I just discovered something!!!

While doing my compilation posts about Mike being disgusted at everything, I was really interested in his face here from 3x01:

There's a marked difference in how Dustin looks thinking about Phoebe Cates and Suzie compared to Mike. Mike looks less than interested. While working on my "Mike is disgusted" posts, this face qualified as disgusted. And yes, maybe that's because he's weirded out by Dustin dating some hot girl, BUT. Then I looked up Phoebe Cates.

At first I was like, yeah she is hot, seems kinda gay to be making that face at the mention of her. But then I realized: those red bikini pictures are from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

And when else has Fast Times at Ridgemont High popped up? Oh yeah, that's right, Steve used it as evidence to prove that Vickie likes boobies in 4x01.

This actress that was used to show that Vickie likes girls, likes boobies, was used previously as one of the many hints that Mike doesn't like them! They're using Fast Times and Phoebe Cates as a way to show evidence about a character's sexuality. We saw that Steve was right: Vickie is into girls and likes Robin. Which means that Mike looking disgusted at Phoebe Cates is pointing to him being queer, maybe gay.

ST loves it's parallels. And here's another Mike-Vickie one.

More updates on #googlemapsgate coming as I keep digging through the Stranger Writers twitter. However for the moment, I have discovered something else even weirder??

As I was going through their twitter I noticed they tweet "eu te amo mais" ("i love you more" in Portuguese) a LOT. (4 show up in the search but I'm certain I've already seen more than that). At first I figured this was just the author sprinkling in some of their native language when interacting with fans. However it kept coming up, and always the same - all lowercase, nothing else in the tweets except occasionally an emoji.

I searched "eu te amo mais" on Netflix and two things show up: Stranger Things and a K-Drama called Nevertheless

Tell me WHY Stranger Things shows up under a completely unrelated Portuguese phrase that the writers account tweeted repeatedly??? With only one other show (also not in Portuguese) showing up?

I've not had a chance to watch the show yet, but here is some info pulled from the Wikipedia page.

rewatching certain parts of season 2 rn and realized you can actually tell that they’ve been working on developing byler’s relationship as romantic even back then because the fact that these scenes happen back to back

mike taking will home (aka his basement for whatever reason!!) after his trance then DIRECTLY after this scene we get jonathan taking nancy home after she gets wasted in the party (theyre undeniably parallels too because the same song plays in both scenes...and if jancy’s is supposed to be romantic then what does that say about byler 🤔)

jonathan and nancy sleeping in the same room then the scene that follows directly after this is MIKE literally sleeping next to WILL in his room

like they werent being subtle AT ALL about directly paralleling jancy and byler and it just went over people’s heads (including mine admittedly) because...heteronormativity ig

They literally put the word Henry next to Will's neck in the classroom scene and people expect me to believe the props and set design don't matter?? They expect me to believe Mike's little gay one-way sign pointing to his YELLOW closet doesn't mean anything??? 🤨🤨

WILL AND MIKE on a date. it’s post s5. all of the supernatural stuff is over. it has been for years. they’re at a restaurant.  the waiter serves mike his drink. it’s weirdly warm and will notices mike’s reaction to it and asks him what’s wrong + mike tells him that his drink’s too warm and gross  will flags down a waiter the water asks what the problem is.  will, while looking mike dead in the eyes while answering the water and trying not to laugh, goes: “he likes it cold.” cue mike looking momentarily traumatized thinking for 1/14th of a second that will had been possessed again but then starts laughing alongside will, and a very confused waiter
