we lost the plot on “slur reclamation” the second people started boldly claiming once they personally reclaim one nobody else is allowed to have negative feelings about it. speaking as a self identified faggot i wouldn’t go around telling people faggot isn’t a slur just because i like to call myself one..and yet in 2024 we’re still seeing people raked over the coals for saying “call yourself whatever you want but i don’t want to be called queer” like where is the basic respect. childish behavior.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, to listen to doctors and get my flu vaccine and any shots i could because they remembered Before.
then they started fighting Covid precautions.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that the ozone was disappearing and the earth was dying and we needed to recycle and save the planet.
now my parents think climate change is a myth.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that racism was a plague, that we had to love and accept everyone, that we should never judge before walking a mile in their shoes.
then they told me that protesting for my Black siblings was wrong.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that we needed to give to the poor. working at soup kitchens. making quilts. collecting food and money and supplies. building houses. because it was the christian and just plain right thing to do.
now they look at me, on food stamps with their grandchildren, and lament the "welfare state".
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and that any rich man, especially an immoral one, should never run our country.
you can guess who they voted for.
i remember adults telling me, as a kid, so very much.
My contact in Ghazzah, Mona, has read all your messages! And she wants to send you guys a message back. For those who don't remember, Mona risked her life and was nearly hit by an airstrike along with her brothers while distributing aid that we provided donations for. I asked you all to send her messages my way, either in my inbox specifying it was for her, or in the notes and replies of that post. Every single message I received addressed to her I sent it her way. She finally had a chance to read them and respond today (leaving a screenshot below the cut). She responded:
"💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
You can't imagine how much these messages made me happy.
Thank you for your involvement / participation and to all the kind / sweet people for their messages.
They gave me motivation to continue despite the destruction and everything.
Thank you thank you, from my whole heart."
Thank you so much to you all for reminding Mona and her family how important they are; that they haven't been forgotten and that they're in the hearts and minds of thousands. I'm honestly crying I can't believe the difference we've collectively managed to make in the lives of people in Ghazzah and I'm honestly so proud.
Remember to donate if you have any spare money, even a dollar goes a long way:
G*f*ndme for the distribution of basic necessities in Ghazzah.
P*ypal for the same thing.
G*f*ndme to help Mona and her family leave Ghazzah. (only 6k from goal!!!)

Every time I'm busy all the theaters are playing those made up artsy movies that insecure people talk about to make fun of "film snobs" that just end up sounding really cool and whenever I'm free it's all shit like a Winnie the Pooh Slasher Movie and a Goonies reboot
Just wanted to pop in and say I have been noticing a lot of younger people say you are the one who has changed their minds on censorship and "problematic" content in fiction and I want to thank you for it.
It's becoming a huge issue in fandom spaces that people are morally judging others for fiction and it is scary to see, especially because a lot of the younger people are queer and are parroting the same rhetoric conservatives do about queer fiction. Having someone like you speaking out against it and standing by your convictions is an amazing help in stopping these communities from becoming depressing witch hunts for those who are deemed "freaks". And us freaks appreciate it a lot 💖
