three random facts

once (accidentally) (for real this time) food-poisoned the female lead and the understudy in a low-stakes class play and still didn't get the part.

spent the entire first semester of her first year wearing berets because her mother told her it'd get her cast in all the "artsy stuff." it did not.

made a legitimate bag doing extra credit work for other students for a flat rate of ten dollars for every hour it took for her to finish it; turns out money really isn't a problem when it's midterm season, go figure!

she's in a girl band, they sound like haim and holychild probably and all of their lyrics are written on napkins in sparkly pen #girlpower

she loves going to school sanctioned events, but always winds up leaving half-way through out of boredom. her excitement for prom stems entirely out of wanting to dress up and she almost certainly won't last long enough to see anybody's crowning.

she's a member of the school's cheerleading team even though she's kind of just objectively bad at the actual cheering part. the problem is she's a really good flyer because she's throwable and not at all afraid of heights (or much of anything, frankly), so she's a little bit indispensable.

her original plan going into university was to do something practical and then when she got famous at some point down the line, she'd be one of those miracle celebrities that was "almost a doctor" or whatever.

she's the kind of person who is very serious about taking notes, like she has pens and highlighters of every size and color and multiple notebooks dedicated to each subject - even the ones that don't actually need them. she likes to show up to class a little early so she can set up her space for optimal learning, comfort and hydration. she loves skewl. [heart-hands]

CW DRINKING the first time she went to a real, legitimate hardcore university party, she got so drunk that she ran around campus and her friends had to chase her down to get her home. for such a slow-paced person, she's an incredibly fast runner, actually, if you'd believe it. she's since toned it down lest she embarrass herself again.

she's kind of a flirt and, because of that, wound up the subject of a rumor that suggested that she was the catalyst for her dorm's RA's boyfriend breaking up with her. she'd literally never seen his face before, but was so annoyed about it that she just ran with it out of spite.

she's someone that definitely gets mixed reviews. part of it's because she's a hard sell first impression-wise, but the other half is really just the fact that she's got a cold vibe to her despite having such a cute, approachable face.

hiiiiiieee, i'm miffy (yes, like the rabbit) + this is hyein. you'll come to find that that in and of itself says a lot. she's a pretty girl with mommy issues, problems with authority, and ambitions that far exceed her capacity. :p like this if you're interested in plotting, and i'll slide into your dms or give you my dcord, if you so desire. i look forward to writing w/ all of you!

heavily inspired by the overall vibe of jam jam by iu, jane doe by ladies code and black pearl by sunmi, very moody and bittersweet, siren-y? she's like if a cat were a person. "i want you to like me, but not at my own expense. maybe yours."

she's a look into what happens when someone who grew up with a parent that spoiled and lived almost entirely through them escapes the nest and has to learn what to do with all that fancy new autonomy. she's pretty deep into her journey and very headstrong because of it, but still has a lot of room to grow

cold but spunky?

hyein is someone who moves at her own pace; she's pretty calm and collected externally, most of the time. internally, she's a little bit of a rollercoaster, but she's got a good poker face.

great sense of humor, albeit dry. you really either get it or you don't, but she finds herself very amusing and WILL laugh at her own jokes ☝️

surprisingly clumsy, if she's holding something there is a roughly 80% chance she will either drop or almost-drop it. either way, you didn't see it...

she values her autonomy and is a firm believer in questioning authority. kind of in the "punk" way, but mostly in the "child who grew up with a helicopter parent" way

her mother was both an almond mom and a stage mom, and would probably be a momager too if hyein hadn't cut the cord in college

control freak, probably

hyein went from being a child who almost never cried to a woman who cries with just about any bout of intense emotion. sadness, anger, happiness, fear, excitement, she's, at the very least, tearing up a little.

if you ask her a question or for legitimate feedback, she's going to answer honestly, and if that's not something you're ready for, you should probably ask somebody else first. she used to be a lot worse; when she was younger, consequences were almost non-existent, but as an adult, she's come to understand that there's a time and place for bluntness. it's still most times and most places, but she's not as harsh about it and really tries to consider the way she comes across. especially if the person is someone she cares about. or there's a camera lol

a lot of her worst behaviors are probably posturing for self-preservation honestly

i say that, but she's also surprisingly very good with people, in general - call it the gift of gab (or being the daughter of a lawyer) or some innate magnetic quality. she's got a strong mix of charisma, confidence and presence that makes it pretty easy for her to take the reigns in most situations

she's really proud of the things that come naturally to her, if she didn't have to work hard to be good at something, she's not going to pretend she did but she'll also totally absorb any and all praise about it

as far as things she isn't as naturally good at goes, she's a functional perfectionist, so what she lacks in effort for the things she's already good at, she pours into trying to be just as good in her weaknesses

this isn't a personality trait but she has the incredible super power of girl-ifying boy group choreography. like she's so Girl!

the story

i have her bio in like two different places on her page, so i won't put it here a third time but i'll give you a quick rundown if you don't feel like reading it!

she's the incredibly loved child of divorced parents; her father is a lawyer, her mother is a sonographer, and she grew up very indulged and never had to want for much of anything

it was apparent very early on that her mother had positioned hyein as something for her to live out all of her failed dreams through. so, being that she'd failed as a dancer, hyein was put into dance classes as soon as she could walk. which she hated!

despite this, she carried on with it because it made her mom happy and she was good enough at it that it wasn't really something she was stressed out about. plus, once she started doing it competitively, she discovered that she really liked the attention that came with performing

once it came time for college, she decided to do her own thing and majored in acting (because, well. she's pretty and can cry on command, and wasn't delusional enough to believe she'd make it very far as a real dancer. she also really enjoyed the art of film and photography as a whole anyway, so she saw it being a field she could grow into long-term), joining the cheering squad as an extracurricular to keep her mom satiated

the summer of her first year, she auditioned for legacy as an act of defiance after an argument with her mom (something something stop being so controlling im an adult now something something) but actually wound up getting in so!!! here we are! her ambitions are ever-growing and her focus is ever-shifting, but her current fixation is acting with a sub-interest in being an idol.

wanted plots

the unholy trinity - bffs - gorgeous gorgeous girls who are a little bit awful, but love each other very much. most of the time.

black pearl - ex / close friend - hyein hasn't done much in the way of relationships, but she's experienced enough to know when something good comes around. this person saw the good in her at a time where she could hardly see it in herself and, because of that, they'll always hold a very special place in her heart. even now, they're a friend that she considers to be one of the only people who truly knows her.

hot to go! - crush? - hyein is just really stupidly attracted to this person. she's not actively of the mind that it'll go anywhere, in fact she's kind of certain that it won't, what with how fickle her feelings can be, but she's not shy about it.

spicy - someone who has a crush on hyein - she loves being wanted, so i could see this being a push-and-pull kind of thing where this muse never really knows entirely where she stands, but she leaves their interactions up for interpretation just enough to keep them interested and the fantasy alive lol

no angel - enemy - this person is really up their own ass with moral superiority and makes sure that hyein knows it. hyein thinks they're a total hypocrite.

butterfly - i'm not sure what precisely to call this dynamic, but it's someone that hyein sees, not necessarily a naivety but, a purity in that she wants to preserve, because it's hard to believe that someone can truly be that good. and it's so easy to lose some of that good in this line of work, so in the least condescending and patronizing way possible, she's kind of adopted a responsibility / protectiveness over them in some way or another. they make her want to do better.

also, of course, the usual standard plot jump-offs are definitely a want and need! i'm pretty flexible as far as getting the ball rolling goes!
