-Start of something new- (Levi x reader)
So, this is my first imagine! Hope you enjoy it!
You hit the punching bag with all your strenght: a precise kick in the centre of the poor worn-out stuffed sack that ripped it apart, making it fall onto the ground. You looked at that shapeless pile, your mind completely empty, your body so tired you could barely stand on your feet.
It was a wonderful day, sunny, no clouds were seen in the sky, but you coudn't find the strenght to be positive. You were not just in the mood.
You entered the Survey Corps the week before: it was your dream since you were little and that was why your family had always scolded you. You had always been a dreamer and you used to fantasize all day and all night about what you could have found outside the walls, which animals were running out there, which plants were growing, which landscapes were embellishing the world. You had every right to know and the only way to do so was to kill all the fucking Titans.
You sat on the dirty soil, taking your head in your hands. You never stopped training since you joined. You knew all the new recruits were looking at you like you were a total freak, but you couldn't mind less.
Usually, you were good at making friends, but this time... this time you didn't even feel the desire to get to know someone.
You only wanted to become stronger and stronger, your mind only focused on the desire to grow your skills, on the desire to protect. But protect what? Someone you loved? You had none. Your future? You weren't sure there would have been any. Yourself? God, there was no interest in protecting yourself. Maybe your next goal should have been finding something to protect, something you could believe in, something you could trust.
In the middle of your thoughts, you didn't hear the steps of someone approaching you.
“Oi brat, wasn't today the recruits' day off?”
That smooth and monotone voice made you shiver. Your turned your head, seeing Humanity's Strongest Soldier right in front of you, ready for his training, his raven locks falling on his usual apathetic expression.
You stood up quickly, forgetting to do the usual salute: “Yes, Captain Levi”.
He raised his eyebrows, his steel grey eyes piercing yours. You had never felt this uneasy in front of someone.
”So? Why are you here? When we order something, you just have to follow it. Isn't it clear enough?”
You clenched your teeth. You weren't really made to follow rules and certainly not to stay silent. But this time you had to bite your tongue. You couldn't risk to be kicked out, it was the last thing that remained to you.
“I know sir, but this is my way of relaxing” you hissed.
You had really tried to sound obedient, but instead your voice turned out to be so pissed off you only wanted to bury yourself under the ground.
Levi's gaze could have killed you, but you tried to stare at him as long as you could, not willing to lose what kind of game you thought it was. However, even if you had wanted to, you couldn't have taken your eyes off his. They were magnetic, the grey of the iris flowing like some sort of shiny liquid, as if the steel in his look had started to melt.
And there, you saw what seemed to be more than apathy and toughness. It was loneliness and pain, hidden behind a barrier well built, feelings that made your heart pound hard in your chest.
But it lasted for a moment: the second later you came back to reality and you already know you were screwed.
“So, if that's it tomorrow morning you're going to wake up at 4 and train till you can't do it anymore. Plus, in the evening you'll help cleaning all the stables and the bathrooms. Is it clear?”
“Yes, sir”
You looked at the ground, not knowing what to do, becoming more and more embarassed. You never felt that kind of awkardness before. What the hell was going on with you?.
” I better be going” you eventually stammered, wanting to run away, feeling the breeze of an imminent catastrophe.
“Oi” Levi's voice called you back. You closed you eyes, swallowing hard.
“First, you let me see that fuckin' kick of yours”
Your jaw almost dropped to the floor. That was really unexpected:” What?!”
“You deaf? You heard me brat”
“Well... okay” you looked at the sack on the ground “But I'll need a new punching bag”
Levi clicked his tongue, his face carved in an annoyed look:” Are you dumb? I meant against me”
You stared at him, almost in shock. You didn't know what to do.
“Oi, quick kid, I don't have all day”
You nodded, raising your fists and positioning yourself just right in front of him. He didn't really seem to care about what you were going to do next. Levi was just there, his arms crossed, his head tilted to the left.
You lashed out at him, hurling your leg against his waist with all your might. But when your right foot reached his left arm, he abruptly grabbed you calf, twisting it and making you fall onto the ground in few seconds.
You remained there, you right side, the one you fell on, hurting like hell, your left leg in his hands. You thought you could have dodge him, but you didn't even see his movements. You knew he was strong, but you could see with your own eyes that he was on another, unreachable level.
“Stupid brat, don't be so proud of your fucking abilities” he spitted out, bothered: “It's easy to fight and win against a fucking sack”
You looked up, meeting agains his eyes:” Yes, sir” you babbled, taking some air in your lungs.
He left your leg, puffing at you: “Your tecnique is not that bad, I have to say it, but, really, you must remember that you have an opponent in front of you. You are way too sure of yourself, way too careless and way too arrogant”
You held your breath, trying not to reply, but your expression was speaking out loud. He was really calling you an arrogant? Him?
“And way too undisciplined”
Clenching your teeth, you glanced at him. Big, big mistake. It was just a matter of time before he'd have kicked your butt.
“Go brat, my patience has an end”
You started walking away, biting you lower lip, hoping you were safe.
“Oi, stupid shittyhead”
What now?
“You'll clean the stables and the bathrooms for all the week”
You turned your head: he was joking right?
“But why?!”
Under his solid stern look, Levi seemed somehow satisfied:” You fucking forgot the salute. Again. And you didn't fucking clean all the mess you made with your shitty sack”
Oh, you were sure it was the beginning of a long journey.
