how did I not know that a billionaire funded all of the nancy drew games because they wanted games that were mind-stimulating and not just violence-centered and because of their funds, that’s the only reason the company stayed afloat and were able to make the wonderful game series that exists that I replay every year to escape adult responsibilities

So I was replaying TRN and realized something. Jake Hurley knows a lot about crystals and their properties as well as elements. (He has a whole book on it and a periodic table). We can assume he’s scientifically minded by the way the colors and light reflect off the gems to produce a light phenomenon that eventually becomes the white light needed to locate his mine.

In the game, John Grey mentions that the dancing lights outside the train are most likely the metal from the wheels reacting with quartz in the ground as they roll over it. Quartz was one of the gems in Jake Hurley’s book, and I think it’s safe to assume he’d also be aware of its properties.

See where I’m going with this?

I think Jake Hurley knew that the dancing lights weren’t Camille. He would have been able to deduce that it was most likely a natural phenomenon. But his grief overshadowed everything, and he chose to ignore science for what would bring him comfort.

It doesn’t really change the game at all, but definitely adds another layer to the relationship and ultimate tragedy of Jake and Camille.

Cleaning today, I found this ad in the back of my old Hardy Boys book 😍 It even features some concept art specifically for TRN that I’ve never seen before. They appear to be in the mines towards the game’s end sequence? I see they’re wearing the same clothes, which makes me wonder if they were suppose to have more presence at the end? 🤔

ALSO!!! Where is all this wonderful concept art?!?!?! Petition for @nancydrewpcgames to open the vault and release it allllll muhahaha! There’s no telling how much we haven’t even seen 😁

People never complain enough about the game from TRN with the miner and the evil abomination that makes that nerve-wracking NEENER NEENER NEENER sound when he beats you! I hate this game so much! And I love TRN, but then I get to this part and have to waste at least an hour trying to get through…

I want a Nancy Drew game where she’s going up against another detective on a case. Kind of like with Tino Balducci in TRN but they’d actually be competent and then Nancy and the other investigator would keep fighting and trying to one-up each other with their snooping discoveries and sass.

Two Headcanons (in no particular order): TRN’s Camille was Infertile - ½

I considered skipping this one because although I love reading headcanons, I do not really have any of my own, but I thought as the last person still doing this (darn being 3 days behind!), I’d give it a shot! A few months ago I saw a post with people speculating that Camille from TRN could not have children and that’s why she was so taken to collecting the dolls; they were like her substitute children. Would definitely explain how heartbroken she was when the head of one was cracked. If I find the post again I’ll link it!
