The rest of the week is . . . tense to say the least.

Haru seems to be adverse to Sae like his father's the plague. He interacts with you and Yuki just fine, but the minute Sae enters the room, he falls silent and still. You know it's eating at your husband, even if he does his best to try and hide it.

Finally, the tense atmosphere reaches a breaking point of sorts.

"Sae, please, talk to him," you beg as he gets ready for bed, "He misses you."

"Does he?" Sae asks, turning the sink off and grabbing a sponge to wipe the water away.

"Sae, please. Be anything but sassy right now," you sigh, walking up to his side. You put your hand on his arm gently squeezing his bicep. "He's a little kid, he doesn't know how to deal with his emotions."

Sae stares down at the basin of the sink before turning to you. "Evidently, neither do I."

You shake you head and wrap your arms around his middle, hugging him tight. He's still for a moment, before his hand comes up to rest on the back of your head. Sae turns his face nuzzles into your hair. You turn your head and kiss him deep a slow. It's not enough to heal him and everything he's experienced, but it's enough that he can marginally relax in your arms.

"Hold him," you whisper as you part. "Hug him, rock him, put him to sleep in your arms. It won't fix everything, but it'll be a start at least."

"That's not . . . that's not the problem," Sae groans, stepping back and running a hand through his hair. "I just don't know how to look at him and not see . . . him. Rin."

The name sounds uncomfortable coming from Sae. He says it like his throats a rusty machine that hasn't been oiled in forever, the cogs being forced to run. It takes some energy out of him, you can tell, but it's the most Sae has talked about his late brother in a while, so you consider it a win nonetheless.

"Go," you say more firmly. "He should still be awake reading. Put him to sleep."

Sae sighs and nods, pressing one more kiss to your forehead before disappearing your sight and down the hallways to Haru's bedroom. As he opens the door, he sees Yuki tucking her little brother under the covers of his bed. She startles and Haru's eyes fly open. Both kids freeze under their father's gaze.

"Yuki," Sae's voice is flat as he steps inside, closing the door behind him.

"Mama didn't put Haru to sleep," Yuki explains sheepishly. "I didn't think you would either, so I decided-"

"You're not in trouble," Sae says softly, ruffling his baby girl's hair. He sits on the edge of Haru's bed, and his heart squeezes as the little boy shies away from him. Nevertheless, Sae continues. "I was coming, I just had to do some things first. I- I wanted to talk to you both about something."

Slowly both kids get closer to their father. Haru sits up and scoots closer and Yuki sits across her dad, her hands on his knee.

Sae takes a deep breath before finally speaking. "I'm sorry. I know I probably scared both of you when I got mad, and I'm sorry. I'm extra sorry to you, Haru," Sae's hand rests on his son's head, and he brings Haru closer. His son tucks himself into Sae's side and relaxes a little in his dad's warmth. "I shouldn't have said such horrible things to you. I . . . I can't say how sorry I really am.

"The thing is, recently I've been thinking a lot about my little brother."

"You have a little brother?" Yuki asks, perking up a bit more. Even Haru grows more interested.

Sae's mouth quirks up barely. He nods and explains, "Had. I had a little brother. He's gone now. He died before both of you were born."

Both Itoshi kids are silent before Haru begins to cry. Fat tears roll down his eyes and he shakes his head. Sae shifts Haru so that the little boy is in his lap now. Haru buries his face into Sae's shirt and Yuki just stares at her dad wide eyed.

"How'd he die?" she asks, her voice small and a bit afraid.

Sae takes a deep breath before he whispers, "Sometimes the world is mean to people. As your father, I'll do what I can to protect you from those mean people, but as an older brother . . . I didn't do my part. Sometimes, when the world is too mean, people can die.

"My little brother, Rin, was a victim of a too-mean world, and I was one of the people who was mean. I didn't realize it at the time, but just because I didn't know doesn't mean it wasn't true. Anyways, everything was really bad for Uncle Rin and he," Sae's voice breaks and he pauses, trying to collect himself, "he died."

Both of Sae's kids are silent as Sae talks. "I got married to your mom a year later. We were supposed to get married sooner, but your uncle's death messed me up. I tried to ignore it, but your mother refused to marry me until she said enough time had passed.

"But it wasn't enough time. I don't know if it'll ever be enough time. I never properly dealt with my emotions, the way Mama teaches you two to do. They just kept getting bigger and bigger inside of me, and I just exploded. I'm sorry."

Another tense silence falls over the three of them, before Haru mumbles, "I don't think you're mean daddy."

Yuki nods in agreement. "He's right, you're not!"

Sae squeezes his eyes shut, the sting in them threatening a wave of tears to come flooding out of him. He wraps his arms around both of his children, pulling them tight against him.

"I can be. I can be really mean some times," he whispers, his voice broken and hoarse. "I'm telling you this so you can tell me. Whenever I'm being mean, promise me you'll tell me, okay? Haru, Yuki, please." After both kids give their assent, Sae kisses them both on the head. "I love you both. I'm so sorry Haru, again, for being mean. You know that I don't hate you right? I could never hate you, ever."

Haru nods. "I know Daddy. I know you care about me a lot. Mama and Yuki both say so."

"But do you feel it?"

" . . . sometimes," Haru shrugs.

"Sometimes isn't enough," Sae sighs. He gives his son another squeeze before promising, "I'll make sure you feel it all the time, don't worry. Alright, Haru?"

Haru nods and Yuki smiles at her little brother's behavior. She hugs Haru from behind, sandwiching him with her father.

A couple more minutes pass by before your bedroom door opens. In steps your husband, a kid in each hand. You take Yuki from him and help situate them between the two of you. You hold Sae's hand over their bodies, Haru pressed against Sae and Yuki against you.

Sae stays up for a bit, watching over his family while they sleep, before his eyes finally start to droop. The last thing he hears before he finally gets some proper rest is his baby boy's voice, high pitched and innocent whispering, "Goodnight. I love you, daddy."

If a tear leaks from Sae's eye, well, no ones awake to see.

💀 I just imagine a scenario when wbk boys already became a adult and have a job, hayato. would think of marrying y/n when they are still dating each other, Suo tease sakura about how y/n's last name will be 'suo' since his first name is hayato and his last name is Suo, that meant y/n will be Suo y/n or y/n Suo 👀.

Sakura will be his brother in law, 💀 sakura is protective over his sister( bro is denied it even though its a fact) then he would tell to Suo that will never happened.

Then, time skip to when both hayato and y/n get married ( sakura give them his blessings since he want his sister to be happy and he trust Suo that he can protect his sister, with a threat that if he ever broke his sister's heart sakura will beat Suo into a pulp).

Time skip again after a few years later, hayato and y/n have 2 kids its a twin, a girl and a boy a copy of Suo but the girl have y/n's characteristic.

They gather together as a family, both of their kid love their uncle so much and like to spend their time with him when they gather together.

Suo Hayato xFemReader(Sakura’s twin sister)

Suo was at the Sakura’s home, all graduated and with a job. Sakura Haruka was already use to it, especially since Y/n and Suo started dating since during their 2nd year at high school. Haruka had never really supported the idea of Y/n dating someone like Suo, after all he’s always been mysterious and secretive, it unsettled Haruka.

Usually, he’d just greet Suo and go to his room although he couldn’t at the moment because Suo was sitting on the table and somehow, he was sitting across the man who was smiling innocently at him as if he didn’t say the most traumatic thing a brother would want to hear from his sister’s boyfriend.

“Haruka-kun, what do you think? Suō Y/n sounds utterly adorable won’t it?” Suo smiled at Sakura whose face fell and stared at him as if he caught Suo with a severed head.

“Hah…? HAH???!!!!” Sakura stood up, pointing an accusing finger at Suo as if he commuted a crime right in front of him.

“S-S-S-SUO Y/N?!!!!” Sakura stuttered out his face turning utterly red at the very thought of it.

“N-N-N-NO WAY!!!” Sakura screeched out which made Suo chuckle.

“Hmm? How so? I’m dating Y/n-chan! So if we got married she’d take my last name naturally! She didn’t have a problem with it when I tease her about it!” Suō chimed, making Sakura’s face pale as paper sinking back in his chair. Suō smiling innocently as Y/n came back home.

“Hayato? I didn’t know you were coming over.” Y/n chimed removing her shoes before walking in the kitchen.

“Hmm, I simply wanted to visit Sakura-kun, it’s been quite a while after Highschool I rarely see him.” Suo smiled innocently.

“I suppose…Nii-Chan are you okay?” Y/n hummed before turning to her brother who was sinking in the chair and just muttering something under his breath as if he’s traumatized.

“Suo-kun…what happened?”

“Same old Sakura is sensitive about love topic.”

“Oh…”

“Y/n…S-Suō…”

“Congratulations on being Mrs. And Mr. Suō! You may now, kiss the bride!” The priest stated out loud, Suo ended up kissing Y/n who kissed back. Everyone was clapping, much to Sakura’s dismay who was biting the inside of his cheeks which were utterly red, Nirei had to physically turn Sakura’s head away from the scene.

“Oh, Haruka-kun!” Suo chimed to which Sakura clicked his tongue.

“Congrats, I didn’t know you’d actually be able to hold onto a relationship with my sister.” Sakura murmured his cheeks red despite his words he still meant well.

“That’s nice of you to say, brother in law!” Suo teased making Sakura face turned pink.

“SH-SHUT IT! DON’T DO STUPID SHIT TO MY SISTER!” Sakura screamed out making the other people look at the commotion.

“Hmm? I wouldn’t even dream of it…well if we’re on the same page that is.” Suo smiled.

“Hah? What’s that supposed to mean?” Sakura raised an eyebrow.

“Oh nothing~”

“Whatever, look just…treat her nicely.” Sakura huffed out before walking to which Suo smiled watching Sakura walk away.

“That’s much obvious, Haruka-kun.” Suo sighs out.

It’s been years at this point, Hayato and Suo already has a family of their own. A beautiful girl and boy, apparently twins too, Daiki was older and had the same eyes as Y/n and Haruka, the girl takes after her uncle. Then there’s Hanzō who clearly takes after Hayato himself, despite being twins the two looked nothing alike even in personality. It was their monthly visit with Haruka who spoils the twin rotten.

“UNCLE HARU!!!” The twins chimed in as Sakura turned to see the two children running towards him.

“Sorry for the intrusion nii-Chan! It’s been a busy week…” Y/n sighs out.

“That and also because the twins missed you.” Hayato added.

“That’s fine. Hey there kids.” Sakura said greeting the twins.

“You both aren’t giving your mom a hard time right?”

“Nope!”

“Nah.”

“Well, I’m gonna unpack their things in the guest room.” Y/n sighs out leaving the twins to her brother and Suo followed his wife.

“Uncle Haru! Uncle Haru! teach us how to fight!” Daiki squealed.

“Don’t teach her, she’s just gonna end up fighting some kids. I on the other hand plan to go to Furin.” Hanzo shrugged out.

“You’re playing unfair!”

“Am not!

“Am two!”

“Alright, that’s enough, I ain’t teaching any of you.” Sakura rolled his eyes.

“HAH?! WHY?!”

“Cause your mom would get angry at me.” Sakura sighs out.

“Hanzo, you should ask your dad about that. Daiki, I thought you wanted to be a model or something?” Sakura raised an eyebrow.

“I mean yea! That’s why I need to know how to fight! Mama said that creepy guys are everywhere!” Daiki huffed out.

“Father said I could, he said I should ask you for fighting. Something about fighting is in my blood or whatever?” Hanzo shrugged.

“Oh god help me…” Sakura murmured as the twins kept pestering him.

Listen listen, I know that it’s cute to have Sakura remain at his current height as he grows up while his classmates get taller and he’s stays looking like a tiny feral kitten that can break every bone in your body twice over before you can blink but. BUT. Sakura might be the only character where him growing up to be a tall person might be objectively funnier. Think about it - he still behaves like a feral hissy cat, hunches down on himself because he still absolutely hates the attention on him, blushes right down to his collar bones at the silliest things and still moves and reacts and jumps around like he’s 5’6-5’7 while standing at ume's height and he absolutely hasn’t and will never wrap his head around this fact. Adult tall as hell Sakura who is still everyone’s tiny feral kitten.

WBK 180 Analysis -- Sakura's crisis of motivations?

(TLDR is basically the 3-points list. I have so much to say.) I may also edit this posts later to link textual evidences -- for now, trust-me-bro.png

It's very interesting to see the main character of a shounen to be in a crisis of motivation the way Sakura is right now (this early on at least)... We have seen from the conclusion of the previous arc that Sakura is not quite sure of his original goal anymore, but maybe the upcoming chapters will elucidate on why.

It is quite obvious that seeing how Umemiya is as a person has fundamentally shocked and challenged Sakura’s conception of what a “leader” and especially that of Bofurin should be like. But, I'm quite surprised that the Togame, Endo, and Ume v. Takiishi fights are now playing into Sakura's anxiety too.

So, I have 3 hypothesis/observations on this:

1) Sakura is questioning his strength as a fighter 2) Sakura is re-evaluating what he wants to be a leader for 3) Sakura is understanding the weight of becoming a leader, a symbol, a figurehead — the weight of invincibility.

Let's start consequentially:

Sakura has not (yet) to technically win against his major opponents.

An interesting detail (that I very much love, btw) on how Sakura had won against physically/technically stronger opponents (Togame and Endo) thus far is that he did not overwhelm them physically, but rather by his conviction and “conversation” with them, as Umemiya enlightened him. This is also primarily the way Ume fought, against both Chouji and Takiishi, although Ume's fights are more verbally/obvious than Sakura's. Sakura’s “conversations” to Togame and Endou were deeply internal, where his conviction and ferocity invites his opponent to examine their reasons to fight; meanwhile, Umemiya verbally talks to his opponents.

[DIGRESSION ON UMEMIYA'S VERSUS SAKURA'S FIGHTS]

Going deep into a segue here, but there is a reason why Ume and Sakura has their own opponents. It has never been a matching of strength, but rather who is best to have a conversation with whom. Sakura’s ferocity was what Togame and Endo need to be taken aback by and self-examine their motivations— they’re deeply, consciously thoughtful people that they must be forced to confront themselves. Chouji and Takiishi are very instinctive fighters and don’t think too deeply (comparatively) — therefore having troubles understanding why they’re unhappy. They need an eloquent speaker like Umemiya to “guide” them through. Ume is not going to be helpful talking at introspective people like Togame and Endo; Sakura is not going to know what to say to Chouji or Takiishi.

In a story deeply concerned with how to connect to other people and intentionally, meaningfully build a community, we have seen again and again that the physical fight is not the point, but rather the medium of connections. Similar to how Nirei was best suited to help Sugishita, or Sakura's understanding of domestic violence (neglect, should we want to be precise) makes him most suited to understand Akari, Sakura and Umemiya's styles has its suitable audience. Maybe I'll do a more detailed post on this at some point...

Nonetheless, we see that Umemiya, Chouji, Takiishi, Togame, and Endo are, objectively, several leagues better than Sakura as a fighter. This makes sense: they’re third years, figuratively the “goal post”, while Sakura is a starting-MC going on a journey of growth. So I think Sakura thinking back about those fights may be a sign that he's questioning his strength, or at least be ready to understand deeper why he has won despite the skill differences. All in all, it might be the time we see Togame or Ume or someone spells out to Sakura his strength and how he win— thus informing our dear MC of how he could grow to be a leader and a fighter (both physically and mentally— as he has been doing)

2) Sakura still does not know why he wants to lead Bofurin

At least for now, it seems natural to me that the story will conclude with Sakura becoming Bofurin's leader (take this with a grain of salt-- I thought Karasuno was going to win the Spring tourney too). However, we saw that Sakura has already understood that the reason he wanted to be the topdog for is no longer valid. In fact, Sakura wanted to be the strongest purely for the sake of being so-- in his conscious thoughts at least; it's clear now that subconsciously, what he wanted is acceptance and recognition for who he is rather than what he seems.

When he asked Kaji what the latter wants to do as a leader, as he sees Umemiya more as an invincible pillar of strength by necessity, Sakura already begins to understand that a meaningful leadership needs a "goal". For Umemiya, it is unifying Bofurin to protect the town. Sugishita has a clear goal of maintaining this community that they will inherit. Sakura is not quite sure what he wanted yet-- maybe the next chapter will tell us (the goal of being connected to the larger communities seem nice enough; Sakura has already demonstrated his efficacy in this aspect by soliciting help for their big fight); or maybe not yet. Maybe Sakura will need to step back from this grander goal to figure out what he wants to do as a leader. He has plenty of time still to think about it; it's barely the first ~3 months of school :)

3) The weight of invincibility

Coming back to point 1), we see that Umemiya is not only deeply emotionally intelligent to be able to fight who he fought, he is also an overwhelmingly impressive fighters. He is basically now the strongest in Bofurin history by winning over Takiishi. Sakura's crisis during the Endo fight has opened his eye to the fact that Umemiya not only is currently invincible, he must be invincible as the last bastion of Bofurin in every crisis -- the invincibility comes from Umemiya's conviction as a leader itself. It serves both literal (physical strength) and symbolic (leadership, and Bofurin itself) function in the narrative. Sakura understood the symbolic part; now, he might be feeling the weight of bringing it to literal reality.

And that is a scary thing to strives for! Sakura was psychologically and physically overwhelmed by Endo -- this is the fight that Sakura actually experienced his own loss in -- and has to come back to his symbolic invincibility to bring the narrative to its appropriate end (I will have a segue on this point later; maybe even a separate post). Seeing -- and, following Endo's words, immerse yourself in -- the spectacular brutality that was Ume v. Takiishi really, really drives home the literal pressure of the job. This may means Sakura must gets to a point where he can withstand Endo's sort of psychological attacks, along with the physical strength discussed earlier. And, hell, I would not be surprised if Sakura has to confront the psychological damage Endo did on him-- which revealed his still deep-set anxiety of rejection, along with the newly-added anxiety of weighing people down (typical of someone who just learns to live with, and rely on, other people), etc etc. All necessary character development, and a real, huge, overwhelming mental growing-pain.

So, all in all, natural that Sakura might get cold feet now. Again, still a lot of time to work through it :) WBK's story is not only about community building but also how to truly connect with and embed yourself in that community (the first step to truly build and connect said community). It is a problem that begins during teenage years, and continue waaaay beyond-- and it is all, very compassionately, communicated through Sakura's struggle. Of course he is getting some snags now after a very upsetting conflict, which can prove to be productive, if Sakura (and everyone else can help him) uses it to grow.

Excuse the schizopost but:

I rlly want to yap about this panel of Sakura comparing himself to Kiryu's sister (forgot my baddies name sorry).

Then it cut to this, where it references his younger self.

This can be inteprered as Sakura feeling like (even though he was a kid and never deserved to be treated like that in the first place) he wasn't strong enough like Kiryu's sister, since she took the initiative to pave her own way to break free from her family AND stand up to them while Sakura ran away instead.

I want to instead frame it like (and PLEASE EXCUSE THE BRAINROT) but because we know Sakura as someone who keeps the people he cares about close to his heart (as seen with him getting serious when he asked Nirei who hurt him while they were making their way to Kisei street).

In this chapter and the ones to follow, Kiryu grows to admire his older sisters conviction. So what if Sakura meant he wished he could make that face to inspire his own?

In these panels, it's clear Sakura has a younger sibling of some kind WHICH I FIND SO INTERESTING ARE YOU GUYS HEARING ME THIS IS SO??? CONSIDERING SAKURAS RELATIONSHIP (or lack thereof) WITH FAMILY AND CONNECTION YT. So I was just thinking like, what if he feels like he abandoned his sibling and that he let them down by leaving them in that place?

lets entertain the thought that sakuras sibling maybe was influenced by the way other people were talking about sakura. The thing is, theyre both kids in these panels so obviously his younger sibling is impressionable so everything they mightve said to him is probably misguided. So now, with sakuras newfound understanding of family and whatnot, maybe he like... forgives them and wants to reconnect with them. I am pushing my agenda but you understand me like ...

schizo rambling: imagine theres an arc where everyone meets sakuras sibling or smth... cause fym the MAIN CHARACTER is the character we lowk know the least about next to suo. like YFM??? im crying. Im done . Im done now.

PS: im so curious as to what they might look like as well. Cause imagine this: they come to makochi looking for sakura bc something rlly bad happened at home and hes like . Their only other family tht would get it so they have to put their grievances aside.
