Lexi was heading to the library (as per usual) with what seemed like the world’s heaviest backpack before she was knocked off her feet. “It’s fine,” she replied, casually waving his hand away before getting up herself. “Just be more careful next time.”

“Oh! Sorry, I didn’t see you there. I was just on my way to rehearsal and– Well, I’ll trip over anything. Geez, let me help you up,” Levi laughed, pushing himself to his feet before offering the other his hand.

“Right,” Lexi nodded as she got up, letting the other female take the lead. “And where exactly is this magical milkshake haven?”

James looked up at her with a slight grin. “Hey… I know you…” he mumbled as he stumbled a bit more. “Why are you helping me? I’m fine,” he muttered once more before staring her in the face as she looked at him. “You don’t look fine,” he told her.

Lexi let out a snort. “...You literally said you were looking for me just a second ago.” Not that she’d be surprised, however, if James had mistaken her for someone else in his current state. “Have you taken a look in the mirror? You’re practically drenched in alcohol.” She left the bed momentarily to get a towel of some sort, anything to remedy this mess. “Did you get into some kind of bar fight? I thought that only happened in movies,” the young woman said, scrunching up her nose in distaste.

Parker blinked slightly taken back, he thought they had a silent agreement that they didn’t mention Parker’s intelligence. “Because I can ask you nicely or I can just throw you over my shoulder and drag you downstairs.”

“Are you actually threatening me right now, Parker Ellis?” Lexi asked, raising an eyebrow. She shook her head in bewilderment. “I don’t understand why you’re so adamant about this.”

“Woah, hey deep breaths,” Lexi interrupted, motioning with her hands for him to slow down. “Start from the beginning. Tell me what happened in detail,” she said, her voice laced with soothing and composure. A dispute between friends was something Lexi tried to not get in the middle of, but in this case she knew she had to mediate somehow.

As soon as the door shut behind them, he breathed a sigh of relief. This had been the worst night of his life, and by some twist of fate, he was given Lexi. Once he knew no one was by the door, he finally stated, “Kieran’s pissed at me and James kissed me, and god, I hate James and…”

Lexi hesitated for a moment before setting her textbook down. “I can think of plenty of wrong times to have a milkshake, but I guess I should take a break too. A quick one,” she added.

“How would you like to get a milkshake with me? I could use a break from writing my essay. And there’s never a wrong time for milkshakes.”

Isaiah laid his head against the door. “Simple mistake. And where would I happen to be?”

“Not where you’re supposed to be that’s for sure,” Lexi thought to herself. After taking a deep breath she turned towards him and responded calmly, “Bathroom’s down the hall, third door to the left.” Hopefully that was enough to make him leave, and for Lexi to get her solitude back.

He couldn’t understand someone wanting to strip at such a formal party, but then again it was Greek life. “Are you sure I shouldn’t turn around and run back to the fraternity house with you? It’s empty and the perfect studying atmosphere.”

“Ahh, don’t tempt me please,” Lexi whined, placing her free hand over her heart in exaggeration. “It’s only proper etiquette to stay for at least an hour. If worse comes to worse we can sneak out when everyone’s too drunk to care,” Lexi nodded sagely as if it was the perfect course of action. “Plus, I know you didn’t come here tonight just to see my beautiful face,” she smirked, giving her friend an all knowing look.
