Hi! I stumbled upon your blog while trying to find some info about Reimeiroku and wanted to say Thank you so much for the Reimeiroku translations! I’m having a blast reading through Hijikata’s route! I love this series so much!

Sorry to bother you but I also wanted to ask, I saw that Reimeiroku received a Shinkai release and wanted to ask what is different about this version compared to the original. Does it add additional routes for the Shinkai guys? Does it also revise some parts of the original? It’s surprisingly hard to find much info about this game haha

Hello! Thank you for reading my translation! I'm aware the writing isn't always up to standards, but I'm glad to hear you're having a blast! Reimeiroku is so full of information on the why behind the characters, I hope that it will get an official English release one day. It deserves to be known in the west as well!

I say that, but I haven't actually played much of Reimeiroku beyond translating Hijikata's route and reading everything that Tokio Fujita had translated on their livejournal. Every port of the game had a little added (be it story content, or extras), and so has Shinkai Reimeiroku.

I had a little look at the material that @kumoriyami-xiuzhen posted when the port first released, and the red box below Okita (2nd image) in this link says they added a collection of episodes (文久心覚え "Bunkyuu memories") featuring both the old and new cast.

That's how you get this image of Ryu interacting with Souma despite the latter not being involved with the Roshigumi/Shinsengumi until well after Chizuru joins them.

Another thing they did is add CGs to the main route where there might have been lacking some. For example, I can somewhat confidently say that the first CG in this post is supposed to fit in chapter 5 of the main story (Ch5.2 in my translation).

There might have been some rewriting, but I can't really say how much or where. This port also includes some of the side scenarios that were added to some of the earlier ports (like "The day the demon fell ill" and "Disturbance in Shimabara").

I'm planning on getting Shinkai Reimeiroku at some point (in Japanese even, if no official translation is announced before the end of the year), and I could tell you then, but otherwise this is about the extent of my knowledge for the Shinkai port.

It's nice seeing support for Reimeiroku. (b '')b It's a really solid story about some of the bloodiest months in the Shinsengumi's early days. And the characterisation is handled superbly. They all have blood on their hands.
