Its the fourth of july, and i know this is a hard time for a lot of people with moral ocd or adjacent feelings, so in case anyone needs to hear it: feeling festive or patriotic isnt the same thing as nationalism. You arent a bad person if youre getting roped into family gatherings and celebrations you didnt want to attend. Youre not a bad person if you enjoy fireworks or community or whatever today means for you. Youre not a bad person if you want to celebrate what you were promised this country was supposed to represent. It doesnt mean you like the government, it doesnt mean you like colonialism, it means you like the concept of freedom and wish it actually existed here. Using the day to celebrate the concept of hope and resistance isnt a bad thing. Youre doing ok. Take care of yourself today. Dont forget to drink plenty of water and stay safe from the heat and sun if youre going to be outside

But then after harping on how intersex oppression, intersex people being coercively assigned dyadic/binary sexes/genders because obviously being intersex is unacceptable and needs to be corrected, our coercive sex/gender reassignment somehow proves that sex/gender can be electively reassigned, as if coercion and assimilation isnt THE point here, like this is an expression of flexibility rather than violent control, they have the nerve to say that our intersexuality, which they were advocating to correct just a minute ago, somehow proves that gender is a spectrum as well. To be clear, gender is a spectrum, but sex being a spectrum isnt why. Because believe it or not. Sex and gender are different things. I thought this was like the most elementary concept. They call everything remotely intersex-related nonbinary, because they refuse to let intersexuality have any visibility, but theyre so desperate to drag us down theyre dragging themselves down with us. Why. Why not just. Not do this. What did we do to you
Im intersex and therian. Its so frustrating that im always the example of people who dont deserve rights that trans rights are always juxtaposed to. Intersex people get coercive surgeries and hormones, so trans people should get consensual surgeries and hormones. People are more than willing to coercively socially assign a binary gender to an intersex person who doesnt have all of the corresponding chromosomes, anatomy, etc (while seeing us as an intrinsic failure of that gender we’re socially required to perform), so people should be willing to see trans people as genders their sex doesnt correspond to. Do they seriously think those are the same thing? At least im not asking anyone to respect my species haha am i right

"ohh my god you can't just-"
Am I yours to command? Does the collar 'round my neck have your name on it? I kneel to no king nor god, and I see no crown on you.

When it comes to Mermaids, assuming they are a branching path in human evolution (so say they evolved after they were already early humanoids...kinda like whales used to be land creatures), where do you think it would make the most sense anatomically for gills to be? (I'm going to send a atheistic poll too don't worry):
Somewhere on the face, replacing the nose
Somewhere on the face, not replacing the nose
Somewhere on the neck (near the esophagus)
Somewhere on the front/side of chest (near the lungs)
Somewhere on the back
Some sort of internal gills/just their nose
A spot not mentioned here
I'm not sure/nuance/results
A long while ago I was writing a story with mermaids in it, and got a little too hung up on where I'd put their gills 😅😅 I'm curious what everyone else thinks!

i like the phrases "it's not for me," "it's not my thing," and "i'm not the target audience" because they're the most concise way to express "this thing that you enjoy has merits but idgaf about it" without being aggressive
