Eddie Munson was your weed dealer and nothing more.
Well, occasionally shrooms. Or Special K. Basically, he was your dealer with no strings attached.
You weren’t even sure if you liked the guy. You didn’t know him. He was very…vocal from what you saw of him in the cafeteria, but he always came along with his small group of nerdy friends. You never saw him with a girl. Not once.
There was no way Eddie Munson was a virgin, right? The dude had done his senior year 3 times now, he was like 20 years old. You figured the girls at school probably just weren’t his taste anymore.
Why Eddie was on your mind so much lately was honestly beyond you. You had never thought of him much before, unless you needed some drugs for the weekend. But now it was like he was always on your mind. You even brought it up to your best friend, Chrissy, after practice.
“There’s just no way he’s a virgin, right?” You asked her as you moved into a split, feeling the muscles in your thighs stretching.
Chrissy giggled as she did the same. “Why are you so interested in Eddie Munson’s sex life all of a sudden?”
“I’m not,” you said quickly. “It just…doesn’t make sense. Have you ever seen him with a girl?”
“Of course not,” Chrissy said. “But who knows what he gets up to outside of school.”
Her words stuck with you. Because you wanted to know what Eddie got up to outside of school.
You found yourself fantasizing about it, dreaming about it. When Eddie first started making his appearances in your dreams, it shocked you. You had never been attracted to him until that night. You dreamt of him shirtless, tattoos exposed on his lithe body. He rolled a joint with his dexterous fingers and lit it, taking a long drag before handing it to you.
“Your turn, princess,” he’d said in a lower, much more suave voice than you’d ever actually heard from him. You grabbed for the joint but he held it out of your reach, bringing it back to his own lips and breathing deeply before leaning in and breathing the smoke out into your mouth. You had moaned against his lips, feeling his smirk against your own mouth.
He looked like a sex god. Sometimes he would grab his guitar and play you a song. Sometimes he would undress you and eat your pussy all night, other times he would make you worship his cock until he was satisfied and cumming all over your face. You especially liked it when he held you down and fucked you like your body begged to be fucked.
Then you’d wake up in a cold sweat, clit throbbing between your legs in a way that had you desperate to go back to sleep and let him finish you off. You’d have to face him at school again, just the usual nerdy guy you remembered.
You figured you had to make a move.
You approached him during lunch, short little green and yellow cheer skirt swaying as you crossed the room towards him. You caught his attention about halfway across the room and he did a double take, wide eyes landing on you as his friends turned to see what had distracted him.
“Hey, Eddie,” you greeted, a small smile on your lips.
“Uh, h-hey,” he said, smoothing a hand through his wild hair. It didn’t do much to tame the curls. “What’s up?”
“I was hoping maybe we could meet up after school?” You asked, your voice obviously flirtatious. One of his friends - Gareth? - raised his eyebrows at him, looking between the two of you with a barely contained smirk.
“Oh! Yeah, for sure,” he said. “The usual? In the woods behind the school?”
“Sounds good,” you agreed. “See you later…Eddie.”
You made a point to sway your hips as you walked away, and you could feel Eddie’s and his friends’ eyes on you. Your ass, specifically. You knew what you had been blessed with, and you weren’t afraid to use it.
That day after school, you snuck off and headed down the familiar path through the wooded area. The leaves crunched beneath your white sneakers as you walked, the October chill making you pull your sweater tighter around your body. No one was at the meetup spot when you arrived, so you sat on top of the table, legs crossed as you waited.
It wasn’t long before the crunching of leaves gave away another presence. Eddie approached the table, eyes locked on your form. God, those legs in that little skirt. He thought about what it might be like to spread them, to breathe in your scent and bury his face between your thighs. He had frequent fantasies of stealing a pair of your panties during practice and bringing them home, bringing them up to his face and breathing deeply, wrapping them around his cock as he fisted it, spilling his cum all over the pretty material. He had no idea what your panties actually looked like, but surely they were as perfect as you.
He carried his metal lunchbox, stocked with weed. His gait was slow as he got closer to you, taking his sweet time to drink in your appearance until he’d had his fill. When he reached the table, he sat the lunch pail down on the wood with a bang.
“What can I get you today, m’lady?” He asked, a playful smile on his face as he performed an exaggerated bow. “A half for 20, perhaps?”
“I’ll take a half,” you said. “And..do you have any more of that Special K?
Eddie slowly looked up at you with a mischievous grin. “Yeah, back at the house. I’ll have to get it. I could bring it tomorrow.”
You shifted from your position, crossing the other leg, and Eddie just about combusted on the spot as he caught the slightest glimpse of your panties. Pink and lacy, exactly what he pictured you’d wear. It completely threw him off.
“Hello? Eddie?”
Your voice snapped Eddie back to reality. “Shit, sorry. What?”
“I said you could bring it tomorrow.” You smiled. “Or I could ride with you to get it then. I just can’t tonight because of practice…”
Eddie swallowed. You really wanted to ride with him back to his place? Alone? “Uh, okay, sure.”
You debated making your next move, wondering if it would be too far, but you went for it anyway. “So, Eddie…I was just wondering. Do you ever take any payment that’s not…money?”
Eddie furrowed his brows. “Like what? Sometimes my car guy does work for me in exchange for weed, but…” The look on your face told him that’s not what you’d been talking about. “Oh, jesus, no. You don’t have to do that. If you need me to spot you, I can-“
“But what if I want to?”
Eddie just stared at you. “You want to…?”
“Oh my god, Eddie.” You spread your legs, reaching for his waist and pulling him into you. Your hand dragged across his cock over his jeans, feeling him already hard and even bigger than you’d imagined. “Why don’t you just let me make you feel good?”
Eddie’s knees felt weak, his heart thundering in his chest as you pulled him close to you. This couldn’t be real, he had to be dreaming. In fact, he was pretty sure he’d had this exact dream before. His hands rested on your thighs to hold himself upright - god, your soft, bare thighs… He started to speak, stopping to clear his throat. “You really don’t have to do this-“
You squeezed his cock through the material, making him moan out loudly. “Does this show you how badly I want to do this?”
His voice cracked when he spoke. “I- yeah, I think I get the idea.” He looked around, like he was expecting someone to jump out from behind a tree and literally catch him with his pants down. “You’re- you’re fucking with me, right? This is all just a big joke?”
“Eddie, I would never do that,” you said earnestly. Your brows furrowed as you looked up at him. “Have you really never done this before?”
“I-“ Eddie backed up, even though it was the last thing he wanted to do. “No, I haven’t, okay? I’m not like that.”
“There’s nothing wrong with-“
“No, I know,” he said quickly. “I just…I haven’t.”
“Why not?” you asked again. “Are you into girls? Because it’s okay if you’re not-“
“Yes, I’m into girls!” Eddie rubbed a hand over his face, like he was frustrated. “I haven’t…done things like that before.”
“You haven’t done things like this, or you haven’t done things at all?”
Eddie was quiet. Then, finally- “At all.”
You reached for him, your hand grazing his. He startled at the touch, the electricity that shot through his body at the smallest feeling. “I don’t care if you’re a virgin, Eddie. I just want to make you feel good.”
He looked back at you, letting you pull him close again. “Why?”
“I’ve been…thinking about you,” you admitted.
“Thinking about me?”
“Stop being so coy,” you teased him. “Do you not know how hot you are?”
Eddie shook his head. “No one thinks that.”
“I do.” You said it easily, quickly. “I’ve been thinking about you nonstop. Thinking about all the things I want to do to you…all the things I want you to do to me…”
“Yeah?” He said, his voice low and breathless. “Like what?”
“Just thinkin’ about you, and what those long fingers can do,” you said, fingers trailing along his own. “About your mouth, your tongue.” You ran your hands down his chest. “About how big your cock is, how you’d use it…”
Eddie’s breath hitched in his throat. He could barely breathe when you talked like that. “You…you think those things about me?”
“Of course I do.” You brought his fingers up to your lips, gently pressing them there as you smirked up at him. Your tongue darted out and licked his fingertips and he groaned just under his breath. “I think about you all the time.”
“Why have you never, uh,” he cleared his throat again. “Never said anything before?”
You shrugged, continuing to tease the older boy. “Guess I just got the nerve up.”
Eddie scoffed. “You’re like the hottest girl in school. Why would you ever be afraid to ask someone out? Especially me?”
“You think I’m the hottest girl in school?” You smirked, placing his finger in your mouth and sucking on it. His knees buckled, his cock impossibly hard in his jeans at this point.
Your hands roamed down his chest until you reached his belt buckle. You looked up at him for permission, his heavy lidded gaze glued to yours. He nodded once, and you undid the belt, unbuttoning his jeans and pulling the zipper down painstakingly slowly.
Eddie whimpered as you freed his cock, the massive, thick length catching you by surprise. Eddie reached for the table to hold himself up as you wrapped your fist around it, slowly stroking him.
“H-oh,” he breathed out, hips jerking forward into your touch. His tip leaked precum already, the head a deep red and cock achingly hard. He twitched in your hold, telling you he wanted, needed more.
“Why don’t you lean against the table?” You offered, sliding off and leaving the room for him to sit.
“Yeah, yeah okay,” he said, moving to take your spot. He leaned against the wood, his long legs stretching to the ground. You sunk to your knees in the dirt in front of him, stroking him as you stuck your tongue out to lick his tip. He groaned again, knuckles turning white where they gripped the edge of the table.
You wrapped your plush lips around his cock and began taking him deeper down your throat. He cried out at the feeling, one of his hands moving to hold onto the back of your head.
“Oh, shit,” he moaned, head tilting back but not wanting to miss any part of what you were doing. “Fuck. Yeah, that’s…that feels nice…”
You swirled your tongue around the vein on the underside of his cock, paying extra attention to the head when you’d come up. He was a moaning, writhing mess above you as he thrusted his hips into your mouth, and you were pretty sure they would hear him up at the school if he kept this up.
“Oh fuck, oh fuck,” he whined, his chest heaving. “Shit, that’s so good.”
You brought a hand up to stroke the seam of his balls, and his stomach muscles clenched, his cock twitching in your mouth. You massaged them in your hand, and Eddie fell apart above you, his eyes rolling back in his head.
“Oh fuck, I’m gonna- gonna c-um, shit shit shit-“
That was all the warning you got before Eddie was shooting ropes of his cum into your mouth, down your throat, as he moaned loudly. It surprised you a little and you gagged at first, but swallowed every drop he gave you. You pulled off of him with a pop and he watched the spit trail connecting your lips to his cock.
“Jesus Christ,” he breathed when you stood, dirt tracks on your neat white cheerleading socks and your bare knees. He awkwardly tucked himself back away as you brushed the dirt off your skin. “Um…thank you?”
You giggled. “No problem…Did you like it?”
“Did I-“ he huffed a laugh. “I mean, you made my dreams come true, baby. That was pretty fuckin’ awesome.”
“Yeah? Your dreams came true?” You teased as you leaned forward, rubbing his thighs over his jeans. His eyes shamelessly lingered on your body.
“Fuck yeah,” he breathed.
“I liked it, too,” you hummed. “Made me sooo wet.”
Eddie’s eyes went wide. “Just from sucking me off?”
“Yeah,” you giggled. “It was hot.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“What, wanna see?” Eddie just watched you so you stood, turning around and bending over while lifting your tiny skirt over your ass. The small wet spot on your panties was visible from behind you, confirmed by the low groan Eddie let out.
“Christ,” he muttered.
“I feel bad I didn’t get to make you feel good,” Eddie said when you stood and returned to the table, sliding onto it next to him.
“Next time,” you promised him.
“There’s gonna be a next time?” He raised his eyebrows, like he expected this to be a one and done thing between you.
“Well, yeah,” you gently nudged his shoulder. “I don’t really just suck dick in the forest and move on with my life.”
Eddie laughed lightly. “That’s good for me then, I guess.” He snapped his fingers as a memory came back to him. “Oh! You’re coming to my place tomorrow? For the K?”
“Yeah,” you confirmed. “Why, you got something planned?”
He smirked but just shrugged. “Nah. Nothing planned.”
“I’ll take the half, though.”
“Oh, yeah.” He reached into his pail and pulled the baggie out. “I’d feel bad charging you for this now, but I also feel bad not charging you for it.”
You laughed - “I mean, I won’t complain if you don’t want to charge me this time.”
“Then it’s on the house,” he smiled at you. “Thanks again, by the way.”
“You don’t have to thank me,” you chuckled. “I wanted to. Believe me.” You stood from the table, shoving the baggie of weed into your bag. “I’ve got to get going…practice.”
“Oh, yeah.” Eddie seemed bummed to see you go, like he wanted to ask you to stay longer or tag along to watch you at practice. “You got extra, uh…socks?”
You looked down, sheepish grin on your face at the sight of the dirt. “Yeah. I do.” You turned as you began walking back to the school. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Ed!”
“Bye!” He called after you, feeling like a total idiot.
Back in the school, you shed your bag in your practice locker and changed into a clean pair of cheer socks. By the time you joined Chrissy in the gym, she was giving you a knowing smirk.
“And where were you?” She asked innocently. She definitely clocked the remaining dirt on your knees.
“Just…doing some shopping.”
“With Eddie?”
You blushed. “Maybe.”
“Oh my god,” she giggled. “…Was he a virgin?”
You gave her a look. “Not for long.”
Chrissy practically squealed with laughter, falling over backwards. As the coach came over and started practice, you focused, getting your mind centered on practice and not a certain big-dicked virgin metalhead. But as you performed your tricks, tumbling down the mat and flying as your teammates tossed you into the air, your mind was locked on big brown eyes only.
The next day, you had plans to meet Eddie after practice and go to his place. You headed into the gym in your uniform with your bag over your shoulder, ready to focus on your stunts, but you nearly tripped over your own feet when you saw Eddie sitting in the bleachers.
No one watched cheerleading practice besides a couple of the girls’ boyfriends, so it was a shock to see him there. And you knew he was there for you. He gave you a small wave as your eyes met his, and you couldn’t help laughing.
You went on with practice, performing your back handsprings and tosses as a flyer. Eddie watched the entire time, his attention fully on you. His eyes followed you everywhere you went, amazed by the stunts you were able to pull off. Every now and then he caught the slightest glimpse of your panties beneath your skirt, and that was enough for him.
After practice, you lingered until all your teammates were gone. Eddie watched you curiously, wondering what you were up to. Finally when the last of your cheer teammates had left, you nodded towards the locker room, and Eddie’s eyes widened, but he jumped up to follow you anyway.
Eddie trailed after you into the locker room, watching the sway of your hips and ass as you walked. It was deserted, all of your fellow cheerleaders having already showered and left. You stripped out of your uniform right in front of Eddie, pulling your top off and leaving yourself bare chested. Eddie’s eyes practically bugged out of his head, your bare tits on full display for his eyes. You took off your skirt and panties next, throwing them on the bench.
“Let me go take a shower, then we can go.”
Eddie watched as you turned and left towards the shower. His gaze dropped to the pile of clothes on the bench - particularly the pink panties beneath your skirt. He thought about it - really thought about it, because he’s not that much of a creep - but he snatched them, stuffing them into his jeans pocket.
A few minutes later you came back wrapped in a towel with one wrapped around your hair as well. He watched you, amazed, as you grabbed some clean clothes from your locker. You dropped the towel right in front of him and his eyes took in every inch of your body as you pulled on your underwear then a pair of jeans and a shirt.
“Ready to go?” You asked. Eddie had to shake himself out of his lustful stupor to answer your question.
“Yeah, let’s go.”
You followed him out to the parking lot, duffel bag over your shoulder. He led you to his van, opening the passenger door with a bow. “Ladies first.”
You climbed in with a giggle, buckling your seatbelt as Eddie shut the door for you. He climbed into the driver’s seat and started the van. You watched out the window and listened to Eddie’s heavy music as he drove to his trailer in Forest Hills.
“Welcome to my castle,” he said as he opened the front door of the trailer for you. You gave him a smile as you walked in, seeing the living room decorated with baseball caps, the kitchen littered with trash and dirty dishes. “Sorry, the maid took the week off,” Eddie said as he quickly cleaned up as much as he could. You didn’t mind.
“You can come back, if you want,” he said, pointing his thumb over his shoulder at the bedroom at the end of the hall. “It’s a mess, but…”
“It’s okay, I don’t mind,” you assured him.
You followed him into his room, taking a seat on his bed. He went searching through his stuff, finally surfacing with a baggie of powder clutched between his fingers. “Special K. Peaceful bliss, just moments away.”
You took it from him, passing him the money. You opened the baggie and collected some on your finger, bringing it to your nose to snort the powder. You held some out to Eddie, who snorted it off your finger as well.
A comfortable peace washed over your body quickly. You were feeling good as you laid back on the bed, the euphoria washing over you. Eddie laid on the bed next to you.
“This is some good shit,” you laughed. Eddie laughed, too, turning to you.
“You’re so hot, you know that?” He said, voice lowering as he looked over your body in his bed. “You are so fucking hot.”
You giggled. “You’re hot, too.”
“That’s not true,” he said, suddenly shy. “No one thinks that.”
“I do,” you said, your hand resting on the side of his face. “I think you’re so hot. And kind, and handsome, and funny and interesting.”
Eddie leaned closer to you. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” you agreed, and he was so close now his nose was brushing yours.
“You’re so fucking hot,” he told you as his lips moved closer and closer to yours. “My little slut. You liked sucking my cock out in the woods behind the school, didn’t you?”
“Mmhmm,” you hummed against him, his lips now grazing yours, pressing together in a needy kiss. “Loved sucking your cock. So fucking big, so sexy.”
Eddie moaned as he kissed you, his hand roaming your body, up your shirt and over your breasts. “Can I taste you, princess?”
“Hmm?” You hummed the question, mind hazy from his kisses.
“Can I taste you?” He asked again, lips moving down to nip at your neck. “Wanna taste that pussy, princess. I know it’s so good, so fucking sweet and wet. Please let me have a taste.”
“Okay,” you agreed as his kisses trailed lower, his lips moving down over your breasts and stomach, to your thighs. He settled himself between your legs, kissing all over your thighs and over your core through your light purple panties. He could see the wet spot on them, it made his mouth water with his desire to taste you.
He slid your panties down your legs, your pussy finally revealed to him. It was everything he imagined, so fucking hot, and bare all for him. He dove in, tongue sliding through your folds to taste you. You moaned, hand gripping into his wild hair as he devoured you.
Eddie didn’t exactly know what he was doing, but he was eager and excited and that made it even better. He teased your clit with his tongue, wrapping his lips around it and sucking lightly. Then he moved lower, tongue teasing your hole as his nose brushed against your clit.
You moaned, hips bucking up against Eddie’s mouth. “Feels so good,” you moaned, hands trailing over your nipples as Eddie ate your pussy like a man starved.
He started grinding his hips against the bed as he ate you, searching for friction against his hard cock. He rutted frantically against the bed, tongue buried in you as his cock throbbed in his pants, moaning into you as he neared release himself. All from the thought of what he was doing to you, the reality of having his face buried in your cunt, his rock hard dick rubbing against the comforter.
“Eddie, I’m g’na cum,” you moaned desperately as Eddie worked his tongue over your core even more, fingers pulling at his brown locks.
“Cum for me baby, please,” he begged, fully losing himself between your legs, tongue working against your pussy somehow expertly as your release neared.
“Oh fuck, oh fuck, Eddie! Oh god, Eddie!” You cried out as you came, hips bucking against his mouth as you rode out your orgasm on his tongue. He kept thrusting against the bed, but hearing you moan his name as you pulled his hair and grinded against his mouth set him off and then he was moaning, cumming in his jeans as you came down beneath his tongue.
He let you ride out your orgasm and then he pulled back, cheeks bright red and a wet spot on his jeans from where he came.
“Did you…?” You asked, looking down at his lap.
“Uh…yeah,” he said shyly, knowing there was no getting out of this with a lie.
You giggled, but there was no judgement behind it. “That’s pretty hot, honestly,”
“It is?” He asked, still blushing furiously. “I didn’t mean to, I just-“
“Couldn’t help yourself?” You trailed a finger down his shoulder, over his chest. He shuddered.
“Yeah,” he agreed. “I just…can’t help myself when I’m around you.”
It was flattering. You loved that he was so weak for you. It made you feel powerful. “You’re so sexy, Eddie.”
He trembled beneath your touch.
That night, when Eddie was alone, he pulled your panties from his pocket. He wasn’t sure if you hadn’t noticed him take them, or if you just hadn’t cared. But he had them, and now he was bringing them up to his nose, breathing in your scent with a groan. He unbuttoned his pants and took his cock out, wrapping the panties around his shaft.
He thought of you. He thought about you wearing these panties during cheerleading practice, the way you’d do your jumps and spread your legs for anyone to see. The way you looked him in the eye just before you did your splits, like you wanted him watching specifically.
He began stroking his cock with the panties wrapped around his length, thinking of you. He thought about eating your pussy, the way you had come undone beneath his tongue. The way you had tasted.
He moaned your name, imagining you were in the room with him now. Imagining you were here riding his cock, tits bouncing as you bounced on him, taking every inch of his dick. Eddie stroked his cock faster, his release approaching faster and faster.
He came to the thought of his cock disappearing into your tight little pussy, the thought of finally fucking you. The way you’d be so desperate for it, legs spread wide as he sunk into your cunt, tits bouncing when he snapped his hips into you. It was enough to send ropes of cum shooting over his fist and all over the panties and his thighs and stomach.
Eddie was down bad for you.
It was a couple of days later when you approached Eddie at school again. His face lit up when he saw you, frantically making room at the lunch table and pushing Gareth out of the way.
“What the fuck?” Gareth asked as Eddie shoved him to the side, but his eyes went wide in understanding when he saw you approaching.
“Hey, Eds,” you greeted him, hand sliding around his shoulders in a way that gave him goosebumps. He looked up at you adoringly, big brown eyes full of something like love.
“Hey,” he greeted you back. “What’s up?”
You leaned over so you were closer to him, leaning over the table with your cleavage in your uniform top right in front of his face. “Do you have any shrooms?”
“S-shrooms?” Eddie asked like he’d never heard the word, too distracted by what was in front of him. “Oh, yeah. I do. At the house.”
“Could I ride with you after school to get them…?”
Eddie swallowed, completely lost in a trance, forgetting about his friends at the table watching this whole interaction. “Yeah. Of course.”
“Cool,” you smiled. “I’ll see you after school then?”
“Yeah, sounds good.” Eddie’s gaze was locked on you as you walked away, that little cheer skirt so short he could just barely catch a glimpse of-
“Munson!”
Eddie snapped out of his you trance to rejoin reality and his friends trying to catch his attention. “What?”
“What the hell is that all about?” Gareth asked. “She’s been talking to you a lot lately.”
Eddie blushed, looking down at his tray of food. “It’s nothing.”
“Nothing? It doesn’t seem like nothing,” Jeff said. “Cheerleaders don’t just talk to us.”
“She just wants to buy some stuff. That’s all.”
The guys exchanged a look. “Soooo,” Gareth drew out the word, “are you gonna tell us who gave you all those hickies?”
Eddie froze, suddenly self conscious. He didn’t even realize they’d been noticeable. He pulled his leather jacket higher around his neck.
“Oh, come on, you can’t pretend we didn’t already see them,” Grant laughed. “Just tell us!”
Eddie looked around. “Okay, yes, it was her. But shut up! Don’t make a big deal out of it.”
The guys all buzzed with excitement, talking over each other as they leaned in closer to Eddie. “How the hell did that happen? What did you guys do? Tell us everything.”
Eddie shook his head. “Uh uh. No way. I’m not going to kiss and tell.”
“When I kissed Carla, you made me tell you everything!” Gareth protested. “Don’t be lame.”
“You kissed Carla Peters for 30 seconds in 7th grade,” Eddie reminded him. “I think we’re dealing with a difference in maturity level here.”
Gareth rolled his eyes. “Whatever,” he muttered. “I would tell you if I lost my virginity. It’s a momentous occasion.”
“I didn’t lose my virginity,” Eddie whispered. “…Yet.”
After school, Eddie watched your cheer practice again. The other girls took notice this time, giving you strange looks. You heard them whispering - “What is that Freak doing here? What a creep.” You felt kind of bad for subjecting him to the gossip of your teammates, but they all shut up when you left with your arm linked in his.
He led you to his van, opening the door for you once again. This time on the ride to his house you chatted, giggling at the jokes Eddie would make. He tried to give you a crash course on D&D, but it was all going over your head.
At the house he held the door open for you, and you slipped inside, taking a seat on his couch. “Um…I know I have those shrooms somewhere…give me a sec.”
You looked all around the living room as Eddie took off to his bedroom, searching through drawers and cabinets. You examined the wall of hats, all the different places they came from and things they represented. By the time Eddie came back with the baggie in his hand, you had just looked at the last one.
“Got ‘em,” Eddie said, handing you the bag. You slipped it into your purse. “Uh…do you want to stay and hang out?”
“Of course,” you smiled at him, watching as he sat down on the couch. You slowly walked over next to him, his eyes on the way your legs moved beneath your skirt. He sure was weak for the uniform, you noticed.
You stood in front of him, looking down at his nervous form. He looked up at you with wide eyes, like he didn’t know what to do with his hands as you stood over him.
You trailed your hands down his arms, reaching his hands and placing them on your hips. He gulped, like he was in shock. But his grip tightened on your hips, feeling the material of your cheer skirt under his hands, wanting to push it up and-
You climbed onto his lap, straddling him. Eddie accidentally let out a low groan, betraying just how far gone he was for you already. You could feel how hard he was, the bulge through his jeans pressing up against your core. You wanted him, so wet your panties were soaked. You needed him.
“Eddie,” you whined, moving your hips against him. He groaned again, grip tightening even more.
“You look so fucking hot,” Eddie said through a clenched jaw, like he was trying to hold himself together. “You’re…a fucking dream, Jesus Christ-“
You leaned in to kiss at his neck, biting gently and making Eddie groan again. His hands were holding onto you as tight as possible, like he was afraid you’d disappear.
“You can touch me,” you said, wanting him to. You wanted to feel his hands all over, wanted to feel him. Every part of him.
He let go of his death grip on your hips and slowly roamed down your thighs as you continued kissing his neck, feeling the bare skin of your legs. He remembered what it was like to taste you, and the thought only made him harder in his jeans. He wanted to do it again and again.
Next his hands moved up, slowly feeling your sides until he reached your tits. They filled his hands perfectly, making him moan as he massaged them. He was desperate to get his mouth on them, to wrap his lips around your nipples, to suck on them.
He reached down and pulled your cheer top up until he was dropping it on his living room floor. He fumbled with your bra clasp for a while before he was able to remove that, too. His eyes widened as he took in the sight of your naked tits, mouth watering. He dove in, wrapping his lips around your nipple and making you gasp.
“Eddie,” you moaned, pleasantly surprised at his boldness. He was learning fast.
“So fucking sexy,” he moaned as his tongue swirled around your nipple, the sensation sending chills through your body. “Can’t believe you’re on my lap right now. Pretty little princess has a thing for the Freak, huh?”
You giggled lightly, eyes closed as you enjoyed the feeling of Eddie’s mouth. “When the Freak is this hot…”
Eddie chuckled. His hands gripped your ass as he switched to the other breast. He guided your hips to grind against him, as if it was possible for him to get any harder than he already was. He’d never been this hard in his life.
You tugged on his shirt and he got the hint, leaning forward to pull it off. Your hands roamed his tattooed chest, feeling the muscles of his chest, the soft skin of his stomach.
“Do you want to take me to your room?” you asked him, your voice a mere whisper against his lips.
“Oh fuck yeah,” Eddie said, then you were squealing as he stood, lifting you up. He stumbled a little and you laughed, but he made his way down the hall to his bedroom, leaving the discarded clothes on the living room floor.
He carefully dropped you down onto his messy bed, landing with a giggle. He kicked his shoes off and quickly undid his belt. You watched as he unbuttoned and unzipped his jeans, shoving them down his legs. You could really see the size of his erection with nothing but his boxers on, and it was just as impressive as you remembered.
Next he slid your shoes off, leaving the white cheer socks in place. He slowly climbed up your body, pulling your skirt and panties down your legs. With you now fully naked, he looked at you wide eyed. “God, I can’t believe I’m about to fuck you.”
“Can’t believe you’re about to fuck me, or can’t believe you’re about to lose your virginity?” you teased with a laugh.
“Both,” Eddie smiled. He placed kisses all over your skin, his tongue darting out to taste every now and then. You were like a drug - he was utterly addicted to you already.
“Do you have a condom?” you asked him as he reached your lips again, kissing along your jaw and cheek before pressing his lips to yours.
“Uh, I do, actually,” he said sheepishly. “Gareth bought them for me as a joke. Now I guess joke’s on him, because they’re getting used well before he gets to touch a girl.”
You laughed at that - “Well, works out for us, I guess.”
Eddie reached over into the drawer of his bedside table, pulling the unopened box out. He felt a sense of pride as he opened it, pulling out one of the foil packets. This was really happening. He had a pretty girl naked in his bed. Finally.
You pushed his boxers down as he ripped the condom wrapper open with his teeth, sliding the rubber onto his cock just like he’d learned in health class. He was grateful Gareth got the biggest size as part of the joke - but it fit perfectly. Ha.
Eddie leaned over you with one arm by your head and the other between your bodies, pumping his cock a couple times as he lined it up at your entrance. He took a deep breath he hoped you didn’t notice, then he started pushing inside. You gasped at the intrusion, fingers gripping his bedsheets.
“Jesus, Ed,” you breathed, his cock nearly taking your breath away already.
“What?” he asked, stopping his movements. “Are you okay? Am I doing something wrong?”
“No, no,” you assured him. “You’re just fucking huge. But keep going, please.”
His ego properly stroked, he began sinking further into you. He was barely holding it together, a whimper involuntarily escaping from his lips. You were so unbelievably tight, hot, and wet…it felt better than his fist had on his best nights, and watching your face contorting in pleasure every inch he sunk into you was unreal. He had to shut his eyes to keep from cumming right that second.
He bottomed out, and you had never felt so full in your life. None of the guys you’d been with had been this big. Eddie reached down and spread your legs wide, holding them open as he pulled his hips back and snapped them back into you. He fucked into you quickly, filling you completely with every thrust.
“God, you- you’re so flexible, fuck-“
His pleasure-drunk rambling would have made you laugh if he wasn’t currently splitting you wide open with his cock, and looking unbelievably sexy while doing it. He threw his head back, long hair flying backwards. You raked your nails down his chest, making him moan loudly.
“Feels so good, Eddie, fuck, even better than my dreams-“
“You dream about me?” Eddie huffed a breathless laugh. “Fuck, princess, I dream about you too.”
You smiled and opened your mouth to speak just before a particularly hard thrust hit your bundle of nerves perfectly, making your back arch off his bed and the words on your tongue turn into a loud, high moan.
Fuck, the noises you were making were better than any porn he’d ever seen. He didn’t know how he was still going, he’d felt right on the edge since he got inside of you.
“Your pussy is fucking incredible, holy shit-“
Eddie’s hips stuttered into you, his rhythm faltering. He adjusted you into a mating press, fucking you wildly as the most pathetic yet sexy moans left his lips.
“Jesus Christ, Eddie,” you moaned, gripping onto his arms tightly. They were firmer and bigger than you expected, and you could feel his muscles contracting as he put all his effort into fucking you.
“I’m getting real close, baby,” he said, his voice strained. His arms were starting to tremble, his thrusts more frantic and needy. “But I need you to come first.”
You reached down between your sweaty bodies and rubbed circles on your clit, your body writhing beneath him. Eddie let out another pathetic moan at the sight, his rhythm faltering once again, his thrusts getting harder yet slower, hips snapping into you aggressively.
“Ohmygod, Eddie, Eddie, fuck! Yes yes yes, keep fucking me just like that-“
Your orgasm washed over you in a wave, hips grinding up against Eddie’s thrusts as you continued rubbing your clit. Your other hand pinched at your nipples, and the show sent Eddie reeling.
“I’m cumming, oh fuck, I’m…I-I love you! Shit-” Eddie cried out as he came, his eyes squeezing shut as his cum shot into you, filling you up with his spend. He held onto you tightly as he came, it felt endless, like he could cum forever. His body was trembling, hands shaking from their grip on your legs.
Your mouth dropped open in shock at his words, but Eddie didn’t process it until he came down from his high, breathing heavily on top of you.
“Oh, shit-“ Eddie said, sitting up and looking at you with a horrified expression. “I did not mean to say that, I don’t-“
You just stared at him, and then you burst out laughing. Eddie blushed a deep red as you laughed, but eventually he joined in. The two of you giggled together, you leaning your head on his shoulder.
“It’s okay, Eds. I’m not upset.” You held his hand, intertwining your fingers. “It’s a little early for that, but I like the sentiment.”
Eddie laughed. “I don’t know why I said that. It just came out.”
“The sex was that good?” you teased.
“Oh yeah.”
The next day at school, you stuck close by Eddie. You had decided to try dating, and you were unbelievably happy. You walked hand in hand, drawing the attention of absolutely every Hawkins High student. Chrissy’s jaw dropped when she saw the two of you, but then she gave you a bright smile - you knew she’d be in your corner no matter what.
You couldn’t keep your hands off each other. You had never felt so obsessed with a guy before, but you were head over heels for Eddie, and you didn’t care who knew or what anyone thought.
At lunch, you got your food and headed for the Hellfire table. You took a seat right next to Eddie, sharing the end of the table. Eddie beamed, putting his arm around you and pulling you into a kiss that was far too heated for the school cafeteria. His tongue slipped into your mouth, pressing against yours as he kissed you passionately.
The guys stared. Gareth looked at the others - “What the fuck?” he mouthed. Jeff just looked at him wide eyed, while Grant looked impressed. Mike and Dustin looked at each other, shocked.
When you finally pulled apart, you realized you had an audience. “Hi! I’m so sorry.”
Eddie didn’t look sorry at all. He looked happier than the guys had ever seen him. “Guys, this is my girlfriend,” he said with pride, introducing you by name.
The guys thought this had to be a joke. There’s no way you and Eddie had really hooked up, and there was no way you were together now. It made no sense. Yet here you were, all over each other like no one was watching.
You and Eddie shared your lunches with each other as you ate, the sickeningly sweet display holding the attention of every guy at the table.
No one said anything for a while, and you and Eddie were so caught up in your own little world, neither of you noticed. Finally, you got up to go get some napkins, and Gareth took his chance. He cleared his throat, and Eddie looked over at his best friend with a confused expression.
“Care to explain?” Gareth asked, the rest of the table watching on with interest.
“Explain what…?” Eddie asked, genuinely lost.
Gareth did a dramatic gesture towards you. “That.”
“What’s there to explain?” Eddie played with a piece of his food before popping it into his mouth. “She’s my girlfriend.”
“Since when?” Gareth asked. “What the fuck has been going on?”
Eddie looked at your figure from across the cafeteria before turning back to his friends. “Since last night. She came over and we…had a nice night, and I asked her to be my girlfriend.”
“Did you lose your virginity?” Grant asked, the only one of the group who seemed excited for his friend.
Eddie glanced at Mike and Dustin, who were lost in their own conversation now. He nodded, and Grant held out a hand for a high five, which Eddie sheepishly accepted.
“Did she buy from you?” Gareth asked.
“Yeah…why?”
Gareth looked around again before he spoke. “I just…you don’t think she’s only messing around with you for the drugs, right? Cheerleaders don’t talk to us, they definitely don’t sleep with us.”
His words set a fire in Eddie, making him absolutely furious. “What did you just say about her?”
Gareth had never seen Eddie so angry, like flames flickering behind his deep brown eyes. ”Nothing, man. I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
You came back to the table then, all smiles and totally oblivious to the tension at the table. “I got you some too, baby,” you said softly to Eddie, handing him a couple of napkins. Eddie gave Gareth another harsh look, but moved on.
When you’d finished eating, Eddie kissed you again, before leaning his forehead against yours. “Wanna get out of here, baby?”
You giggled. “Where to?”
“My van?” he proposed, voice low and seductive yet still fully audible to the rest of the table. Gareth pretended to gag.
“Sounds good,” you agreed with a mischievous smile, standing along with Eddie. He grabbed your hand as the two of you rushed from the building, leaving Eddie’s friends dumbfounded. Chrissy gave you a smile as you left, but her boyfriend, Jason, scowled and whispered something to his friends.
In the parking lot, Eddie opened his van, letting you climb inside before he joined you. In the back you immediately met in a heated kiss, pulling at each other’s clothes and touching each other everywhere.
You pushed Eddie’s jacket off before tugging at his shirt, smirking when he quickly pulled it over his head. He pulled your panties off, leaving your cheer skirt on. He quickly undid his belt and jeans and pushed them down just enough to free his cock.
“Turn over for me, baby,” he said, pumping his cock in his fist. “Want that cute little ass in the air, ready for me.”
You did as Eddie said, moving onto your hands and knees before lowering your upper half to the floor of the van. Eddie groaned at the sight, hands rubbing over the skin of your ass beneath your skirt. He hiked the skirt up around your hips, leaving you exposed to him.
“Do you have a condom?” you asked him.
Eddie froze. “Shit. No, I didn’t bring one.”
You thought for a moment. “It’s okay. I want you anyway.”
Eddie’s grip on your hips tightened. Are you sure, princess?”
“Yes,” you said, your voice assured. “I want it, Eds. I don’t care if you don’t have one, I need you in me.”
Eddie groaned, pressing his hard cock against you. He thrusted his hips lightly, grinding himself against your ass. “God, you’re going to be the death of me, princess. You’re fucking unreal.”
You felt him press against your pussy, sliding between your folds and collecting your wetness on his cock. The feeling was like heaven for him, the memories of being inside you came rushing back, making his dick throb. He had to have you again. And this time he’d get to feel you raw? The thought alone had his knees weak.
He pushed the head of his cock inside you, the stretch already too good. You both moaned as he filled you, inch by thick inch. When he bottomed out he wasted no time thrusting into you again and again, a quick pace rocking the van right there in the school parking lot for anyone who came outside to see.
The old van squeaked as it rocked back and forth with the power of Eddie’s frantic thrusting, the windows fogged up from the heat you two created together. He used his grip on your hips to pull your body back into him every time he thrusted into you, making them all the more intense.
He reached forward and pulled on your ponytail, jerking your head back and making you moan. “Eddie!”
“Oh fuck, you like that, baby? You want me to be a little rough?”
“Yes, fuck,” you moaned, eyes fluttering shut as he thoroughly pounded you from the back. When he suddenly pulled out you whimpered at the loss, but he quickly flipped you over.
Eddie sat up on his knees, throwing his shirt off before he pulled the handcuffs off his belt. Your eyes widened as he looped them through the bottom of the driver’s seat and attached them to your wrists, pinning them above your head.
The way your body stretched with your arms up like that was a sight to behold. It put your tits on full display, his hands grabbing for them the second he started fucking into you again. The angle he had your hips with him up on his knees was intoxicating, his cock hitting your bundle of nerves with every thrust.
“Please, Eddie, harder,” you begged, your voice a whiney moan. Eddie obliged immediately, the slapping noise of your skin meeting filling the space.
“Fuck, look so pretty like this, princess,” he huffed, out of breath from his vigorous movements and the heat you were creating in the stuffy van. “Never thought you’d be tied up in the back of the freak’s van, taking his cock and begging for more, huh?”
No, you didn’t. You were just as surprised as anyone at your current situation.
“You’re so good, too,” Eddie moaned. “Your pussy is so perfect. Fits my cock just right. I’m so deep in you, baby, fuck!”
Eddie was struggling to hold it together, the feeling of you wrapped around him without the barrier of the condom was almost too much to bear. He spread your legs wide and leaned over you, burying his face in your neck.
He whimpered into your neck as he fucked you, his shallow thrusts quick and desperate. He wrapped his arms around you, holding you tightly to his sweaty body. You wrapped your legs around his waist, holding him even closer. It was so intimate, and Eddie was losing it.
He cried out as his orgasm hit him unexpectedly, hips rutting against you as he pumped all his cum inside, balls tightening, giving you everything he had. He moaned your name again and again, shuddering on top of you.
As he came down and pulled out of you, freeing you from the handcuffs, he realized you didn’t get to finish. “Oh, shit, baby. I’m so sorry. Let me make it up to you-“
“Eddie, it’s really okay,” you giggled, not upset at all. “I still enjoyed myself. I don’t have to- oh!”
Eddie cut you off by diving between your legs, his tongue licking between your folds. He could taste himself where his cum leaked out of you, but he didn’t mind. You had never experienced anything like this before.
You moaned, writhing beneath his tongue, pulling on his long, soft hair. He devoured you, tongue moving up to flick over your clit before wrapping his lips around it and sucking. His tongue was so long and so talented, he’d never done anything with a girl before you and you knew this, but you would never have guessed by the way he ate pussy.
Eddie moaned against you, slipping two of his fingers inside as his mouth focused on your clit. He pumped them in and out of you much like he’d fucked you, and it wasn’t long before you were clenching around his fingers, moaning little “Eddie! Eddie! Eddie!”s as you got closer and closer.
You came on his tongue, pulling hard on his curls and nearly screaming his name. If anyone was out in the parking lot, they’d know exactly what you were doing and who was doing it to you.
Eddie kept his movements up until you were pushing him away, overstimulated. He moved back up your body and kissed you hard, both of you smiling against each others’ lips.
Eddie tucked his spent cock away back in his jeans and collapsed against the wall of the van, still shirtless. You pulled your panties back on, straightening your uniform. “Do you wanna smoke?”
“Sure,” Eddie agreed easily, reaching into the front and pulling out an already rolled joint. He sparked it up with his lighter and took a drag, passing it to you.
As you smoked together, laughing and talking, Eddie felt like he was completely in love. But in the back of his head, Gareth’s words stuck with him, nagging. He didn’t really think you were only with him for the drugs, he was pretty sure you felt the same way about him as he did about you. Yet something about it wouldn’t leave him alone.
After practice and dressed comfortably in a t-shirt and soft short shorts, you walked to Eddie’s van with his arm around you. Your teammates gave you strange looks, but you didn’t care. You were happy.
“Hey!” You heard Chrissy’s voice calling your name as you were just leaving the building. You and Eddie both turned.
“Hey,” you greeted her with a smile. “What’s up?”
Chrissy looked awkward, uncomfortable. “Can I talk to you for a sec?”
“Sure.” You looked up at Eddie and he smiled at you, bending down and placing a kiss to your lips. “Be right back.”
You followed Chrissy back into the locker room, which was deserted. Chrissy sighed, pacing back and forth.
“What’s up, Chris?” you asked, worried.
“It’s just…” She fiddled with her fingers. her nerves obvious. Like she was doing something she didn’t want to be doing. “Jason doesn’t like that you’re seeing Eddie.”
You blinked at her. Then, a laugh. “Chris, I love you to death, but I don’t really give a fuck what your boyfriend thinks.”
She winced, like she knew that was exactly what you were going to say. “Yeah, but…” She sighed again. “Jason thinks that it ruins the image of the cheer team. He thinks as long as you’re dating Eddie, you shouldn’t cheer. And he got the coach to agree.”
You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. Your heart beat loud in your ears, your hands starting to shake. “What?”
Chrissy looked pained. “I know. I tried to talk to him-“
“Why does Jason Carver have any say over who’s on the cheerleading team?” you asked, getting worked up. “This is bullshit. I’m team captain! And what’s wrong with Eddie? Besides that he’s a little different?” You scoffed. “You guys are so close minded it’s sickening.”
Chrissy looked as if you’d struck her. “It’s not me, I promise. I tried. But everyone else agreed.”
You felt sick to your stomach. You hadn’t felt as happy as you do with Eddie in…well, ever. You couldn’t choose between two things you loved.
Loved?
“I’ve got to go,” you said, shaking your head. “Maybe try to talk to your boyfriend again. Because mine hasn’t done anything wrong.”
You turned and left, catching up with Eddie. He wrapped his arm around you again with a smile, but he could tell something was wrong. “What happened, baby?”
“Nothing,” you said. You didn’t want to talk about it or make Eddie feel bad. And you were sure it wouldn’t really happen - right?
At Eddie’s trailer, it looked like he had cleaned up for you. He seemed nervous, even as you fell to the couch with lips locked together in a passionate make out session. His hand was under your shirt, grasping at your tits.
“Need you again,” he mumbled hurriedly as he pulled your shirt over your head. “Need to be inside you.”
“You sure no one will be home?” you asked, giggling as he leaned forward and kissed at your tits.
“Yeah. My uncle’s at work, we’re fine.”
He pulled your shorts and panties down before shoving his own jeans and boxers down. He spread your legs wide, neither of you caring about a condom this time. He sunk into you, snapping his hips into you wildly. He was desperate for you, no matter how many times he had you.
He groaned loudly, face in your neck again while he pounded into you. Your nails scratched down his shoulders, eyes rolling back at the bliss he was providing with nothing but his cock.
You were so caught up in each other that neither of you heard the key in the front door, or the door opening. However you did hear the shocked gasp that had Eddie pulling out of you in a hurry, covering your body with a throw pillow and yanking his jeans up.
“Jesus, Ed!” the older man exclaimed, covering his eyes. “On the couch??”
“Sorry, shit, sorry! What are you doing here?” Eddie buckled his jeans back up as you hurriedly redressed yourself. “I thought you’d be gone all night!”
“Forgot my lunch,” the man said, his voice gruff. “‘n just because I work nights doesn’t mean you can…do that in the living room, for god’s sake, Ed.”
“Sorry,” Eddie said again, his cheeks bright red. “You can uncover your eyes, we’re okay.”
The man cautiously lowered his hand, looking at the two of you. “I didn’t even know you had a girlfriend.”
Eddie chuckled. “It’s new. Baby, this is my Uncle Wayne. Wayne, this is my girlfriend.” He introduced you by name, and Wayne gave you a friendly smile.
“Well, strange way to meet one another, but glad to meet you,” Wayne said.
“You too,” was all you could offer.
When Wayne grabbed his lunch and left again, you slapped Eddie on the arm. “You said you knew we’d be alone!”
Eddie laughed, dodging you. “How was I supposed to know he’d forget his lunch and come back?”
You supposed he had a point. You couldn’t stay mad at him - not that you really were to begin with. You cared deeply about Eddie, and you wanted to be with him. You just hoped that wouldn’t keep you from being on the cheer team.

CHAPTER 26
“So, how is everything there, honey?”
Your mother's voice was comforting, to say the least, and all you wanted was to hug her. You felt the tears slowly coming back to you as your chest started heaving a bit at the memory of what happened the night before.
“I– I told the worst guy ever what happened.” You could see your mother's side on the other side of your screen. Your walls were broken, your privacy shattered, a story you never wanted out, at least not yet.
“Was it that… long-haired guy?”
“Yes– Yes, and it was so… It was so liberating, but why him?” Your voice cracked as you remembered everything you said inside that elevator, but your sobs started going down when you remembered how he let you hit him. How he let you strike him as many times as you wanted, and you stopped at two. Your mom waited patiently, seeing you calm down slowly.
“Did he push you? Force you to talk?” You blinked a few times, wiping your tears away, shaking your head at her.
“No… But I just got so tired…”
“You exploded… You should have told your friend.” You rolled your eyes at your mom, but she was right. You should have told Robin about your past a long time ago, but now Eddie Munson knows it first. The guy you absolutely despise knows your life story now.
“I hate him… But he is not a bad guy.” You confessed, and your mother nodded in understanding, a small smile on her face.
“Maybe your relationship changes from now on, and maybe he isn’t that much of an asshole as you say he is.” She giggled, and you huffed, shaking your head.
“I doubt it.”
Your eyes fluttered open slowly, the grogginess of sleep invading you as you woke up. You felt warm, as if you had a personal furnace sitting right next to you. Or behind you. The warmth was on your back and wrapped around your middle.
You looked down to see tattooed arms around you, holding you close against a chest. Strong breaths were being puffed against the back of your neck, making the hairs of your arms stand up when a child ran down your spine. You could smell him as he softly snored behind you, and you felt safe. You felt warm. Protected.
And the giddiness suddenly got to you. You’re with Eddie. You’re officially with Eddie. You were no longer just friends with benefits; you two were together, together. You two were dating. He was yours, you were his. No longer just exclusive for sex, but because there was a serious relationship now. A serious relationship with a man that you knew wanted the same things you did in the future.
You needed to tell Robin. Fuck you couldn’t wait. You couldn’t wait to get out of this bed and tell your best friend, and then everyone else, and you couldn’t wait for their reactions. What were they going to say? Were they going to be angry for hiding it, or were they going to congratulate the two of you and be happy? You were no longer the only single people in the group, and the funny part was that you got together with each other.
Would Robin jump and down like you wanted to do so badly now? You had to tell your mom, but your mom didn’t know you were actually seeing Eddie; she just knew you were seeing some dude, so what would she think of this? What would she think of him?
“Stop wiggling your ass like a happy puppy, or you’re going to be in trouble.” His voice knocked you out of your little dreamland, and you hadn’t noticed that out of your happiness and excitement, you had been wiggling unconsciously. His voice was raspy, laced with sleepiness that he was starting to shake off second by second.
You bit your bottom lip, turning your head over your shoulder, your eyes meeting with his closed eyelids.
“Morning.” You whispered softly, feeling your heart about to burst at its seams, and you felt your throat closing up on you. For some reason, it still felt unreal. You weren’t sure why, but you were now dating Eddie, when a year back, you couldn’t stand to see his face. Now you were sure you cannot live without seeing those eyes at least once a day.
Said eyes slowly started making an appearance. A thin line first before he yawned and blinked slowly, trying to wake himself up a little more. His grip tightened around your body, and it looked as if he were trying to focus and center on your face. He groaned and whined playfully as he cuddled even more against you, his nose into your neck.
“I don’t wanna get up…” You couldn’t help the giggle that escaped your lips, feeling your entire body enter a state of bliss. You wanted to see him. You wanted to properly greet him this morning. You wiggled in his arms, turning around as best as you could, making him groan in warning this time because you brushed your ass against his bare front.
“It’s a Sunday…” You whispered, and he hummed in delight. His hands were now all over your back, pulling you into him, and you felt entirely safe in these arms. You sighed in contentment, closing your eyes as you snuggled up into him. You took a deep breath of his scent in and you heard him huff.
“You creep, stop smelling me.”
“Can’t stop, won’t stop.” You made an obnoxious inhaling sound, very exaggerated, with your nose against his Adam’s apple. He laughed, and he moved his face away from yours, making you pout. “I wasn’t done smelling…”
His eyes were tender, sleepy, but you could still see the happiness shining in them. You expected yours to look just the same. He suddenly rolled over you, making you gasp, and he started sniffing you all over like a dog. He was huffing, letting out sharp breaths, and even panting like one. You were giggling and squealing each time his scruff tickled you, or his breath, even more when they passed all over your neck.
“You smell–” Sniff. Sniff. “Like something delicious. Something precious.” He mimicked Smeagol from Lord of the Rings, which fully woke you up, making you laugh in disgust. “Me likey.”
“Of course you do. You are the creep, not me!” He pulled away from you, pouting. He was adorable. How could a man like this be adorable?
“I am not a creep. I just like your smell, is that so bad? Didn’t you like my smell too?”
“But I ain’t acting like a dog!” You exclaimed, and he squinted at you for a few seconds before letting out a playful bark. You laughed, and he smiled down at you, making this morning perfect in every shape and way possible.
He waited for your laugh to slow down before moving down and capturing your lips in a soft kiss. Your breathing hitched, stopped for a second, and then your right hand moved to the back of his head to hold on to him, kissing him back. Overly domestic, overly cheesy, but you loved it.
When he pulled away, his left hand came to brush against your cheek, which only made your head feel dizzy. What had Eddie Munson done to you? What kind of drug did he inject you with to be this obsessed with him?
“Morning, Peach.” You pouted a bit, and he tilted his head with a smile. “What?”
“You called me something else last night…” He hummed at your response, and you could see how he was trying not to smile widely, his dimples clenching on him from the force.
“Oh? What was that? Mmm… Honey?” You shook your head, still with the pout on your lips. “Not Honey? Darling? I always say that one…”
“You called me that before, and now I can admit I’ve always liked it.” You said softly, and he stuck his tongue out to the corner of his mouth, and squinted his eyes, as if deep in thought.
“Mmm… What’s the first letter?”
“Now you’re being mean…”
“I’m not being mean, baby.” He smirked as he saw your eyes lock with his at the pet name. The pet name that would definitely state what you were to him in front of everyone. “Oh, was it ‘baby’?”
You whined at the teasing, but you loved it. You pouted your bottom lip at him, and he chuckled, leaning down to kiss it away before dipping his head towards your pulse point, kissing it softly. A soft sigh escaped your lips as you closed your eyes at the sensation.
“Eds…”
“Cute.” He pulled away, and his eyes found yours before talking again. “So, when’s our anniversary?”
Your heart jumped out of your chest at the question. It was unbelievable. Maybe you should pinch yourself somehow because it was almost like a dream. Eddie, though, looked quite serious with the question, and you remembered that this was a man who had never had a formal relationship before. It was your turn to tease now.
“Our anniversary? Of what?” You innocently asked, and his eyebrows raised up in surprise.
“Uh… us?”
“Us? Like our… first fuck? Or what do you mean?” He was perplexed, looking down at you as if you had gone crazy. You wanted to laugh because he was clearly not getting the joke at all.
“I– Was what happened yesterday night a dream? Am I going crazy?”
“What happened?” You were playing innocent, your voice high-pitched on purpose, and his eyes started to squint your way, as if knowing you were up to something.
“What we talked about…? Making it official?” Your gut turned in giddiness, and you frowned as if confused.
“We made it official?”
He tilted his head to the side, and it took him a few seconds before he huffed and sat back on the bed, crossing his legs and arms, glaring at you. You giggled, sitting up too, the same way, so he knew you weren’t backing out of your joke.
“Are you seriously going to make me ask? What are we, fifteen?”
“Ask what, Munson?” You shrugged as if you had no clue what he meant. His mouth fell in disbelief, and you wanted to cackle at it. He looked so comical right now. You two were completely naked, looking at each other, limbs crossed and hairs a mess, would be hard not to laugh at it. He squinted a bit before a smirk plastered on his lips.
“Well… then, you ask me.” You raised an eyebrow at him.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me. We were never a conventional pair; let’s keep it that way. You ask me to be your boyfriend.” Your mouth fell open, and you couldn’t believe how he turned this against you. His eyes were shimmering with amusement at your reaction, and you turned your head away from him.
“Then, no anniversary.” Suddenly, you were tackled into the bed again, your face being peppered in kisses that made you giggle, feeling the warmth of his body all over you. His hair was all over your face, making you do spitting noises each time you felt a bit of hair get into your mouth. “Stop!”
He stopped and looked down at you, playful, yet serious, and filled with an emotion that just made your limbs turn into Jell-O. The room just felt like a cocoon of comfort, of life, and you didn’t want to get out of it anytime soon.
“Well, if it wasn’t obvious, Peach, you became my girlfriend. So yes, anniversary, and I declare it was yesterday. Happy?” You couldn’t help the smile that broke on your lips, same as his did. You nodded at him and pecked his lips softly, only to then smirk.
“Yeah, I know. I just wanted you to say it out loud, admit you’re crazy for me and all that.” You mocked him with his exact words from yesterday, making his jaw fall in surprise. You copied his surprised face, once again making fun of him, and then you were tickled on the side, making you choke on a giggle.
If this was what life was going to be with Eddie, fuck, you regretted hating him for an entire year. You couldn’t believe this man, who was a menace to you before, now acted this way. You couldn’t believe YOU acted this way. This domestic. This clingy. This possessive.
“Now, who is the mean one?” He squinted a bit, and you shrugged, playing coy. He chuckled, and then his eyes seemed to look to the side, as if in thought. Your smile fell a little at the seriousness that took over his features.
“What is it?”
“I…” He choked up a bit on his words, surprising you. You felt something twisting in your stomach, like something was wrong. “Now that we’re together… I– I think that you need to know about something, Peach.”
Your breathing stopped. This was probably about his condition, whatever that could be. You were curious, but he seemed disturbed by it. He couldn’t even look you in the eyes. He seemed… scared. There was definitely fear in those eyes, and in the shakiness of the tip of his fingers.
“Okay, I am listening, Eddie…” You reassured him, and he sighed, shaking his head as his voice started becoming slightly choked up.
“I– It just… It’s something…”
You noticed he couldn’t find the words. You were nervous now, wondering what it could be for him to be this affected by it. Was he judged for having an illness before? You wouldn’t be surprised, the world you all lived in today was fucked in many ways. But physically, Eddie didn’t seem to have any illness at all, so it couldn’t be that he was bullied or made fun of or judged because of physical features.
But he was scared shitless, which made you feel the exact same level of fear. Whatever the condition was, he didn’t talk about it often, you now realized. Should you tell him to not tell you anything? Should you stop him, and let him know he could tell you when he truly felt ready? No, you really do want to know because you worry for his health. You worry it’s something he might need help with. Something you need to know in case there’s an emergency.
“Baby, you can tell me…” You softly brushed a hair of his behind his ear, and his eyes finally found yours. He was starting to breathe heavily, his nostrils flaring as he looked into your pupils. His jaw clenched and unclenched, his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down with nerves, and your worry only increased.
“I… I–”
Your phone started ringing out of nowhere. You frowned and looked to the side at the same time Eddie did. You shook your head and looked back at him, deciding to let it ring. You couldn’t be interrupted, not now.
“Eds, let it ring–”
“It’s your boss.” You frowned again, this time confused. Liana never called you during weekends. He immediately rolled over and laid on his back as you reached for the phone, seeing Liana’s name on the screen. You sat up as you answered.
“Liana?”
“Hey! I am so sorry for calling you, but– I know you have been absent because of a family loss, and I know it’s a Sunday, but I need you.”
Worry settled in your gut when you heard the heaviness of her voice. She was clearly rushing somewhere, and with that belly of hers, it was probably no easy task. That’s why she probably needed your help, the question was why.
“What do you need help with? Did something happen?” Meanwhile, Eddie was using his elbow for support as he rested his head on his palm, his left hand running over your thigh.
“Jean Paul Gaultier’s VP is literally in town for just this weekend. He called me just an hour before, embarrassed for doing so, but he wanted to meet up with me to discuss a campaign. This is important because we rarely have vice presidents coming in for these deals!”
Your heart was beating rapidly in your chest, and your excitement grew as you heard the insane opportunity at hand. You grabbed Eddie’s hand with happiness, and he was stunned at the action, but he held it and let you shake him back and forth in your giddiness.
“That’s fucking amazing, Liana! What do you need me for, though?”
“It’s a great opportunity for you to know how to interact with important clients. It’s also good, because you will manage this campaign when I’m gone, so they will know who to contact if something urgent were to happen. But the meeting is today, in an hour.” Your eyes widened, heart plummeting to the floor as you turned to look at Eddie.
“Today? Can’t he… stay one more day, and we can do the meeting tomorrow?” Liana sighed, calling your name almost in a reprimand.
“This position of mine is amazing and great, pays beautifully, but it also means you won’t have as much peace as you had before.” You sighed, gulping as you looked at Eddie with a sad frown on your eyebrows. He immediately sat up, noticing the distress, and he shook his head, mouthing ‘Don’t worry’.
“Okay… Okay… I will be there… You think the meeting will be long?”
“Well, we’ll first get to know each other, establish a nice relationship, before jumping into a deal. So, we might take some hours.” You bit your bottom lip, and you cursed at everything and everyone in life. You were regretting saying yes to this position, but you also didn’t. You were going to meet with Jean Paul Gaultier for fucks sake, but Eddie–
“Alright. Send me the details in a message, and I’ll meet you there.”
“Thank you! I can barely breathe and talk because of the heats, so you would help me a lot if you could do most of the talking, darling.” You couldn’t say you understood, but you knew about the heats she was talking about. You had some maternity classes when doing your fertility treatments, after all.
“Sure, I’ll see you in an hour, Li.” She said goodbye, and you hung up the phone, looking at Eddie, who chuckled, frowning a bit as he thought.
“I heard, Jean Paul Gaultier? Isn’t that the brand that makes those body-shaped perfumes?” Your eyes widened in surprise because you didn’t think Eddie would know about that.
“Um, yeah. How–”
“Steve. He loves collecting perfumes. Imagine my surprise when he gifted me one, and it was the body of a man, bulge and all.” You giggled at that, shaking your head at his childishness. You then frowned again, grabbing his hand.
“I’m sorry… You were going to tell me something important…” He shrugged and leaned forward to press a soft kiss on the tip of your nose.
“Don’t worry… It can wait. Really.” His voice was soft and reassuring, letting you know there really was no problem with you going out for a few hours.
“We could continue tonight? I really want to know what you have to tell me…” You saw him gulp at your words, noticing the nerves etched on his face. He nodded once.
“Yeah… We got time for that.” You sighed in defeat and nodded, looking down at your phone, and your eyes widened, jumping off the bed.
“Shit! One hour! One hour to make myself presentable and hide all the fucking hickies you left!” You heard your boyfriend plopping on the bed, turning to see him with his hands behind his head, looking at you.
“Don’t you dare cover those up.” You rolled your eyes, not noticing how serious he was about that statement, but you preoccupied yourself with looking for your clothes. You grabbed the bag you brought to Eddie’s, selecting the most formal outfit you could. He watched your every move, a smile on his face, which you were not aware of.
“God, what am I even going to say! I– Fuck, I need to think of what we’ll talk about, and the project, and, fuck, fuck, fuck–” You were hit with sudden nerves as you thought about the possibilities this meeting would bring to you professionally. This was not just the secretary of the secretary, of the administration of the management of Jean Paul Gaultier. This was the vice president.
“Hey, hey, hey.” You heard Eddie call you, and you turned around to see him putting on his boxers and walking your way. His hands came to rest on your shoulders, and he mimicked a deep breath in, so you copied him, inhaling and exhaling slowly. “You’ll do great. That’s why Liana trusts you so much.”
“Yeah, but what if I don’t do great?” He chuckled, rolling his eyes your way.
“Yeah, you messing up all the time is what got you a CEO training and future position.” His encouraging words, even if sarcastic, managed to calm your erratic heart, and he pressed a soft kiss at the top of your head. “Tell you what. You’ll nail that interview, and I will be here waiting for you with Mexican food.”
You gasped in delight at the thought, wrapping your arms around his shoulders with a smile. You peppered his face in kisses, finally getting to do it without worrying if he would think it was too much. By his laughter, you guessed he enjoyed the attention, as well as his hands gripping your hips in a tight hold.
“Okay, I will get that deal. Just for the tacos.” He smiled and gave your lips a soft kiss before pulling away to let you keep getting dressed. You didn’t notice where he was going, too busy trying to fix yourself in his mirror. You also had to brush your teeth and do some of your makeup, and cover the cannibalism Eddie had done to your neck.
“Peach.” You were brought out of your thoughts as you turned around, brush in hand. Your eyes fell on the glistening key that was in his hand. You felt the butterflies in your belly resurface, flying all about in a crazed state, realizing what he was giving you. “Here.”
“Eddie…” You whispered as you got hold of the copy of his front door. Your eyes found his, and you noticed the blush spreading on his cheeks as he tried to cover it by pulling his hair in front of his face.
“Had it for a while… I just… I don’t know how this goes, is it too much? Too early? You’re just– just here all the time, so–” You interrupted his nervous rambling by getting on your tippy toes and pressing a kiss to his lips. You couldn’t feel any happier even if you could. There was no way. This day exceeded all the thoughts and dreams you had. You weren’t expecting the key to his house at all, and this just meant how deep you two were in.
“Thank you for trusting me…” You whispered into his lips, and he sighed, pecking you once again as his arms wrapped around you. “I will do a copy of mine for you too…”
“You don’t have to.”
“I want to…” He smiled softly, holding your gaze for a little longer as his hands pressed against your back. Such a big step. Two dynamics have changed so badly in less than 24 hours.
You really could not wait to tell Robin.
Three hours. A three-hour meeting.
It was nerve-wracking. You were nervous most of the time because that man was rich, a millionaire, having a croissant with you and your boss, who barely had money to start saving up for a house.
It was an hour of making small talk, getting to know one another, and then it was business time. They want their new designs for the winter collection to have four to seven full pages in your magazine. At this point, it was a catalogue for events and famous people. They would use your magazine to browse their favorite designs, and then contact the designers to get them for important galas or events.
You managed to strike a very good deal, and you were going to be the head of the project. You would have to look for models, artists and photographers, and get the campaign going, but you couldn’t be more proud of yourself. You made good friends with the man too, so you were headed in the right direction.
Now, alone with Liana in the limousine she rented for this meeting, you could finally sigh out of relief and lie back on the seat. Your boss smiled as she rubbed her belly, patting it gently.
“Well, that was a success!”
“Yeah, it surprisingly was.” You chuckled, and Liana shook her head, scooting closer to you.
“No, I was right when I chose you as my replacement. There was no such surprise. No one could have pulled a good deal like you just did. You got us earnings if someone wants a design from the posts in our magazine! No designer ever agrees to that.” You smiled at the praise, knowing you did, in fact, do a good job. It was alright to feel proud of yourself, so you nodded.
“Yeah, I am that bitch.” Liana laughed at your joke and then she also lay back on the seat. She took a deep breath in before turning her head to look at you.
“You alright? After this week?” You didn’t want to lie to her. She had been the closest you had to a second mom in this city, ever since you moved. You felt attached to her, so the least you could do was be honest.
“It wasn’t… from my side. My boyfriend… He lost his uncle, who was basically his father figure, and he– He needed me, Li.” Your boss’s eyes widened as she straightened up with a grunt because of her belly, facing you entirely.
“Boyfriend!? Since when did you get a boyfriend!?” You couldn’t help the smile spreading on your lips as you looked at her. You could feel your body flushing all over with heat as you felt happiness invade your brain once again.
“I– Since yesterday… actually…” She tilted her head with confusion, trying to, what it looked like, do calculations in her head.
“But– You asked for the week off, and you–” She gasped, pointing a finger at you, then covering her mouth with a shocked gasp. “Oh my god, I– I called you on your first morning as an official couple!?”
“It’s okay, really… We had been… seeing each other for months now, and– We finally talked yesterday after an entire week of living together and… well…” You smiled widely at her, not even trying to hide your giddiness. She sighed happily as she smiled your way, giving you a small nod.
“I’m happy for you… Um… he is not like… You know…” She winced a bit, and you shook your head, sitting up straight. You knew she was asking if he had the same thoughts and ideals as Billy did.
“No, no… He has been in my friend group since I moved here. We clashed for an entire year until we finally opened up to one another, and well… one thing led to the other.” Liana awed at your explanation, and you shook your head, snorting at her.
“Well, I hope he treats you right.” You nodded, your grin still plastered on your face.
“I don’t doubt he will.” Liana patted you on the shoulder with encouragement, and then she fanned herself a little bit as the heat got to her once more.
“I really do need my bed… Do you want me to drop you off at your house?” You immediately shook your head, your nerves and your excitement to see your boyfriend winning over as you gave her his address.
In the ride, you told her in short detail about your relationship. She listened and was shocked to learn you were dating someone you almost beat the shit out of. You talked highly of Eddie, of how protective he is, how caring, how sensitive when he lets himself be, how hard headed he could be.
Liana was also shocked when she saw you stop at a mechanic’s shop, and you explained that his house was on the second and third floors. She hummed with approval and let you go with a kiss on the cheek. Your eyes drifted to the moving belly as she complained one more time, and you didn’t feel hopeless for the first time in a while.
You felt anxious, yes, but filled with excitement about what Eddie could bring into your life. You knew that he wanted a family; he even promised to give you a baby when the two of you were just friends with benefits, and now, as a couple… Maybe that baby could come sooner than waiting for you two to be thirty.
You shook your head from the running thoughts and the images that started conjuring up in your mind. The small domestic scenes that were suddenly displayed were a bit frightening when you two had just become official less than 24 hours ago. You walked up the stairs behind the building, going up to his front door, and you looked excitedly into your purse, finding the key.
You bit your bottom lip and slowly opened the door. The blinds were still down in the living room, so that meant that Eddie did not come downstairs. You frowned as you closed the door behind you, looking upstairs.
“Eds? I’m back!” You waited for a response, only to receive nothing in return. You walked more into the living room, and you saw the small bathroom’s light turned on in the small hallway next to the kitchen. You walked towards it to see that the cabinet was open and things were thrown on the sink.
Your heart started dropping, and suddenly your gut was telling you that something was wrong. Something was not right. Maybe Eddie went out? Maybe he was looking for some painkillers and didn’t find any, so maybe he was not home? You grabbed your phone from your back pocket, walking back into the living room and kitchen area, and messaged him
‘Where are you?’
You heard vibrations coming from the coffee table, and you frowned, walking towards it. Eddie’s phone rested there, lighting up with your message. The hairs on your arms stood in alarm as your head snapped towards the stairs.
“Eddie?” You called again, and this time you heard a thump. You dropped your purse as you felt adrenaline rushing through you, running up the stairs as quickly as you could, feeling your heart about to burst in your chest. The first thing you saw was the bathroom door open, and things were dropped onto the floor, and then into the hallway.
You walked towards it to see the cabinet also open, and that empty flask on the sink was shattered into pieces, no liquid in sight. You turned around and rushed to the door of his room, but you were frozen in place at the doorway when you saw the scene before you.
The drawers were pulled open, clothes a mess as if he were looking for something desperately. The drawers of the night tables, the desk, all of it was open. Papers were scattered around, as well as his bags, but the worst sight was him.
He was breathing heavily, sitting on the floor at the foot of the bed, his back against the frame. He was sweating, still in his boxers, and he looked like he couldn’t breathe. He was choking on his breaths, gulping, and your mouth finally opened to whisper his name.
“Eds…?”
His head snapped at your voice and– His eyes were black. His pupils were so dilated you couldn’t see the color of his irises. His breathing became even more erratic when he looked at you, and your feet finally moved, taking a step towards him, but a loud voice, one you had never heard from him, stopped you.
“Don’t get any closer, Peach. Fuck– Don’t…” You saw him wince, and you were frowning, your hands up towards his way as if you were trying to tame a beast because you didn’t know what to do. You wanted to run to him, to hold him, ask him what’s wrong, but the glare in his eyes kept you put.
“W–What’s wrong–”
“Listen to me… Do what I tell you to, and don’t ask.” His voice was heavy, rough, almost as if he were holding back a sound you could not quite pinpoint. Your worry heightened, your feet moving against your will, taking another step forward. “Peach!”
“I’m– I’m sorry– I’m worried–” He sighed as he suddenly winced, his hand gripping the floor underneath him while the other covered his belly. He shook his head, taking sharp breaths in.
“I’m sorry– But, you’re in danger of me hurting you right now. I thought you would take longer…” He took a deep breath in and he closed his eyes, and you were just shocked in your place.
“What? What do you mean hurt me–”
“I don’t know if I can control myself with you here, Peach. You– Grab the cuffs from the drawer, the top one, and throw them my way.” You blinked a few times at the weird request, at how alarmed he sounded. All you cared about, though, was that the man you had fallen completely for was suffering on the floor of his room. Suddenly, there was a rumble heard in the room, and you felt– Threatened. “Peach.”
You rushed to the top drawer and looked to the very back of it, feeling the cold metal brush your fingers. You grabbed onto the cuffs, which had the keys in them, and you looked at Eddie. He was panting, and you saw how his eyes were moving all over your body in a way that made you feel… that made you feel small. They made you feel like he was ready to take you, in whichever way he wanted.
“Eddie–”
“Throw them.” You gulped and threw the handcuffs close to him. He groaned as he moved, cuffing his left wrist to the foot of the bed. He took the keys out and threw them your way. He gave a small sigh of relief, but that same relief was not at all etched on his features.
“What is going on? Do I call the ambulance?”
“No– Listen to me. I couldn’t get my phone before my legs gave in. Go downstairs and call a contact that says ‘Murray’. Tell him I fucked up. He’ll understand.” His voice was strained now. The more he talked, the more he shook as if he were having aftershocks. You hesitated, looking down at your boyfriend. His neck was red, and you saw big spots of a more purple color on the crook of it and his left shoulder.
You noticed now, after the shock, how heavy the room felt. It felt tense and filled with a strong scent that matched Eddie’s cologne, but not quite. You felt your chest being pressed on, as if an elephant’s foot stepped on it. The AC was on, yet it felt as if it were outside. You noticed the purple bruises, but a little more on the red side, on his wrists and ankles as well. Was this his condition?
Was Eddie… Was Eddie having an episode of whatever he was suffering from?
You hadn’t noticed the involuntary little step you did his way, and you gasped when you saw him yank himself your way, fighting against the cuff. He choked on his spit, his eyes clenching tightly as sweat dripped from his forehead and chest. He growled your name, and you felt your body wash over in a cold sweat at the tone, at the aggressiveness of it.
“I’M FINE! CALL MURRAY BEFORE–” Your feet moved, running outside the room at full speed, almost tripping on the stairs as you rushed to the living room. You grabbed Eddie’s phone and typed in his pin number that he shared with you long ago. You were breathing heavily thanks to your nerves, feeling helpless as you heard another thump upstairs.
You looked into the contacts and finally found the number Eddie mentioned. You pressed the call button on it and put the phone to your ear. You could feel the tears slipping from your eyes as you waited, bouncing on your feet as you looked at the stairs.
“Munson.”
“Hello– This– This is not Eddie, I’m– I’m his girlfriend–”
“Girlfriend?” You could hardly speak, and this was an emergency. This man was probably the one who knew what was wrong with your boyfriend, and all he cared about was the surprise that Eddie had a girlfriend.
“Yes! Yes! He– He is in his room, I came home and found him like this! He is sweating and–”
“Did he fuck up?”
“What?” Your mind was clouded, and then you remembered Eddie’s words.
‘Tell him I fucked up.’
“Did he fuck up?” And you gulped, nodding even though this man could not see you.
“Yes, yes. He said he did– Sir, who are you?– What is going on–?” The man went silent, and you were growing desperate. The confusion and worry were mixing together, and they were not being a good combo for your brain nor your body.
“I’ll be there in minutes. Is he secured?” Your breathing stopped for a second. This man really did know about Eddie’s condition.
“He… He is cuffed to the bed.” The man chuckled a bit on the other side, and then you heard him start to complain.
“I understand the situation he was in for the past weeks, but forgetting his fucking– And with you there!!! He is probably not having a great time.” You were pacing around the living room, not understanding a single word out of this strange man’s mouth.
“Sir– I don’t know what is going on, is he–”
“He is going to be fucking fine. Stay away from him for now, that’s all I ask for until we get there.” And the line went dead. You looked down at Eddie’s phone, your hand shaking aggressively as you stared at the fading screen. This man just wanted you to sit and wait? But Eddie also did not want you in the room. Whatever that was happening to him, he either didn’t want you to see, or he didn’t want you to try to even touch him.
Your heart was murdering you, and it was making you almost gag from feeling the heartbeat in your throat. It was going really fast, stupidly fast. You were sweating and you wanted to cry, but why would you? It would be stupid to cry. Eddie needed you, and you felt so useless, but you couldn’t just wallow in your self-pity of being kept in the dark. Not right now.
So you waited. You debated calling the phone number again, asking if they were going to take long to come over, whoever these people were. Were they medics? Was it some kind of special facility for whatever condition he had? You didn’t know, and you shouldn’t have left. Fuck.
You felt the tears just coming down once more. You hadn’t left him all week, and the one day you walk out of this house, he gets this crisis. You couldn’t believe your luck. You could have been here when it hit, because he probably had been like this for hours, unable to stand to get to his phone. You should have been here. You should have stayed.
You heard the stairs from outside the front door, and you perked up, rushing over to the door, only for it to click open. Your eyes widened in surprise and shock, now knowing this man also had a spare key to Eddie’s house. He was bald at the top, with hair all over his sides. Glasses over his eyes, a strong, dark beard on his jaw, and he was wearing casual clothes, unlike the men following behind, who were in scrubs.
“I assume you’re the girlfriend?” He asked, and you were stunned, slowly nodding as you gave him your name. He hummed and held his medical bag up, walking towards the stairs.
“Excuse me! What– What is–”
“I am also assuming he did not tell you about his… state, so I won’t be the one to bear the news to you.” You frowned a bit as you followed him to the stairs, only for him to stop you with a hand up to your face. “He’ll be alright, you just wait here and look pretty, and try to wipe those tears away before he sees you and we have a whole other problem.”
You blinked a few times at the orders, taking a step back as the man called Murray walked upstairs, followed by the two men behind him. You choked on a breath before you wiped your tears away, not knowing why that instruction was given to you at all, but it didn’t sound like a joke.
Should you call Steve? Someone? But who? Who knew about this and who didn’t? Wayne obviously knew, but Wayne was no longer here to help his nephew, and you didn’t know how to help, because you didn’t know what the fuck was happening at all.
You heard some thumps upstairs, and you immediately moved to the bottom of the stairs in worry, wanting to see if Eddie was okay. You bit your bottom lip as you felt your eyes burning with incoming tears of frustration this time. Why did you have to leave? Why today?
And you waited. You paced around the living room, you cleaned the small bathroom in the hallway to keep yourself occupied. You cleaned the kitchen counters, and you just kept yourself busy. You heard some mumbling and talking upstairs, but nothing you could pinpoint directly. You were sitting on the stool of the kitchen’s island counter, your face in your hands, and you were really debating sending this Murray guy to go eat ass, and for you to see Eddie.
But the sound of the metallic stairs brought you out of your nerves, and you immediately stood up, turning to see Murray walking down, followed by the two guys who were helping Eddie by his shoulders. You felt your heart coming out of your throat as you saw his state. He was wearing pants now, and he looked like he had the worst fever of his life. His head was hanging down as the guys moved him slowly.
You weren’t noticing the eyes of the man you just met. He was studying your face, your movements, your features. You couldn’t care less about anything else but Eddie right now. Nothing else mattered. They finally reached the bottom step, and Eddie’s head looked up after you heard him take a deep breath in.
His eyes locked with yours. You needed to rush to him, but the man’s hand stopped you, pressing his palm against your chest, and then you saw Eddie’s face. He was hissing, baring his teeth at the man, and your eyes widened. He looked like an animal. His teeth seemed… weird. Or maybe it was the adrenaline of your worry, your imagination playing tricks on you.
“Murray.” His voice was strained, but the bald man sighed, shaking his head.
“I know for a fact that if I hadn’t sedated you just now, my throat would be gushing out blood, wouldn’t it?” His hand went down from in front of you, and you were confused, worried, and maybe slightly afraid. This situation was not normal. Not at all. You cannot think of a single condition or illness that could provoke this much commotion.
The men started walking Eddie to the front door, and you saw how Eddie kept trying to turn to look at you, but a hand on your shoulder stopped you from moving. You hadn’t noticed you were blindly following them. Your eyes found Murray’s, and you glared at him.
“Whatever is happening, you are taking me with you.”
He scoffed, a mocking smile spreading on those stupid lips of his.
“And I suppose a little girl like you will make me?”
You got out of the passenger’s seat of Murray’s car, slamming the door behind you.
You stood in front of what looked like a scientific research place, a big building with tanks on the sides, vents, pipes that went from place to place and you felt a shiver running down your spine. What exactly was this place?
Murray got out of his car, grumbling under his breath as he made his way to you. His ear was reddened from the pull you gave it, and his chin hurt from how hard you had pulled on his beard.
“This is a disguise.”
“What?” You turned to face him only for him to roll his eyes. He made you follow him to a side door of the building, not the door Eddie had gone in. The men got him inside a small van, and Murray and you followed right behind. This place was almost on the outskirts of the city, hidden completely.
He entered the door using the electrical pad on the side, punching in the code and then a scan of his finger. Whatever this was, it was heavy shit. He walked inside first, and you cautiously followed. The place turned from gray to clearer colors, much like a hospital. He stopped you at a disinfecting section with a sink, a shoe rack with disposable slippers, and bottles of sanitizer.
“Take off your shoes, wash your hands, drown yourself in alcohol, and go wait in that room over there.” He pointed at a room that looked like it was meant to be a waiting room. “I have to go treat your boyfriend before he goes feral.”
You didn’t miss the mocking tone in the word ‘boyfriend’, making you frown. He took off his shoes, and your eyes followed him as he walked away. You saw nurses rushing to him, and you could only guess he was giving instructions to them.
“Feral?” The word tumbled out of your mouth in question as you took off your shoes, trying to calm your heart and your nerves. Eddie was safe now, wasn’t he? Was he an experiment? Was that man a good man? Should you trust that man? Eddie was the one who told you to call him, but–
Fuck– Fuck. You didn’t know what was going on, and this seemed now like a private hospital. Like a clinic for particular illnesses and conditions. Maybe that’s what it was. You washed your hands in the sink, and then you rubbed alcohol all over them. You left your shoes in the rack next to it, and you put on the visitor slippers that were covered in sterilized bags.
Was Eddie… terminally ill?
You felt like throwing up at the thought. You couldn’t even begin to imagine what your life would be without him now. Your brain was being mean to you, that’s all it was. He wasn’t terminally ill. He would have told you this before, wouldn’t he? He–
Your breathing started to quicken as you felt panic setting in. You felt nauseous, and you rushed into the room that Murray told you to wait in. There was a couch, a coffee machine, and a table with snacks, but you didn’t care. You had to walk. You had to breathe. You had to try to fucking breathe.
But every time Eddie’s pained face came back, you couldn’t help but feel your tears gathering up in your eyes. Your heart ached for him in ways it hadn’t ached in so long. You wanted him to be alright, please. Someone had to listen. Someone had to save Eddie.
You didn’t know how much time had passed. You didn’t even want to look at your phone. You were sitting down on the couch, your head in your hands as you rested your elbows on your knees. The sound of the door opening made you look up, ready to ask for Eddie’s health to Murray, only for you to sit back in shock, because it wasn’t the bald man walking through the door.
“Steve?”
His eyes were wide as he looked down at you, as well as pity was etched in them. You frowned at seeing him here with you, but then, it only meant–
“You know…” You whispered, and he closed his mouth, gulping.
“Do you?” He asked, and all you could do was move your head from side to side slowly, denying it. Your stomach was turned, completely flipped upside down. His face was also a worried one as he looked down at you, frowning.
“Will you please tell me what’s wrong with him?” You asked, and he winced, shaking his head a bit. You wanted to scream. Why was no one telling you anything? Why were you being kept in the dark like this?
“Ah, Steve.” Your head snapped towards the bald man walking in, making you stand up from the couch. You looked at them, back and forth. They clearly knew each other which only made you even more confused and panicked.
“Is he alright?” Steve asked, and you were still in shock, your voice not really coming out of your lips. Murray’s eyes found yours, and he sighed.
“Steve is Eddie’s second emergency contact.” Steve’s eyes found yours, and you were staring at him in complete silence. You weren’t surprised at that fact, but it was still quite the surprise to see him walking into this room. “He told me you are all from the same friend group?”
You finally reacted, giving him a quick nod. Steve took a deep breath in, turning to the bald man again, a little more stern.
“Is he alright?”
“He is fine. He is now stable after I gave him his medicine.”
You finally let the breath you were holding out of your lungs. You plopped down on the couch, feeling just a tad of relief wash over you as you finally knew that Eddie was alright. That he was fine. That he was probably no longer in that pain he seemed to be in. Steve’s eyes were looking your way, gulping as he looked back at Murray.
“Is he awake?”
“He is… and he is actually asking for his Peach.” Your eyes widened, and you looked up at the man who you now noticed was wearing a white robe. You stood up immediately, feeling yourself moving automatically towards Murray.
“He is asking for me?”
“Oh yes. I believe… You two have a lot to talk about.” He said, his eyes looking at your friend for a moment, and you felt the nerves starting to eat away at your stomach again. Your eyes found Steve’s, and he gave you a small, encouraging smile, his hand coming to rest on your shoulder. His eyes, though, were filled with something that looked like worry.
You gulped and nodded, letting the man guide you out of the room while Steve stayed behind. You felt nervous, the anticipation eating away at your stomach. You weren’t sure what to expect, and you weren’t even sure how you would encounter Eddie in that room.
“If you don’t mind me asking, for how long have you two been dating?” Murray asked out of nowhere, and you stuttered a bit as you tried to get out of your thoughts. Maybe he was trying to make your nerves go away by doing small talk?
“We… We became official yesterday.” He hummed as he kept walking. You watched through a window into a room where there was a research team inside, running tests with small machines and test tubes filled with liquids. You frowned in question and turned to look at him, ready to ask, only for him to interrupt again.
“And for how long have you two been fucking?”
“Excuse me?” You were taken aback by the nerve of this strange man. Because, who the fuck asks that out of nowhere?
“I asked for how long you two have been engaging in physical intimacy. I thought I was clear enough.” He acted as if his question was something people asked in day-to-day life when getting to know someone else.
“It’s– That’s none of your business.” You replied, and he stopped walking completely, turning to face you.
“You see, that’s where you’re wrong. It totally is, and you’ll soon find out why. So, tell me, since when have you two been engaging in a physical relationship?” His eyes were filled with ego yet truth. You blinked a few times as you gathered your thoughts, recounting the months.
“Five months.” He squinted a little bit, giving a small nod. He straightened up and continued walking, which made you follow, looking at the back of his head with a frown.
“Exclusive?” He asked, and you gulped a bit, looking down at the floor.
“Two months out of those five.” He hummed, and you wondered what was going on inside his head. Why was this information important to him?
“And if you don’t mind me asking, and again, I have to know. You didn’t have any troubles in… taking someone like him?” You gasped, stopping in your tracks as you stared at the shininess of the back of his head.
“Now, that you don’t need to know–!”
“Ah, so you can. Gotcha.” He kept walking as if you had never stopped, and you scoffed under your breath, following him once again. He finally stopped in front of a door, and you saw Eddie’s name on the side, making your heart jump out of your chest. Your hand immediately went to the knob of the door, but the man stopped you, glaring at you. “First things first.”
“What–”
“This is a secret establishment. Whatever you see here, you don’t go talking about it outside. Once you know the truth of what we truly are, you will play stupid, and you will keep calling us scientific researchers, alright?”
You were stunned as you looked at him, the fear creeping up over your spine as you stared at this man. He was not joking. He was not playing around despite how stupid he looked. He was serious, and whatever this establishment was, it was either illegal or too important for normal people to know it existed.
And Eddie was part of it.
And you would dive into the unknown for him. Fight it if you must.
So you nodded in agreement, and his hand left your wrist. You took a deep breath in and opened the door slowly, already hearing beeping machines, and Eddie’s scent was already lingering inside. You walked inside, and Murray gave a small nod, closing the door behind you.
Every step you managed to take, the more your stomach flipped, but the moment you saw him sitting up on the bed with a patient’s robe on and the IVs clinging to his arms, you couldn’t help the tears that filled your eyes. It was relief, happiness, worry, anguish, anxiety, all of it mixed together. He had his well-known bun on his head as he played with the pick necklace around his neck.
His head snapped upwards the moment you walked in, his eyes clashing with yours. His arms instantly opened up, and you rushed towards him, almost knocking him over when you got on the side of the bed and hugged him, fresh tears coming out of your eyes from how overwhelmed you felt. How fucking crazy the past hours have been. How crazy your day had already started the moment you opened your eyes.
His arms engulfed you tightly, pulling you into him in a protective embrace. His face came to rest in the crook of your neck and shoulder, and you could feel his hot breath against your skin. You could feel his heat all over you, and you were just relieved to see him alright. You were relieved to not see him wince or heave with his breathing like you had.
“I was so worried…” You mumbled into his shoulder, and he nodded quickly, giving a soft kiss to your neck.
“I know… I know Peach…” He gulped, and you could hear it. You slowly pulled away, but his hands were not going to let you go away. He reached to grab your hands in a tight grip, as if making sure you wouldn’t go farther away from him, even if you were already too close.
“What happened? Why–” You didn’t even know where to begin. What was the right question? His eyes were locked with yours as silence engulfed the both of you. He took a deep breath in before talking again.
“My… I missed my medication.” You assumed he did, Murray said something along the lines of those words. You nodded a bit, still frowning.
“I… was it that… vial I saw in your cabinet?” His eyes widened, and he straightened up on the bed as his grip tightened around your hands.
“You saw that? And you never… asked?” You slowly shook your head at him and then gave him a shrug.
“I… I assumed you would tell me at your own time…” Your hands were suddenly moved, and lips covered the top of them. A fond kiss from his part, a sign of gratitude. You felt your belly flip over as you moved a bit on the bed, fixing your seating. “Eddie… what was that?”
Silence surrounded the two of you, and you could hear your heartbeat racing as fast as Eddie’s machine was beeping. At least you weren’t alone in the nerves. He put your hands down, his fingers intertwined with yours.
“I… I missed the medication because of… Because of Wayne. I forgot to inject myself and– And I also got a little distracted with our relationship that I… forgot to get more.” You blinked a few times, feeling the guilt wash over you, but before you could talk, Eddie was already looking at you. “Don’t feel guilty.”
You frowned in question because– How did he know? There wasn’t a hint of smugness there now, nor cheekiness, nor a joke like he always did when he knew exactly what you were feeling. Maybe he just… knew you too well.
“And now, they gave you that medication?” He slowly nodded as his thumbs rubbed over your hands, and you could see him gulp, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down.
“There’s a reason… of why I can sense what you’re feeling. What people feel.” You sat there, feeling the anxiety washing over you little by little.
“You said it’s because you learnt to read people like the back of your hand…” He scoffed at your words, shaking his head.
“Yeah, no, that’s… not it…” He waited for a few seconds before his eyes found yours. They were intense, knocking your breath away completely. “Sweetheart, you’ve never wondered about my size?”
You flushed at his question, but it felt as if you were caught red-handed. You have. Eddie was big. Bigger than you’ve ever seen. You weren’t sure how you could take him the way you did, but you dismissed it as a coincidence, and maybe there were many like Eddie out there. You shrugged but still nodded at him once.
“Yes, but… I never really gave it much thought after…” You admitted, and he nodded, his jaw clenching.
“Have you ever wondered why I am so protective?” You frowned at that, not really understanding what he was saying or why he was asking such things.
“Because you care for your friends–”
“Remember how I treated you.” And you did. Your heart ached as the memories started coming back. His cold shoulder. His remarks. His insults. All because you weren’t telling the truth to–
“Robin.” He nodded, gulping once again. You sat there in silence as everything started sinking in, staring at him as the memories kept coming rushing back, puzzle pieces you didn’t know were there. “You… knew I was lying… not because you had a hunch.”
“No. I knew you were hiding stuff. I knew that was hurting Robin. I could feel it. I could… smell it.”
Now that threw you off guard. You were not expecting something like that to come out of his mouth. You tilted your head, the frown never leaving your features, because you couldn’t be any more confused right now. You weren’t sure what he was saying or what he was talking about at this point.
“What do you mean, smell it?” He straightened up at your question, taking a deep breath in as if bracing himself.
“Peach, have you ever seen a bottle of cologne in my room?” You scoffed at that and shrugged.
“I don’t know? You clearly use some, so I’m guessing it’s in a drawer or something–”
“I don’t use cologne.” You sat there, giving a humorless scoff as you shook your head.
“Are you joking right now?”
“Tell me, can you smell me each time I walk into a room?” You blinked a few times and slowly nodded, giving him a small shrug.
“Yeah, I mean, I assume you reapply your cologne–”
“Why would I bring cologne to a clinic?” His eyes were serious as they stared into yours, and– You could smell him when you walked in. “Why would I put on cologne for work? You should only smell sweat, yet you always tell me I smell good.”
You were staring at him as if he had grown a second head. You were not sure you were following the conversation at this point. You were not completely sure if you were in a reality any longer.
“So… you have a strong scent on your body, so what?” He took a deep breath in and sighed, closing his eyes as he took a deep breath in, then out.
“You’re confused, worried. You are also uncomfortable, probably because of something Murray said. That man has less human tact than a fucking alien. Am I wrong?” You were wide-eyed, staring at him. How did he know? How–? “Smell. I can smell your emotions on you. Just how I could smell you were hiding something when you met us. How I could smell your distress when you saw Henry after so long. How I could smell your worry when you were dating Mr. Model.”
His words were snarky, sharp, yet you were frozen in place as you listened. Your mind was no longer functioning because– You weren’t completely sure you were hearing him right? You weren’t sure of anything he was saying. You wondered if he was high, or if this was some joke, or if this was the beginning of him going crazy.
“I’m… I’m sorry Eddie, I’m not following, and honestly this sounds… this sounds fucking insane–”
“I know. I know it does but– Fuck, Peach, I– I don’t want you to think… less of me, or– or think I’m a freak.” His bottom lip wobbled, and you saw the real fear and how scared he was behind those eyes. Your hands let go of his, and you cradled his face, making him look at you. You saw tears in those eyes. Tears of fear, of anxiety, of nervousness, but also of desperation.
“I would never. Ever. Even if everything you’re saying sounds crazy– I’m sure you have an explanation for it.” You stated, and he gulped, nodding slowly. His hands came to rest on top of yours, and your stomach twisted as he stared at you, as he measured his next words. He licked his lips, his grip tightening on your hands as if making sure he kept you there.
“Peach…”
And your breathing stopped as he said the next words. Words you never in your life thought you would hear. Words so ancient that you wondered if you dreamed them.
Words that in this modern life, in these modern days, should not even be said, because they didn’t exist.
Words that would change your relationship completely.
Words that would completely change you.
Words that made the world around you freeze.
“I’m an Alpha.”

CHAPTER 25
You were restless.
Your nails were between your lips as you paced your apartment, waiting for Eddie to message you back. You found out about the news through Steve, who messaged the entire group. Your heart plummeted to the depths of your stomach, and you didn’t know how to process the news. Tears ran down your cheeks before you could stop them, and the sadness shook all over your body.
You messaged Eddie then, but you didn’t get any response. You waited and waited, and only a day later, he answered in the morning.
‘I’m having the funeral now.’
Words could not be enough to express how you felt. He was there in Hawkins, alone, and you wanted to get into your car and drive those three hours to get to where he was so he wouldn’t be by himself. But you had to think clearly, not drastically. You told him to message you whenever he needed, and that he could call you at any time.
He didn’t.
You pushed your negative feelings towards Steve aside, bothering him every day to tell you if he knew anything about Eddie, or when he was going to return, but Steve was as clueless as you were.
It had been a week since Wayne’s birthday, two since his funeral. You knew by now that Eddie liked to deal with these kinds of things alone, but you didn’t think he would leave Steve aside. Robin told you how distraught Steve was. He deeply cared for Wayne, too, and he was wrecked that he wasn’t attending his funeral. You felt sad for Steve because Wayne must have been like an uncle to him, a second family.
But Steve told you that he couldn’t be mad at Eddie for it. It wasn’t something easy, much less after everything they both went through together. He could visit Wayne’s grave later, and he was glad that the last memory he had of the old man was a red tint on his cheeks from the whiskey and a smile on his face.
You should feel the same, but the worry for Eddie only kept growing the more you didn’t know about his whereabouts. Now, you were debating calling off from work in the next three days, needing to go find Eddie for yourself, at least ask him if he is okay, and leave. You didn’t need anything else. You just needed to know that Eddie was fine.
The week had been excruciating for you because you couldn’t focus on work. How could you? The man you have feelings for is not answering any of your texts, and he just lost his last family member. How could you be relaxed in a situation like that? Now Saturday, you hadn’t stopped thinking about Eddie a single second. Your stomach was in knots, screaming at you to do something, anything to make the nerves calm down.
But what could you possibly do?
Your phone started beeping, and you quickly took it out of your pocket to see Robin calling you. You gasped, answering in a hurried manner.
“Robs? Any news?” “We are coming to pick you up! Eddie is at home! We just passed by his house, and his car is there!” You sighed with relief, and you quickly rushed to grab your purse, your phone, and keys, not caring about anything else. Nothing else really mattered. You needed to make sure he was alive, and he was fine, and that he didn’t need anything else, at least for now.
“Okay! I’m heading down!” You hung up, feeling your heart thumping at your chest with desperation, and you rushed out of your house. You couldn’t even think straight or rationally; you just wanted to see Eddie. You had to see Eddie. There was this pull at your chest that was making you feel hopeless by not knowing where he was. You felt numb and empty after a week of complete radio silence.
It was an understandable situation, but he could at least tell you all that he was fine. He could tell you all when he was going to return or when he did, like now. You had passed by his house many times, and the day you didn’t, he returned. For fucks sake.
You were out of your building, looking towards the street, your feet bouncing in place as you bit your bottom lip. The anxiety was overwhelming you, because if Eddie hadn’t talked to any of you about his comeback, it was because he definitely wanted to be alone. You wished you could let him have his privacy, but you were worried. Too worried, and Steve was too.
You saw the BMW pulling up, rather quickly, and it stopped right in front of you with a slight screech. Robin moved her hands for you to get in, and you rushed into the backseat of the car. You felt your heart in your throat as you clung onto Robin’s headrest.
Steve turned his head to look at you once before he started to drive. You had bags under your eyes, you looked spent, as if something had been sucked out of your body and left you limp.
Your breathing was heavy as Steve drove, and you could hear Robin asking you if you were fine, but you kept shaking your head. You weren’t. You weren’t going to be until you knew what was going on with Eddie. The depths of your feelings were more than what you had thought, but it was not time to think about those right now. No.
You arrived at Eddie’s in record time, and Steve pulled the brake quickly, before unbuckling himself and getting out. You followed at the same speed, Robin right behind you two. You three rushed up the stairs, and you saw Steve deliberating whether to knock on the door or use the spare key in his hand.
He decided to knock a few times, desperately. You were waiting expectantly outside, gulping as you three stood in front of the door.
“EDDIE! It’s us! We– We saw your car, we just want to make sure you’re okay!” Steve tried, and he waited for a bit, licking his lips as nervousness rushed all over his body. He cursed under his breath, looking at the key in his hand and–
The door clicked, and you held your breath in. Slowly, it opened, and Eddie stood on the other side. He looked… He looked void. Empty. A vessel made out of a human corpse. You frowned at the sight, not being able to hold back on your worry, on how your heart tugged in desperation of wanting to pull him into your arms.
Steve gulped as he stared at his friend, who had yet to look up at him. Robin grabbed your hand from behind Steve, silently telling you that she was here with you, and you couldn’t be more grateful because you felt as if your knees were about to break on you.
“Eddie–” Steve talked, and Eddie had his hair down, wearing a white buttoned-up long-sleeved formal shirt and black dress pants. He never changed out of the funeral clothes. The mourning ones. It’s been two days. Your jaw clenched as you tried to look for his eyes, but he wasn’t looking at any of you.
“I’m alive.” He slowly stepped back, turning around to give his back to the three of you. You wanted to rush forward and hug him, but you knew that Eddie was vulnerable, very susceptible. You didn’t want to overstep the boundaries he probably had right now but– but fuck.
Steve was the first to slowly step in, and his heart clenched when he saw boxes inside Eddie’s home, one in particular with the word ‘Mugs’ on it. He knew that was Wayne’s collection, and Eddie had also done the moving of his stuff by himself. He wanted to curse at his best friend, but it wasn’t the time. It wasn’t the right moment.
You followed Steve, looking around with tears filling your eyes. You couldn’t help it. How could you when you knew the man you care for deeply might be suffering in silence? Your eyes fell back on Eddie’s back, seeing his hair cascading all over the white shirt. Steve licked his lips as he measured his words.
“We wanted… We wanted to make sure you were okay– We are here if you need us. You need to know that we are here.” He tried, trying to make Eddie budge, yet the man didn’t turn around. You felt your heart clench in pain as you looked at Steve, begging him to keep trying. Steve winced, gulping before he continued. “Eddie, please–”
“I want to do this alone. I will be fine in a few days. You guys don’t need to worry about me.” His voice was cold, emotionless. Your bottom lip trembled as you softly called out to him.
“Eddie…” You saw his body tensing slightly at your voice. You took a step forward, not caring for the boundaries anymore, but a hand over your chest stopped you. Steve was looking at you in pain, and you knew that he actually didn’t want to stop you, but he knew Eddie better than you did in this stuff. He knew how to handle Eddie when he became like this.
Your foot slowly retreated, painfully so. You didn’t want to go. You wanted to run and hug him and take care of him. You wanted to hold him tight and comfort him. But you couldn’t do it if he didn’t open up to you, and you couldn’t make him do so. Steve also looked pained, but Robin put a hand on his shoulder for support, giving him a small comforting smile.
The brown haired man sighed, shaking his head a bit with a sigh. He admitted defeat as he looked down at the floor.
“At least try to message us back. Let us know you are alright. We are here if you need anything at all, Eddie.” With that, Steve turned around and looked at you with a frown. His words were not there, but it was enough for you to understand. ‘We can’t do more than this.’
It pained you. Your eyes filled with silent tears as you looked at Eddie, who didn’t turn around for a single second. You gulped and nodded, turning back around to finally leave with Steve and Robin. You felt defeated as you three walked to the door, and you should be happy with knowing he was here, alive, and breathing, but it wasn’t enough. You weren’t satisfied, you weren't relieved. You knew Steve felt the exact same, but the three of you couldn’t break the wall Eddie had built so easily.
You were about to cross the front door, right after Robin, only to be stopped by a sudden pull.
Your eyes widened when you felt a rough hand grab onto your left one, tightly. You slowly turned around to see Eddie, getting closer to you as he pulled you towards him, his other hand joining his hold on you, as if to make sure you weren't going to slip away. Steve and Robin turned around, stunned, eyes wide as they looked at the interaction.
“Peach…” It was silent, rough, and his eyebrows were meeting in the middle. Your heartstrings tightened at the sight, and Eddie’s body flushed against your side, like a puppy looking for comfort.
You turned to look at Steve and Robin, and Steve’s eyes went back and forth between you and Eddie. You didn’t know what was going on through his mind, but Eddie was showing that he wanted you to stay. Only you.
“I’m… I’m staying here with him. I’ll keep you guys updated, okay?” You said softly, the hands around your left one tightening, silently begging you to hurry and come inside. Steve’s eyes drifted towards Eddie, who was looking at the top of your head, magnetized to you, in need of you. Steve’s jaw clenched, his words soft as he spoke to you.
“Okay. Take care of him, alright?”
You were surprised by his words, not really expecting him to give you such a big green light after how he had been with you the past weeks. Robin smiled at you, giving you a nod.
“Tell me if you need anything from your apartment.” You gave her a nod, and she waved at you, walking down the stairs with Steve right behind her. The man turned around one last time at the bottom of the stairs, seeing you urging Eddie inside with soft words. The door closed, and Steve took a deep breath before going back to the car.
Inside the house, your instincts kicked in, your right hand grabbing onto his forearm to try to make him look at you. His eyes found yours, and you saw the ticking bomb that resided in them. You had to act fast. You needed to make it comfortable for him so he could rest, or better yet, let it all out.
“Eds, let’s go to your room, get you out of those clothes, and get into bed, okay?” You softly spoke, which Eddie nodded slowly. He never let go of your hand as you guided him upstairs. Once you two reached his room, you made him sit on the bed, kissing his hands so he could let go of yours. He reluctantly did so, and you moved towards the dresser to get some sweatpants out for him to wear.
You walked towards him and started unbuttoning his shirt, then his cuffs, so you could pull it off his body. Fuck, was he thinner? Has he eaten in the past week? Worry ran over your body, but you kept it down with a gulp as you helped him remove his shoes and pants. It was not the time for any questions. As he put on the sweatpants, you took the opportunity to get yourself comfortable. You took off your own pants and shirt, and Eddie was not even looking at you as you did. You put on a shirt of his and grabbed his hands to guide him to the side of the bed, opening the blanket for him.
“Come on…” He moved at your command, slowly, but he got into the bed as his eyes searched for you. You pulled the blanket over him and rushed around the bed to get in on the other side.
Your heart was aching, and your instincts, your feelings, were talking for you. You moved a bit further up into the pillow, opening your arm as you reached for him with the other, “Come here…”
He slowly moved closer to you, and he almost looked as if he were in a state of shock. You realized that maybe he was. He definitely was. His head came in contact with your chest, and your arms wrapped around him, tightly. You wanted to sob, finally having him back in your arms, and you wished he wasn’t feeling like this. You wished that the circumstances were different because you didn’t want him to be in pain. You didn’t want him to hurt.
“Wayne.” He said as your hand ran over his hair, starting to gently rub as your chin pressed at the top of his head. Tears filled your eyes as you gave him a short nod.
“Yeah… Let it out, Eddie…”
And his body started shaking, his arms wrapping around you like a vice, holding onto you for dear life. You clenched your eyes as you heard his first sob. Then another. Then loud cries of pain, of anguish, of loss. His nails were digging into your back, but you didn’t even feel them. You couldn’t care less. He needed this. He needed you.
You have never thought you would hear him cry like this. Mouth open as he let out his sobs, his wails, his whimpers. You felt the front of your shirt dampen more and more each second that passed, and all you could do was hold him. You rocked him gently, trying to soothe him, but you never shushed him. You never tried to calm him down when all he needed was to cry.
Your throat was closed up as you tried to hold your own sobs in, but your tears fell freely. He cried and cried for what seemed like hours. Sob, through sob, and when you thought he had fallen asleep or calmed down, they started back up again. You held him through it, and your movements never stopped. Your hand running over his hair, the slight rocking of your body, your legs tangling with his, so he would feel your warmth all over his body.
You never once separated yourself from him.
Only when he fell asleep, you managed to slip away so you could wash your face and relieve yourself in the toilet. You took deep breaths as you looked at your reflection in the mirror, weighing your options. You couldn’t leave Eddie alone. Your body could not physically do it, even if your mind told you that you had to at some point.
You had to make sure he ate, you had to make sure that he took care of himself, and you had to help him with everything he brought back from Hawkins. It wasn’t going to be easy, mentally, physically, and emotionally, and you knew that he would need support. You brushed your teeth before heading back into the bedroom, seeing Eddie clutching onto the blanket, his entire body in a ball position, all turned into itself.
Your heart ached, and you walked towards your phone to text Robin. You messaged her that everything was alright, but Eddie needed support. You told her to bring you some clothes for the day and for work, and necessities the next day, so you could stay at Eddie’s for as much as he needed.
You went back into the bed, trying not to wake him up, but as soon as you got in, his body sought yours. His arms wrapped tightly around you, pulling you into his chest, and you sighed with delight, knowing that he was alright and in your arms. Your eyes closed instantly, and you let the darkness take you away, falling asleep to Eddie’s soft breaths.
The next day, you awoke first at 9 AM, untangling yourself from him so you could put on a pair of his shorts before heading downstairs. You looked around, seeing all the boxes, the suitcases, and you knew this was going to be a journey. This was going to be something tough, and you wondered if you could even do this by yourself.
You decided to cook something and try to make Eddie eat before even tackling any conversation. You prepared some scrambled eggs, toast, coffee, and juice, taking your time to do so. You left your plate and your coffee on the kitchen’s island counter, and you bit your lip as you put all of that on a tray, praying to whatever god was up there not to let you fall down the stairs.
The tray clanked a bit as you walked slowly up the stairs, focusing on not letting anything drop or fall. You sighed with relief once you got to the top, moving towards the bedroom to see Eddie sitting up on his bed. His hair was disheveled from sleep. You two went to sleep rather early, and now it was 10:30 AM.
“Hey, I made you some breakfast…” You softly spoke as you walked towards the bed, sat down next to him, and placed the tray of food on the bed. He looked at it, his eyes bloodshot and puffy, the scruff on his chin longer and unkept. His voice was rough and raspy, and you saw him gulp at the sight of food.
“Not really hungry, Peach…”
“You gotta eat.” Eddie shot a glare your way, but you kept your stance, pointing at the food. “I made this for you.”
“So because you made it for me, I gotta eat it?”
“Yes.”
He fell silent for a second, but then he moved, placing the tray on his lap. He frowned for a second and then looked back up at you.
“Where’s yours?” He asked, and you pointed down.
“Downstairs, didn’t fit in the tray–” He crossed his arms over his chest and laid back on the headboard of his bed. Your mouth fell open, and you rolled your eyes at him. “Seriously? You aren’t going to eat?”
“If you bring your breakfast up here and eat with me, yes.” You couldn’t help but feel a little tug on your lips going upwards, finding this rather endearing than childish.
“God, such a kid.” You got up from the bed and went back downstairs to get another tray and do another silent prayer before returning to the bedroom. Once you returned, he was still in the same position as before.
“So slow.” You shot a glare his way as you walked to the bed, sitting down next to him with the tray on your lap.
“Do you know how much balancing I have to do walking up the stairs with this?” He gave a chuckle. Just one. It was enough to make your hopes rise again, a small weight being lifted off your shoulders. It was a small win, but a win nonetheless.
“Skill issue.” Was his short answer, and you saw how he started eating his food. He started slow, only to then start devouring it all. You held in a sigh of relief when you saw him finally ingesting something in his system, not really knowing when was the last time he did so.
You ate in silence, inspecting his movements, inspecting the way he ate. You drank your coffee, and once it was all finished, you turned to look at Eddie, who was rubbing his eyes. Your heart clenched as you pushed the trays aside, getting up from the bed, rounding it to get to Eddie. Your hands reached for his, thumbs rubbing against the top of his palms.
“Come on, you want a bath or a shower?” He didn’t answer, so you gave him a small tug, making him groan.
“I don’t want to shower.”
“Well, you’re stinky. So a bath it is.” You let go of his hands to go to the bathroom to get the bath ready. You made it not too hot like you would have liked it, knowing Eddie takes colder showers. You waited for the bath to fill up, hearing Eddie’s steps coming towards the bathroom. You turned to look at him, and you couldn’t help but feel a bit broken by looking at him in this state. You wanted to fix it, to make it better, and you were hoping that you were.
You stood up as the sound of the water splashing in the tub filled the room, the bit of steam making it warm up. The shampoo and conditioner were all there for him to use, but he didn’t make a move to take his pants off. You tilted your head, knowing he wanted to say something, but he wasn’t doing so. But you knew what he needed.
Your hands came to rip the shirt off your body, as well as taking your pants off. His eyes moved to find yours, and he shook his head slowly, grabbing your hand to stop you from taking your underwear off as well.
“It’s cold for you.”
“I’m a big girl. I can handle a bit of cold.” You were happy he remembered how you liked the temperature of your water, but for him, you would dip yourself in the Arctic Ocean. He needed you right now. You weren’t going to let temperatures or commodities get in between you and him.
You two got in the bath together, and you made sure not to wet your hair, not wanting to wash it just yet, but you helped Eddie wash his. As you rubbed the shampoo into his hair, you could hear sniffles coming from him, and you let him cry. You heard him take deep breaths as if to try to calm himself down a couple of times, but the sniffles came back. When you faced him to wash his face, tears were streaming down his cheeks, breaking your heart. He looked at you almost helplessly, and you just wanted to wrap your arms around him and never let go. Not even for a second.
But the water turned colder and colder, and you had to. You got out first, wrapping a towel around your body. He got out and wrapped one as well around his waist, before grabbing another one for his hair. You snatched it from his hands, making him raise an eyebrow your way.
You didn’t say a word as you walked out of the bathroom and then into the bedroom. You sat down on the edge of the bed, and you nodded towards the floor. Eddie immediately understood and sat down at your feet. You dried his hair with the towel, rubbing your hands all over and shaking it, making a few chuckles escape him as well as some winces.
The day went on, and you prepared lunch for the two of you. Some quick pasta, but you told Eddie that you two had to eat something healthy at night, so you would have to go out and get groceries.
“Please, don’t…” He winced at his own words, at his own plea. He didn’t want you to leave, but maybe he felt selfish by requesting this from you. You bit your lip and nodded, grabbing his hand over the counter.
“Okay, Robin is coming over just to bring me some clothes and things. I’ll tell her to go to the market to get me some food. I’m staying here until you kick me out, Munson.” You tried saying in a lighthearted manner, but his grip on your hand tightened, and then, his lips found your temple. Your heart burst into flames in your chest, and you hummed in appreciation.
“Thank you…”
When Robin came by a few hours later, she tried asking a few things, but mostly if there was anything else she could do, as well as Steve. The others have been wanting to reach out to Eddie as well, but it seemed as if everyone knew that all he needed was time. You thanked Robin, closing the door and walking to the couch with her bag of clothes.
He had a photo album on his lap as ‘The Office’ played in the background. He looked up at you when he heard the zip of the bag, and you scrunched up your nose at the clothes your best friend picked up for you.
“God damnit, Robin.” He tilted his head, trying to look over to see what the problem was.
“What is it?”
“Let’s say that she grabbed the first things she saw out of my work clothes drawer and stashed them inside this bag.” You sighed, shaking your head. “I will have to get some clothes before going to work tomorrow–”
And you heard his breath hitch. Your eyes found his, and he looked lost, desperate, as if he wanted to say something. Your heart clenched tightly in your chest, the pit of your stomach just becoming hollow. You sighed, getting your phone out of your back pocket, texting your boss. Eddie snapped out of his shock, so it seemed, and he stuttered as he spoke to you.
“What are you doing?”
“Just a sec.” You asked as you waited for your boss to answer to you. Eddie was really your demise, wasn’t he? Your phone dinged, and you nodded, sitting down next to him. “Okay, I’m not going to work this week.”
His eyes widened, shaking his head at you.
“You have the training, your boss is going on leave soon–”
“And I am an impeccable worker who has no job left undone. I told her I needed to take care of a personal matter that might take a while, regarding a loss.” You brushed a stray hair that fell on the side of his face, putting it behind his ear. “It’s fine.”
You gave him an encouraging smile, and he was just looking at you as if you weren’t even there. As if you were a figment of his imagination. You opened your mouth to talk again, but both his hands came up to cradle your cheeks, and then his lips came to rest on top of yours, tenderly and very softly.
Your body got goosebumps all over, electricity running through your entire spine that made everything feel more intense than before. It was the first kiss he gave you after he came back from Hawkins, the first kiss after his Uncle’s birthday party. The world was silent around you two, and when he pulled away, his lips still hovering over yours, you knew you couldn’t be free of Eddie. Not anymore.
“Thank you… Thank you so much, Peach…”
Three days passed, and Eddie started to slowly come back to himself.
You helped him clean the house, fix the schedule for his shop, and even went to get groceries with him. You wondered what Nancy, Jonathan, and Argyle thought of you staying in his house, or maybe they didn’t even know you were there.
Steve had been messaging you all this time, asking you to keep him updated on Eddie’s health and how he was acting. It broke your heart knowing Steve wanted to be there for his best friend as well, but Eddie was making no moves on inviting more people over or getting out of the house to do so.
But you were completely thrown back when he stood next to you as he dried the glasses you finished cleaning in the sink.
“I’ll invite Steve over today. I want him to help me sort out… the boxes.” You were almost wide-eyed in surprise when you heard that. The boxes were the one thing you dreaded the most, knowing how hard that would be for Eddie, but now, your chest filled with warmth, knowing he wanted to do it with his best friend.
You nodded in agreement, kissing his bicep as he let out a sigh of what seemed like relief. You turned off the water, drying your hands on a kitchen cloth.
“You want me out for that?” You asked, and his head whipped quickly your way, a frown forming in his eyebrows. He looked almost comical, but you held the giggle back.
“No. You are not allowed to leave.” You scoffed, shaking your head at him.
“I should call the police, I’m being held hostage.” You joked, and he dropped the cloth with a slam on the counter, and his arms came to wrap tightly around your waist, making you giggle in surprise as he raised you, lifting you in the air, smiling up at you. Your feet kicked as he walked towards the living room. “Okay, put me down!”
“Nope, I want you to fully give your vocal consent, you're staying out of your own free will.” You giggled as his arms were still tightly wrapped around you, and you saw his smile as you tried to wiggle yourself free from his grasp.
“Fine, fine! I’m staying out of my own free will! I’m not being held hostage!” He gave a huff of approval before putting you down on the ground again. You were pouting at him, and he shook his head, leaning down to kiss you softly.
“Don’t pout at me.” His phone gave a small ding, and he pulled it out, not hiding the screen from you, which only made you feel proud. You saw it was Steve, responding to Eddie’s text. “He is free today.”
You gave him a nod, and you saw how he hesitated on typing the message out. His thumb was over the letters, and your hands squeezed his waist in encouragement. You heard him take a sharp intake of breath before his thumb started moving. ‘Will you come over to help me out with Wayne’s boxes?’
You knew that simple text was a lot for Eddie. You could hear his breathing becoming shaky, and you waited right there with him for Steve’s response. His eyes were not moving away from his phone screen, while yours were not moving away from him. Once Steve agreed to come over, you saw Eddie sigh in relief, putting his phone back into his pocket.
“So, he’s coming?” Eddie looked at you, a small smirk appearing on his lips as he opened his mouth, but you quickly covered it with your hand, glaring at him. “Can you not make it dirty?”
“I ws–fnna–say, he isff.” He mumbled into your palm, and you nodded, taking it away from him. “But who knows, maybe he was busy before and that’s why he took some time to answer–”
You left his side, turning instantly, acting as if you were fed up with his commentary, but deep down, you were grateful his comedic side was coming back up. He was slowly returning to himself, but you were still taking care of his actions. He sometimes zoned out or took a while in the shower, more than he was accustomed to. But the jokes started back up this morning, when he woke up and told you that you farted in your sleep.
He said it with a laugh, so you don’t really know if it was the truth or not, and even in your embarrassment, you were happy to see that cheeky smile on him again.
Now, another kind of situation was coming up, which was the fact that Eddie did not want you to leave despite Steve coming over. You weren’t sure how that conversation was going to turn out, but you still hoped that Steve being here would help Eddie as well. Your thoughts were cut off when two strong arms wrapped around your waist from behind, pulling you close to a chest, tightly.
“I said you were not allowed to leave.” He said, mimicking a growl. You giggled, shaking your head, rolling your eyes at his attitude.
“Definitely held hostage.”
“Fine, guilty as fucking charged, Peach.” And then he bit your neck, gently, but it was enough to send a shiver all over your body, goosebumps rising on your skin, hair standing on your arms. Your belly flipped over, and you couldn’t help but feel so blissful despite the situation.
“What are you? A vampire?”
“Vleh, vleh, vleh.” You snorted before starting to laugh hysterically. He loved Hotel Transylvania from the moment you two watched it together by chance. You just selected something random while having breakfast together one time, and he got hooked. He laughed, and he told you to never tell anyone that he liked a cartoon movie that much.
A little secret, one of the many, that you two shared together.
An hour later, the doorbell rang. Your heart got out of your throat a bit as you knew this was going to be awkward for the two of them. You wondered if you really should be here or not. Eddie asked you not to, but you couldn’t help but believe that you weren’t supposed to. You were preparing some snacks, knowing that fixing up and arranging what’s inside the boxes would take a while. Doing these kinds of things always took someone down memory lane.
Eddie walked down the stairs, drying his wet curls with a small towel, grunting on each step. You frowned, turning your head, raising an eyebrow at him.
“What’s with the grunting?”
“He has a spare key! Why do I have to open the door?” You shook your head and turned your head to keep cutting the carrots as Eddie opened the door, revealing Steve Harrington on the other side, looking like always, but you knew he wasn’t in an extremely cheery mood.
“I heard you, Munson. Don't know if you remember, but last time I barged in, I caught you and someone else in a little predicament.” Steve rolled his eyes, and you winced in shame. You could see how he stood there for a second, his hand moving on his side, as if he were in pain. Your heart ached, knowing Steve probably wanted to hug Eddie, to give and seek comfort. Eddie stepped out of the way, walking back inside to let Steve in.
Your eyes locked with his as he finally spotted you in the kitchen. You noticed the tension, not knowing how to act with one another. You weren’t Eddie’s girlfriend, and Steve didn’t seem to enjoy the idea of that when he found out about you two together, to the point of making Eddie doubt continuing this friends-with-benefits situation.
He walked over to you and patted you on the shoulder, surprising you slightly.
“You alright?” He called your name, and you nodded a bit, handing him a carrot, which he took before dipping it into the cream cheese and taking a bite.
“Yeah, you?” You noticed how he didn’t respond to you for a few seconds, as if debating his answer. He then gave you a slow nod as his eyes followed Eddie heading to the boxes. He looked at you and then gave a little jerk of his head in Eddie’s direction. He was asking you about his best friend. You gave a thumbs up, followed by a small shrug. He was okay, but that can be very volatile.
Steve nodded and walked towards his best friend, looking down at the first box. You stood in the kitchen, looking over at them as they talked, starting to pull stuff out of it. It was Wayne’s cutlery, which wasn’t much, and not really that fancy, but they were used with love and care. Steve grabbed onto the penguin wine jar, lifting it up.
“I will never understand this purchase.” Eddie scrunched up his nose, looking at it as Steve showed it off.
“Me neither… But man, did we use it.” You heard Eddie say, and Steve smiled a bit, putting it on the coffee table. You took a bite out of a chip, and the crunch made Eddie snap his head your way. He made a grabby hand at you, and you rolled your eyes, grabbing the bowl and walking towards them.
He grabbed a handful and shoved the chips in his mouth, and you smacked him over the head. Steve snorted at the action, turning his head to hide his laughter at Eddie’s shocked face, slowly turning to look at you.
“Gentle, jesus fucking christ.” You shook your head, putting the bowl on the coffee table as well, so they could keep munching. You looked down into the box, spotting something shiny. You reached down, getting hold of it, pulling it out, and– Eddie and Steve started cracking up while you scrunched your nose at it.
In your hand was a paper weight in the form of a tit. Nipple and all. You turned to Eddie and you showed it to him, making him cover his eyes as he laughed, as if remembering stuff when seeing it after so long.
“I can’t believe he held onto that shit.” Eddie coughed out, and Steve shook his head, wiping a tear that threatened to fall down.
“I can’t believe it either.” You were still looking at the fake breast in your hand, which was also quite heavy. Eddie calmed down, the smile still on his lips. He gently got hold of it and inspected it as he turned it over a few times.
“I gifted this to him with my first pay. I thought it was just going to be left as a joke… but he kept it.” Your frown fell immediately as he looked at the object in his hand. Steve also stopped laughing, yet his smile didn’t leave his lips. He returned to pulling things out of the box, and you opted to sit down on the couch, letting the men do it, feeling like you were inserting yourself in a moment that belonged to them only.
Items and some little pieces of furniture started coming out of the boxes, one by one, each with a small story from Eddie’s part, and sometimes, Steve would join in. Some of them didn’t have anything to tell, but others were kept in their hands for minutes as they laughed and talked, inspecting the item over and over again.
You then saw the most dreaded box being opened. The ‘Mugs’ one. For some reason, you felt like this was the one box you shouldn’t be present for. You slowly got up, and you were unnoticed as you walked up the stairs slowly, leaving the two men alone. You sat at the very top, listening to the stories Eddie told with each cup he pulled out, finding new information and new memories you didn’t know about.
Steve laughed at a few, telling Eddie how they always looked silly to him, and Eddie couldn’t agree more with him. But then, there was silence. You blinked a few times, not hearing anything at all, until finally– sniffles. Harsh breaths.
You hunched down a bit, trying not to make a sound to peek from the top of the stairs, and there you saw Steve, holding Eddie tightly against him. You pressed your hand to your chest as your eyes filled with tears. Eddie held onto Steve, his face buried in his shoulder as he cried. Steve wasn’t far behind, hearing a few of his small sobs and sniffles.
“I miss him.” Eddie confessed, as if no one really knew that. Steve nodded, and his arms tightened around his best friend.
“Yeah, I know. I know, Eddie. Me too.” Steve’s voice was broken, and you felt your own tears sliding down your cheeks as you listened to them from afar.
“I should have let you come to the funeral, I shouldn’t have–”
“You couldn’t. It’s okay, I know. You were in shock, it’s alright.” You took a deep breath in, deciding to leave them alone. You walked towards the bathroom to wash your face. You took deep breaths in as you held onto the sink, trying to center yourself. You were happy Eddie could be with his best friend, that he finally let himself be vulnerable in front of someone else. He probably needed Steve, he just didn’t realize how much.
You waited for a few more minutes, deciding to go to the bedroom to change the sheets for new ones. Then you scrolled on your phone for a while, texting Robin about Steve being there at Eddie’s. She replied she knew. She asked if there was any news or if you had talked with Eddie, but it was not the time. You weren’t going to bombard him with the ‘What are we?’ question. He needed you, and that was it, whatever that meant.
You heard a loud thump downstairs, making you sit straight up on the bed, followed by Steve’s insane laughter. You got up from the bed, rushing down the stairs only to see Eddie face down on the floor, his legs over a box he tripped over. You immediately cracked up at the sight, and you heard a grunt of pain coming from him, his hands slowly moving to press against the floor to pull himself up and glare at the both of you.
“You assholes, can’t you help me instead of laughing at me?” Steve crossed his arms over his chest and looked at you. His eyes were red from crying, but you weren’t going to point it out, nor Eddie’s red nose, be it from the fall or the crying. You smiled cheekily at Steve, shaking your head, both of you speaking at the same time.
“Nah.”
“Wow, I thought you were going to at least be better than him, Peach.” He groaned as he got up, wincing as he rubbed his right elbow. You giggled as you walked towards him, getting hold of the elbow yourself as he pouted.
“Aw, did you do a boo boo?” Eddie only glared at you, but you didn’t miss the hint of a smile on his lips as he spoke.
“I’m gonna cause one to you as well if you don’t stop making fun of poor ol’ me.” You mocked him, still rubbing onto his elbow tenderly, something that Steve didn’t miss.
“If you don’t stop making fun of poor ol’ me, blah, blah, blah.” Your voice was nasal, and a finger of his came to poke your side, making you flinch away with a giggle. Steve just stood there, looking and inspecting every movement, but you didn’t care.
“Let’s go buy those shelves for the mugs, we need somewhere to put them.” Steve said, and Eddie turned his head, nodding. Your head turned towards the kitchen counter, seeing all the collected mugs there.
The Garfield one was the one that stuck out the most.
Saturday.
And everyone was at Eddie’s. Nancy, Jonathan, Steve, Robin, Argyle, and Eden. Finally, Eddie agreed to see the rest of the group, letting them come over to his house for drinks. The mugs were now on shelves at the top of Eddie’s TV, and putting them up was actually a mess, and it got Steve to bandage his index finger because he missed a nail with the hammer.
But now they were up there for everyone to see. Nancy had a private talk with Eddie when she arrived, and immediately the two of them went up to his room. When she came back down, her eyes were reddened, as well as Eddie's. Not as bad as the past few days, but it was a relief to see him back to himself, and this time, you could say, entirely.
“He seems fine.” Robin said with a smile, and you nodded, looking at Eddie talking to Argyle, who was going on about opening his own pizza place down in the city. You smiled fondly, seeing his own on his lips. Everyone came over not to talk about what happened to him, not really dismissing it either, but rather be there to bring a smile to Eddie’s face.
“Yeah, it was a rough week… He really didn’t want to be alone.” Robin nodded, putting an arm around your shoulder, her voice lowering as she swirled the whiskey and coke glass she had in her hand.
“He didn’t want YOU to leave… cause he let Steve go easily that day…” She took a sip of her drink as you looked down at your beer bottle. “You still think there’s no chance? At this point, I think you’re joking.”
“It wasn’t the appropriate time to have that conversation, Robs.” You pointed out and she nodded, murmuring an ‘I know, I know’.
“Nancy suspects it, you know.” She confessed, and your eyes widened, looking at her. “Eddie sent a picture to her yesterday, and she spotted your jacket in the hanger. I tried telling her it might be the jacket from someone else, that yours isn’t one of a kind–”
“Fuck, but Robs, it is. She knows it.” The blue denim jacket with the Dior brand on the back. It was a gift from Liana, made specifically for you, for helping her with one of the contracts. It was done with embroidery, something you really like on clothes. Your eyes turned to look at Nancy, who was talking with Jonathan and Eden, smiling as they blabbered. Shit.
“I didn’t know if she would remember or not. She is giving Eddie the benefit of the doubt…” You felt guilt wash over you as you closed your eyes, sighing, taking a sip of your beer. “She is not going to be mad, you don’t have to worry about that.”
“How do you know?” You turned your head to look at her, and she shrugged, smiling at you.
“Cause she looked happy and excited when she saw it.” You blinked a few times, frowning as your eyes turned to look at Steve, who was preparing himself a drink at the kitchen counter in the corner. Another close friend of Eddie was happy that if he were dating someone, that would be you… So why not Steve?
“Well… Bet she will be mad at Eddie for not telling her, though.” Robin thought for a second and then nodded once.
“Yeah, that might happen.” Eddie’s eyes locked with yours after Argyle walked towards Steve to steal his drink, and then you saw him look at Robin, a frown forming on his eyebrows. You tilted your head in question as he walked towards you both, taking a sip of the beer in his hand.
“And what are you two ladies talking about?” He asked, and you opened your mouth to say something, but Robin interrupted immediately.
“About having some balls for once and doing what you feel… shit like that.” Your eyes widened as your head snapped to look at her as if she were crazy. Eddie’s eyes fell on Robin’s arm over your shoulders, and then looked down at you.
“Having balls? To do what?” Your mouth opened and closed for a few seconds, and then you felt Robin retract herself from you, humming as she walked over to Nancy.
“I have no idea, I guess about Argyle.” Eddie looked at you for one more second before giving a slow nod. His free hand came to scratch the back of his neck as he took a deep breath in.
“Um… You’re staying tonight again, right?” He asked, almost shyly, as if you would say no to him. You squinted a bit at him, acting as if you were annoyed.
“Wasn’t this a hostage situation?” He glared at you for a second before turning his head, looking around. You frowned, moving your head to see what he was looking at, only for him to turn back quickly and peck your lips, almost painfully, thanks to the force of it. You reeled back, putting your hand over your mouth. “What are you doing!?”
“They weren’t looking, Peach. But yes, you’re staying.” Your heart skipped a beat as he looked at you in a way you didn’t quite know how to describe. Your body was lit on fire, the need to hold him rushing back into your veins like a bull stampede, and you blamed the small bit of alcohol for it. The half beer you drank.
You two didn’t touch each other that way all week. It was just a lot of holding one another close, cuddling to sleep, watching TV, kissing every now and then, but never getting to the next level of it. It didn’t feel right to do so, and there was no need.
But tonight that need came back.
And you felt it on him, too. You felt it in the room, even with all your friends in it. There was this feeling, this intuition that something was happening tonight for the two of you, and your body was already shaking with anticipation. You wanted everyone in the room gone, immediately, but you knew you couldn’t do that.
So you two went back to the rest of the people as if nothing had just happened, acting as if you arrived at his house before everyone else did. Your eyes kept clashing with his, the tension only rising the more time passed. You tried paying attention to Jonathan, talking to you about his new cocktails in the bar, you tried paying attention to Eden talking about how she is about to graduate in Computer Engineering, but you kept being drawn back to him, like a magnet.
Two hours later, the people started to slowly leave the house, the last ones being Steve, Robin, and Nancy. How were you going to lie to Nancy? What was your excuse for staying? Should you act like you were leaving? Should you say you were gonna go to the toilet before heading out?
“You’re staying to help Eddie clean, right?” Her voice interrupted, and her eyes were on you, a smile on her lips. She knew. She wasn’t doubting. She wasn’t suspecting it.
“Y-Yeah, I think so…” You responded as Eddie put an arm around your shoulders, showing off the amount of cups and snacks on the tables and counters with his free hand, as if presenting a masterpiece. You groaned at the display, whining as you pouted. “You all are a fucking mess, it’s literally just eight people. How can eight people do this!?”
“We’re animals, sweetheart.” You heard Nancy’s giggle, making you turn your head to see her looking at Eddie for a few seconds before grabbing Robin’s hand. Steve glanced at the both of you, but mostly, his eyes were on Eddie. You turned to look at him, only to find him staring down at you, making your stomach knot into itself.
“Well, off we go. I’m tired as fuck, and my finger is hurting again.” Steve snapped you out of your trance, making you look at him. You nodded while he gave a wave before walking out. Robin winked your way, and Nancy was still smiling as the door closed behind her.
And now, it was just you and Eddie.
You felt your heart about to kill you from how fast it was beating. It felt as if a bomb was ticking uncontrollably now, close to detonation. You felt his arm leave your shoulders, making you look up at him. He was smiling innocently, pulling his sleeves up towards his elbows.
“Well, time to start cleaning.” Your mouth fell open, and you huffed, shaking your head. You didn’t want to clean. Not tonight. You walked towards the kitchen island counter and hopped on, crossing your arms and legs while frowning at him. He was still smiling, mimicking your arms, crossing them over his chest.
“I don’t want to clean.”
“Oh, and what does little Peach want to do, hm?” He was teasing you, testing you, and you could feel the tension slowly build up in the room, the more he stared at you.
“Sleep.” You absolutely did not want to sleep, but even if you did feel like tonight you two might do something more than just mere touches and kisses, you didn’t want to push Eddie into it. His smile faltered slightly, and he let out a sigh, shaking his head and walking over to the other counter to start throwing the cans and bottles into the trash.
“Yeah, I guess cleaning can wait till tomorrow.” His voice was slow, making you uncross your arms from your chest as well as your legs, frowning as you stared at his back. “It was nice seeing everyone today.”
Your heart warmed up at his words, and you nodded, not caring that he couldn’t see you right now.
“It was… Was Nance… mad that she couldn’t visit you before?” You were testing him to see if he would tell you what had happened with Nancy in his room. Maybe she did confront him about you two, but by his shrug, you assumed she didn’t.
“Oh, not exactly… More like, disappointed… Told me I was an idiot for thinking I was alone in this and all…”
“But you aren’t alone. You know that.” And he went silent for a second, his movements stopping, and you felt a chill running down your spine, as if it knew that something was changing in the air right now.
“Yeah… I’m not alone anymore… Especially not with you… Right, Peach?”
He slowly turned to face you, and your breath was knocked out of your lungs as your face started heating up. He looked so serious, yet it didn’t look threatening or anything like that. It was just a serious face for a serious conversation. Your eyes averted, not being able to contain the nerves that slowly invaded you, looking at your lap.
“I… Define ‘Especially not with you’.” You wanted to know if what he meant was more than physical. If what he meant was more than just two bodies finding pleasure with one another. If what he meant was more than just getting together to satisfy each other, and that was it.
He gulped, and you saw him take a deep breath in, making you look up at him again. He was still looking at you, his eyes never leaving your face. His hand came to scratch the back of his neck, a nervous tick you know he had by now. He was nervous. Eddie was nervous.
“I think it’s time for the two of us to have that talk.” Your world stopped. Oh, fuck. Your breathing quickened a bit, and your chest felt heavy as you felt sweat on your fingertips. Your nerves were causing havoc inside of you, and you were becoming a wreck by the second. The only way for you to maneuver over this topic was comedy.
“You’re making it sound like… It’s the end of the world.” Probably not the best joke. Not one that should be done in a moment like this, but you felt like the entire world was watching you two right now, waiting for the next move. Eddie looked at you, shaking his head, taking a deep breath in before he began talking.
“Peach… What we do it’s not something normal friends with benefits do.” Your heart was already plummeting to the floor. Have you read the signs wrong? Have you gotten hopeful for nothing?
“I– Well, I do know that…” Your eyes were locked with his, and time stood still for a few seconds before he took a step towards you, making the hairs on your arms stand up.
“You know this is not just… that then. Right?”
The air got knocked out of your lungs. Was he saying what you thought he was saying? Were you understanding wrong? You couldn’t disguise the desperation that lingered in your voice when you talked, feeling a lump starting to form in your throat, and you felt so stupid for becoming emotional, but– Fuck, it’s been months.
“I– What is it, then?” Eddie got taken aback by your words, his eyes showing nervousness as he took more steps your way, closing the distance, slowly.
“Peach, I think you know…” His hands finally came to touch your knees, looking at them for a few seconds as he deliberated his next words. “I— I need to know if we’re on the same page right here because–”
His jaw clenched, and you felt like you were soaring into the sky, not realizing you weren’t answering him, not even moving towards him. He was right there for you, for the taking. He was here, and he was confessing himself to you. You weren’t wrong. Robin was right. This was happening. He was happening. Due to your lack of response, he kept talking,
“I have to leave if you aren’t, Peach. I need to walk out of it before I–” And your eyes widened, your hands finding his in a rushed manner, and your legs opened to push him close to you, for him to get in between as you shook your head desperately. No. No. No. He can’t walk away from you. No.
“No– No… I’m–” Fuck, why are you so choked up? Why can’t you talk properly? Why? He just stood there, his head tilting in question. You wondered if his heart was about to explode in the same way yours was about to.
“You?” You closed your eyes as you gulped down the lump as best as you could.
“I– Fuck, you should know how I feel about you now, I– By the way I act, or– What I do…” You cringed at your words, shit. This wasn’t romantic at all. This wasn’t the amazing confession you had rehearsed in your mind a thousand times, and now that it’s here, you were acting poorly.
He wasn’t answering, so you looked up at him, his serious face slowly turning into a cheeky smile, his dimples showing off your way. You frowned slightly, wondering why he was smiling like that, even if it made your breath stutter.
“I know. I can read people like the back of my hand, remember? I just wanted you to say it out loud. Admit you are crazy for me and all that.”
Your mouth fell open at his words, frowning in slight annoyance. Why would he play with you like that? He knew? He knew about your feelings all along? He knew how he made you feel, yet never said anything or acted upon it? Or well, maybe he was, just now how you expected, but still. You pressed your hands on his chest and pushed him slightly, away from you, which he only stumbled back one step.
“You dick! I hate–”
Your words were cut off instantly when two rough hands came to cradle your cheeks, pulling you into a deep kiss that stole every breath and word away. A kiss that you knew was not like the others because you could feel it in every movement and in the way he held you. His body flushed against yours, and your hands moved to grip his waist, feeling your cheeks burning with happiness, with nervousness, with embarrassment.
One of his hands went to the back of your neck to pull you even deeper into the kiss. He groaned a bit into your lips as you two moved in a dance you had been rehearsing for months now. He was holding your head as if he were holding a treasure, holding you just like he held that Garfield mug.
You could feel the heat coming off of him; the more he kissed you, the more it all intensified. His shirt was crumpling under your fists as you tried to move him closer, but it was impossible at this point. Your mind was turned into mush, the world around you was nonexistent, and it was just him. Everything was him.
His lips slowly separated from you with a smack, his breath hitting your lips as he kept stealing pecks. He was almost agitated, desperate, vulnerable.
“I like you, Peach…” Another kiss that detonated your poor heart, along with his words. Those words you were expecting to hear at one point, hoping that they were at all there. “Fuck, I– I really fucking like you…”
You didn’t know if you were breathing. It all felt like a dream. It didn’t feel real just because of how perfect it was, how perfect it felt to have your feelings be reciprocated in this manner, with the same intensity. But he had to know it too. You had to come back to your senses. You had to find your voice again.
“I really like you too, Eddie…” He smiled against your lips, prompting you to do it as well, a joyous giggle escaping you before he kissed you again. The hand behind your neck moved to cradle your other cheek once again. He pulled away, his eyes looking for your hazy ones as you two breathed heavily.
“Say you’re mine…” His eyes showed an intensity like never before, and you were still in awe at the whole situation. He gulped, scanning your face as he waited for your answer. “I need to hear it… I need to hear you say you’re mine and mine only, sweetheart.”
You didn’t know why there was any need for that. He should know it. He should know you were his and have been his for a long while now. But maybe he wanted to hear it from you. And you would comply, because either way, it was the truth.
“I’m yours, Eds… Just yours…” He smiled widely, and you thought you saw him tremble, before he pulled your face in for another searing kiss. You felt your eyes fill up with tears, but you weren’t going to fight them this time. There was no need to fight against your feelings anymore.
“Hell yes…” He cheered onto your lips, making you chuckle as he kept kissing you, never stopping. You wanted to know, too. You wanted to hear him say it too. You pulled away from the kiss, but your lips never stopped brushing his.
“What about you?” His eyes found yours, and you’ve never seen him looking down at you this way. It felt as if you were his entire world right now. Was it conceited to believe that? Was it too much to think that way? He gave a huff before talking, his voice low, rough, yet deep with emotion.
“I’m yours, Peach… I’m all yours.” His hands now wrapped tightly around your entire frame as yours wrapped around his shoulders. You could feel him rubbing your back as he kissed you again, sealing the confession. You were on cloud nine, or on another planet, from how light you felt. The nerves were still there, the turning in your stomach was still happening, but now it was for another reason entirely.
Happiness.
You were so happy. You could feel it in him too, as he kissed you, deepening the kiss after a while. His tongue danced with yours as his hips clashed against you, eliciting some small moans against his lips. The temperature around you was quickly building up, and all you wanted was to hold him in the most intimate of ways. This would be different from all those other times. This was going to be completely different.
His hands moved downwards towards the back of your thighs. You felt him grip you tightly before he did a little hop and moved away from the counter, making you gasp through the kiss and cross your legs around his waist. You pulled away from the kiss as he chuckled, walking towards the stairs. Your eyes widened, shaking your head, yet a smile was on your lips.
“I swear, Eddie, if you drop me on the stairs–”
“I am not going to drop you, Peach!” He walked while carrying you as if you were feather light. If he was putting in any effort, he was not showing it. You clung to him as you whined at each step he took on the narrow staircase. “I carried Steve up here once. Princess style.”
“What!?” Your head snapped to look at him, and he was smiling, nodding as he finally reached the top.
“He was blasted off drunk, and he couldn’t help me at all. The couch was taken by Nancy, so I had to make due. She didn’t want to sleep in my bed.” You rolled your eyes, your teeth nipping on his jaw, making him groan your way.
“I wonder why… Slut.” His eyes widened, looking at you for a few seconds as if he couldn’t believe what you had just called him. Your heart was too joyful to care about the consequences of your comment, and he glared at you before smirking.
“You’re calling me a slut, huh?” And just like that, you were thrown onto the bed, making you squeal as you bounced against the mattress. He was instantly crawling on top of you after he took his shoes off. He was smirking, and there was lust in his eyes, lots of it, but something else resided in them now, something more tender. “Guess I have to remind you just how bad of a slut you turn for me, Peach.”
He was dirty-talking to you, but there was another tone to it. It was still the same volume, the same vibrato, the same rough, lustful implication, yet it was different. Everything was different.
From the way that he kissed you stupid into the bed, from the way he undressed you, from the way he kissed down your entire body, from the way he didn’t hold back when marking you this time. He left hickies on your neck, on your sides, on your legs, and with these, you knew everything was actually real. It was happening. Eddie was marking you as yours.
So you did the same.
When you got on top of him, you made sure to mark him in the same manner, and he didn’t stop you, nor complain. In fact, it was as if Eddie was more vocal than before. He kept calling your name, over and over and over. He called you ‘Baby.’ You kissed him all over, his nose, his cheeks, his collarbones, his chest, and his legs, just everywhere.
You rode him as he held you close, kissing your neck, nibbling in between the crook of it and your shoulder. His forehead was sweaty as you two moaned and groaned against each other. Calling one another's names over and over again.
You fluttered around him as he kissed your neck, then your shoulder, and you climaxed when he sucked on your skin, marking you up again. He tipped over the edge just a second after you did, and he was left looking at you, still holding you close to him as you straddled his hips.
“My girl.” You smiled breathlessly at the nickname, and he moved the two of you, laying you down on the bed without moving from inside of you. He kissed the tip of your nose, then your neck, his teeth grazing over your skin as if he were to bite down, pressing himself even deeper inside of you, making you choke on your breath. “Mine…”
You felt emotional, tears threatening to fill your eyes as you held him close to you. Nothing could compare to this moment. You were his, and he was yours. After this, there would be no more hiding, no more secrets, and you could go out in public, be like this with your friends, around strangers, finally introducing Eddie to your mom. You could barely believe it.
“Yours… Just yours, Eddie…”
Finally.

summary: attempts to get on your good side are made.

It started the week after Christmas. To most it could be seen as a peace offering. An olive branch being offered as a way to get on your good side. Something the person that left said offering at your desk had not done yet in the few short weeks he’s been working here.
When you walked back from the bathroom you noticed something on your desk that wasn’t there before. You picked up the small object and examined its wrapper; a small butterscotch morsel. You sighed, taking the candy in your hand and turning your attention to the bay.
Pushing open the door, you walked around the cars until you got to Bob’s station, stopping just a few feet away from where Eddie was bent over the hood of a Jeep. Taking aim, you reel your arm back, launching the piece of candy across the stations. It hits him smack dab in the back of the head, making his greasy hand reflexively reach for the spot where it hit. He leaned up, looking all around until his eyes met yours, and then he smiled.
“Hey there, sweetheart,” he says, making you cringe. You hated the nicknames he gave you.
“I told you not to call me that,” you spit, scrunching up your nose at him.
“Sorry, ma’am,” Eddie corrects, ducking his head down. He looks around at the ground around him until he finds the offending piece of candy, picking it up and holding it in his hand. “I see you got my gift,” he says, shaking candy in his hand.
“I don’t like butterscotch,” you say plainly, crossing your arms. Whether you actually liked butterscotch or not didn’t matter to you in this scenario.
“Really?” He says with a tilt of the head. “That surprises me. Took me for a butterscotch girl.”
“That’s what you get for making assumptions about me,” you say, rolling your eyes at him. He huffs out a laugh, unwrapping the candy and popping it into his mouth, his cheek puffing out from where the candy sits.
“I’ll try something different next time,” he says, giving you a finger gun.
“No, you won’t. Don’t do it again.”
But, of course, he didn’t listen.
A few days later, while you were on the phone with a customer that was, frankly, getting on your last nerve, the doors to the bay opened up. You ignored the sounds of the garage as you listened to the customer complain about the price of a part replacement, wishing you could just tell him to go somewhere else if he didn’t want to pay the price you were giving him.
Just as you were about to speak again, you see something out of the corner of your eye. You turn your head to find Eddie with a finger over his mouth, instructing you to be quiet. Saying nothing, you watch him with a mouth agape as he reaches into his coverall pocket, pulling something out of it. His hand moves slowly, reaching over the counter and landing on the desk in front of you. His hand opens and he retracts it, leaving a Hershey kiss in it’s wake. You blink, looking at it dumbfoundedly.
“Hello? Hello?” You hear from the other side of the line.
“I’m sorry, sir, I was trying to see if I could find the part cheaper on another website,” you say as your recovery, shooing Eddie away with your free hand. Eddie takes the hint and scurries off, the sound the garage signifying that he did indeed leave.
You finish the phone call and hang up the phone. After threats of looking elsewhere, you finally convinced the man that you would have his car put at the top priority list if he stayed in business with you, which seemed to be enough to satisfy him. You brought your hands to your temples, attempting to massage the impending migraine away. Looking off to your side, the Hershey kiss catches your attention. You contemplate for a moment. The sweet treat didn’t sound like something so bad after that hellish conversation. But you didn’t want Eddie to think he won if you ate it. With a sigh, you grabbed the piece of chocolate and shoved it into your drawer for later.
But Eddie didn’t stop.
Every couple of days Eddie found a way to drop off a little piece of candy to you. It didn’t matter if you told him to quit playing around or that he was slacking off at his job, he was still sneaking you a kiss one way or another. They were starting making a little collection in your desk drawer, so you decided to take measures into your own hands.
“There,” you say placing the little glass dish that you got at the dollar store on the counter. You opened up your drawer and collected the candies, letting them cascade into the bowl with little thuds. Right on cue, the door to the bay opens up and fills the lobby with the sounds of rock music and various machine sounds.
“Oh, good,” you say, gesturing to the bowl in front of you, “just in time. Go head and make your deposit here.”
Eddie stops in his tracks, looking at the little candy filled dish. A toothy grin spreads across his face that slightly annoyed you. You were hoping he would be more upset, but he’s clearly more amused than anything. Reaching into the pocket of his coveralls, he pulls another kiss out and plops it into the bowl with a tink.
“This is a pretty good idea,” Eddie says, checking the bowl out, moving it a few inches with his finger.
“Thanks,” you say before sitting back down at your seat, unhappy with his complement. You swivel your chair to face your computer, going back to your business as Eddie stands at your counter. His finger taps on the marble and instantly annoys you. “Can I help you with something?” You ask, a bite to your tone.
“Actually, yes,” he says, leaning his top half over the counter and encroaching into your personal space. You look at him pointedly, but he doesn’t back off. “I need a part ordered.”
“Put in an order form then,” you say, keeping your eyes on your computer screen.
“It’s not for the shop,” he says, and that got your attention.
“What’s it for if it’s not for the shop?”
“It’s for my van. Kinda need a new muffler.”
“I thought you were louder than normal coming into the shop this morning,” you say, and Eddie laughs.
“Glad I could get your attention.”
“You know you still have to pay for the part,” you explain to him.
“I know, but your dad said I’d only have to pay shop price for it since I can put it on myself.”
“That’s true,” you say, pulling up one of the websites that you order your parts from. “What are you looking for?”
Eddie rounds the corner of your desk until he’s standing directly next to you. It catches you by surprise to the point where you stop and stare at him like he has two heads. You can smell the mixture grease and of his cologne wafting into your nose from how close he is to you.
Eddie says what he’s looking for, but you don’t react, still unsure of the sudden closeness of him to you. Eddie waves a hand in front of your face and it brings you back to the matter at hand. You take a hand and press it into his side, shoving him back a few steps.
“Personal space, please,” you finally say, shaking your head.
“Oh, sorry,” he responds, shifting where he stands. He repeats the part again, and you start typing it into the search bar. It takes a few awkward moments to load, but eventually the screen pops up with a few results for the muffler Eddie is looking for.
“That’s it!” Eddie says, his voice startling you as he’s now leaned in next to you as he looks at the screen. You turn to look at him, but he’s too focused on the monitor to notice your disgruntledness. “How much is it?”
“Looks like it’s running around $43 on this site,” you say, leaning away from him. He straightens up, bringing a hand to his chin.
“Do I have to pay it now?” He asks. “Or can I pay for it when it comes in?”
“We would charge it to the company and you would pay for it when the part comes in.”
“Awesome,” Eddie says nodding his head. “When would it come in?”
“Probably within the week. This company is in the state so it doesn’t take long for parts to arrive.”
“And we get paid this week, so that should work out…” Eddie gets lost in thought for a moment, and you silently wish he would leave your space already.
“So you want me to order it?” You ask, hoping to speed this up.
“Yes, princess--I mean yes ma’am.” He corrects himself at the last second, but the nickname still sends a wave of anger through you.
“Alright, I’ll order it. Now, get back to work.” Eddie gives you a little salute before walking behind you and back through the bay doors.
“Is it okay if I work through my lunch?” You hear Eddie ask as he approaches your desk.
“Sure you can,” your dad says, suddenly appearing from his office with a stack of papers. He sets them down in front of you and you grab them, looking through the invoices.
“Okay, cool. I’m gonna pull my van in, if that’s okay?” Eddie asks.
“Go ahead,” your dad says. Eddie gives a quick thanks and then is gone in a flash.
Just as he leaves, a growl erupts from your stomach, eliciting a laugh from your dad.
“Did you forget your lunch or something?” He asks.
“Left if on the counter,” you say frustratingly.
“Do you want some of mine?”
“No, I’ll just order something,” you say with a sigh, “Haven’t had the chance to think about it yet today.”
“Well, don’t wait too long, it sounds like your body is about to eat itself,” your dad says before heading towards the break room. You grumble under your breath, setting the papers that he gave you down before fishing through your drawer until you could find the Chinese take out menu. You dialed the number and placed your order, the restaurant giving you an estimated 30-45 minute wait time. Your stomach growled again, and but all you could do was agree to wait and hang up.
Sitting back in your chair, you look up to see the candy dish you had sitting up on the counter. You deliberated taking a piece and eating it to try and quell your hunger until your food arrived. Leaning back, you look out to see Eddie already has his car back up and is in the process of getting it set up to work on. Surely he was distracted enough that if you snuck a piece he wouldn’t notice.
You leaned forward in your chair, reaching out for the little pieces of temptation that were just in your reach. Snagging one, you examine it in your hand for a moment before unwrapping the wrapper. Wasting no time after it’s free of it’s confines, you pop the chocolate delight into your mouth and let the sweet taste hit your tongue. It tastes like heaven in your current state, ending all too quickly when you have to swallow it.
Looking at the dish again, you think it couldn’t hurt to have one more. After all, it would be a while before your food showed up. You grab another piece, unwrapping it quickly and eating it without second thought. The second one turned into a third, and then a fourth. You couldn’t stop yourself, each piece of chocolate better than the last. It was only when you got the sudden feeling of being watched that you paused in your indulgences. Turning slowly, your eyes met with a pair of brown ones that matched the treats you were currently devouring. They were creased at the edges due to an upturned grin on the mans face that they belonged to.
You’d been caught taking the olive branch that had been offered to you.
Out of instinct, you quickly raise your hand, your middle finger prominently on display as you flip off the man staring you down. He lets out a laugh that you can only see, the glass between you blocking out the surely obnoxious sound. You turn away from him with a growl, laying your eyes on the massacre that had happened to your desk. Picking up the trash can, you swept the small foils into the bin, getting rid of the evidence of what had happened. You had to remember to take out the trash by the end of your shift today.
Snow fell softly onto the ground outside of the office doors. It was a blinding site as you were up and personal with the glass at the current moment, wishing you had a way to cover the scene outside as you worked on the task at hand. It wasn’t one you were fond of, but it was one your dad insisted upon as the next impending holiday drew nearer.
For many reasons valentines day was not your favorite. It fed into the commercialization of holidays that you hated for one. It was also way too pink and red for your liking. But most of all, it was about the one thing you despised the most. The fake, ick ridden idea that love was something to be celebrated. It felt like the whole holiday was made to mock you and your disdain for the feeling that you swore to yourself that you’d never even sing about if you could help it. If Dolly Parton, as beautiful as she is, could write a song about another woman stealing her man, then you know love isn’t worth it.
And yet, here you are, hanging up the crude hearts and little cupids that your dad had you pick up from the local party store. You held the tape between your fingers, pushing up the current garland against the cold metal of the window frame until you found it sufficient, sticking said tape over the paper to keep it in place. The sound of the bay door caught your attention, and your face falls flat when you see your least favorite coworker.
“Having fun up there?” Eddie asks as he walks over to you, not quite as tall at you were standing on the step stool underneath you.
“You think I’m having fun doing this?” You ask him, and he shakes his head.
“Knowing you, I’m sure you’re just delighted right now.”
“You know me so well already,” you say with a fake coo, bringing a hand to your heart for dramatic effect.
“That’s my job, sweethea-” You shoot Eddie a look that makes him stop mid sentence. “Sorry, ma’am,” he says with a nod, but he’s still smiling.
“Did you come to make a deposit today, Munson?” You ask, expecting a piece of chocolate to be pulled from his coveralls.
“Nope, you ran me dry. Gotta wait until all the Valentine’s chocolate goes on sale for more,” he says with a shrug.
“Then what did you come in here for?” You ask, not sure why else he needs to be in here bothering you.
“It’s slow today,” he says pointing a thumb back at the bay, “Thought you might need some help.”
Initially the thought irritated you that Eddie wanted to slack off in the garage to help you. The guys out in the bay would never abandon their post, finding something to do to help out a bit. You wondered if Eddie even asked if anyone needed any help. But the more you thought about it, the more you thought about all the work you needed to get done that was being taken up by this stupid decorating.
So, Eddie wanted to help you? Fine.
You step down from your stool and walk over to your desk, grabbing another garland and walking it over to him. “Here,” you say handing him the paper, “hang this up like I did that one.” You hand him the little roll of scotch tape and turn around, heading back to your desk. Wordlessly, you grab a stack of invoices and start going over them.
If Eddie has any issue with the task you gave him, he didn’t say. Wordlessly, he followed your instructions and hung the garland up like you told him. You barely paid him much attention while you worked to separate the papers by date, and then again by name. It wasn’t until he approached the counter that you even remembered he was there. He looked over the other decorations that sat there and parsed through them.
“These need to go anywhere specific?” He asks, picking up a small stack of assorted hearts and other cut outs.
“Nope, just make it look nice,” you say, barely looking up at him.
“Aye aye, captain,” he says as he turns on his heel, walking away without another word.
From then on only the sounds of the radio and Eddie’s occasional ripping of tape or fiddling of papers could be heard in the lobby. You cringed at the lovey-dovey songs that came from your dad’s office, wishing you could go in and just turn the damn thing off at this point.
“Hey Dad,” you called towards his door. You only called him dad at work if you really wanted something, so you hoped he would be more inclined to listen to your request by calling him that.
“Yes dear?” He calls back in a sing songy tone.
“Can you put it on The HXC, please?”
You hear the scrambling static of the radio stations as your dad turns the dial, eventually landing on the local rock station. It’s about half way through Metallica’s Master of Puppets, which wasn’t your favorite, but it was better than the bullshit playing before.
“Oh, hell yeah,” you hear Eddie say. Looking up at him, you see he looks as if he’s playing air guitar to the music, bobbing forward and back as he does.
“Fan of Metallica?” You ask him. He stops and turns to look at you, almost surprised that you’re even speaking to him.
“Huge fan,” he says with a grin and you nod your head. “I know this song on guitar.”
“Of course you play guitar,” you say, rolling your head dramatically as you speak.
“Does that do anything for you?” He asks playfully, his eyebrows jumping up and down.
“Not a lick,” you say, deadpanning him.
“Damn, I was sure you liked guys in bands.” He says, snapping his fingers.
“Another assumption,” you say, pointing at him. “Bold of you to assume I like anything. Or anyone for that matter.”
“You don’t even have a celebrity crush?” You shake your head. You may have a poster of David Lee Roth in your room, but Eddie didn’t need to know that. You told yourself it was more for appreciation sake than admiration anyway. “Damn, do you like anything?”
“I like rock music an and ice cold beer.”
“You must be your father’s favorite son,” Eddie quips with a laugh.
“I like girly things, too,” you say defensively.
“Do you like flowers?” How specific.
“I like some flowers.” You think for a moment. “Mostly sunflowers. They bloom at my favorite time of year.”
“Ah, so you’re a fall girl, huh?”
“I like the transition between summer and fall. The weather starts to cool down, but isn’t too cold yet. And it’s close to Halloween.”
“Oh, you like Halloween? What’s your favorite scary movie?” Eddie asks, walking over to your desk, leaning over the counter.
“Um, probably Halloween. Big fan of Michael Meyers.”
“That’s a good one. What about Friday the 13th?”
You shift in your chair to better face him. “It was good, but not my favorite. I couldn’t believe it was his mom the whole time.”
“I know! What a twist, right?” Eddie says throwing his hands up.
“Right! I was so--wait a minute.” You put a finger up and close your eyes. “We’re at work. We should be working.”
“Shit, you’re right. Sorry, boss!” Eddie calls out towards your dad’s office.
“You guys were fine! I was enjoying the conversation,” your dad says.
“Shoo,” Eddie says pretending to wipe his forehead with his hand. “Not gonna lose our jobs today.”
“I wasn’t worried about that,” you say, peering around him to check out the work he’s done. To your surprise, it doesn’t look half bad. The hearts all seem to be in a neat zig-zag pattern along the glass of the bay, alternating between designs so it doesn’t look too crowded in one spot. “Not bad,” you say, giving a nod towards the decorations.
“Oh, thanks,” Eddie says, turning to look at his work. “It’s kinda nice to turn your brain off and just tape things.”
“I have stuff to hang from the ceiling if you’re ready for the next task,” you say, reaching under your desk for a plastic bag full of more decorations.
“Yeah, I can do that,” Eddie says, looking up at the ceiling. “I’ll probably need a ladder, though.”
“Well, duh. Didn’t expect you to jump the whole time,” you say with a laugh. Eddie’s head snaps to you, a wide grin spreading across his face. “What?” You ask, unsure of his reaction.
“You laughed,” he said.
“Yeah, I know how to laugh,” you say defensively. “I’m not as stuffy as you think I am. I just take my job very seriously. This place is going to be mine one day and I treat it as such.”
“That’s so cool.”
“What, that I’m going to own this place?” Eddie nods. You shrug, not trying to make a big deal out of it. “I don’t know if it’s “cool,” per say. It’s a lot of responsibility.”
“Yeah, but you’re going to be a cool boss lady. Can’t wait to work under you.”
The thought of Eddie being someone under you one day was enough to make you smile. You’d be his boss, and you’d get to tell him what to do without question from your dad.
“That’s if you make it that long,” you chuckle.
“True, but I don’t see myself leaving anytime soon. Really like it here so far.”
“That’s because you’re in here doing piddly work for me instead of your actual job.”
Eddie waves his hand at you with a pshh. “That’s just an added perk. I really do like working on cars. It’s fun to do stuff with my hands.”
“Well, I guess we’ll see what happens. Maybe you’ll be the next Bob. He’s been here since the previous owner.”
“Yeah, that dude is seriously old. Like, should have retired ten years ago old.”
“He tried to, but I think his wife was trying to get him to go out more and he didn’t want to, so he came back to work.”
“He kinda reminds me of my uncle. Really hard worker.” Eddie’s cheery expression drops at the mention of his uncle and you’re quick to wonder what could be making him so despondent over the subject. But, you choose not to pry for the sake of time being more wasted.
“Well, you better go get that ladder,” you say after a quiet beat. Eddie looks at you and nods.
“Where’s it at?”
“In the back room,” you say, pointing your thumb behind you. Eddie nods again and takes off.
You get a few moments of peace before Eddie is lugging the ladder into the lobby. He gets right to work, not bothering to ask you where things should be hung. But he seems to be getting on fine on his own, so you preoccupy yourself with your work. A solid hour goes by with no words spoken, only the sounds of the radio and Eddie going up and down the ladder to be heard. It was slow season in the shop, so you were able to get a lot done in a fairly quick amount of time. Setting down the final invoice, you decide it’s time to take a smoke break.
“Tony, I’m running outside,” you call out, throwing on your jacket.
“I’ll cover phones,” your father calls back.
“Takin’ a smoke?” Eddie asks as he descends from the ladder.
“Yeah, I’ll be right back. There’s more in the bag you can put up if you want.”
“I’m gonna come out with you if that’s cool,” Eddie says, setting the remaining decorations down on the counter. You sigh, sagging your shoulders.
“Well hurry up then,” you say as you head for the bay door.
Eddie rushes ahead of you, pulling the door open and holding it for you. He does a bow to usher you inside the bay and you roll your eyes at him. Once you’re through the threshold, Eddie bolts past you to his locker, quickly putting his coat on as he tries to catch up with you. As you push the door open, his long arm extends from behind you, his body going flush against yours as he swings it open all the way. The cold air hits you and instantly chills your body, but you rush into it just to get away from the man standing behind you.
“You really have a problem with personal space,” you say as you walk over to the plastic ashtray.
“Would you be surprised to hear that I’ve been told that before?” Eddie says, fishing through his pocket for his cigarettes.
“Not at all. I think you need a ruler to help you judge your distance sometimes,” you say, pulling your lighter out to light your own cigarette. You try to spin it a few times, but it just wont seem to catch a spark no matter how hard you try.
“Need a light?” Eddie asks, taking a few steps toward you.
“Fuck, I guess so,” you say shaking your lighter to find it’s ran out of fluid. You turn towards him and flip your hand palm side up, fully expecting him to hand you his lighter. Instead, you find him directly in front of you, which makes you stop in your tracks. He raises his hand, capturing the end of the cigarette in your mouth and holding it in place. You watch as he brings the end of his own lit cigarette and connects it with yours. You get a good look at him up close; his face covered in small freckles and a scar on his cheek. His plump lips wrapped around his cigarette. His big, brown eyes that look up at you, making you feel caught for looking.
“Puff on it,” Eddie says around his cigarette when you don’t do anything. Your brain kicks back on after not being able to compute the closeness and you start to puff on the stick, feeling the heat entering your mouth as the cigarette catches. Smoke billows from between your lips and you would think Eddie would take that as his cue to pull away. But he doesn’t. He takes a long drag from his cigarette, letting the smoke pour from his mouth barely a foot away from your face. You take a step back from him, starting to feel uneasy with how his proximity was making you feel.
“J-just give me the lighter next time,” you say, turning your head to blow the smoke from your mouth.
Eddie smiles at your words, finally straightening up and putting some distance between the two of you. You release the tension in your shoulders that you didn’t realize you were holding and bring the cigarette to your mouth to take a long drag from it.
“You have pretty eyes.” You look at Eddie with shock, not expecting him to say something like that to you.
“Don’t look at my eyes,” you say as you turn around, feeling a blush creeping up on your face. Eddie laughs, walking around you to be in front of you again. You turn once more, but he just follows you as you move. “Ugh, you are so annoying,” you say, stomping your foot in frustration.
“I’ve been told that before, too,” Eddie says with a laugh.
“Yes, there was a part that was supposed to be delivered to us yesterday, but we still have not received it?”
It was another typical day in the office. A part not being delivered when promised. People dropping off their cars with complaints about noises from their engines or their heaters not working. The radio playing sappy love songs that drove you crazy with each passing second. Well, that was not typical, but your dad insisted on keeping the station on considering the special occasion.
It was valentines day.
“Okay, I’ll hold,” you say, letting out a sigh when you heard the sound of waiting music start playing. As you tapped the pen on your desk, you felt the cold rush of air coming in from the front door. Not bothering to look up, you tell them politely that you’ll be with them momentarily and continue waiting on the phone. It was only when your name was said that you finally looked up at the customer.
Only, it wasn’t a customer.
“Are you her?” The man asks. A sinking feeling fills you as you see he’s holding a bouquet of roses.
“Maybe,” you say slowly, still holding the phone to your ear as you stand.
“Well, these are for her. So if you could make sure she gets them, I’d appreciate it.” The man sets the glass down on the counter and turns around, heading out the door to leave, another cold gush of wind following behind him.
You’re left with the roses on your desk, staring you down. Picking them up, you bring them closer to examine them.
“Hello, are you still there?” The voice on the other line pulls you from your current predicament, leaving you to set the roses aside for later. They sat there, mocking you as you argued on the phone with the parts dealer about not meeting their deadline and putting your shop behind. But after sorting out the ordeal that was the missing part, your mind is immediately back on the flowers that taunted you during the duration of your call.
Maybe your dad got them for you? You don’t know why he would, knowing about your feelings towards the holiday, but you wouldn’t totally put it past him. Would it be weird to admit that you kind of enjoyed getting them? It goes against all your morals, hating the idea of love and all, but it was nice that someone thought of you. Oh god, are you smiling over flowers?
Grabbing the vase, you spin the flowers around to look at them closer. That’s when a little card catches your eye. You pluck it from it’s stand and read it over.
“Sorry they’re not sunflowers.
Love, Eddie”
“That son of a bitch,” you whisper to yourself. You immediately stand from your chair, taking the vase in your hand and march right out into the bay. “Eddie Munson!” You call out, loud enough to be heard over the music. The guys all stop what their doing and look at you, watching intently as you stomp your way over to where Eddie was working on a car that was up on the lift.
“Oh, hey,” he says when he notices you.
“Don’t “hey” me,” you spit, stopping just short of him. “What the hell is this?” You shove the vase into his chest.
“I see you got my gift. Happy Valentine’s day, sweetheart.” He says with gooey sentiments.
“Have you not gathered that I don’t do Valentine’s day. Or love. Or any of this bullshit.” You continue to shove the flowers in his chest, but he doesn’t budge, simply shoving his hands in his pockets.
“You told me you like flowers. I told them to put on there my apologies for them not being sunflowers. Did they forget that?” He asks with genuine concern.
“No, it’s on there,” you say, relenting and pulling the flowers away from him.
“Oh, good. I asked them for sunflowers. But, like you mentioned, they are out of season.”
You huffed, wrapping your hands around the vase and look down at the flowers. Sure, they weren’t sunflowers, but Eddie did try to get them for you. Was it really such a bad thing for someone to do something nice for you? “You really asked them?” You say, not looking up at him.
“I did,” he says with a smile. “But,” he starts, taking a step towards you, “if you don’t want them, I’ll gladly take them back. Give them to someone else. I’m sure I can find someone out there who wants to be my valentine.” His hand reaches out for the flowers, but you snatch them away, turning your body from him.
“Like hell you will,” you say, taking a step back. You don’t miss the way Eddie lights up when you reject his offer, and it almost has you taking it back and telling him to shove them up his ass instead. But, you’d be damned if something that belonged to you was going to go to someone else. “You got these for me, so I’m keeping them.”
“I guess if that’s what you want,” Eddie says with a shrug.
“It is,” you say, clutching the flowers to your chest. “But, that doesn’t mean I’m your valentine. So don’t take it that way.”
“Whatever you say, sweetheart,” Eddie says before turning back to his car. You give him a hmpf before turning around to leave the bay. That’s when you notice all the eyes are on you.
“What?” You call out, and the guys all go back to what they were working on before.

CHAPTER 24
You couldn’t believe where you were going.
You couldn’t even believe you were invited. This could also have happened even if you hadn’t slept with Eddie to begin with, but you couldn't help but feel honored and hopeful. He invited everyone in the group, and now you were in your brand new car, a Toyota, picked out by Eddie himself, driving into Hawkins.
“There’s literally no buildings… Like, no apartments and stuff…” You mentioned as you passed the downtown, while Robin hummed next to you, pointing at a particular one that looked like a three story complex.
“The apartment buildings here are small. You won’t ever see more than four story buildings around here.” She explained and you nodded as you kept your eyes on the road. It looked nice, homely. The stores looked like they were stuck in time, which only made it even more appealing.
“Must be a quiet little place to live in.” Robin chuckled as she laid back in the passenger’s seat, her phone in hand with the GPS on.
“Nah, we always found a way to make a mess somewhere. Especially Eddie.” Your heart skipped a beat and Robin noticed how you straightened yourself in your seat and she smirked your way. “Really? Just by saying his fucking name?”
“I– What?”
“You’re whipped. Gone. It looks cute, but at the same time, chill.” She said and you scoffed, stopping at a red light. Your head snapped to look at her with a frown in your face.
“I’m not that whipped.” Robin just stared at you with a poker face, silently asking you ‘really?’. You groaned with a sigh, laying back on the driver’s seat, running your hands over your face. “I didn’t think he would invite me.”
“Why not? It would be really stupid and disrespectful for him not to invite you, when he had his dick in every hole of yours–”
“Robin!” You gasped, your hands flying off your face to see Robin smiling at you.
“Why are you having a nervous breakdown now?” She asked and you sighed, noticing the light turning yellow. You started driving once it turned green again, looking over at Robin’s GPS for a second to look at the road, and then look forward once more.
“I– It’s… What if he doesn’t like me? I mean, Eddie didn’t like me when he first met me, so, maybe, it’s genetics, you know?” You could feel your throat closing up a bit when you talked. You had been a wreck when Eddie dropped the news to you. You cleaned your house a million times to keep yourself distracted, tried on many outfits, even if you were staying for just a few hours. You wanted it to be perfect, and to be liked.
“Oh my god… Wayne will like you. I promise you that. He respects anyone that puts Eddie in his place.”
Wayne. You would be meeting Wayne.
Eddie had told the plans a week ago to you. You had asked him if it was okay for you to meet him, and he told you that he would like for you to meet his Uncle. His uncle’s birthday. You were meeting Wayne on his birthday. That prospect was enough to send you into a spiral of nerves.
“I– I know I asked this a million times, but I dressed up okay, right?” You asked your best friend, only for her to roll her eyes and point to the right for you to follow the directions.
“You look fine! Jesus! You need to calm down!” You nodded and took a deep breath in as you kept driving, knowing you would soon meet Eddie’s home. Where he grew up to be who he was now. It was a really big step, a really big change. You might even cry at one point and you would not be able to explain yourself to the group.
The music playing on the radio was the only sound that engulfed the two of you as you kept driving to your destination. Your stomach was in knots, and you needed to be distracted from your thoughts. You cleared your throat, catching your best friend’s attention.
“So… Is Steve… still mad?” You asked and turned your head for a second to inspect Robin’s reaction. She frowned for a moment and that was enough answer for you. You sighed as you kept driving, shaking your head. “What is his fucking deal?”
“Look, I don’t know. I tried asking him and all I got was ‘You don’t understand.’. I don’t know what went on with him and Eddie. He wouldn’t tell me.” You couldn’t help but feel certain anger at your other friend. What was his problem with you? Were you not good enough for his best friend or something? Was he too pissed at Eddie for hiding you from him?
“It makes no sense Robs, and you know it.” You commented as you turned left, the sign of ‘Forest Hills: Trailer Park’ coming up. Your heart picked up a pace as you could already see a certain trailer with a bunch of tables gathered outside, seats, fairy lights all over and– It seemed like the entire community came for the birthday.
“Wayne is quite popular, isn’t he?” Robin stated and you hummed. You kind of knew why it could be. You could sense the twinge of sadness in Robin’s voice as she said that. You weren’t going to comment on it, so you slowed your car as you approached, seeing Eddie already in the distance, talking to an older woman as Steve helped with setting up drinks on the two tables.
You spotted Eddie’s car a trailer away, probably not wanting to park the car in front of his uncle’s home so he wouldn’t occupy the space. You parked right behind him and Robin instantly got out to go to the trunk to get the boxes of snacks out. You gripped the steering wheel once and closed your eyes to concentrate. You could do this. You could meet him. It was a big step, and you cannot mess this up.
You stepped out and helped Robin, closing the trunk and locking the car before heading towards Eddie’s old home. Even if you knew that the financial circumstances of these people were low, you could see the smiles as they greeted you. They had casseroles in their hands, pans with homemade bread. A small girl, around five, was holding a cake with the help of her older sister, maybe ten, walking towards Eddie to hand him the cake.
The world stopped spinning for a second as you watched. Eddie smiled widely as he held the cake and put it on the table. He lifted the girl up in his arms and twirled around to make her fly, her legs kicking around as she giggled loudly. The older sister was left pouting, looking at the attention her little sister was getting. Eddie put the younger girl down, only for him to do the same with the other, effortlessly, despite the height and weight difference.
You just stood there. The environment around you turned silent, no movement, just your heartbeat being heard in your ears. You didn’t know you were staring in awe, in amusement, completely entranced by him. He looked… beautiful. He looked perfect. Your heart tugged at you, painfully so, and–
“Hey.” You snapped out with a harsh blink as you turned your head to look at Robin, who was staring at you with a bit of worry, yet a small smile was on her lips. “You okay, soldier?”
“I– Yes. Yes, I’m– I’m fine.” You choked on your words as your feet started working again. You were left completely shocked as you looked at him, with children. He was playing with children. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. You had to stop. You were becoming emotional, and you couldn’t afford this.
Nancy came out of the trailer holding stacks of cups, a smile appearing on her face as she saw Robin approaching. You had told Robin that no matter what, she must not tell Nancy. You knew it would be hard for her to do so, keeping secrets from her girlfriend, but Nancy was also a close friend of Eddie’s. Everything would be a mess if the entire group found out about you two.
Eddie and Steve had yet to realize you two had arrived. Steve was scratching his head as he distributed the bottles of drinks evenly on each table, and Eddie made the girls run back to their homes. It was Robin who announced the arrival of you two, making you jump in your place.
“My love!” She screeched as she wobbled with the box in her hands towards the trailer steps. Nancy giggled as she came down, giving her a peck on the lips. You smiled at the interaction, yet a pang of jealousy surged through you. You wanted to do that with the man who was slowly turning to face you. You wanted to greet him with a hug, with a kiss, with a cheeky comment about how his band t-shirt was not appropriate for a birthday.
Eddie smiled as he looked at you, walking your way to grab the box out of your hands first as he put it on the table. He frowned as he opened it, taking a look inside. Your heart was frantically beating out of your throat as you waited for him to say something.
“We asked for… cheetos. Just Cheetos. You brought the entire store.” He said with a chuckle, and you shrugged and looked around, seeing many of the neighbors already gathering up.
“Good thing I didn’t bring just that then.” He was smiling your way, seeing him take a gulp as he looked around for a second. Your eyes fell on a pair of hazel ones that were staring at the both of you intently. Steve averted his eyes as soon as you looked at him, and then he walked towards Robin and Nancy. You felt your heart drop slightly by how cold your friend was being to you because of all of this.
Eddie stared at your profile for a second. The wind blowing against you, and the warmth of the afternoon’s sun hitting your skin just right. You stood where he grew up. Where he was raised. And his body was reacting as such. His bottom lip was between his teeth as he gambled with his options.
His resolve to keep himself in check with you today was slowly wavering because you two couldn’t risk it. Not in front of his family or his friends. But he couldn’t contain it. His hand slowly reached for the small of your back, and your head snapped towards him, a question etched in your eyebrows.
You could see the need in his eyes. How he also wanted to kiss you, greet you like you two always did when seeing one another. You didn’t want to cross any boundaries today, knowing this was an important event for him and for everyone around him. You didn’t want to overstep in any sort of way. He turned around, yelling at Nancy.
“Nance, the sparklers are still in the car, right?”
“Oh, yeah! I think there’s also more napkins and the speaker!” She replied, and he nodded, looking your way again.
“Care to help me get those, Peach?”
Your heart beat insanely crazy in your chest as you nodded. You looked back for a second to see Steve shaking his head before his attention went back to Nancy. You frowned a bit as Eddie started leading you towards the parked cars, right where you came from. You didn’t know why Steve didn’t like you two together. Why was he so against the idea? He came here with Eddie and Nancy in the car, and they didn’t look weird or out of place, or anything like that when you saw them from afar.
The problem was when the two of you got together. Every time Steve saw you and Eddie together, he would shut down. He would not talk with either of you, and he would not even look at you. He would glare at Eddie a few times, and you couldn’t help but ask yourself if Steve knew what Eddie truly felt for you. If he knew, and he looked at Eddie that way whenever he suspected you two were doing something, then it didn’t mean anything good.
“Steve still mad?” You asked as you kept walking, coming towards his car only for him to look back at the trailer and for his hand to grab yours.
“A bit. He will come around, he’ll have to get over it sooner or later.” He mentioned, and you squeezed his hand back as he stepped around the car, going towards the other side so you two would be hidden from everyone else. He crouched a bit so he wouldn’t be seen, and– he hated this. He hated it, but– He couldn’t risk it. He didn’t know. He was lost. This was the first time he ever… that he ever–
“Hi.” You said with a smile, cutting his thoughts off, and his reaction was quick, smiling back down at you as everything else shut off in one second. His face leaned down, coming close to your lips as his ears started ringing.
“Hi.” He finally kissed you. Slow. Gentle. Tender. He was surprised he could even kiss someone like this. To kiss someone without the need for it to escalate into something else. To kiss just because he wanted to kiss the person. To kiss them first thing in the day, so they wouldn’t forget him so easily.
He felt your arms wrapping around his shoulders as his hands ran all over your back. He needed this. It was as if your embrace was a calming spot. A safe haven. He had been a wreck the past week. He was very sensitive, and everything that could be said to him it could end up badly.
His uncle’s birthday was not something easy for him to do. Not when it could potentially be his last birthday. So it had to be perfect. Everything had to come together nicely, and it had to be memorable for Wayne. He didn’t meet you this past week, even if he extremely wanted to. He didn’t want you to witness the mess he was. He arranged everything with his friends when Eddie finally accepted their offers of helping, including you.
You had nagged at him all week, asking if he needed you to do something, to help, but he always replied with a no, and that he had it under control. Steve was the one who made him snap out of his craziness and told Eddie that he was an idiot for doing this alone. But could you blame him? His family, the last member of it that he recognizes as such, is dying. This birthday, overall, means nothing.
But now with you, the weight was lifted off his shoulders in one second. His arms engulfed you, not wanting to let go just yet, as you two kissed. Lips moving against each other, savoring the moment because it had been days, hours, minutes. He counted every single one of those, and you had done almost the same.
You weren’t mad when Eddie didn’t ask you to meet him the past week. You understood him, but the need to help him made your skin itch. You couldn’t let him do this alone, but you didn’t know how to approach him without invading his space. You didn’t want him to get mad or snap at you. You were surprised when two days ago he called and asked if you could help get some of the things.
You were really happy to help, and you told him as such. You were happy he had included you in the celebration of Wayne’s birthday, and even happier that he had asked help from you to prepare it.
He kissed you softly, and you kissed back just the same. You wished you weren’t hiding right now. You wished you could meet Wayne under different circumstances. You wished you could introduce yourself as something else rather than his nephew’s friend slash fuckbuddy. He groaned into the kiss when your fingernails graced the back of his neck for a second, making him pull away.
“Sorry for not being… available this week–”
“I understand. It– It looks perfect, Eddie.” Your voice was like a calming tune in his head. As if the vibrations of your tone soothed each cell and made him become like putty under your arms. Vulnerability was something Eddie never did. He never showed it, and if he did, he always made sure to be alone for it.
Except one time.
One time, you had caught him red-handed after hanging up with Wayne. You two had barely started to talk, but something about you made him break. Something about you made him want to be vulnerable. Maybe it was due to the fact that you had been vulnerable with him, and he wanted to show you as well, be even.
But you had held him, let him cry out on your shoulder, and he never forgot about that touch. He never forgot about that moment with you. He never quite let go of how you rubbed his back and then helped him calm down from it all. He only broke down with Wayne, and he once did with Steve after Wayne got diagnosed.
And now, it seemed as if you understood why he wasn’t present this week. As if you knew the turmoil of emotions rushing all over his body because of today. And it was incredible how you could manage to make all of that disappear in one instant by just being here, with him. He stared at you for a while, a smile forming on his lips as he slowly nodded.
“Yeah… You guys helped me a lot, too.” You smiled up at him, to then pinch his cheek roughly as you glared when he winced. “What–!”
“You are one stubborn idiot.” You let go of his cheek, and he stepped back, rubbing his skin with a pout on his lips. You bit your lip, unable to contain yourself, grabbing onto the hem of his shirt and pulling him downwards again, towards your lips, kissing his pout away. “Don’t be a baby, Munson.”
“Now, be careful, sweetheart.” He roughly spoke as his eyes clashed with yours. You could sense the need behind it, the lack of physical touch from one another becoming apparent now. You really wanted to just take him away for a few hours now and spend it alone with him. You weren’t going to, but it was just your body reacting, and your emotions enhancing the need.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time.” You gave him a peck as you pushed him away softly, looking up at him as you tried to not let the sadness and disappointment show in your eyes. “We have been gone for a hot minute…”
He stared at you for a while, the wind blowing between the two of you for a few seconds, with no words being exchanged. He didn’t want to stop. He didn’t want to go back and pretend that he didn’t want to kiss you all the damn time. He didn’t want to hold himself back for the entire night. How was he going to achieve that when he knew he would probably need you by his side for this?
“Yeah. The others might arrive soon too…” You hummed at his response, biting your bottom lip as you looked up at him. He huffed with a smile, leaning down to press a quick kiss to your lips, reading your mind. You took the opportunity to move your hand down and pinch his left ass cheek, making him squeal. “I swear, you are LITERALLY obsessed with my ass.”
“I swear you had another mosquito.” You giggled as you went towards the trunk of his car. He chuckled and pressed the middle button of his key, letting you open it up. You whistled as you saw the huge speaker laying inside. “When Nancy said the speaker, I thought of a small one. Like those JBL ones.”
Eddie chuckled, standing next to you, grabbing the speaker, boombox, by its handle and pulling it out. You wanted to bite his arm from how its veins popped out from the movement, but you had to keep yourself together. At least for today.
“We have almost the entire park coming for Wayne’s birthday. A small speaker wasn’t going to cut it, Peach.” He said as he looked at his old home. They weren’t going to lack on food and drinks since all the neighbors came with stuff. There weren’t many people, but there were quite a few. “It might be his last one… That’s why they all came.”
And you knew it. You had that suspicion. You looked up at Eddie, staring at his profile. His jaw was clenching as his eye bag looked like it was pulsating. He was stressed. He was nervous. He was anxious. You didn’t care at that moment. If Nancy or anyone else were looking, they could go to hell.
You wrapped your hands around his arm, nuzzling your nose against his bicep before placing a soft kiss there. He was wide eyed as he stared down at you, knowing you two were not covered by the car anymore. Your eyes looked up to clash against his, a warm and encouraging smile spreading on your lips.
“Let’s make it a great birthday. Okay?”
Time went still again, and yet he smiled back, giving a nod your way. You slowly let go of his arm, and the seconds started ticking again. You grabbed the napkins and sparklers from the passenger’s seat as Eddie closed the trunk. He grabbed the handle of the huge speaker and rolled it like a carry-on back towards the party, setting it up with his phone so music would start playing through the field.
You helped Nancy put the snacks in bowls and plates, as more people brought little pies or snacks, as well as drinks. Some introduced themselves as old fishing pals of Wayne, then a woman who told you that Wayne had helped her fix her pipes when she barely moved in years ago. Everyone had stories with him, and you realised he was dearly loved and cared about in this trailer park.
Then, Argyle, Eden, and Jonathan finally rolled up. They were bringing in alcoholic drinks because Jonathan had great deals with suppliers thanks to his bar. The drinks were nicely put on the table, and Jonathan made it very clear to keep them clean and respectful. Basically, he told people to measure themselves with the alcohol and not get drunk in a lapse of minutes.
Nancy then started waving excitedly towards the road, which made you look forward, seeing her brother waving back, followed by Will, a boy and a girl you didn’t know, and Dustin. You wondered if they knew about you. Did they know what you looked like? Did they know you by name, even?
Your questions were answered when Jonathan and Nancy gave their hugs, and Will immediately smiled at you.
“Finally, nice to meet you.” That’s how you knew. You smiled at the young boy, shaking his hand as you presented yourself. Mike, even if acting as if he weren’t interested, he shook your hand with his enthusiastically. You then looked at the two young people you hadn’t met, nor even seen in any of the pictures Eddie had shown you.
“I’m Lucas.” The boy said, presenting himself and shaking your hand. Lucas… Eddie had mentioned a boy who quit his club to go into the basketball team, and maybe that boy was Lucas. You turned to the short-haired girl, who was smiling at you.
“I’m Jane.” You smiled as you shook her hand. Before you could say anything, you were engulfed in the arms of a stranger whom you only knew through pictures.
“Oh man! It’s great to finally meet you!” Dustin exclaimed excitedly as he pulled away, your eyes wide in surprise as he held your shoulders. “I’m Dustin Henderson, pretty sure you know that already, very popular amongst the older crowd.”
You couldn’t help the snort and the smile bubbling up in you as you looked at the guy in front of you. He was radiating happiness in every single aspect. You couldn’t help but feel giddy as he shared his emotions with you. You presented yourself, and he gave you a roll of his eyes, telling you he knew.
“Yeah, I know a bit about most of you.” You commented, and before Dustin could say anything, you felt the collar of your shirt being pulled from the back, separating you from the younger man in front of you. Dustin’s eyes looked up, and your head turned to look at Eddie with an eyebrow raised in question.
“Now, you don’t hug people you just met, Henderson. It’s creepy.” He said almost in a snarl, but Dustin smiled widely and immediately latched onto Eddie. You were wide-eyed as you saw all the younger ones hugging Eddie tightly, forming a big chunk of people. You inspected Eddie’s face as he stayed in the middle, his eyes closed as he breathed in.
You realized that it might have been months since they all last saw each other. Steve, Robin, Argyle, and Eden approached next, and they all happily greeted each other, with Steve also almost getting tumbled over. Argyle presented Eden as his girlfriend, and– Shit, another pang of jealousy. You wanted that. You wanted to be presented as… as a girlfriend, just like her.
Then you looked at how Will and Mike had stepped back, and Mike’s arm was wrapped around Will’s waist as he listened to Steve talk to Dustin about proper manners with alcohol. They were 20, but they were allowed to drink under their supervision.
“For context…” Jonathan stood next to you, holding back a chuckle. “We were present when we let Dustin have his first taste of alcohol at eighteen. We turned around for a second, and he had chugged two beers down.”
“What!?” You asked loudly, looking at Jonathan with a disapproving look on your face. He shrugged at you with a roll of his eyes.
“He is a menace! And very sneaky!” You shook your head at him, a small smile forming on your lips as you looked back at the group. “So… heard things with Jeff broke off.”
You blinked a few times at his words, and you wondered why he suddenly said them, only to then see Jeff, Gareth, and another guy coming over, laughing as they talked. You had to lie to them again. Robin helped with coming up with that plan. Supposedly, you and Jeff had tried going exclusive, only for it to not work out. Jeff had feelings for someone else, while you never caught those for him. You were two friends who often fucked and that was it. You pretended you had misinterpreted your feelings.
“Yeah, but it’s better this way. I honestly am happy that he is with the one he truly likes now.” You smiled, and Jonathan’s eyebrows were still furrowed in the middle in concern. You turned to look at him and sighed. “I promise, I am fine. I explained to you that I thought I liked him, just because he was the only one I was fucking.”
“Still… I don’t know… I just feel like you– You sound incomplete, if that makes sense.” You stared at him as the words processed in your head. Incomplete. How does one sound… incomplete?
Your attention was brought back as people started cheering and clapping, and you turned to look towards the trailer door. Walking down the small stairs with Lucia, the caretaker, helping from behind, was Wayne. He was waving as best as he could, taking little steps to reach the wheelchair at the bottom of the porch. Eddie was already standing there, and your eyes filled with tears as you saw the boney structure of his uncle embrace his nephew, who was much bigger than him, yet he was hugging him as if Eddie were still a kid.
Eddie held onto him, separating just enough to help him get on the wheelchair as Lucia prepared the IVs on the back to connect him to. You saw people slowly approach Wayne to start congratulating him and you waited by the tables, alongside the rest of your group. The corroded coffin guys stepped up, going first.
The old man greeted them, and you could see him reprimanding Gareth for something. You were staring at Eddie’s reactions, standing next to his uncle as he listened in to all the greetings. Then, the younger ones greeted him, and you noticed how Eddie had to grip Dustin by the hair to not get overly excited when telling something to his uncle, who was trying not to burst out laughing.
Then, your group started moving, one by one, greeting him and giving small talk. Argyle seemed to have offered some of his things, which Eddie only rubbed his temples at. He also presented Eden to him. Nancy just politely greeted him, only for Robin to start telling Wayne how she was her girlfriend now in a very loud manner. Jonathan apologized for Robin’s excitement, and the old man thanked him for the nice glass of whiskey he would drink tonight. He spent an awful lot of time talking with Steve, and you stood at the side, the nerves eating away at your own stomach.
You were a stranger here. You were invading privacy, and you didn’t know how to act with it. You didn’t know how to introduce yourself. You didn’t know if his uncle knew the clashes you and Eddie had in the past, the number of insults you threw at his nephew. If he knew, he would hate you. He definitely would despise you. Fuck, you didn’t know–
“Peach.”
Your head snapped up, seeing Eddie with a smile on his face as he put his hand behind your left shoulder. You gave him a quick, nervous nod and took a deep breath as you let him guide you towards his uncle. Wayne Munson was looking up at you already, a tilt of his head as he inspected you all over.
“I do not know you.” He said with curiosity. You opened your mouth only for Eddie to give your name first, and then Wayne’s eyes widened, and he squinted at you. “I’m sorry– You– You are the one who tried to beat him up, right?”
Oh, fuck, he knew. His uncle knew about you and Eddie hating each other before. This looked bad, and the fact that he knew that part specifically. Shit. Your heart was slowly stopping in panic as you took a sharp intake of breath.
“I– Yes, but–” You were interrupted by laughter, his uncle clapping as he cracked up as if you had just told the greatest joke of all time. Your eyes were wide as Eddie groaned in exasperation next to you. You didn’t know what was happening as you looked back and forth, wondering what you had done to make this situation funny.
“Lord, I respect you, kid. Honestly, not many have the balls to do what you did to someone like him.” You tilted your head in question, and Eddie’s eyes snapped open at his uncle’s words. Wayne looked at him, and Eddie gave a subtle shake of his head. Not now. It was not the time. His uncle understood and grabbed your hand. “I’m Wayne, nice to meet you.”
You slowly shook his hand, and when you pulled away, you turned to look at Eddie, who was already looking down at you. His eyes were filled with emotions that you couldn’t decipher. There was a mix of absolutely everything, and you didn’t know which to pinpoint first. You opened your mouth to talk, only for Robin to interrupt you both.
“Come set up beer pong with me!” She called out to you specifically, and you nodded, smiling down at Wayne once again.
“Happy birthday, Mr. Munson. If you play beer pong, I’m your rival.” You made conversation, and the older man rolled his eyes, shaking his head.
“That would be your worst mistake. I may be in a wheelchair, but my pulse is steady.” You were happy he took the comment with the same energy you delivered it and then you walked away to help Robin. Eddie stayed back with his uncle, guiding them both to a table. Eddie grabbed a beer and then filled a cup with just a quarter of whiskey in it.
“Don’t tell the doctors.” Eddie said, and his uncle chuckled, grabbing the cup and taking it to his lips.
“Never.” He took a small sip of the whiskey as Eddie sat down and popped the can open for him to take a sip of his own. “So… that girl.”
“What about her?” His uncle chuckled a bit, scratching the side of his head. Eddie’s heart was beating out of his chest as he waited for an answer, only for his old man to shrug.
“She seems nice.” Eddie let a small sigh escape before taking another sip of his beer. “Lovely of her to help you with the boombox.”
He spat his entire beer out, choking on the gas that got trapped in his throat. Fuck– Fuck–
“I– That didn’t… Shit, that didn’t–”
“Mean anything?” Wayne asked with an eyebrow raised in question. He slowly took another sip as he stared at his nephew. Eddie was looking down, a hand scratching his head as he tried to look for the best words.
“We… It’s just physical.” He tried to say as best as he could, but the words came out small, and his uncle noticed.
“I may be old… and I may be sick, but I know when something doesn’t mean anything. That kiss I saw… Come on.” His uncle pressed, and Eddie sighed heavily, looking at him with a frown in the middle of his forehead.
“How did you even see us?” He asked, only for Lucia to come by for a second, grabbing a napkin from the table, humming innocently. Eddie glared at her, a bit of annoyance displaying in his features. “Lucia…”
“Look, it ain’t my fault your uncle picked up a few words in Spanish. I saw you two while I helped him get dressed, and I said ‘Eddie se esta besando con una chica!’ and your uncle’s curiosity spiked.” The woman explained, and Wayne chuckled.
“I only caught the words ‘Eddie’, ‘kissing’, and ‘girl’. She helped me get up and see.” Eddie groaned exasperated, and Wayne nodded at Lucia for her to walk away and leave him alone with his nephew. She stepped away, her eyes on Wayne at all times if he needed anything at all. “Son…”
“Old man, I know what you saw but… it’s not that simple.”
“In all my years I’ve never seen you with someone. Not like that. Edward, you’ve never invited the people you spent nights with to my birthdays, nor yours.” He explained and Eddie felt trapped, as if someone was putting pressure on his back.
“It’s because she is in our friend group. That’s the whole reason for it.” Wayne sighed at the excuse, shaking his head at the stubbornness.
“Eddie… stop looking at it logically.”
Eddie’s eyes widened and he looked up to see his uncle smiling. He knew. He knew what was going on in his mind. Of course he did, Wayne was his family, his real father so to speak. Wayne knew him like the back of his own hand.
“I– I don’t know how it should really feel. I never told her–” Wayne nodded, and opened his mouth to talk, only for him to be called by his friends. He turned to look at Eddie for a second and he only smiled, “Go, we’ll talk later. I’m staying here for a few more days, remember?”
“Sure son.” He nodded towards Lucia, who came over to help Wayne go to his fishing friends. Eddie stared at his family and just sat there. He was playing with his fingers as he felt his entire body tensing with sudden nerves.
Why was everything so complicated? Why was he the complicated one? Why couldn’t it be easy for him to know when it was right? When everything made sense? It wasn’t fair that he didn’t know how it should really feel. It wasn’t fair.
His thoughts were interrupted when a hand was plastered on his back, making him jump up completely startled and defensive, grabbing the wrist of the hand that patted him.
“Whoa! It’s just me!” Dustin exclaimed, completely startled, putting his other hand up in defense. Eddie sighed and let go of him and his younger friend sat down next to him, grabbing a beer and popping one open. Eddie glared at him, squinting his eyes. “What?”
“Easy.”
“I have learned my ways. I am not a teenager anymore.” He said proudly, and took a long sip of the can, making Eddie sigh in defeat. He exclaimed his satisfaction with a long ‘ah’ and silence engulfed them for a few seconds. “You doing alright?”
“Yeah… Yeah, I am.” Dustin gave a small encouraging smile and Eddie could feel the nervousness in his friend as he tapped his fingers against the can. “What’s going on with you?”
“Oh? Me? Nothing? Why would something be… wrong with me?” He said with a nervous fake chuckle, and Eddie frowned in question, the interest spiking.
“Henderson… what is it?” Dustin took a swig of his beer, looking down at the top of it, his fingers playing around the can. Eddie’s eyes narrowed as he waited; he rarely saw Dustin this nervous, even before when he was DM for the club.
“Um… I… I kinda have to tell you something, actually just kind of– wanting to get something off of my chest.” He confessed, and Eddie immediately looked around to make sure no one was around, his protectiveness over Dustin’s privacy growing.
“Alright… is it bad?”
“I– No, I mean, it is? It isn’t? I’m happy, so you would… suspect it isn’t bad, but…” He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “Suzie and I broke up.”
Eddie’s eyes widened in shock because Dustin had always boasted about Suzie. He always talked about her as if she hung the stars in the sky for him. No one ever got to meet her thanks to her religion. Her parents never let her go on trips by herself, much less to meet a boy.
“Why?” He managed to ask, and Dustin sighed, taking a sip of his beer, Eddie following.
“Her religion. I… I adored Suzie, but… It wasn’t going to work out. She likes her religion, and I can’t force her out of it… Nor can she force me into it.” He explained and Eddie nodded in understanding, his heart turning a bit, knowing how much Dustin must have hurt from this.
“When did it happen?” He asked, and Dustin looked at him with a small smile, as if silently apologizing.
“A few months ago… It wasn’t something that I didn’t know was going to happen, Eddie. We both knew it was a matter of time.” Eddie was surprised to hear those words coming out of Dustin’s mouth, realizing just how much his freshman from school had grown up. Eddie patted his back in comfort, the younger man nodding as a thanks.
“Still, you could have called. You know we are here for you at all times.” He reminded his friend, and Dustin looked back down again, clearing his throat. Eddie’s eyebrows met in the middle as he saw a red hue appearing on Dustin’s ears.
“Yeah, I– Well… Someone kind of… comforted me…” Now Eddie was stunned, the words processing in his head because he understood what they meant, but he had a hard time grasping it.
“What? Who? Mike?” The younger man sighed and shook his head, clearing his throat as Eddie started noticing the nervousness that was building up in him.
“Not… Not Mike, no…” He then mumbled something really low under his breath, but Eddie only heard a hum. He moved a bit closer, his eyebrow raising in question at his friend.
“What? I didn’t catch that.” Dustin sighed and covered his mouth, mumbling again.
“... –ping… th– ne–”
“Henderson, I can’t fucking hear–”
“I’m sleeping with Jane! Jesus Christ Eddie!”
The older man’s eyes widened as he stared at Dustin. The poor guy covered his face, afraid someone had heard his outburst, but Eddie remained frozen. Jane…? His head turned to look at her, chatting away with Nancy with a smile on her face.
“I… but… She’s Mike’s ex–”
“I know.”
“And your friend.” And Dustin sighed and nodded.
“I know.” Eddie was still stunned as he looked at Dustin with a scrunched-up nose, and the younger one smacked Eddie in the arm, completely offended by his gaze. “Why are you looking at me like that!?”
“I’m sorry! It’s still hard for me to– To not see you as that weird fourteen year old who loved Alf, Henderson–” Eddie then gasped, pointing at him. “You lost your virginity with Jane–”
Dustin’s free hand flew to cover Eddie’s mouth, trying to shush him. The younger man was blushing a deep red, looking around to make sure no one was trying to come near them thanks to their antics. Eddie groaned in disgust as he pulled Dustin’s hand off his mouth, glaring back at him.
“Don’t say it so fucking loud, dickhead!” Eddie rolled his eyes, but warmth invaded his chest as he tilted his head for Dustin to continue. “I… I know… It’s fucking crazy– I mean, her and me, we know each other since… what, eleven?”
“Friends for a long time, yeah.” He was trying to understand his friend’s situation, wondering what was truly bothering him. “Are you conflicted because no one knows you’re sleeping with a friend’s ex or–”
“What, no! I know Mike wouldn’t have a problem with it… They broke up because Mike found himself, and Jane understood… It’s not really that…” Dustin’s eyes grew distant, and Eddie followed his gaze, only to see him looking at Jane. The air felt calm for some reason, as if the party around them was not happening.
“Then what is it?”
“We are hooking up… and it’s great…” He stopped for a few seconds, and Eddie saw how you approached Jane, offering her something to drink with a smile on your face. “But what if I don’t want to just hook up anymore?”
And Eddie froze for a second there.
The words banged into his skull like a rocket crashing into the moon. He frowned as his heart felt as if it were speeding up, his stomach turning the more he looked at you, the more Dustin’s words repeated inside his head. His mouth moved before he could process it.
“How do you know?”
“How do I know what?”
“How do you know you want more than just that? Maybe the sex is just… that great.” Dustin scoffed and that made Eddie lose focus on you to look back at his friend. His eyes never left Jane, not for a second.
“Because I want more than that… I want to hold her hand just because… Kiss her just because… Hug her just because… I want to go over there right now, and kiss her, in front of everyone so that people know she is mine.” Eddie stared at Dustin as if he had just discovered the library of Alexandria. He felt his body wave between hot and cold, sweats running all over him, his hair standing on end the more his younger friend’s words settled inside his gut.
“Isn’t that just you being possessive?” Dustin only chuckled at that, finally turning to look back at Eddie as if he had just told the greatest joke in the world.
“But that’s part of it. My possessiveness tells me just how much I want her to be mine and mine only.” And Eddie froze entirely, the wind moving the strands of hair in front of his face as Dustin talked. “Being possessive isn’t bad… if measured, it helps you show the other person how much you care.”
His eyes were wide, slowly turning his head to look back to where you were. Argyle and you were chatting now, and he was trying to make Will get a hit of his joint, and you were trying to bat him away. You turned your head just in time to catch him looking and Eddie didn’t turn away. He felt his heart clench as you waved at him, wincing in Argyle’s direction, asking silently for him to help you.
He gulped, his head turning to look at Dustin who was smirking at him, and before Eddie could ask, his friend got up from the chair, taking a sip of his beer, giving a triumphant ‘Ah’ as he finished it.
“I am for once the mature one.” He said and Eddie rolled his eyes, getting up from the chair and yanking Dustin’s small mullet with a harsh tug, making him yelp in a high pitched manner, making Eddie snort.
“Yeah, right.” Dustin pushed Eddie away, flipping him off with his middle finger, but Eddie couldn’t help the warm smile directed to his friend. He was indeed more mature than him today. Maybe had been for a while.
It would have been nice to grow up knowing what one truly wants. What your heart truly desires and not what your brain conjures up. To be told that everything could be a side effect. To be told that he couldn’t really be entirely normal, that his feelings were never going to be exact, or just like the others.
But when he looked at you once more, Dustin’s words started repeating themselves in his ears. Over, and over, and over again. You asked for help again with a mere look in your eyes, and he couldn’t help himself. His feet moved before he could control them, but he knew this wouldn’t happen with anybody.
No… He was only magnetized by you.
Hours had passed and the people started going back to their homes, leaving just a very few present, that included yourself, your party, a few neighbors, Wayne’s friends, and Lucia.
You were starting to put all the snacks in leftover tupperwares, knowing people had stopped eating by now, and you didn’t want the food to go soggy or bad. You felt a presence next to you, and you saw Harley bouncing on her feet a little bit. In her arms, laid her daughter, an eight month old baby, little gargles escaping her little lips. Looking at women in the pregnancy stages made you feel down, and you could admit that, but babies… Already born babies made you feel insanely fulfilled.
“I’m sorry, could you please hold my baby for a second? I have to help Lucia take down some of the decorations!” You had introduced yourself to her before in the night, but the baby then was inside her little egg crib, sound asleep.
“Oh, but don’t worry about it, I can help–”
“Nonsense, I’ve been sitting all day with the baby, and I didn’t help at all. Please, it’ll be a few minutes!” You blinked a few times as you felt you felt pressure on your chest, as if you were being squished. Your fingertips went a little cold, as you looked down at the baby. You held one baby in your life, and it was that same baby who made you realize you wanted to have kids.
You took a deep breath in as you raised your arms up, letting Harley pass the baby onto your arms delicately. You didn’t want to make any sudden movements, but when you looked down at the little thing, at those big orbs staring at you, you instantly melted. You smiled widely, your index finger reaching up to boop her nose, only for her to engulf it in her small hand.
“What’s her name?” You asked, and the mother was already rolling up the sleeves of her blouse.
“Sabrina! Okay, I promise I won’t be long! She is very friendly!” With that, Harley rushed away, leaving you behind with her baby as you saw her helping Lucia start cleaning up the tables. You looked at your friends who were all talking to each other, in their own world, and then your gaze fell back down to the sound of little gurgles in your arms.
She was so beautiful. So innocent and pure. Her life was to be written, miracles yet to happen to her. All the possibilities that could happen for her, all the people she’ll meet, and you were one of the lucky ones.
“She tried biting my finger off one time.” You heard a gruff voice say from behind you, making you snap out of your thoughts, quickly turning around, finding Wayne Munson smiling up at you from his wheelchair.
“Oh, this bundle of sunshine? No, she wouldn’t do that.” You cooed at the baby, who only smiled at your bunny kisses. The old man kept a smile on his face and he nodded to the chair next to him, motioning for you to sit down. You carefully sat down, getting comfortable with the baby in your arms.
“The most innocent-looking are the ones who turn out to be serial killers.” He joked, and you fake gasped, pretending to move the baby away.
“Do not listen to the old man, Sabrina, he doesn’t know a thing about cute, sweet princesses like you. How could you ever be a cannibal?” Wayne chuckled at your jokes and watched as you bounced the baby a little to keep her entertained. He inspected you, saw how you smiled at the little girl in your arms, and he couldn’t help himself.
“For how long?” You looked up at him, the smile still on your face.
“How long, what, sir?”
“For how long have you felt things for my son?”
Your world froze up, time stopped, and it even skipped. What did he say? What– Were you obvious? Were you too obvious? You hadn’t interacted with Eddie much today, so you didn’t know how he could have figured it out. Sweat ran all over your body like a waterfall, and it was by sheer luck that you remembered you had another human in your arms right now.
“I’m… I’m sorry, I don’t–”
“Darling, don’t worry. I won’t tell.” You were frozen in fear, caught completely red-handed by none other than his own uncle, and you didn’t miss how he called Eddie his son. Wayne saw Eddie as if he were his own. Just like Eddie told you, he sees Wayne as his father. His pops.
“I’m… I–” You didn’t know what to say. You felt your entire face burning at thousands of degrees, and how were you supposed to navigate this situation? How were you supposed to handle this? Were you supposed to lie? To tell the truth? To act like he was insane? That would be mean given the circumstances, but…
At the lack of your response, Wayne straightened up, clearing his throat to snap you back into this world, noticing the nervousness that started building inside of you.
“One time, we were out fishing. Eddie was fourteen at that time. He didn’t like fishing at fucking all, let me tell you just that, but he tried for my sake and for us to share a hobby together.” He chuckled as he remembered the day, retelling it to you– “So I took him fishing with me. He tried, and tried to get the fish, until he started throwing a tantrum when it wouldn't catch.”
You giggled a little at the story, making Wayne turn to look at you, as if asking what you were laughing about.
“I’m sorry, it just… it sounds like him.”
“Why do you say that?” Wayne contained a smile as he looked at you, your eyes falling on the baby in your arms as it did grabby hands at you.
“He gets really mad whenever he isn’t right. He once couldn’t admit to me that pickles with peanut butter tasted good, just like I said.” You commented, remembering that day that Eddie discovered that strange snack of yours. He had called you nasty, for many days, making fun of you, only to find him in the middle of the night, eating them in the darkness of the kitchen.
“He has a really bad temper sometimes. And I could barely handle that boy’s sweet tooth.”
“I fucking know! Whenever he sees me make anything with chocolate chips, he would stand next to me–” and Wayne continued, finishing the sentence for you,
“– And make sure you put almost the entire bag inside!” You laughed as you nodded, his own chuckles following soon.
Silence then wrapped around the two of you, your eyes never leaving his. You felt like you couldn’t lie to him. You felt like this man deserved to know that someone wants to make Eddie as happy as he did. For some reason you wanted Wayne to know, it felt right to let him know.
“For a while.” You answered and Wayne nodded slowly, understanding. He could see truth in your eyes, and he could feel that you would never hurt his nephew. His family. He sighed, shaking his head.
“Kids these days. You’re too scared of the what ifs that you forget to live in the moment.” You snorted a bit at the old man kind of comment. But he was right, wasn’t he? “What are you scared of?”
“I’ve… been through a lot… I guess I just don’t want to end up hurt again…” You huffed, rocking the baby in your arms a bit, shaking your head. “Kind of pointless now that it already happened but…”
Wayne nodded, and he looked down at Sabrina, who was holding onto your finger as you pretended you were shaking her hand. He smiled softly as you cooed, made babbling noises with your mouth, and then he chuckled, catching your attention.
“Pointless…? No, feelings are never pointless. They dictate who you are, where you are, who you’re with, and where you’re headed. But one has to always face them, sweetheart.” You stared at the man for a while, a small smile forming on your lips as your heart filled with warmth.
“Now I know where Eddie got the pet naming from.”
“A Munson trait, sorry about that.” He smiled at you, and you couldn’t help the lump that formed in your throat, gulping it as you whispered to him.
“I really… I really like your son.”
Wayne couldn’t help the tears that formed in his waterlines, nodding at your words. He sniffled and held his hand out for you to grab. Your hand slowly held his, and you could feel the care in his touch, the plea.
“Then don’t let him be stupid.” He said with an order, and you sniffled, nodding at him. You opened your mouth, and he stopped you, raising his free hand. “I won’t tell him… He’s staying with me for a few more days. If I know of something, I’ll tell you.”
He winked at you playfully, and you couldn’t help the wet giggle that escaped you. Your friends were unaware of the interaction that was happening a few feet away from them, or that’s what you both thought.
Steve stood next to Eddie, a little farther from the trailer. They were having a small smoke break together, and they had been talking about Eddie’s stay, knowing he would be in Hawkins for a few more days to keep Wayne company.
“You know, I can always stay if you need me here. You know that, right? Eds?” Steve said, but received no response. He frowned, looking up from the ground to see Eddie no longer looking at him, but to the horizon, wide-eyed, almost as if he were seeing a ghost. He followed the line of sight, and Steve’s face softened as he realized what Eddie was looking at.
You were laughing with Wayne, and there was a baby in your arms. He felt lightweight, like nothing in the world mattered anymore. The world turned into clouds, the other people didn’t exist. It was just you, Wayne, him, and that baby. That baby who fits so well in your arms. That baby who pressed her hands on your face when you tried to give her a kiss. Your smile mimicked the baby’s as you two laughed at his Uncle making a face.
Everything felt serene. It felt right. It felt like this: if he wanted it, he could have it. He could, couldn’t he? He wanted it. He wanted it all. You were it all. He wanted everyone to know you were his, and his only. He wanted you to know he was yours, and yours only. He wanted to take you out, he wanted to plan things with you, he wanted to be true to you, he wanted it.
He wanted you, just like you were now, and he couldn't help but pretend you were holding his baby. Not a stranger's.
His uncle looked up, and he saw Eddie looking at you two. Wayne nudged your shoulder to get your attention, and once he did, he pointed at Eddie, telling you that he was staring. Eddie saw you giggle and whisper something to his uncle, only to then see the two of you raising your middle fingers up at him, snickering together. He wasn’t even mad about that. His chest only pressed harder on him. His heart hurt more, in every perfect way.
Steve huffed, not stopping Eddie when he saw him start walking away by his own accord. He walked towards you and his uncle. The two of you pretended to be innocently playing with the baby, as if you hadn’t just flipped Eddie off from a distance. Once he reached you two, he crossed his arms over his chest.
“You two having fun mocking me or something?” Wayne rolled his eyes, his voice rough and dramatic.
“We would never do that.” You nodded at that with a small frown.
“Mhm, never ever!” Eddie’s heart tugged at him again, yet this time he didn’t fight it. Yeah, there was no need to fight it anymore, was there? The answer was here. He finally had it.
The baby suddenly cooed, and Eddie noticed her little hands trying to reach him, doing a grabby motion. He smiled, putting his arms out to tell you to hand him the baby. Your heart skipped many beats as you got up, handing the baby into his arms, and you were surprised when he handled her with such care.
His arm was underneath her, cradling her into him with ease as he wiggled his fingers on her cheek, causing her to giggle from the tickling. You bit your bottom lip as you stood next to him, looking down at the baby with a smile to your face. You were startled when he booped your nose, making you squeal a little, but that made the baby jump a bit in Eddie’s arms, scared.
And then she started crying.
Eddie gasped, his mouth wincing as he frowned, looking at you for help. You were glaring at him, stomping your foot at him.
“Now look at what you did!” You whispered in a yell to him, and he huffed, rolling his eyes your way, bouncing on his feet to rock the baby.
“I didn’t know you would react like a scaredy cat, Peach, how the fuck was I supposed–”
“Don’t curse!!! It’s a baby! She might catch on to it!” The baby’s cries kept going as you two kept bickering, but Eddie never once stopped rocking it, and you never once stopped trying to send funny faces between the words being exchanged.
And Wayne watched it all. He watched how his nephew was surrounded by his friends. He had support. He watched how the boy he took in and raised as his own son, turned out to be a good man. Eddie wasn’t perfect, no one really was. But Wayne didn’t want to leave without knowing Eddie would be okay.
And there’s you. He knew. Everyone would take care of Eddie, but Wayne had always hoped to find someone like you. He had always hoped that someone would care for Eddie in the same levels he cared for him. And he found that person. You were calling his nephew names, but Wayne knew you didn’t mean a single one of them.
Eddie would not be alone. He had trust that his nephew, his son, would not be stupid. That he would keep fighting, despite the fear. To keep grasping to the things he wants, and to never let go of them. Wayne knew he could do that with you.
He can finally say that it was all worth it. It will be worth it in the end. Because seeing Eddie smiling down at you without you noticing, tells Wayne everything he needs to know. Eddie would not give up on you, and he could have a moment’s peace knowing his son is going to be taken care of.
He could finally breathe.
He could finally relax.

Wise one that understands Eddie Munson best, what would he think about today's political climate? Would he have any strong feelings or do you think he'd just be cool with everyone?
First of all I am honored that you think I know Eddie the best lol I can confidently say I don’t, but I do think I have an idea of how he would be.
I’m not super political on here because I don’t really like my fandom experience being mixed with political stuff (I come here to escape the hell that is the American political system) But I do personally think that Eddie would be the opposite of me in that regard. I think he has a lot of opinions and he’s not afraid to talk about them. I think he could potentially be kind to most, but had hard lines that he draws when it comes to certain topics. I always headcanon him to be at least bisexual so he’s definitely standing with the LGBT community and he will fight anyone who disagrees with him on it. I feel he’s very anti war, anti government, and would stomp a racist, biggot, and/or nazi into a curb.
Take all of that with a grain of salt since that’s generally how I lean and would like to think my blorbos feel the same way. I know there is a strong pipeline between men who grew up in the 80s and conservatism, but I really don’t think Eddie would lose his values with age. At least I would hope not lol
