Customs

I love Modern Family because I enjoy watching how they blend Colombia and all of its traditions to an American family, and other things, but I want to focus on that.

I want to clarify, we DO NOT give fully cooked turkeys to boys when they turn 16. Even though you could smell the sarcasm, I feel like the show sometimes gives the wrong impression of Colombia and someone that hasn't been there, or doesn't know about it might take it too seriously. I, on the other hand, can't help it and burst into laughter with the reactions of the Americans and how Gloria gets away with most things because it's our tradition. I might actually try it sometime, it looks like fun. 

This episode I really enjoyed because of all the turkey confusion and Phil thinking it shrunk, Claire cooking another one on a bed in the garage, Jay and Gloria hiding from everyone. Another thing, it is super likely that they call Gloria 'La Tranquila', but I know why it may seem ironic to the family.

Spanish vs. English

So, after taking a break from finals week I finally watched this week's Modern Family episode. A couple of things:

Manny, really. YOU ARE COLOMBIAN LEARN HOW TO FUCKING SPEAK SPANISH. I totally get Gloria, even though I hate when people don't bother to learn the basics when they are visiting a country that speaks another language, I would hate even more for me to have to speak in English for the rest of my life because my husband and son refuse to learn at least the basics, honestly, IT IS NOW THAT HARD. Although good attempt from Jay: "quiero poder decirte que te amo en todos los idiomas que conozcas". 

Couldn't stop laughing at the tutor and Gloria speaking in Spanish, even though he could work on his accent, the fact that Jay thought they were talking about him, the faces, everything. SEE WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO LEARN SPANISH JAY AND MANNY, especially Manny with his "take it down a nacho."

Another thing is how Claire wasn't worried at all about Alex. Why do people always think that the smart ones are going to be okay? Sometimes we need people to remind us that we need to sleep. So mum, remember that next time.

I loved how Haley picked herself together and went back into the interview and crushed it and got the job and is finally doing something for her.
