I wanted to add: The human brain cannot emotionally differentiate between reality and fiction.

That is to say, your brain responds to fictional stress the exact same way it responds to stress in reality, even if you can remind yourself that it is fiction.

This leads me to the suggestion that the brain cannot distinguish internet experiences as anything "other" to reality. Internet, at some point, becomes reality.

At the very least, it is the reality we have forced it to be.

what happened to you on the internet is not unimportant or meaningless, just because it happened on the internet.

even though the internet is considered seperate from the rest of life, it has become intertwined for everyone.

especially if it takes up a good chunk of your life, you are not weird at all for being affected by what happens here and what is directed at you specifically.

even if it's meaningless and unimportant to other people, that is irrelevant to how you feel about it and how it affects you.

please, don't downplay your pain or blame yourself just because it happened online.

Solid items, such as wood blocks, legos, duplo, or more, may provide more cathartic relief than a pillow tower or plastic cup tower, but those are viable options as well. Your goal is to simply build something for them to destroy. On your mark, they are free to destroy within a limited period of time. The shorter, the more intense. I often aim for around 30 seconds, but variety is the overlaying importance and it will all be incredible unique to the individual.
