oh boy, did you get dane dehaan for an eight a.m.? wait no, that’s lexington sperling. I heard the thirty year old is a professor who gives a pretty touch lecture in english. he tries to be passionate and reliable but on the stressful days, they are abrasive and short-tempered. when they get a chance to relax, catch them at the local bar listening to drop the guillotine by peach pit.
born october 27, lexington sperling was deemed the ‘golden boy’ of his small french village. his hair shined like sunlight and his laugh could be heard bouncing off the stone roads as he lead adventures with his younger sister. he was highly curious as a child, something that would follow him throughout his years –– something he sort of hates about himself. it was his curiosity that lead him to follow sounds that seeped through his walls late at night. he followed them to his parents bedroom, peeking in to find his father harming his mother, something that didn’t quite register in the small boy’s mind. lex’s eyes met with his fathers, the smaller boy’s eyes glowing with that same curiosity that drove him to that spot in his parents doorway. His mother shook, but stayed silent, as his father turned on him instead, lexington returning to the safety of his room with a forming bruise under his left eye.
This was the moment lex’s childhood faded away, along with the curious thoughts and his desire to explore the world. He now had to stay on his feet, listen to the sounds of his father’s car or the echoing of boots against wood floors. He shielded his sister away from the abuse, creating game and stories to keep her childhood alive. This worked for years, Lex taking the brunt of what his father dealt, until the night when it no longer mattered.
Lexington mother was killed when he was 15, his already fragile life falling to pieces before him. Alcohol and blood stained the rug in the living room, the smell never quite leaving the home no matter what he did, no matter how much he cleaned. His sister was now no longer a child, her life crumbling besides his. With their father behind bars and the help of distant family, Lexington and his sister moved to the United States, rebuilding a life and trying to move on.
It’s been nearly fifteen years since all of that went down, Lex having grown into someone he doesn't entirely hate anymore. He continually blamed himself for what happened, for the abuse he suffered and all trauma it caused, but he's keeping his head high. He’s found a profession he adores, allowing himself to be a mentor and someone who can influence younger people, something he never really had growing up. He strives to connect with his students through the world of literature and fantasy, both academically and on a personal level.
He’s still bitter and rather cold, an internal fear of anyone getting too close to him, but everyday he's moving towards the person he wants to be, to a healthier, much more real, Lexington.
