“Is there anything you desire, your Majesty?” She desperately wanted to bite her own tongue until she couldn’t speak any longer. There was no doubt in her mind that she was already screwing up something.

"Reasons will become apparent soon enough, I can assure you that." Briala smiled, though it appeared slightly strained.

"All I know is that I don't know a single Human, Elf, Qunari, or Dwarf who would do a better job than you, Inquisitor." She dipped her head at the busy courtyard.

"They all need you. Don't forget that."

                    Sometimes she wonders what it would have been like if she hadn’t been at the wrong place at the wrong time. Or, the right place at the right time. Depends on how you look at it. You could see friends of millions, revolutionary leader. Or, you could see powerful demon, enemy of many. It all depends on the point of view.

                    She thinks about this a lot and today isn’t very different. The Inquisitor stands on the tall walls surrounding Skyhold, keeping everyone locked in and safe. She watches out to the landscape, taking a deep breath as her nails tapped across the stones of the piers. She watches the birds fly by in breathless wonder before glancing back down at the Anchor.

                    What would’ve it been like?
