AU where the hat knows that there’s a storm brewing on the horizon Harry’s first year, and is determined to be ready.

When “Granger, Hermione,” is called, Hermione’s logic catches up to her excitement and she realises that the sorting hat has been a part of this world for centuries and she’s only been in it for weeks, and that she wants to listen to what it has to say before asking to be placed in Gryffindor. And the hat looks, and the hat sees someone who’s always been on the outside, who has such thirst, such ambition, and who knows that she is capable of more. And thinks Slytherin immediately.

“Very well,” Hermione thinks. “Put me in Slytherin.

And the hat warns her that she is not choosing an easy path, that there is a reason that no muggleborn has gone to Slytherin since the time of Voldemort. It tells her that it is dangerous, and that he can put her in another house as he has done for those before her. But he looks into her mind and sees the force of her conviction.

“I’ve been facing racism my entire life,” she tells it. “Here I have the power to do something about it. Put me in Slytherin.”

“Very well,” the hat thinks, and announces her placement. And jaws drop and eyes widen in shock as this little black girl with eyes like a bronze warship and the bearing of a queen walks over to her table.

When “Potter, Harry,” is called, and the hat sees a child who has suffered, but is so powerful, more powerful than almost any child he has ever seen, if he could only believe what he is capable of. Powerful enough to do what is needed, even though it shouldn’t be his responsibility. And Harry is so nervous he tells the hat to put him anywhere. Put him anywhere, just let him stay.

“Very well,” the hat thinks, better be…

“SLYTHERIN” is the only sound before the hall is silent and shocked her again, as a shy little boy with black hair and tan skin who looks far too skinny and far too small stumbles over to the Slytherin table, trying his best to be as invisible as possible. And his big green eyes have a haunted look that says he’s seen too much for someone his age, and that looking back is not an option.

When McGonagall reads “Weasley, Ronald,” Ron is confused. An hour ago, he was sure he would go to Gryffindor, thought he knew the order of the world. But his new friend is in Slytherin and he’s too nice to be evil, and Ron questions what he thought were hard truths.

And the hat sees. Sees a boy who’s been overshadowed, who has so much ambition and so much longing to prove that he can be something. And he is something, something more. The hat can feel it in its very fibres. “You were made for Slytherin,” it tells him. “You have the mind of a general and the ability to face your worst fears and stand strong in the heat of battle.” And Ron thinks that sounds far too ominous, but all he knows is that his new friend is in Slytherin, the only friend he’s ever had that respected him like an equal and looked at him like he was Ron and not Just Another Weasley. And he makes up his mind.

“Okay,” he tells the hat. Aware that he is breaking away from centuries of Weasley tradition. But isn’t that what he wanted- to be noticed?

“SLYTHERIN,” the hat calls, just as the students think that they cannot possibly be more surprised.

And the gangly redhead that slinks awkwardly to the table in green, away from all his brothers, doesn’t look like much, seems to the casual eye entirely unimpressive. But there is a look in his eyes that says he is strong, he is capable, he is loyal without fault if only he can find someone who is worthy to stand by him. There is power there, there is more.

And nobody knows quite what happened, but everybody can sense things will never quite be the same.

A cute Tochako one-shot for your health

Title: "You're cute when you blush"

Rated: T

Notes: I just realised this ship has almost no content, so I made this cute sappy one-shot. I usually don't post one-shots or fanfics on tumblr, but the Tochako tag really needs more action, so here I am. I usually do bigger things, sorry if it got too small, I was aiming to reach at least 3000 words or more.

Word count: 1185

Ochako let an annoyed sight escape her mouth. She definatly was not the type to wear a dress. Well, she did like them, but she simply didn't like them all that much in that type of situation.

When the brunette first joined to leage of villains, one of the first things Tomura told her, was that he wouldn't let her walk around with her hero suit. "It's too flashy, it'll draw too much attention" he said. Because of course, a guy full of hands all over his body isn't flashy at all. Honestly, the whole league of villains was flashy, extremly flashy. So, she didn't really understand why they forced her to change from her hero attire, that'd help her control her quirk better, while a dude full of scars all over is body that looked like a god damn zombie or some shit could just walk around without a care in the world.

Himiko was the first and only one that volunteered to help the brunette with her new villain attire. In the end, instead of giving something useful, Toga just gave her a short sleeveless black dress with a moon symbol beneath her chest, some black combat boots and black high socks.

"Put some shorts under it if you feel uncomfortable Ochako-chan!" she said, and Ochako did put shorts under it, but she still felt extremly uncomfortable with the idea of running and jumping and floating with a dress.

And there she was, with Himiko climbing a god damn fucking wall, while wearing a dress. Their mission was to spy UA and get enough information so that the league of villains could strike, once again. Everyone inside that school thought Ochako was missing, when in reality, she was just working for the league of villains. Something she regreted just by looking at the dress Toga gave her.

Well, talking about Himiko, she showed to be quite the annoyance. At first, she just wouldn't shut up about Deku. She was also extremly clingy to her from the start, for some reason. With time, she stopped talking about Deku and just became annoyingly clingy over her.

Uraraka had to admit, sometimes, it could be kind of cute, but it was majorly just a pain in the ass.

"I spy with my little eyes something interesting eheh!" The blond said pointing at one of the windows.

The brunette tried to look better at the window Toga pointed to, after some time she could finally spot what was happening, though it didn't really seem nothing special. It was just Shinsou and Kaminari talking. Hitoshi Shinsou had managed to get into the hero course just some months before Uraraka went missing, due to that Ochako ended up not knowing much about him.

"What do you mean? They're just talking." Uraraka said in a harsh tone. Yes, it definatly wasn't from her nature to act like that. Since she entered in the league of villains, she promised she'd leave that bubbly and gentle personality of hers behind. If she wanted to be a true villain, she just couldn't go around spreading daisies and dandelions. So the brunette just hoped that one day, the mask would be so thight around her face, that she'd never be able to take it off ever again. It honestly would just spare her from the incoming pain of her former friend's disppointed faces once they found out she was a villain.

"Aww, how can you not see it? We're not very alike after all!" The blond said pouting, however that didn't last much since her smile and blush quickly came back "But don't worry, I still love you Ko-chan~"

Now, that was a strong word. A too strong word. Himiko went around saying she loved everyone, so Uraraka had big (enourmous) doubts that the blond knew how actual love felt like. Hell, not even she did know how it felt like! Yeah, she did have a crush on Deku and some other boys trough her life, but she never actually came to love anyone beyond her own family.

"You throw the word 'love' like confettis Toga, do you really expect me to believe you?"

"Oh, but with you is different Ko-chan! I love Stain-sama and Deku-kun but not like I love you, Ko-chan~!"

"Stop calling me 'Ko-chan', it's annoying. Just call me either Uraraka or Ochako."

"Can I call you gummy bear?"

"What is that even supposed to mean?!"

"Isn't gummy bear a cute romantic nickname?"

"W-WHAT?!" Oh no, her hold self was comming back! She could sense that due to burning sensation on her cheeks and how her hands moved franticly in a negative sign.

Calm yourself, Ochako.

The brunette sighted for what seemed the hundreth time that day, regaining her stoic look.

"Aww, you don't need to act all tough and rude around me, Ko-chan! I really liked how you were back then on UA, you can be like that with me, I won't tell Tomura, I promess!"

"And what grants you that the bubbly Uraraka was only a façade and that this is my real self?"

Himiko simply smiled at her, with her usual weird smile, though it seemed more smug.

Is she mocking me?!

Once again, Uraraka tried to ignore Toga, focusing her attention on the various students and teachers, trying to gain some information.

"Hey, Ko-chan, do you hate me?"

"W-what? No!"

"Then, between loving me and hating me, would you say you love me?"

"W-WHAT?! ABSOLUTLY NOT!"

"Aww, you're blusing and all embarrased, just like when you were on UA, how cute!"

"UA is past, this is my new me."

"I wouldn't be so sure of it! Perosnality isn't something you can change like pantsu eheh~"

"Toga, you have some really weird methaphors."

"Ko-chan, give me a kiss~!"

Uraraka tried to hide her flushed face between her hands. She did want to change into someone more though, but with Toga going around saying things like that it was way more difficult.

Since the day Uraraka told Himiko she didn't know what love felt like, the blond had become even more clingy, if that was even possible.

Ochako would never admit it, but it was cute, really cute actually. If they were in other situation maybe the brunette would be a bit more considerate towards Himiko, but she was now in an organization full of blood thirtsty villains, she couldn't be gentle or caring, no matter how annoyingly cute Himiko was.

"Awww, Ko-chan, don't ignore me!"

Uraraka sighted, maybe it wouldn't hurt anyone if she was nice just one last time.

So, the brunette smiled and said a "sit here".

Himiko looked honestly surprised but she quickly smiled, sitting next to Uraraka, then lying her head on the brunette's shoulder.

" You know Ko-chan, I love you so much! I'd kill for you!"

"Erm..."

"Please ask me to kill someone for you."

"No don't kill anyone!"

"Aww, you're no fun" Himiko pouted.

With an extremly flushed face, Uraraka ducked her head to kiss Toga on the cheek.

"Ko-chan kissed me! Let me kiss you now Ko-chan!"

"O-oh Himiko, y-you d-don't need t-to-"

But the brunette was quickly cut off by the blond's lips on her own. Her eyes widened as she became even more red then before.

Himiko broke the kiss, looking at Uraraka with her usual smile and a light blush.

"You're so cute when you blush~!"

haku is canonly gay and in love with zabuza and saying he thought of zabuza as a father is blatant erasure of that and masashi kishimoto wrote the two intending to make them have a homosexual relationship but seeing as it came out in 1999 and japans media is and was widely homophobic he couldn’t really make them kiss or anything but he did say he “"accidentally”“ made zabuhaku after the fact and the age difference is gross but they are canonly gay men and im sick of ppl acting like it was a het father/son relationship

Yandere Archetypes

Yandere is a super broad umbrella term and I’ve been whining for a while now about how badly I want to see it broken down into coherent subgroups based on behaviour and mentality. I’ve seen a few blogs do something similar (most notably @yandere-daydreams who has a whole fascinating world built around the idea of yandere being the social norm, and does some great writing besides) but none of them have quite been what I had in mind, so I decided to finally sit down and try to make my own categories. 

This isn’t super refined or anything, and I’ll keep updating and editing more specific categories as I figure out how, but here’s what I’ve got so far.

The first way Yandere are divided is based on a Kinsey scale of Delusional to Lucid.

Delusional Yandere believe that their Obsession is already in love with them, or that, if they aren’t already, they will be soon. They either see nothing at all wrong with their actions, or they justify their actions as being perfectly acceptably because they were done for love. Not only do they justify their actions to themselves, but they expect their Obsession to understand, sympathise with, and appreciate all they’ve done in the name of their love. Delusional Yandere can be unpredictable when their Obsession reacts negatively. Some will hardly see it as little more than a lover’s spat, while others will become enraged that their Obsession would “betray” them by trying to get away after everything they’ve done to build their relationship.

Semi-Delusional Yandere are mostly delusional with random bouts of lucidity. They maintain a true Delusional Yandere’s instability and unpredictable nature, but their occasional self-awareness alows them to better navigate the world around them. They may experience rare second thoughts or guilt over their actions, but they quickly brush these off.

Selective Yandere are either Delusional or Lucid depending on circumstance. They’re likely aware on some level that their fantasy is exactly that, but they prefer to believe it’s true, or else outside factors are continuously forcing them to face and second-guess their delusions, leading to them having more regular and longer-lasting bouts of lucidity. Selective Yandere are a random grab bag of traits, because of their place right in the middle. Some may have all the guilt and regret of a truly Lucid Yandere coupled with all the instability and desperation of a truly Delusional Yandere, while others will have all the Lucid’s self-awareness and all the Delusional’s drive, making for a terrifyingly dangerous combination either way.

Semi-Lucid Yandere are usually aware of themselves and their actions, but they either so heavily justify those actions to themselves that they’ve begun to truly believe those justifications, or outside influences are impacting their mental stability, prompting them to more heavily lean into their Obsession as an escape from reality. These yandere are typically more willing to cross lines than their truly lucid counterparts, although they still hold fear of what their Obsession would say or do if they found out.

Lucid Yandere are aware of their actions, and how those actions impact reality, both for themselves and their Obsession. They have a relatively clear understanding that what they’re doing is wrong, and that their Obsession likely won’t thank them for it, but they either don’t care or are incapable of stopping themselves. They may justify their actions as being for their love, but they aren’t expecting their Obsession to do the same. They will go to great lengths to keep their actions hidden from their Obsession, and although they may be more stable than their Delusional counterparts, their self-awareness can sometimes mean they have an easier time manipulating their obsession or other people around them.

From here, yandere can be further divided based on the reasoning behind their obsession. Yandere are either Selfish or Selfless.

Selfish Yandere are more interested in how their Obsession makes them feel than they are with the Obsession themselves. These yandere will stop at nothing to have their Obsession’s full, undivided attention. They want you because you make them feel good, and as a result, they refuse to let you go. Like an addict, these yandere are constantly chasing the high they get from being with you, and, like an addict, they may gradually need more and more of your time and affection to keep them satisfied. They’ll keep you with them at all costs, even if it means hurting you or doing something directly against your best interests.

Selfless Yandere care more about the happiness and well-being of their Obsession than their own, which sounds better until you consider that a yandere’s over-protectiveness can be a lethal thing. These yandere tend to be more Lucid than their Selfish counterparts, though that isn’t a hard rule. All yandere crave to be recognised and loved by their Obsession, but a Selfless yandere puts that second to ensuring the comfort, safety, and happiness of their Obsession. Some never push for a romance at all, content to merely be a protector, while others are simply willing to patiently put it on the back-burner while they focus on more important things. These yandere might allow you to have close relationships with your friends and family members, either because they know it’ll make you happy or because they have more important things to worry about. 

Some examples (potential spoiler warning):

Lucid Selfish: Ayano Aishi/Yandere-Chan, Yandere Simulator. Ayano’s “Love at first sight” for her senpai Taro Yamada was born when he was the first person to make her feel anything. She knows he isn’t in love with her, and doesn’t particularly care one way or another. Her senpai is a vessel that delivers the high she craves, she wants to keep him with her because she craves the way he makes her feel.

Delusional Selfish: Sato Matsuzuka, Happy Sugar Life. Sato found Shio on the side of the road after Shio was abandoned by her mother, and “fell in love” with Shio because Shio made her feel “sweet.” She didn’t hesitate to kidnap a child off the streets, and refuses to see anything abnormal about their relationship, even going so far as to say that everyone else’s love is “bitter” and wrong. When she finds out Shio’s older brother is desperately searching for her, it never occurs to her that Shio might be happier or better-off with hi. Instead she desperately does everything she can to remove him from the occasion, so she can keep Shio with her and keep feeling “sweet.”

Lucid Selfless: Homura Akemi, Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Homura is never once under any delusions about her relationship with Madoka, although she of course yearns for something closer. She never once shows any interest in keeping Madoka away from her friends or family, even though Homura is at best apathetic and at worst actively dislikes every single one of them, because she knows the isolation wouldn’t make Madoka happy, and would rather kill herself and sacrifice a potential life with Madoka than see her come to harm. She only kidnaps Madoka when she gains the ability to literally rewrite the universe, creating a perfect city where Madoka can be with all of her loved ones while still being close to and protected by Homura.

Selective Selfless: Yuno Gasai, Mirai Nikki/Future Diary. Yuno is a perfect example of a Selective Yandere because she can literally rewrite or delete her own memories at will, allowing her to completely pick and choose how she views the world and her experiences. Although it’s somewhat tricky to define her on a selfish-selfless binary, since her powers mean that her actions have effectively zero consequences, she’s still mostly driven by a desire to keep Yuki safe and happy, as shown by her willingness to kill Yuki’s mother rapidly changing when she found out the woman was a good and loving mom. The first time she killed Yuki, she did so under the belief that she could bring him back to life and make him a god alongside her, and the second time she attempted to kill him she was thinking of the Yuki in the next time-loop, who she could try to have a better relationship with. Yuno’s main drive is to keep Yuki alive during the survival game, however she constantly pushes him for a closer relationship, and often convinces herself that the lines she crosses simply don’t exist.
