calum didn’t waste any time. he followed finch right into the building, using his oxygen so that he wouldn’t breathe in any unnecessary smoke. he almost rolled his eyes at the other’s reaction to them getting there. they moved as fast as they could and they didn’t really ever take their time but he didn’t have time to defend them. he had a job to do. he bent down, lifting the other up carefully and putting him over his shoulder as he glanced back at finch, check for that boyfriend that the other is talking about and i’ll get this out out of here.” he told him as he headed toward the door with the unconscious man over his shoulder. @light-them-up
It took Finch a moment before he reconized the voice. “Axel?” Finch questioned before he looked over at Calum and nodded his head. “Axel, go with him and get out of here.” Finch said, his voice sounding a bit muffled from the mask he was wearing. “Be careful Calum.” Finch said as he moved further into the building, looking to see if anyone else was near by. His foot kicked something, and it skidded across the room. Finch looked over at it, and saw it was a bottle of vodka. Probably how the fire got started it. As he moved further into the building, he heard a creaking behind him. Finch turned to see what the noise was and watched as the roof caved in. “Captain, this is Finch, the roof has caved in blocking my exit. I'm going to try and find another way out.”

the moment the call came over their radios, a group of them hopped in the fire engine and rushed toward the fire that was called in. the adrenaline that rushed through his veins was something he’d never get tired of because he very much loved to help and these sort of situations were ones that he knew people needed him most. he looked over at finch, who was driving, and then back out of the windshield. they knew it was a fire but they never really knew how bad it was until they got there.he hopped out of the truck once they got there, scoping it out and then looking back at finch. “let’s go.” he watched as the other guys began to get the hose out to water down the fire but him and finch headed toward the building to make sure no one was inside. “shit, this is getting bad, and fast.” @light-them-up @islandofmuses
Finch pulled the truck to a stop and jumped out, he grabbed the rest of his gear before he looked over at Calum and nodded as they made their way towards the building. “Let’s just hope it doesn’t jump.” Finch said as he looked over at Calum, smiling slightly before he pulled his mask on as he they approached the door. Finch kicked it in and stepped into the bar. “Fire department, anyone in here?” Finch called out as he made his way into the building more and spotted movement. “Cal, over there.” Finch nodded as he headed towards the bar. “Sir? We are going to have to ask you to leave, get down low and get out.” Finch said as he moved closer to Axel before his eyes dropped to the body on the floor. “Shit.” Finch rushed over and knelt down as he reached up to his radio. “Control, this is 118. We have an unconscious male, send a bus right away.”

Sometimes Alejandro got nervous with Christopher because the poor kid was overly friendly at times. He would go up to random people and try to talk to them. He didn’t want to stop his son from being social, so he didn’t scold him but he did let him know that he should be careful because not everyone was nice. The message seemed to stick, that was till Al looked up and didn’t see his son. Panicking, he looked around and noticed him talking to another boy. Moving over to his son, he had met him just as the other guy met the other kid and he chuckled. “Looks like they found a new friend.” Al chuckled.
Finch watched the man, before he looked down at the kids. “Seems that way.” Finch smiled softly when Liam looked up to him. “This is Liam, and I’m Finch.” Finch said as he looked back to the male. “Uncle Finch, can I go play?” Liam asked as he tugged on Finch’s sleeve. Finch glanced over the near by playground, before he looked back to Liam. “As long as you careful, and I have your crutches alright. Let me know if you need them.” Finch said, running his fingers through Liam’s hair. “You also might want to check with the kid’s father before running off with him.” Liam nodded towards Al. Liam grinned as he looked over at the male. “Can we go play?”

“why’s that?” calum was curious. maybe the other was just a private guy and there really wasn’t anything to be ashamed about. he just wanted to make sure that his coworker knew that. “that makes a lot of sense. it’s good that he has an uncle like you to look out for him.” while normally, he would’ve asked about the parents, he felt as if it was a good idea not to.
“Got enough looks of pity or whispers behind my back when I lived in the city. I didn’t want it here, I’m not ashamed of him.” Finch said as he smiled softly as he watched Liam. “I just don’t need people talking about my life, behind my back.” Finch shrugged as he grabbed out some cups before he pulled a bottle of soda out and handed it too Calum. “I’m hopping he is happy, he looks happy. It’s a big change for him.”

He smiled as the kid shook his hand, then turned back to Finch, “Hey that’s cool man, letting him chose what he wants, some parents are a little…wing cutting,” he said pulling a face, luckily Axel had great parents, they never forced anything on him and let him find out what he wanted to do, they were suportive, loving people. “You wanna learn some more chords?” he asked Liam, before truning to the other again, “That’s fine, man, you don’t have to, I have a lot of fu–time on my hands, and like I think I’m driving my boyfriend a little crazy for never letting him do his work,” he chuckled, he was proud he was so distracting to Nate, but he also knew the vampire would apreciate some peace, “So like, it would be good to have something to be distracted by, and at least I won’t get f–dumbped for having him fired,” he chuckled. “Sure why not? I’m sure we can find something in there, right?” he smiled at the kid. “How old is he?”
Finch smiled as he watched his nephew play on Axel’s guitar. “He’s already got so much stacked against him, who I am to tell him that he can’t do something.” Finch shrugged as he looked back at Axel. “As long as he happy, enjoying life and his health stays where it is. Then that’s all I want.” Finch said as he looked down at the food before he pulled out a few sandwiches as Axel talked to Liam. Liam nodded his head as he looked up at Axel. “Yes, please.” Liam said as he smiled softly before he walked over to Finch and sat down next to Finch. Finch smiled as he moved a hand and ruffled Liam’s hair softly. “I would like to pay you something, it’s still taking up your time.” Finch grabbed the plates and placed them on the blanket before he pulled out some more food. “What does your boy...boyfriend do?” Finch asked softly as he looked over at Axel before he looked back to Liam. He knew how that sounded. But it’s not what he meant, he just was expecting Axel to come right out with it. All Finch heard in his life was to keep something like that quite and hidden. Finch licked his lips as he looked up at Axel. “He’s seven.”

“Nice to meet you, Liam, I’m Axel” he Said reaching out his hand for the kid then smiling at the guy, “Nice to meet you too” the Wolf nodded. “He’s gonna be a drummer?” He half joked, chuckling a little, "I don’t mind showing him a few things on the guitar, would you like that?” He aksed Liam before truning to Finch, “You should Stay too, see him leaning” he didn’t want to sound weird, the kid was interested in music and Axel would never say no to music lessons, “we don’t bang on guitars, though they are pretty fu–sencible and I don’t wanna buy a new one some As–idiot alrwady broke mine a while ago,” he Said as he watched the kid wander off into the sand, “he seesm like a good kid.”
Liam reached out and shook Axel’s hand, before he laughed as he pulled his hand away. Finch shrugged a little as he looked up at Axel. “He could be, if it’s what he wants.” Finch said as he smiled softly as looked back at Liam move over to Axel’s guitar. “Thanks, but I can’t really pay for any music lessons at the moment.” Finch said softly as he shrugged a little, he knew that Liam would love to take music lesson. It would help him, to get use to being around other people. “Well we were about to have lunch, if you want to join us. Though Liam helped pack it. So I’m not too sure how much can be eaten.” Finch said as he moved a hand and rubbed the back of his neck before he nodded his head. “Yeah, he’s a pretty good kid.”

rowan smiled with delight. she liked seeing others be happy and if it’s something as little as a sand dollar, she’d take it. “well that’s the thing. sand dollars live in water but this one hasn’t been in the water in a long time.” there’s no easy way to explain death to a child is there? “you can usually tell because sand dollars have soft little bristle like hairs and it’s dry. i can’t promise you we’ll find another but you can have this one.” rowan explained, holding it out for liam to take. sand dollars were a rare find but she didn’t mind giving it to the boy. when he took it, rowan looked up at the man. “i’m rowan. it’s a pleasure to meet the both of you.” she can’t help the little bit of an english accent that shines through. even though she was english by heart, she had been learning and picking up little bits of languages here and there. “want to know a secret?” she asked as she bent down to be eye level with liam. “the best time to find things is in the morning during low tide. it’s quite an adventure.”
Liam smiled as he took the sand dollar and turned it over in his hand as he looked it over. “Thanks Rowan.” Liam grinned as he looked up at Rowan. Finch chuckled as he watched Rowan and Liam interact. Liam didn’t interact with a lot people, the trauma of losing his parents set him back and Finch was worried Liam wouldn’t come out of it. “Lovely to meet you Rowan.” Finch said with a smile as he moved his hand and ran his fingers through Liam’s hair gently. “Uncle Finch wouldn’t be able to bring me that early, he’s busy with work a lot.” Liam said softly as he looked up at Finch before he looked back at Rowan and shrugged. Finch sighed as he shook his head. “Maybe one day, we can do that.”

calum was pretty good with kids and he hoped that finch would agree. he definitely didn’t want to make things awkward, that’s for sure. the man nodded, looking over at the other man. “i didn’t know you had a kid. you never mentioned it before or maybe i wasn’t listening, i don’t know. how old is he?”
Finch looked over at Liam, smiling a little before he looked over to Calum. “No, I haven’t mentioned him. I don’t know, I just keep it quiet.” Finch said softly as he handed Calum a plate of sandwiches. “He’s seven.” Finch grabbed some paper plates and placed it near Calum. “He’s my nephew, I got full custody a year or so, and brought him out here a few months ago, thought the clean air would do him some good.”

“Hey! I know you, right? From the fire station. I’m Teddy, well Theodore but most of the folks there call me Teddy. Most people in general do, I don’t know why but it’s just been something I’ve been called for years.” He admitted. He rambled when he was nervous and with the random kid coming to him and then this guy who looked like he could snap Teddy in half, well that didn’t help much. “Oh, he found this thing in the dirt and wanted to know if it was mine.” Teddy showed him an action figure that the kid handed to him. “I told him no, but I wanted to clean it before I gave it back to him. I don’t know where it has been and people can be really gross.”
Finch raised an eyebrow, and laughed softly as Teddy rambled. “Yeah, I’m from the station, moved here a month again.” Finch smiled as he ran his over Teddy, before he looked down at the action figure Teddy held out. He looked down at Liam, who was looking up at him. “I’m not sure if you should keep it Liam, someone might come back a find it.” Finch smiled softly as he looked back at at Teddy. “Maybe we can just leave it near by, and hopefully the owner comes back.”

Axel was just sitting around, enjoying the day, the Wolf was happy. The talk with Nate really ease his mind, it was good to know and it was not like he had any doubts, but it was good to hear the vampire was there, he’d be there no matter what, them together… He was playing a little with a smile on his face when the kid approched, he seemed interested in the guitar and Axel wouldn’t mind this at all.
The wolf looked up as the man came over, the protective stand was understandable, his child was talking to a stranger, “Hey,” he shook his head, “He seemed to like the guitar, so I was showing him a few notes,” he explained, “Is he your kid? You may have a musician on your hands” he joked.
Finch nodded is head when Axel asked if Liam was his. “Yeah, he is mine. This is Liam.” Finch said as he patted Liam’s shoulder softly. “He liked music at his old school, making noise. Banging on something.” Finch said with a soft laugh, as he looked over at Axel. “But he hasn’t started school yet, so we haven’t really go him back into music.” Finch said as he watched Liam walk towards Axel, a bit wobbly on his feet. “Be careful Liam, I know it’s hard to walk on the sand.” Finch said as he resisted the urge to help Liam. Finch brought Liam’s crouches with him, but on the sand they didn’t do much to help the young boy with his walking.

rowan has come to find the island was as beautiful as she had been told. the issue is… she didn’t swim all that much. the woman wasn’t a fan of not being able to see your feet in water or potentially swimming with creatures that could sting and well; everything else imaginable. that didn’t stop her from enjoying a walk along the shore, picking up the occasional dried and dead thing. she had already found a few star fish and now she had found a sand dollar. her knees were bent as she investigated it, finding the sun blocked slightly. she looked up and smiled.
“what’s that?”
and that’s how she stood, sand dollar in her hand so he could see her find. rowan looked to the man and gave a shrug. “nope. he wanted to see the sand dollar i found.” fingers hold it up for him to see, giving it a little wave.
Finch looked down at the sand dollar in Rowan’s hand, before he looked over Liam, and saw his face light up as he looked at the sand dollar. “Oh that’s pretty cool, isn’t it Liam.” Finch said with a smile as he watched reached out for the sand dollar. “Can we go find some more?” Liam asked as he looked up at Finch, grin spreading across his face. Finch looked back towards the women, before he looked down at Liam. “I don’t know where to find any, you might have to ask this lovely lady where to find them.” Finch said as he looked back at Rowan. “I’m Finch, and this is my nephew Liam.”

calum chuckled at what the kid said next. firefighters in general worked too much and it wasn’t just his uncle. “that makes two of us. we’re saving people though. almost like superman.” he informed the kid. he wanted him to know that he was working to help people. he looked back at finch and smiled a little, “no, we haven’t. we’re usually busy running calls. i’ve been on the island for a couple of years now. not too long but long enough to be comfortable.”
Finch smiled as he watched Calum interact with Liam, it was good to see. Liam nodded his head as he moved back to the sandcastle he was making. “Be careful. Let me know if you need any help, kid.” Finch said as he watched his nephew for another moment before he looked back too Calum. “It’s good to have a moment of peace.” Finch unpacked some food and placed it down on the blanket he brought. “Yeah, It’s a good place to raise a kid, especially one like Liam.” Finch said with a soft smile.

“no big deal. i understand.” with everything that went on around here, he knew it was best that he kept a close eye on the kid. a smile appeared on his face. he liked kids and was actually really good with them too. “that sounds like fun. are you excited?” his broken speech obviously hadn’t bothered calum and he wasn’t judging him. “i guess not,” he paused, his smile growing as he asked if he wanted to join. he didn’t have much else to do so he figured he might as well, “yeah, sure. i would love to.”
Finch watched as Calum talked to Liam, a smile forming on his lips. It was good to see Liam interacting with people again. It took awhile for Liam too start talking after the accident. Liam nodded his head. “Yes, Uncle Finch has been working too much.” Liam said as he looked up at Finch and smiled. Finch rolled his eyes as he ruffled Liam’s hair. “I’m sure if anything serious happens, we will be the first to know.” Finch said with a soft laugh before headed back to the area. “Liam, come up when you get hungry, alright.” Finch smiled as he looked at his nephew before he looked at Calum. “So I don’t think we really had time to talk much. How long have you been on the island?”

calum had noticed attitcus from a far. he was relatively new and he was trying his best to help him feel welcomed and so, he approached the kid that was with him. “a day out, huh?” he spoke, giving the kid a smile and then turned to look at attitcus as he spoke, “what? you don’t recognize me unless i’m in uniform?” he asked, chuckling. “how’d the two of us both manage to have the sam day off? crazy how that happened, isn’t it?” but eventually everyone had to have a day off.
Atticus smiled once he realized who it was. “Sorry, I just get about cautious when I see people talking to Liam.” Finch said as he squeezed Liam’s shoulder gently. Liam smiled as he looked up at his Uncle before he looked at the other male. “Uncle Finch wanted to give me a day out.” Liam smiled, his words a little broken but still understandable. Finch nodded as he looked back to Calum. “I guess, they don’t need everyone on today.” Finch smiled as he nodded his towards the area he set up. “Do you want to join us? Liam mad a picnic lunch.”

Atticus sighed as he placed the bags down on the bench, before he laid out a few towels. He looked over at his nephew, Liam making sure he was in sight before he went back to setting up their area. It was a nice day out, Atticus first day off in awhile that he wanted to spoil his boy.
Atticus was about to sit down when saw Liam talking to a person, that Atticus didn’t recognize. Atticus brushed some sand off his shorts before he headed towards his nephew and the stranger. “Hey there.” Atticus called as he waved a hand towards them. When he reached Liam, he placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled at him. “Anything I can help with?”
