I have this theory that for a long time the tiger was one of the most tortured members of the zodiac because it is the most dangerous/feared/intimidating forms out of the evolved zodiac.
We only see Kisa as a tiger cub. She’s small, easily hideable, and cute. But as an adult, she would be a full grown tiger. Out-of-place, a predator, and likely terrifying to encounter in the middle of modern suburban Tokyo. I wonder if her predecessors kept others at a distance, if they flinched away from touch, if they felt lonely or more monstrous than the others.
A dog zodiac could greet a courier in their form. Some students might be confused why a bunny is in their classroom all of a sudden but not afraid. Cows, horses, sheep are farm animals. The tiger zodiac really has no recourse if someone saw their transformation

A filler doodle from Takaya for chapter 100 in the manga
thoughts:
- does this imply that the love triangle was originally Shigure worshipping Akito and Kureno worshipping Shigure
- it makes sense to me that Kureno would have grown up looking up to his ~cool~ older cousin which is what i think the worshipping implies in this case
- maybe that adoration morphed into imitation
- Shigure strikes me as the kind of person who was called mature for their age but then just never actually matured as an adult
- We never see Kureno being accepted by any of the other zodiac members even pre-curse breaking and Akito isolation
- Kureno was always the outsider (isolated from the rest of the world by the curse and then isolated from the zodiac by his curse-breaking) which is why making a connection with Arisa was supposed to be a big deal (but was actually emotionally flat and pedophiliac) the idea of outside connection brought about in some other way could have worked better

i love how we’re supposed to believe that it’s called ‘Fruits Basket’ because of some game that Tohru plays as a child when in fact it is because every single character is some shade of gay

Fruits Basket is wild because the premise is "Haha! Wow! These Pretty Anime Men turn into Animals when theyre hugged and then when they turn back they're NAKED!!! 😳😳😳 ehe silly anime!" but then you watch it and its like. Every Character on this show is physically, financially, and emotionally controlled by one person with immeasurable wealth and power. the main characters stories revolve around their slow recovery from the trauma of physical/verbal abuse, sexual manipulation, and neglect. there's a love triangle that isnt even about Who Gets The Girl, but rather each individual's growth as a human being, understanding that they are worthy of love and compassion, that there are people in this world who will love them, unconditionally, and that they DESERVE to be loved. love EXISTS and nothing about them makes them unworthy of whole, unbiased love. that realization is a pivotal part of their healing and it's a central theme of the show that comes up for each and every character, whose own journeys follow that same thread of healing past wounds with compassion, love, and friendship.
and then they like. barely ever turn into animals.

Tohru & Kyo - New Year Dance🎍✨
My head canon is that although Kyo was never invited to the jyuunishi New Years celebration he was always in fact an amazing dancer. Now he and Tohru are married and they get to perform the New Years dance together for the Sohma family 🐱🍙🥺💕
