what happened in my city...
This blog is maintained by a young girl from Kharkiv, the city of Ukraine.
12 days ago - it was Thursday - I woke up at 5 am from the sound of explosion. I didn’t know and couldn’t believe this was a beginning of the worst days of my life. Me, my family and thousands of people in Kharkiv - we couldn’t imagine that Russia, which we have a common border with, would attack us, kill us, destroy us.
They did it at 5 am - same way as nazis attacked our country 80 years ago (Hitler did it at 4 am).
Let me explain: it’s been 8 years of russian aggression on eastern regions of Ukraine, 8 years of ukrainian territories annexed, still - despite all of that, - there was a very strong connection between my hometown Kharkiv and russian city Belgorod which we have the common border with - lots of us have relatives, families, friends living there. For historical reasons, Kharkiv is mostly russian-speaking city, and that made P*tin think that once his army crossed our border, people of Kharkiv will surrender. He thought we, as russian-speakers, will meet russian soldiers with flowers and greetings.
BUT WE DIDN’T.
Because Kharkiv is Ukrainian city. Ukraine is our homeland, not Russia, never been. People - I mean, simple civilians, - resisted. We started defend our land, spread truthful information, help Ukrainian troops and literally communicate with russian soldiers, demanding to leave our land. Even those loyal to Russia because of the family connections. All those russian speakers. We told the world and told russians - WE ARE STANDING WITH UKRAINE, we are ukrainians.
And this is someting P*tin couldn’t forgive us. He was sure he will take us for 2-3 days. He was sure we wil stand in applause once his army will enter the city. We didn’t.
THEN HE STARTED TO ATTACK CIVILIAN AREAS.
Russians attack civilian buildings, schools, kindergarten, playgrounds, museums and reserves, universities, sports complexes, swimming pools, cinemas, restaurants, markets, grocery stores. They kill people and kill animals.
They cannot forgive us our courage. They can't accept that we weren't afraid.
5 russian bombs were thrown to my backyard. I still don’t understand how me, my parents and our cat came out alive. It’s a miracle. Eight of my neighbors were killed - people just came out to get some water, when Russia attacked our neighborhood from the sky. I have a little blog, I’m not popular and I don’t expect for a feedback. But I just want the world to know a story about my beautiful brave and strong Kharkiv. A city of people that didn’t surrender.
A city that Putin personally takes revenge on.
I don’t know which city will be the next. It could be Paris or Vienna, Warsawa or Hamburg. It can be Los Angeles and New York, Houston and Chicago - I’m not kidding guys that man is psycho, he thinks his army is the strongest.
For all your peaceful existance, for tasty breakfasts and hugging with your pets, for safe walking and bicycles ridings, for listening to Adele’s new music and watching new Batman. My people are standing strong and don't let russians to come to your houses the way they did to mine.
Please, support ukrainians all over the world, don’t make this agenda disappear. Thus we, as a nation, will disappear and there will be no border between P*tin and your families. NATO denied helping us with the sky forces, the sky wich russians used to attack my backyard. So they denied to protect your future.
