buck realises he's in love with eddie, panics and immediately starts inviting ravi along to all their one-on-one hang outs to act as a buffer. eddie at the end of a shift is like hey you wanna grab breakfast and buck with hearts in his eyes is like y-yeah I would love to I love breakfast a normal amount (kill bill sirens playing in his head) HEY RAVI you're coming to breakfast with us. ravi: i... am? buck: it's not optional
it takes ravi all of five minutes to clock that he was not invited along solely for his sparkling personality but he watches buck sweating through his tshirt and is like you know what it's fine buck needs this, plus buck keeps buying him food to make him stay and as we know ravi will never turn down a free meal
meanwhile eddie is watching buck drag ravi around everywhere and pay for everything and he's adding up 2 + 2 = 5. he corners ravi alone one day and tells him look you're both adults I'm not going to tell you what to do or threaten you- ravi: ... thanks I think? eddie: I just want to make sure you aren't messing him around because he has this habit of falling into relationships when someone wants him without thinking about what he actually wants and he's (choked up) he's such a great guy he deserves the world
ravi: ok cool. btw who are we talking about
eddie: buck. you're dating buck
ravi: I'm going back to b-shift
(needless to say this lasts for like one week maximum before buck snaps and blurts out his big love confession because he can't not share his every thought and feeling with eddie (see also: I didn't know you were thinking about getting a dog))

what if Bobby really dies and Gerrard comes back...will Eddie be able to join the 118 team again?
they've been implying that Eddie 'will always have a place in the 118' because of Bobby..

Got this idea for a drifting apart buddie relationship prompt.
The weight of expectation leads to misunderstanding and blame
The air in the firehouse kitchen was thick with the smell of burnt coffee and unspoken tension. They just finished their shift from a major incident. Everyone is tired and Buck especially, had been feeling the pressure lately. Since Eddie's return, he’d consciously tried to be the unwavering support system, the reliable co-parent to Christopher, the ever-present friend. But lately, it felt less like a natural extension of their bond and more like an unspoken obligation. Eddie, still navigating his own problems, often leaned heavily on Buck, and while Buck genuinely cared – he does, the constant responsibility was starting to feel like a weight he couldn't always carry with a smile.
After the particularly long and emotionally draining shift, Eddie was fretting about Christopher's upcoming big school project. "I just don't know how I'm going to manage this and work," Eddie sighed, running a hand through his hair rather dramatically – Buck notices.
Without thinking, the accumulated pressure bubbled over in Buck. "And you think I don't have my own life, Eddie?" The words came out sharper than intended. "It's always about you and Christopher. I get it, he's your son, but I'm always here, always helping, and sometimes I feel like it's just expected of me. Like I don't have my own things going on."
Eddie recoiled, hurt flashing in his eyes. But underneath the hurt, a different emotion flickered – suspicion. "What 'own thing'? we're practically living together!" He misinterpreted Buck's frustration as dissatisfaction towards Christopher. Eddie had been hyper-vigilant about protecting Christopher since Shannon's death, and Buck's outburst, in Eddie's mind, sounded like someone tired of the responsibility of being around his son. "And what's that supposed to mean, Buck? Are you saying you're irritated being around Christopher now?" Eddie's voice was tight, laced with a defensiveness that surprised Buck.
"What? No! That's not what I meant at all," Buck protested, instantly regretting his outburst and now horrified by Eddie's interpretation. "I just meant I have my own stuff too, sometimes it feels like..." He trailed off, realizing the damage was already done.
Eddie didn't seem convinced. He simply nodded slowly, his gaze hardening. The misunderstanding hung heavy between them, "I'll come back home – I mean to your house tomorrow." Buck quickly said picking up his keys, eyes anywhere besides Eddie's. A rift definitely establishing between them.
A few days later, they drove separately to the station. Buck went to get coffee while Eddie sent Chris to school. The moment they arrived, the alarm went off. The 118 was called to a chaotic multi-car pile-up on the highway. The scene was gruesome, with multiple injuries and fatalities. Both Buck and Eddie were running on adrenaline and fumes, the earlier tension and Eddie's lingering suspicion still simmering beneath the surface. Waiting until it boils and overflow.
During the extraction of a trapped driver, a crucial moment arose. The vehicle was precariously balanced, and a wrong move could send it tumbling. Buck, focused on stabilizing the wreckage, called out a plan of action. Eddie, however, was still wrestling with the thought that Buck might resent Christopher and, by extension, their entire dynamic. These negative thoughts clouded his judgment.
"Eddie, I want you to secure the chassis while I try to get to him", Eddie, perhaps subconsciously wanting to assert control or feeling like Buck wasn't taking the situation seriously enough (fueled by his misinterpretation of Buck's earlier comment), deviated slightly from Buck's plan. He acted impulsively, believing he had a better, faster way – to just hook the chains to the car's door post and reach for the victim.
Unfortunately, Eddie's action, caused a sudden shift in the vehicle's weight, momentarily jeopardizing the stability and causing a secondary injury to the trapped driver during the extraction. "What the fuck Eddie!??" Buck roared whilst trying to stabilise the victim from the driver's side. While they eventually got the driver out, the added complication and the driver's worsened condition weighed heavily on everyone.
In the immediate aftermath, amidst the flashing lights and sirens, Bobby was debriefing the team. Eddie, his face pale and etched with stress, turned to Buck, his voice tight with barely suppressed anger. "You weren't clear enough, Buck. If you had just explained it properly..."
Buck stared at him, stunned and hurt. "What? I told you exactly what I was going to do."
"No, you didn't!" Eddie snapped, the exhaustion, lingering hurt from their earlier argument, and the underlying suspicion about Buck's feelings towards Christopher all boiling over. "If you had been more precise, maybe this wouldn't have happened. That person is hurt worse because of it."
The accusation hung in the air, raw and accusatory. Buck, already reeling from the horrific scene and now feeling the double sting of Eddie's blame and the unfair mischaracterization of his feelings for Christopher, felt a surge of anger and betrayal. "Are you serious, Eddie?? I called it out. You were the one who went off-script. And for the record," Buck added, his voice laced with hurt and defensiveness, "I would never resent Christopher. How could you even think of that?!!"
Their voices rose, the tension palpable even amidst the chaos. Bobby quickly intervened, but the damage was done. The major misunderstanding about Buck's feelings towards Christopher had poisoned the well, making Eddie more prone to blame and Buck more likely to feel unjustly accused. The foundation of their friendship felt shattered, replaced by a bitter resentment and a profound lack of understanding.
End.
so how was it guys? haha (nervous laughter)
