Davenport-Dooley Driving Headcanons

Adam

Generally a pretty safe driver, especially when other people are in the car.

Forgets about/misses some road rules at times, though, like straight up forgets 'turn right on red' & 'right of way'.

Pays a lot of attention to other cars bc he's always anxious about other people not knowing what theyre doing/watching where they're going.

Will swerve to avoid hitting worms on the ground.

He once left the engine check light on for a solid month because he "liked the way it looked".

Chase

Drives like a little old lady: slower than cold molasses & obeying every. Little. Rule.

No, he will NOT go a single mph over the speed limit, Bree, I don't care what everyone else is doing.

He's read the entire manual cover to cover & treats his car like his first born child. Probably named it and everything.

Bree

Pedal to the metal the whole time, everyone's screaming, everything's in chaos, she's cursing the whole time because it's "soooo slow".

Gets insane road rage & screams at other cars, lays on the horn every chance she gets.

Hates traffic, if she's ever stuck in traffic she just abandons the car & runs to her destination.

Needless to say, she's not allowed to drive anymore.

Leo

Passenger princess, hates driving and does not get his license until he's at least 20, & even then he still makes other people ferry him around.

Marcus

If Marcus can drive then he was taught by Douglas Davenport, which tells you all you need to know.

Even if he's never touched a steering wheel in his life, he'll insist he knows how to drive, after all how hard can it be? Then he instantly drives off a cliff.

Genuinely makes you question whether he even knows what a car is. He's going 30+mph over the speed limit, HORRIBLE at predicting what other drivers will do, probably not even in the right lane.

You WILL get to your destination. Just maybe not in one piece.

if they had fleshed his character out more and decided to give him a redemption arc, it literally would've been a "idk why i bite" kind of thing because he was literally programmed for destruction.

Hot take incoming!! I really would like to read a fic where only Leo joins LREF. He's the only one without a bionic chip, which means he never had his melted in the finale. If the chip situation was a little more permanent and they could only send Leo, things would've worked out a lot differently. Adam and Bree would have finally gotten the chance to be normal people and Leo would have finally gotten the chance to become more responsible. I really do think that a team with Leo, Oliver, and Kaz has a sort of fun underdog energy to it, as well. I also love the dynamic that he had with Kaz in the crossover episode. It really does feel like he would fit in perfectly with Kaz and Oliver. Chase is amazing, and I really love his character, but Leo really needed his time to shine. Leo was very smart as well. He liked engineering and tech almost as much as Chase did, so he could've been the team's hacker/tech guy. The fact that the three of them didn't have any kind of powers or abilities until the end (or towards the end, in Leo's case) of their shows gives them such "Team Human" vibes. Like, I feel like it would be easier to focus on their emotions and working through their trauma if it was just the three of them. They are not as experienced as the other characters are, so there would be more growth for them. All of the Davenkids are great, and I love them all equally, but ABC really should've gotten to retire.

There's an alternate universe somewhere where Adam just doesn't want a new chip after the finale and goes off to be a farmer. One of the recurring jokes in the show is the fact that Adam loves farm animals and wants to have some. That, coupled with the fact that he doesn't really like Donald, makes it hard to believe that he stayed a teacher post-finale. Give me a fic with wholesome farmer Adam, PLEASE! It's even better if he takes some of the soldiers with him to be farmhands, too.

I feel bad for bree how much shit she faces in the show and for what purpose...

She just doesn't get time to herself, donald doesn't even seem to interact with her much let alone like her outside of using her as a pawn to try and get back at his brother

She's insulted for being too feminine, shes insulted for being too masculine and boyish, when she fights back against the horrible notion of being forced to be bionic, she getd insulted and and treated poorly by the narrative and it sucks so badly. And also gets gaslit into wanting her bionics back

And adam is solely treated as some dumb brute, honestly soemtimes i think hes the forgotten chikd and that's why he lashes out at chase, this is still bad btw this is jusf a random hc. But like.
