Sometimes sarcastic, and this is my go-to place for vegan vents, BUT I'm also a positive vegan I promise.

I've been working on a library-themed patch vest for a bit, and since it's Solarpunk Aesthetic Week, I figured it'd be fun to post what I have so far.

The front. [ID: A blue denim vest with colourful patches and pins on the chest pockets and shoulder panels. Most of the patches are library or book related. End ID.]

Close-ups of the front. [ID: Two close up photos of the front patches and pins. They feature book related imagery and slogans like "Read Books and Dismantle Systems of Oppression", "Wishbone Book Club Member", "Libraries are for Everyone", "Check This Out", "Proud to be a Radical Militant Librarian", and "No Shelf Control". End ID.]

The Back. [ID: The back of the same vest, which currently features 5 patches. The biggest one covers most of the back panel, and reads "Support Your Local Library, Free Information is Punk". A smaller patch directly above it says "Read Banned Books". The other patches include a UFO patch that reads "I'm Out", a book patch that reads "The Characters are Fictional, but the Emotional Damage is Real", and a patch with an image of an oak leaf and acorns. There is still a lot of blank space left to be filled. End ID.]
I need to make more patches for this one, so if anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them! 😁

"I'm a vegan but actually eating meat is more eco friendly" I don't believe you're a vegan at all actually
#sometimes people lie online#and any 'vegan' that starts giving 'positives' to eating animals is a RED FLAG to me#maybe plant based but still doubtful

Solarpunk, realism, dystopia: a rant

Hopefully this is helpful to someone out there 🌸
You can find the Prompts podcast here, I drew some of the covers :D Also check out this digital library full of Creative Commons Solarpunk art (neither of these are sponsored).
🦗Somewhat shameful plug🦗
I would highly appreciate if you threw me a couple bucks on Buy Me a Coffee or bought a commission, my money number is only getting smaller these days 😔🤙

Congrats!!! It'll be two years for me this year, can't wait 🥰
its so weird to me how quickly veganism became part of my identety….like i have been vegan for 5 months now but it already kind of feels like a lifetime. it doesn’t feel like this new thing that i’m trying out….it feels more llike a very clear and setteled part of my identity

Would much rather someone be "vegan except for cheese" than totally non vegan
👏 👏 👏
100 people (genuinely) doing what they can is going to do more in the long run than 3 people being "perfect". We all start somewhere. If you can't give it 100%, it's infinitely better to do what you can rather than throw up your hands and walk away entirely

As the link between animal agriculture and climate breakdown becomes clearer, if anything, we are seeing more ordinary people falling over themselves to defend an industry that is destroying our planet, polluting our communities, exploiting animals and human workers. This is especially worrying to see from leftists, in spaces that are supposed to be progressive. I promise you, you do not need to spend your time greenwashing leather and wool, repeating blatant industry propaganda about veganism, 'regenerative agriculture' or whatever other buzzword they're using to sow doubt this week. The industry already spends millions of your dollars to lobby our politicians and influence public opinion; they don't need you to do it for free.

Whenever I read "I don't take vegans seriously because X" I'm forced to roll my eyes. You don't take us seriously because you don't want to, and you don't want to because making any kind of lifestyle change in the name of your beliefs is seen as too much effort these days.

Every couple of weeks a post goes around arguing that "leather is good actually, and critics of leather are actually so much crueler to animals because microplastics (and also plant based fake leather sucks btw)."
Listen folks, you're spreading propoganda for one of the most polluting, cruelest (for the animals and the workers) industries out there, all for free!
Yeah plastic clothing is shitty and fake leather mostly sucks, but so does real leather. The secret third option here is to not buy any leather products at all. Real or fake.
Look for durable canvas boots instead of ones made of skin. Try tying yourself up in a rope harness rather than a leather one. Go for the cloth interior when you get that new car. And if you just have to have leather for whatever strange reasons you have, for the love of all animal life, please thrift it.
Just because something is a byproduct of another horrible industry doesn't lessen the impact its manufacture has on animals, workers, and the environment. The less animal products we buy, the harder it is for animal agriculture to be profitable, and that's the first step towards the abolition of specisism and animal exploitation entirely.
