How do winged people groom themselves?

With a lot of patience.

A lot. Huge wings would have a lot of surface area to cover to keep maintained and clean, for both feathered and membranous wings.

A comb or hairbrush could be useful to brush out the feathers, but probably the best tool for the job for preening/grooming would be hands and nails to be able to lift up the feathers and get under them without splitting apart any of the feather-barbs or causing damage.

It would be best to start off with a shake off or bath to get all dust and debris removed (or blast through the feathers with a hairdryer or leaf blower), but if there's no time or if its not possible, then they could start from inside along the top where they can reach and work down and out to the primaries.

The main things to look out for would be damaged, fraying, broken, or loose feathers to remove them, as well as looking out for any cuts or bruises or feathers that haven’t quite erupted properly from their casings. Most of grooming and preening is about self care as well as maintenance. The last thing you need is an infection caused by a broken or ingrown feather.

It takes a lot of time to go through one wing layer by layer, but if its taking a long time or if there anywhere that is a little difficult to reach, always recruit someone else to lend a hand.

Sitting in Bakugou's lap, humming a soft melody with his arms wrapped around your waist in a fashion that made it look like he was a makeshift seat belt. He was rubbing his cheek against your back, and you were pretty sure you were going to over heat with the amount of natural heat he generates. But you would be willing to walk 1000 miles to be held in these very same arms, so you were going to enjoy it while it lasted. He always put up a rough exterior and very rarely did his emotional armour show any weakness, but sometimes a hero can't save everybody. And that takes a toll. So during this, he looks to you for comfort. And of course you are always willing to give it. But old habits die hard, and he never wants to appear weak. So he settles for hugging you like a comfort pillow and nuzzling into your back to hide his frustrated expression and angry tears.

"Hey, you know I won't be mad if you let me see your face. I wont think any less of you-"

"I know." he scoffs into your tear dampened shirt. You try to wrestle his iron but you are met with defeat against his strength. "Thanks... thanks for letting me do this." suddenly you don't want to turn around. He would probably murder you for having such a dorky beaming smile on your face.

Know what I’m salty about?

In all my art classes, I was never taught HOW to use the various tools of art.

Like yes, form, and shape and space and color theory and figure drawing is important, but so is KNOWING what different tools do.

I’m 29 and I JUST learned this past month that India Ink is fucking waterproof when it dries. Why is this important? Because I can line something in India Ink and then go over it with watercolors. And that has CHANGED the ENTIRE way I art and the ease I can create with.

tldr: Art Teachers: teach your students what different tools do. PLEASE.
