Hi, I'm in high school and I have a reading project where I have to choose a book to read. I've was wondering if choosing Les Miserables is a good idea? It's not "too difficult" for a high school student is it? :)

I was reading a review of the Fresno production and the reviewer mentioned the turntable set was banned when licensing rights opened up for community theaters. Does anyone know the story behind that? (That seems... weird, especially as it's not even used anymore except in London.)

Hugo talks a lot about the sewer system but not about actual toilets. From my research, there probably weren't toilets in 1830s Paris, but then did they use outhouses? Chamber pots? Both?

Just a bit of general information - I know all intentions were probably good and harmless but I won't publish any questions about performers' personal lives/relationships, especially when they leave a lot of room for speculation and gossip in the responses. Sorry!

starlene asked:
Director Georg Malvius has done four productions of Les Misérables so far, and each of them has been something of a replica of his first non-replica Les Mis that premiered in Tallinn in 2001. Does anyone know if other non-replica productions of Les Misérables (a.k.a. not based on the original production or the 25th ann. production) have ever been replicated?

Does the West End still use the turntable? I heard the US Tour didn't and the Toronto/Broadway productions won't, so I'm wondering if it's still part of the staging...
