bernie sanders for president is the dream tbh

- he voted against the shitty 1996 defense of marriage act passed under president bill clinton, which narrowly defined marriage as “between one man and one woman”

- he is one of only two independents remaining in the us senate

- he admires scandinavian-style government and wants to reform american capitalism

- he is highly critical of mass media, particularly news agencies, stating: “i think in a democratic society, you don’t want one or two institutions controlling the flow of information.”

- he attended the 1963 march on washington and organized support for the student nonviolence coordinating committee in the 1960s

- he is (and has been) pushing to raise awareness and pass legislation to address global warming

- he was willing to work across traditionally perceived party lines to pass legislation to reform the department of veteran’s affairs and also introduced legislation to increase disability compensation for veterans and their families, both of which passed congress

- he supported legislation to cut the cost of hiv and aids medications 

- he is a self-proclaimed democratic socialist

- i’m thrilled that he’s running because he wants to make sure that issues are seriously discussed before a democratic candidate is selected and he just has such a good track record and genuinely works to represent his constituents. basically he’s rad as hell and i have so much respect for him.
