theres something about being disabled and needing to sit down constantly in public spaces that makes you notice how often benches are put up as tributes and memorials. and before i hit an age where i really started to need them as frequently i think i never fully understood the sentiment but now its become very endearing to me. a bit of relief and care for you in the name of someone who offered us the same… i dont think i had a point with this post but i hope everyone thats been memorialized as such knows how loved they were to become synonymous with respite even to total strangers
i often think of my friend who lives in a lighthouse and the time we were having lunch together and he said he had some new friends over for a movie night and I asked what they watched and he grimaced and said “the lighthouse” and I said “wow. a bold choice to watch with new friends” and he said “I just thought it would be fun since, you know. And well. None of us knew what it was about.”
Hossam @hossamalbardawel has been fundraising since June, and really needs anything you can spare right now. He has suffered immeasurable loss at the hands of the occupying forces: when his house was bombed, his parents and siblings were all martyred. After searching for their remains in the rubble of his house, he found himself without his family, his home, even his neighbours. He writes that "I am a body without a soul, without a life." At just 28, he is now providing for his young nieces and nephews, along with his widowed sisters-in-law. He has a painful back injury, and is suffering in the harsh conditions of tent life.
Hossam's goal is $20,000 CAD to relocate himself and his remaining family members to a safer place. This is a very attainable goal, and he is nearing halfway there. He can't always get online, so he needs our help to keep this campaign circulating, and most importantly, to donate. If you've seen his story before, but assumed that someone else would donate—don't assume that! Donate now to keep Hossam and his family safe through this incredibly painful time.

This is Taim and Tia. I have made several posts over the last few months about their family's fundraiser. Their mother, Eman has an account on tumblr, but it is difficult for her to update it and her instagram due to spotty internet. She and I have exchanged several messages over tumblr dm so I know her family is currently safe.
Donations have been slow lately. Please donate- even a little can go a long way. This fundraiser supports Taim, Tia, their older sister, as well as Eman and Eman's two sisters and parents.
In her messages to me, Eman has told me that she and her family are deeply grateful to everyone who has donated and shared their fundraiser.
As a reminder, this fundraiser was verified by @/el-shab-hussein.
This is a message from my children asking you to live in peace and safety. Please do not skip the post. Help me please. My children are in danger. Please donate and share the link to reach the goal as soon as possible.
