          the details of his and leo’s ARRANGEMENT were maybe not as hammered out as they should have been, but they’ve managed this long on their shared intuition, and caz sees no reason to change it. and right now ?? that douche with the backwards snapback is definitely annoying her. he knows leo can handle herself more than anyone, but he’s feeling a bit bored and maybe had been looking for her anyway. so he comes up behind her, arms wrapping around her slim frame and chin dropping onto her shoulder. she still feels WARM, sunkissed though it’s long slunk below the horizon.      “ hey BABE —- ”      his lips are close to her ear, words loud enough to carry over the music and be clearly be overheard. they’re directed at her, of course, but his eyes are trained on snapback dude.     “ —- this guy BOTHERING you ?? ”

          𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄'𝐒 𝐀 𝐍𝐄𝐎𝐍 𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐊 ribbon that sits precariously in her hair, the string becoming more loose and slipping further down the silky strands with every passing hour. it’s a ribbon that she’s certain she won’t be seeing again after tonight. her cheeks are flushed, cup empty - a result of her lips flirting with the edges of the cup and taking lengthy sips in order to give her something to do instead of roll her eyes as the lacrosse player drones on and on. --- caz comes at the perfect time,  a life saviour - a breath of fresh air as he always is; the embrace is welcomed and brings a sense of comfort as she visibly relaxes into him, practically melting into his arms  .  “  hi BABY  ,  ”  she turns her head, her lips finding his cheek in a kiss, the role that they play is almost too easy, falling into a pattern that doesn’t require much effort from either of them  .  “  of course NOT  ,  ”  she breezes, even if her and caz both know the truth,  her gaze finds the boy standing opposite them, whose visibly taken a step back as his gaze drinks the sight of leo and caz in. he offers her a quick goodbye before he’s slinking away like a puppy with his tail between his legs. she waits a few moments before she lets a laugh bubble out of her, untangling herself from caz momentarily to face him before she’s tossing her arms around his neck in a hug  .   “   he was sucking the LIFE out of me  ,  ”  she muses dramatically into his neck before she’s pulling away  .  “   have i told you lately that you’re my FAVORITE fake boyfriend  ?  ”  she teases with a bright grin littering her features  ,  “  wanna come get a DRINK with me  ?  you can fill me in on your night SO FAR  .  mine has been a mix of what you just SAW and random people trying to make me their MASTERPIECE  .  ”   she raises her arms, showing him the glowing paint that inhabits nearly every inch of her skin.
