Personality Trait(s): Nazarene is quiet, poised, and clever. She is kind and warm, but far from a pushover, with the same determination and fortitude as her kin. She's uneasily intimidated and highly stubborn when she wants to be, but can remain calm in high-stress situations, which allows her to command a room if she so desired. While her ambition lacks the intensity as her brothers', the interest in the throne is still there, but quiet, with her being content on finding her purpose elsewhere.

She refuses to allow herself to be defined by her House, but... does carry the guilt for the pain her House, and Empire, have wrought throughout the years. It is a guilt she refuses to let crush her, and a guilt she strives to learn from. She wants to be better, and she keeps that thinking alive in Larsa, who she believes will be the better Emperor out of them all.

Although the only daughter of Gramis and Amoretta Solidor, Nazarene was overshadowed by her brothers, and as she grew older, she was careful to keep it that way.

She was an obedient girl growing up, quiet and clever, though enjoyed the company of her brothers whenever their studies overlapped. Her interest in the throne paled in comparison to theirs, but it was a shared interest nonetheless, just one she preferred to see how it would play out, rather than prepare herself to fight for it. She watched, and listened, and found her own interests between what was expected of her. Her future held the potential of a betrothal, something she accepted despite her private dread at the thought, but it also offered a bit more freedom than that of her eldest brother - the freedom to chose what she wanted to become, if she were not married off or chosen as heir.

It was a freedom she kept close to her chest, one she valued but didn't cling to with the knowledge it could easily be taken from her, but she allowed herself to indulge in other studies that captured her attention. The game of politics, although she proved herself capable of playing it well, was only a passive interest of hers, though it was architecture that truly caught her eye. It was something she was eager to dive into, whether it was listening to the various architects that worked around the palace or digging through old notes and studying past work. The idea of building something that could outlast her, something that could visibly remain standing for all to see, was tantalizing, and it was something she pursued with passion. Her kin acknowledged it in passing, though it was clear to her that, as long as they didn't perceive her to be a threat, they were content with leaving her alone, and she accepted it. She didn't mind being overlooked - it meant more freedom, and it meant her survival.

Because of that, and because she saw the vileness that poisoned her brothers and the vileness her mother wore like a sickly perfume, the vileness that her father was attempting to undo, Nazarene was determined to be better. She was gentle, and kind, and looked out for those around her, rather than just herself. A lamb, they called her, for she was amongst snakes and wolves who would kill her in a heartbeat if they wanted, but she was no bleating prey. She was too clever to be caught, careful to blend in with the pack and mindful of where she stepped to avoid such slithering dangers, and she lived with confidence, rather than fear. They saw her gentle gaze, and missed the fangs that she could bare in a smile.

Nazarene had just become a woman grown when Amoretta became pregnant again, and although she dared not say it, she had a feeling the child was not of her father's. She knew her mother was unfaithful, yet remained silent on the matter not for the lack of proof, but because Gramis refused to acknowledge it himself. He spoke nothing of it, nor did her brothers, so she kept it to herself as well, though her disdain for her mother only grew. Her father was not a perfect man - she was well aware of that - but not even he deserved the sort of person Amoretta was, and she was content keeping her distance from her. But she watched, wondering how it would end, but she couldn't see the way it would go.

Her mother was murdered in her birthing bed, killed by a Rozarrian spy posing as a midwife, and although she held no love for her, it was an act so brutal it shocked her to her core. It was Judge Magister Gabranth that had killed the spy in kind, and in doing so, he saved the newborn babe from an uncertain fate - a fate of death, or a fate of capture. It was better left unspoken, but with the boy so vulnerable, Nazarene couldn't bear to leave her baby brother to the wolves. She was yet young, but she willingly stepped in to raise him to ease the burden from her father and brothers. Larsa, as her father named him, needed a wet nurse still, but Nazarene was happy to care for him in every other aspect. Not only to help ease the burden from her family, but to ensure he would not grow to become like their brothers, or like the man their father used to be. Like her, they would see him a lamb, and, like her, they would fail to see the power beneath.

Death would come for House Solidor again, when her two eldest brothers were killed for their ambition. It pained her deeply, for she remembered the days when they were young and carefree, but she was not surprised. They had allowed their ambition to cloud their senses, to darken their hearts and fuel their desires, and for the threat they posed not just to their father, but to the stability of Archadia, they paid with their lives.

Nazarene prayed she could prevent the same fate from befalling Larsa, for she could see the darkness taking hold of Vayne.

She had been close to Vayne once, back when they were children, but drifted apart as they grew older, but she refused to accept that he would be lost like their older brothers were. She did her best to reach out to him, to make sure he knew he could follow his ambition without turning to blood, but as the war dragged on and Nabudis fell... she realized it may have already been too late. Nabradia was lost, and Dalmasca was swiftly annexed by Archadia following the assassination of their king. An assassination that didn't sit right in Nazarene's heart, and one she feared may have yet been caused by her own brother's hand.

It was then she slowly began to shed the wool that clouded the view of those around her, though she knew she was only putting herself at risk. She would prove herself a lamb no longer, but a wolf in sheep's clothing, and she would do so to ensure Larsa's safety, and the future of not only Archadia, but of all of Ivalice.

Would Cygni or Noctus have been a good Empress/Emperor?

((Mmm... Cygni wouldn't be a good Empress, and Noctus would be a good Emperor, but Larsa still would've been a better choice.

Cygni simply doesn't have the personality for an Empress, heh. She's not cruel or anything of the sort, but she's quiet and more passive than her family (which... by their standards, is very passive, but she's not a complete pushover), and doesn't have much interest in politics. However, while she's not Empress or Empress material, she does end up becoming an ambassador for Archadia post-ffxii to help forge and maintain a better relationship between her homeland and the other kingdoms. If she did become Empress, she wouldn't be bad, but she would be relying a lot on her advisors, the Judge Magisters, and/or the Senate, if they're around, to help her get the job done, so she wouldn't be great, either.

Noctus, on the other hand, would make a pretty good Emperor! Definitely far better than Gramis, since he wants a more peaceful future rather than trying to expand Archadia's borders, but Larsa would still be the best option. Noctus is more Archadia-first in his thinking, just not violently so, and far more cynical than his baby brother. That doesn't mean he won't work with, say, Ashe and whoever actually leads Rozarria, but he'll probably be stubborn about it, and won't want to involve Archadia more than is necessary, such as the scrapped events of Fortress.

Vanilla Sunday Meme

1. Is your muse a romantic? Do they dream of love and marriage?

Noctus is romantic, deep down, but he's not holding out for it to work with him. Ignoring his guilt for a moment, just given he was Lord of Archadia and the favored son of Gramis (at the time/before Larsa), he never really had the chance to think about having a relationship of his own choosing. He always knew there was a strong chance he would marry for political reasons over love, and with him being demiromantic, he never put much stock into having a relationship based on romance. But, if it worked out for him, he'd absolutely be a romantic, heh.

2. Is your muse a deviant? Are they overly flirtatious or forward?

Like I mentioned above, he was Lord of Archadia, and had a strict image he was held to. He couldn't risk being flirtatious or forward, lest he ruin himself or cause problems for his family (he was aware of his mother's behavior to an extent), and, at the time, wasn't really interested in having flings. But, with that said, now with him as Khaz, I do see him having a few one-night stands, but those are few and far between. He's still not fliratious or forward, and those usually came about with someone hitting on him who he found attractive, and let one thing lead to another.

Hmm... I'd say evenly split! He doesn't really have a strong preference - he just likes who he likes, heh.

I'd say... the few one-night stand partners he's had were mostly men, but not all of them were!

Not really for both, heh, at least when it came to his flings. For an actual relationship... it'd depend on his partner, I'd say. He'd be willing to leave hickies if they wanted them, and he might accept a couple if they wanted to give him some, but I really don't see him going for it. He doesn't hate 'em, just... not his cup of tea.

18. Does your muse like to be pinned down, or to pin their partner?

Noctus would rather pin them down, heh. It's not really a trust thing or even a dominance thing, it's just a preference. He's a giver, I'd say, so him pinning them down/being on top in general is more his way of being able to do that!
