The way at the end of the movie I was crying FOR Clive because his story was such a tragedy and he'll never truly find his happiness. I also find the shutting off of the windows and staring out from the last one scene signifies how he's going deeper into the closet and staring back at his 'freedom'. 💔

the different ways people react to and about the movie maurice (1987) says a lot about someone…… to me it’s truly the real test of media literacy. like what do you mean you hate clive or you think clive is a villain or traitor or prefer maurice ending up with clive instead of alec. like what do you mean. what do you mean you view clive as the villain in the story when truly there’s no villain except the criminalization of homosexuality and the alienation towards queer people in this time period. what do you mean you don’t view clive’s character as a tragedy and a realistic commentary on a gay man of the higher class in early 20th century england who chooses to force himself deeper into the closer to protect his name, image and career….. what do you mean you see him as a selfish villain who cares only about himself when to him, he didn’t understand or accept himself and his sexuality and decided to give up his love for maurice to protect himself (and to him, maurice) when maurice chose to accept himself and his sexuality instead. what do you mean you think clive is better for maurice instead of alec who fought and chased maurice due to his love for him, unlike clive. what do you mean

Happiest 97th bday to the best bl director and screenwriter James Ivory （づ￣3￣）づ╭❤️～

cmbyn and Maurice are two of my all time fav bl movies and i cant thank James enough for those movies and introducing me to the author E M Forster. he has made me so happy. lemme praise him for a while pls. I've been holding it in me for so long.

James won an Oscar for call me by your name for best screenwriting. Currently he is the oldest Oscar holding winner ever.

James is a gay man born in 1923. he will be 97 today!! he was in secret relationship with Ismail merchant for 60 yrs as being gay was crime back then in uk. Ismail merchant was Indian producer. both met outside a theatre in uk. since then both of them adapted lots of movies together. their duo was popularly known as ivory-merchant duo. Ismail passed away 2005.

James and his lover Ismail merchant became famous for adaptations of E M Forster novels. E M Forster was a gay author born in1879. coincidentally e m Forster and James ivory share death anniversary and bday respectively. (ill make another death anniversary post for e m Forster which ill link here). James's popular bl movie was Maurice in 1987. you can also spot soooo many similarities between cmbyn and Maurice since James directed Maurice and was screenwriter in cmbyn.

James ivory did house tour few yrs ago and the only pic he had in his house was of Ismail. i wish Ismail was around to see his love win an Oscar, that too for a bl movie 🥹. his work has inspired so many other movies including few panels in bls like banana fish. i adore James so much <3<3<3

For the people who said its not queerbaiting, have you been following with their interviews and pr? Why on earth would they touch or even mention about 'buddie' if its not something that they're considering on happening?? And also for those who said its not queerbait because Buck is canonically bi, if the ship is queer and they're being suggestive about it, its queerbait. But overall this season has been such a mess even before Bobby's death.
