After rewatching Pikachu What’s this Key? Short, I was intrigued by the idea that Legendary and Mythical Pokémon have their own dimensions separate from the main world. Making it possible for Pokémon like Jirachi to interact with others despite being in their hibernation sleep. I think it’s like a separation of consciousness or rifts only Legendaries can use to go to their own private pocket dimensions, with Klefkie being the guardian key master of these dimensions and move in between to interact with various doorways to these dimensions.

That said, the credits scene with Darkrai showing just a bit of protectiveness over his fellow little Legendaries and mythical Pokémon dodging Meowth’s attempts to catch them in a net inspired me to draw this. I wanna draw more with Manaphy focus cause poor dear didn’t get much room here.

the reason as to why the future trio don't get to meet darkrai in the postgame isn't because of time complications or anything it's because they'd turn him into a blackberry stain on the dark crater floor before he even floats at inch towards the passage

'blast it! i was on the verge of success!' don't flatter yourself darkrai i would have never ever ever believed that junk in a thousand years. especially not when your cute little illusion mischaracterized my partner so badly. your fatal flaw is actually that you didn't pay more attention to him and get to know him better. but like even if he had been more convincing. i would have never agreed to that
