My Manifesto
After analyzing and decrypting my writing or blog post for an overall theme that may relate to the fourteen posts this semester, the theme conveyed throughout the blog post is seriousness, conciseness, or calmness throughout multiple blog posts. My overall focus when writing this semester was to share my ideas about the topics presented concisely. I strived to complete the objective; you can view an example of this in a blog post titled "Ekphrasis" the post is about a picture I selected from the book. I explicitly chose this picture due to its seriousness. To describe the image is of an enslaved person named Kunta Kinte. Kunta Kinte is in chains. The chains are wrapped around his hands and neck, almost as if he's an animal. My goal with this blog post was to describe what I saw and saw a once-free man. The tone I wrote is firm now that I have read it back. One thing I have noticed about my writing is that anything written referring to the past is written firmly for the reader to understand the severity of specific issues. For example, the post written titled "Public Art." The objective of this assignment was to locate a historical piece within my local community. The approach in this piece is the same as the other in tone, but I wrote it objectively and concisely as I did not want to appear biased in any way when writing this post. For example, I describe General Robert E. Lee as some of his admirers remembered him as I went on and stated, "Lee was a notable figure on the confederate side." I did not want to discredit this general due to the social or political issues surrounding him or the people who idolized him. I wrote concisely about the social problems surrounding him and the statute presented in the post. Another example of the seriousness conveyed throughout the post states, "Objectively the figure represents a proud historical patriotism to the confederate party and the skill of the notable general himself and is symbolic to the many conservatives who live in lee county." As you can see, I looked at this issue neutrally despite my opinion of the piece. I chose to present that we, as Americans, can express ourselves freely despite facing persecution from others. Other themes, such as the serene or calm approach in my other post, allowed me to produce a response creatively. Such as the post titled "Representative Work," An example of the serene nature of the blog post. I described the scene as "The art piece is a vivid painting containing soothing colors such as green, orange, and blue as well as other tones to convey the mood of the atmosphere, which is a calm setting with distinct changes occurring within it." When writing this, I felt the painting. The painting made me feel as if I were inside it myself. The soothing colors of the paintings are described in a calming tone in which the picture is a calming, serene depiction of nature in this piece. An example is in a blog post titled "Architectural Interiors." I described one of my favorite areas in my home: "The patio is everyone's favorite space considering the number of cookouts hosted. The backyard is filled with vegetation or produce. The grass is lovely and vivid green, almost like living outdoors." I am concise with the rest by describing the rest of my home. I am a fluid writer, fluidity and explorative, where the language written in most blogs transitions in a sense that does not feel mundane to read. Considering my favoritism over this space in my house, I got to the point concisely. An example of this would be when I stated that the lines are random, but the artist meticulously placed them to form things or individuals. Almost as if the lines symbolize a different perception of how to perceive reality itself or an alternate version." I am a fluid writer, fluidity and explorative, where the language written in most blogs transitions in a sense that does not feel mundane to read.

Like my brothers and sisters, I am a captured man, an enslaved person renamed Tobi who lost their true identity in a society made up of the captured. The masters renamed me a name I will never be or desire to become. I was once a free man, but that was until they seized me and renamed me. I once had a name, and that name was passed down to me by my mother or handed down to me by my father's father. Now my new name is one designated to me out of necessity. These chains they put on me, these rags for clothes they make me wear, do not suit the man I once was. For now, I am a slave with no jurisdiction over my person, oppressed just like my brothers and sisters. My purpose to be human was taken away by the ones I call master, for they have renamed me a name that is not mine. For now, my purpose of being is to serve and listen to every command. I am enslaved just like the children I raised; hopefully, my ancestors will raise their children to be free. I decided to write from the perspective of this enslaved man because I felt the overall tone of the piece presented. I felt this man capturing the essence of an enslaved person's neck and hands chained up as he looked down with anxiety and fear of the unknown. I took a more severe approach because I felt what this image was conveying to me personally.

Not seen on TV
After viewing the five videos provided, I decided to write about the fifth and final video by Francis Alys and Rafael Ortega, titled "Re-Enactment." The video consists of a man who walks into a store and purchases a gun. There is no apparent reason for the man's motivation behind this purchase. The video is fascinating this character is walking through the streets of Mexico City toting around a gun. The atmospheric reaction of the people throughout Mexico City was very mixed. To describe the feeling the video conveyed to me by this man. It felt like this man was walking with a purpose despite no apparent reason as to why he chose to do this, but it felt like he was hunting something down. The atmospheric reaction from the individuals who witnessed this man walk through the streets of Mexico City was a look of concern and shock. Culturally speaking, chaos is nothing new in Mexico. Objectively it seems normal to the civilians who witnessed this man toting around a gun. Almost as if it was nothing new to the people within that area.
As you can see, some individuals encounter this man with smiles and laughter. Crime in Mexico, in general, is rampant and prevalent within this society. Some of the reactions of individuals throughout the city conveyed normalcy to such behavior. The main idea could be that danger is well-known and has grown accustomed to individuals in that area. Almost as if there was a lack of control over potentially dangerous situations like this demonstrated.

Tragedy Scripted and Staged
I decided to analyze the scene from "Hamlet" scene 3 act 3. To summarize, this act is after the play coordinated by Hamlet as a test to see King Cladius's reaction. Hamlet coordinated the reenactment of his father's death as the spirit of his father. The ghost of King Hamlet confessed to Prince Hamlet's atrocity inflicted by Claudius. Scheming and plotting, King Cladius is planning for Prince Hamlet to go on an accompanied voyage to England to conspire and plot the prince's death. Several characters in the play, such as Guildenstern and Rosencrantz, aid in conspiring to kill the prince. One can say how they articulate their thoughts conveyed powerfully. For example, as explained by Cladius, the actions in which he sinned the murder of King Hamlet began to eat at his conscience. Cladius intent for committing this act was strictly business with the strategic planning behind it. The vanity in his decision to murder the now-deceased King Hamlet has finally appeared. Cladius reinforces his feelings of guilt when he confesses and demonstrates paranoia by sending Hamlet away with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern sympathize with the present King Claudius supporting the importance of his ideas and the decisions he decided. He was admirable to those he was around for his skills in diplomacy, considering it made him such a persuasive person to those around him, except for Hamlet. Hamlet is no fool and is not susceptible to the plans, ultimately leading to his death. Betrayal and vengeance are themes suitable for this scene and act.

After watching both films, "Casablanca" and "Dr. Strangelove." one can conclude that both films achieved certain aspects as it pertains to their theme and how the director of each film effectively conveyed the plot and theme of both films. The movie "Casablanca." takes place in french Morroco During the WW2 era. The main character Rick Blaine is the owner of a prevalent nightclub where all the notable exiles gather and mingle. The movie's plot is a romance that consists of the fling that once existed between Ilsa and Rick. Rick is surprised and runs into Ilsa, who'd he thought he never see again, but surprisingly enough, fate brought the two to Casablanca. Rick is the key to Ilsa's escape and migration to America, but Ilsa fails to mention that she has a husband who happens to be a fugitive fleeing from the Nazis. The director of this film did a great job illustrating through the character rick, who's aurora's stoic and stud-like individual Rick. The people around the socially disconnected Rick are curious to know more about this notable mysterious figure. The film director did excellent at demonstrating the pain Rick felt when his old flame Ilsa came to Casablanca and was searching for him to explain what happened between them both. An example of how their break up affected Rick is throughout the film. The grudge Rick held against Ilsa for what occurred between them did not only within Rick but also to the ones who knew Rick personally before even arriving in Casablanca. Ilsa is the only individual throughout the film who appeals to Rick's emotions as the resentment of seeing her faded because his love for her is firm, ultimately affecting his decision to look out for her best interest. The second film, "Dr. Strangelove." takes place during the Cold war, and the plot of the film is about a commander of a U.S. Air Force Base, General Jack D. Ripper, who diverts his B-52 bombers from airborne alert to an attack on the Soviet Union with nuclear weapons. The satirical theme of the movie is conveyed well, as you can see throughout the film, as it demonstrates the state of political affairs during the Cold War. The severity of the Cold war is taken lightly throughout the movie, as it mimics regimes.

The Godfather and La Jetée
The Godfather was a fascinating movie to watch, and the film and director of the film, as well as the actors, did a superb job of demonstrating its artistic goals throughout the film's duration. An example of how Michael, played by Al Pachino, achieved this is in the form of a juxtaposition. Michael, the only pure-hearted individual apart of his kin, slowly transforms or evolves into a person mirroring his father. The loyalty and love he feels for the ones closest to him ultimately kills his admirable nature for the sake of business handling between his family's mafia members and others.
La Jetée was fascinating to watch as the film progressed, and the storyline is rather interesting. The creator of the film Chris Maker did a remarkable job conveying the storyline in the form of pictures. Typically films are motion pictures, and the director Maker coordinates or arranges the collection of images throughout the film to describe the experiments held on these prisoners in the film. As the film progresses, the plot becomes more complex but remains understandable. The film was captivating to watch, and no scene was a bore, as you have to be attentive to follow the storyline.

The overall theme of the collection of pictures taken would be good fortune and clarity in the eye of whoever may perceive the displayed images. The first image is titled "LUCK." simply because the image itself has the number "777" going across the license plate of the black car. To associate the theme of clarity with this image would have been my ability to focus on the license plate itself. I associate specific superstitions with their designated symbolic features. Good fortune is something one must realize and can not ever go unnoticed. To tie the theme of clarity to the second photo titled "SUNSET." The clarity in this photo is displayed by the remarkable street view and the sunset, which is genuinely simplistic yet aesthetically pleasing. Are we fortunate to be able to perceive life so vividly, and how is an appreciation for one's ability to see through life with such clarity? Yes, because the human capacity to perceive and see to interpret is phenomenal. The third photo in the collection, titled "Day," is simple yet beautiful, of the same view as the previous image. Appreciation was the catalyst of this collection, and this image's main objective is to capture the clear, vivid, yet cloudy blue afternoon sky. In the fourth image captured and titled "Coco." the coconut tree is standing tall and symbolic because it is a tree that bears fruit. The tree represents the life we see, and light is responsible for bringing most things to fruition. To compare this specific photo with the second and third is the overall ability of light to create. Whether that be our ability to see objects, light, and clarity are related simply because of humankind's powers of perception. The final photo is quite playful of ties into the positive aspect of all the images. The fifth and final image is titled "Chillen." which displays a lively dog that is playfully vibing out on its own. Big but majestic the dog is peacefully existing. The dog held this still position for quite some time, and the dog and the tree relate to one another. Despite being big and sturdy, both are lively.

The overall theme I selected when selecting music to create this themed playlist was the theme of heartbreak, despair, and honesty. The message of all songs remained the same throughout each piece throughout each genre of music. The first two songs on the list exemplify the feelings of despair, being that both artists are in desperate states expressing their emotions. In today's day and age, emotions and the expression of said emotions are challenging topics to digest. The guitar and piano heavily influence the sounds in both the songs mentioned. The piano is an instrument that can express the feeling each piece conveys: sadness, the sadness of being without their significant other. Both artists are vulnerable in expressing their thoughts to their audience through the slow, sad rifts of the guitar. Towards the middle of the playlist, the sounds begin to change as I transition into country and R&B. The theme of honesty is prevalent in both artists' works as they express the time spent in their failed relationships. As both tones are still slow and sad, they are significantly different the overall messages expressed in both songs remain similar. Conveyed by both artists, honesty is the focal point of both pieces as one artist. Usher is, confessing the infidelity, which ultimately severed the connection he once had with his partner. As for Wheeler Walker, his honesty is conveyed by his feeling of hate towards his partner. As for the last two songs, the theme of honesty and despair is prevalent throughout the lyrics. As one artist, Bryson Tiller repeatedly demonstrates the same toxic behavior to try and win love and gain the attention of the girl whose heart he has broken numerous times. The song's tone is slow and melodic, and the intensity of the song progress through the lyrics. Lastly, the last song drastically differs from the first song, but the structure is similar to the first four songs due to the melodic tones, memorable slow guitar rifts, and inclusion of the raw, honest message. The song written is not for anyone but a general group. The song advises its audience to remain vigilant and open to the idea of heartbreak and to transition from it and blossom.

Plotting
The time and place, I-75 north, I was traveling fast, even exponentially increasing over time. My eyes are in the rearview, not believing what intuition says, "maybe it's the police," but I ignore it. I am cruising at high speeds, lane-switching without a care in the world. The little white spec in my rearview turned into an everyday car, but this was not your ordinary vehicle. "Whoop whoop," the lights from the car in the rearview illuminate indicating to me to stop. As he pulls me over into the grass, the officer stops and exits the vehicle. The officer asked me, "Do you know why I pulled you over today?" I obliged and politely answered the rhetorical question, "Yes, officer, I was speeding." Concise my response, the officer followed protocol and asked for my ID and registration, and walked into the distance back into his unmarked vehicle. 15 to 20 minutes go by, and the officer's figure grows in my side view mirror. I am greeted again, but the officer is bearing expensive gifts as I roll down my window. The atmosphere of the car's climate-cooled interior and Florida's hot, humid environment merge. The officer proceeded to explain to me the infractions written against me, which could have been worse. I expressed my utmost gratitude, and the officer and I went about our day, never to meet again. The lesson learned that day was never to second guess yourself and to believe in your intuition in the face of danger.

Poetic License
After reviewing and selecting the right poem that conveyed my feelings about the aspect of life itself or a generalization on how life itself can feel, the poem that I selected for my synopsis is one by Aram Saroyan titled "Life is a dream." The overall theme of this piece is that despite life being prevalent, it could also be imaginative. For example, in the second stanza, a metaphoric device is utilized to express the author's imagination. The author conveys this message powerfully as this represents his mind as it wanders into the distance of their imaginative thoughts. Another example of a metaphoric device utilized is the sixth stanza, where the author describes a child's emotion to the likeness of burning wood. A child's emotions are strong, and they express themselves in totality like a raging fire holding no feeling back, whether happiness or sadness. The diction applied in this piece with the author's use of comparisons of things and relating them to certain aspects of reality. Figuratively connecting reality with imagery, additionally and ironically, the last stanza kills the youthful interpretation the piece conveyed. The author utilizes two opposite words, which ironically are closely connected. Ultimately, despite our ability to help us cope with such a dull atmosphere, reality as we see it is inevitable and inescapable. I felt that towards the end of the piece, the author became more raw and honest with his thoughts and explained his imagination and perspective on the aspect of life that revealed itself.

Architectural Interiors
Tumblr media
To describe my home of residence, the home itself is very segregated, and each section of the house, except for the dining room table, is accessible. The home has an open living room and dining area, and the areas within the home. The kitchen is partially covered by a rather large wall that surrounds the kitchen separating the living room from the kitchen, creating a partial view of the kitchen. The spaces within the home are all closed off. All but two rooms are close to one another. The interior of the house is painted in a light color. The amount of light that travels through is limited to the size of the windows surrounding the home. My home is very segregated, quiet, and cold. The space has evolved more into a work and sleep space. My house is not welcoming if you have not built any rapport with anyone who lives within it. Its function is very much a domestic space. It is a home base where I regroup to go out into the world, whether replenishing myself or I need a place away from others. My favorite place in my home or in general would be the lanai or patio. The patio is everyone's favorite space considering the number of cookouts hosted. The backyard is filled with vegetation or produce. The grass is lovely and vivid green, almost like living outdoors. The shade itself is beneficial, considering Florida is a hot environment. The time spent on the terrace is enjoyable when the breeze is nice and cool. Personally, when I grow tired of inside the house, I sit outside, eat, and work on my laptop or enjoy the elements outdoors. To compare it to my favorite space to a space within my home. One would say the ability to lounge if no space is uncomfortable. Those two areas are interchangeable. Once inside is too cold sometimes, it will be hard to work. A change of scenery is all I need to keep pushing forward. I enjoy both my personal space with my room and patio. The only reason is my room; I am at peace knowing I have finally made it to my room. The patio is my room away from my room. Considering my room is a one-stop shop, I work in it and sleep in it. At times I grow tired of being in my room. As I explained earlier, my home is very segregated.

Public Art
Tumblr media
A local historical monument that has proven to be very controversial is the Robert E. Lee statue. It was located in downtown Fort Myers until protest erupted, and progressive members of the community fought to have it removed from the public. The monument itself has caused fracas amongst members of both political spectrums of the local community. Due to Roberts E. Lee's past and the type of imprint he left in the area. The memorial honoring the late general was installed in early 1966 but officially dedicated on January 19th, 1996. The piece's subject would be historical, with a sense of patriotism or political division. The sculpture capture and express its purpose by commemorating the late generals' legacy. During the civil war, Lee was a notable figure on the confederate side. Florida itself, or some areas at that, have always been conservative. As time progressed, individuals' social perspectives evolved. Individuals with progressive ideas fought with local government officials to remove the statue. The statue's removal seems ironic, considering that the United States is supposed to be a country open to new ideas and the historical context of the past. Objectively the figure represents a proud historical patriotism to the confederate party and the skill of the notable general himself and is symbolic to the many conservatives who live in lee county. Lee County is a community or specific social group that is conservative and lives structured lives, which happens to be the majority. The sculpture is of the top half of the general body. It is not small or big, but the area where it is located is notable. It happens to be a prime area in the county, which is downtown Fort Myers on Monroe Street. The statute's impression may be that politically Lee county is conservative with the law and how they decide the decision process to issues they incur.

Abstract Images
Tumblr media
After exploring and discovering new paintings to discuss, I decided to analyze an untitled piece of work from Jackson Pollock. When interpreting the piece of art itself, one can conclude that there are people in the painting. Most of the dark lines within the art piece take the form of making individuals. The lines are random, but the artist meticulously placed them to form things or individuals. Almost as if the lines symbolize a different perception of how to perceive reality itself or an alternate version. Despite the variation of lines painted onto the canvas, one can only notice that the artist may have been moving aggressively with their strokes. For example, the black lines form blobs or figures, which can potentially be people. Almost as if Pollock was moving freely and aggressively, throwing additional lines along the lines he had initially placed on the canvas. When gazing, it felt he was in some state of flow, almost as if he used his imagination to alter the things he saw or we perceive in reality, giving the painting a different form. The hue of red within the art piece stresses the idea that the collection of black lines forms something much more. The redness aids the idea and differentiates the fact it may be a thing or object. The painting itself elicits feelings of passion. Aggression is noticeable throughout the piece. The lines that make up the things or objects we see within the work are aggressively jumbled together. Accented with red, a color that symbolizes aggression, anger, or passion. As mentioned before, I feel as if these figures make up people. One person so happens to gravitate more towards the other. It is like one is losing to another. By the way, the lines flow, and everything gravitates to the left from the right of the canvas. One aspect of this painting that gravitated me towards it was that it is untitled and the colors used, despite the variety in color, are minimal.

Representative Work
Tumblr media
After browsing, the work selected for this assignment is a mountain range painting. The art piece is a vivid painting containing soothing colors such as green, orange, and blue as well as other tones to convey the mood of the atmosphere, which is a calm setting with distinct changes occurring within it. Prevalent details about the work would be that nature contained itself, such as the mountain range and the clear waters below the mountainous range, as well as the vegetation or plant life contained in the piece. A specific detail that would complement the other aspects listed is the change in seasons exemplified by the transformation of the vegetation within the painting. The significance this painting brings is that it illustrates feelings of contentment and evolution—the message of contentment conveyed by the stillness of the water and the change of the seasons. The painting indicates the seasonal change of summer to fall and how life requires a level of serenity or contentment to evolve effectively. The first time I experienced nature, so serine, such as the piece of work selected, was when I visited Colorado. Colorado is a state filled with mountainous ranges and no service. Once you realize your purpose of visiting, you only realize that you would have to forget the world around you. To focus on the moment, you have with yourself and nature. Visiting Colorado allowed me to evolve individually, changing my mindset regarding spending time with myself. A theme prevalent within this painting is the serine feeling it exemplifies. Also another significant theme would be the evolution of life as it takes its course; one can only notice changes through the different phases life presents to us individuals. It symbolizes the overall message of peace once nature is not exploited or polluted with worldly things.

About me
Welcome, everyone. It is nice to meet you all virtually. My name is Jason, and I am a full-time student at FSW. I have been in attendance since the fall of 2020. I graduated high school in 2019 and took a year off to gain a sense of reality. I was utterly lost and afraid to commit to anything. Once I enrolled, all the anxiety went away. I work from home and have been for over a year now. I manage properties, but my work consists of people complaining to me about in-home issues. I did not want a dead-end job to define my purpose in life. At first, I aspired to be an engineer, but I fell off that path, and for some reason, I grew more fascinated in the area of business, explicitly accounting. I hope to transfer to a four-year university to complete my degree. In my free time, I exercise, and I enjoy the computer. I have built my own, and trust me, computers can get rather expensive. When it comes to exercise, as of late, I have been powerlifting. I want to be able to compete to see what the atmosphere in weightlifting is like; also, one can not go through life without having done anything one genuinely desires to do.
