore. 

By the beginning of this year I was starting to feel physically better, and over time I’ve been feeling mentally better too, so I’m back now. Just wanted to apologise for scaring everyone. I just really wasn’t in a good space and wasn’t feeling up to talking to anyone, so again. I’m sorry!

What are some of the things you are working on slowly?

A bit of this, a bit of that, and everything between. Got a lotta SpUK, some PortEng, some Rome family fluff, very incomplete requests oneshots, magical antics of the fae kind, and some AUs and various crossovers. I think that’s everything...There may also be a Sun and Rain sequel in the works too, but...Eh...We’ll see.

What is the next thing you will post?

Sorry for the belated reply, I’ve been rather busy lately.

As for what I’m going to post next; honestly I’m not really sure. I’m working on quite a few things from requests and one shots to full stories of various themes and settings. I’m struggling to decide on what to focus on. 

I wonder what kind of story people would be interested in reading? Hmmm...Give me some suggestions? XD

How are things going? What are you currently working on?

Things are going alright, thank you for asking! How are you, mysterious anon?

I’m currently working on Sun and Rain ( as ever), but I’ve also got some one shots and things from the request story that got deleted going on in the background too. The request story will be back up once I’ve completed the one shots to post with it. So, hopefully it won’t get flagged the next time.

You may have noticed my request fic is gone. Again. After a lot of confusion on my part, but a very helpful person on the AO3 abuse team It turns out request fics are only allowed if they contain an actual work (oneshot or ongoing story) at the time of posting.

As mine didn’t, it broke the ToS, and had to be removed. Now I know. I will repost it again when I have a finished oneshot to post with it. For those of you who had made requests never fear I did see them. and I’ll get to writing them for you soon.

Also, Sun and Rain has finally been updated! Yay

What is the next thing we can expect from you?

I’m working on a lot of different Hetalia stories. I have no idea what will come after Sun and Rain.

No word back yet I’m afraid. I may have to try and repost the story, and hope it stays up this time. 

Update: So, it’s been two weeks, and with absolutely no word from AO3 (not even an automated message to say my email is being looked at),  I am just going to attempt to repost the story.

So, here’s hoping it stays up this time round!

A quick update

I think I have figured out why my request story was hidden. Upon scouring the TOS I found a tiny snippet of text that says that if multiple similar posts are made it will be considered spam. 

When I uploaded the story my internet bugged out, and double posted the story. Subsequently I deleted one, but I think that’s possibly what set off the auto-spam filter. 

Doesn’t get it unhidden any faster, but I think that’s what happened. I’ve sent an email, so now just have to wait and see what happens.

You are a good writer, what can we expect form you next?

I recently opened a request story where readers can request oneshots. It’ll give me a chance to explore writing other characters/pairings/situations unlikely to appear in “Sun and Rain”. However, after I posted AO3′s automated spam bot immediately flagged it as spam, and it’s currently hidden. 

I’m going to give it a couple of days, but if it isn’t resolved soon I will contact them to find out why it’s been flagged, so hopefully it will be back up soon!

Hello! I'm a big fan of your fanfic "sun and rain makes a rainbow" (amazing work btw please don't ever stop writing 😅) and I was wondering what exactly made you ship England and Romano? I mean I love them together and honestly wish the ship was more popular but since it isn't I'm always curious when people do ship them. I'm especially interested in your opinion in particular seeing that you are writing such a perfect story about them in which their personalities are just ON POINT. Lots of ❤

Now this is a question I can definitely answer! Sorry it took so long for me to reply, tumblr has decided it’s not going to bother sending me any notifications letting me know I have posts. -____-  

To answer your question; I’m a bit of a history buff IRL, and I fell in love hetalia right away. Back then it was still just a webcomic, but England, and the ever sassy Romano became my two favourite characters  as soon as they appeared. I got really annoyed by the fact that all the fanfics at the time were FrUK or UsUK, or Spamano, especially given the fact that in canon England and Romano are both pretty head strong characters, and the fandom often makes them uke to the point of being entirely submissive. I didn’t (still don’t) like that. It’s just not them in my opinion.  

So, I went on a hunt for non USUK or FrUK fics, and eventually came across the only EngMano story in existence. I absolutely fell in love with it, and over time more and more stories by the same writer appeared. Sadly the person who wrote them has now deleted a lot of the fics, and they no longer exist anywhere from what I can find. I was horrified to see they were gone. It broke my heart. 

The pairing and stories had left such a strong impression on me that it actually got me into revisiting the fandom again (pairing wars, Mary-sue OCs, and other things killed the fandom for me for a long time), but EngMano was still really obscure, even SpUK was fairly unheard of at the time, and I couldn’t find anything to sate my EngMano cravings. I started looking into real history, and found that the two countries share a lot of similarities. I can’t go into too much detail without possibly giving away possible spoilers for my story, but it was extremely eye opening and interesting to research.

As the precious few EngMano stories that had existed slowly vanished one after the other I came to realise that if I wanted to see EngMano I’d have to write it myself (I thought about drawing, but I’m a terrible artist). I only really wrote the story to satisfy my own cravings for EngMano. Which is why I wrote it anonymously on the kinkmeme; if no one read or liked it it wouldn’t matter, but eventually the story escaped the prompt, and became its own, and livejournal’s character limit and lack of editing facilities got annoying. I wasn’t able to write the story the way I wanted to, so I ended up posting it on AO3.

I was really worried that I would never be able to recreate the same enrapturing quality of the original EngMano fics I’d found all those years ago in my own writing, but the response I’ve gotten for this story (especially for such an underrated pairing) has been so amazing that I’m so glad I chose to try and bring it to light, because it really is an amazing pairing!

So, yeah, that’s the story of how I came to discover EngMano, and write ““Sun and Rain”.
