what’s good y‘all, please call me tomomi (she/her): i’m 21 and i’m (finally) back in my regular timezone, est. i was on vacation but i managed to get my app in while waiting on my delayed flight. anywho!

below is a concoction on katayose ren: a 22-year-old (23 this fall) trainee from okinawa looking to make his last shot into the idol industry before it’s too late ‘cause he’s not getting any younger. feel free to like so i can make my way into your dms to plot!

born and raised in tomigusuku, okinawa, so he’s an island boy through and through (i mean mainland japan is an island too but you get it)

his mama’s a professional stage actress/kabuki dancer who was known around okinawa and traveled to naha often for work. through her, he was introduced to jp traditional dance and kabuki theater, while copping minor roles in okinawa as a kid but nothing major

moves to kumamoto cause his dad got promoted to a law firm in the mainland, so that means ren’s gotta make friends, get used to his surroundings as a kid, and drop that damn okinawan dialect cause barely anybody could understand him. started taking up dance classes cause to a 10-year-old’s logic traditional kabuki theater isn’t that fun as he’s starting to realize that he’s got rhythm in his local hip hop dance class

joined johnny’s entertainment through his dad who was always supportive of ren’s endeavors, but also a big shout out (and thank you) to dad’s coworker who was probably like “he’s kinda cute and can dance, why don’t you send in some headshots to johnny’s?”

in the same year was when his parents went through with their divorce because they just fell out of love + kept arguing about money/finance in their household. ren moved (again) to tokyo with his mom while she remarried some guy he’s not fond of and stays in touch with his father

while in johnny’s, he becomes part of a trainee pre-debut group (johnny’s jr group) called st4tic project that raised some popularity. in my head the group was inspired by ya-ya-yah (performance reference here)

anyways ren screwed up when things started to look good because he went out to drink with some girls and they snitched on his ass to paparazzi so he was kicked out of johnny’s for underage drinking. thanks a lot kaede

lots of inconsistency here: he goes onto an idol show but nothing came out of it, agencies wouldn’t work with him for a debut, his step-father and mother thinks he should quit altogether and go to university like everybody else and get some sad ass salaryman job 

and ALAS... he auditioned for legacy in july 2017 and got accepted as part of their trainee program! so now he's here!! cheers! he pushed thru and now it finally awarded him halfway there. now he’s just gotta focus this time around, play his cards right and secure the bag for a successful debut
