to help us secure this data before the loss, you can help us archive these pages. instructions below:

download the internet archive web extension here for chromium and here for firefox

once installed, go into the options here, and go to "general"

3. check mark "auto save page" and change the drop down below to "within last 30 days" or "within last 7 days"

4. click through all the pages you can on cdc.gov and hhs.gov. the extension will automatically archive any pages that have been missed by others as we all scramble to save this data

Honestly debating closing my asks these bots are getting out of hand, and I don't even get enough real asks to make it up.

The bots would probably stop after the war is over so I'd probably reopen them then.

Also, don't misinterpret this, I do support Gaza in the war, but these are obviously bots made from people trying to take advantage of a bad situation, and even if a few are genuine I can't take that risk.

This is what bots do, they take money from the less fortunate until nobody trusts them at all, and move on to the next scam. But then the damage is done, and nobody trusts those actually asking for help.

The same is happening with those bots and scammers on discord posing as artists looking for commissions. Now I don't trust any dms I get even if they look innocent.

This is a big issue. But unless there's some solution I'm not seeing, I'm closing asks on all my accounts until further notice.

What to do if you suddenly find yourself homeless

FOOD

Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food

grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread

different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.

some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit

SHELTER

Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment

sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it

Some churches offer short term residence

Find your nearest homeless shelter

Look for places that are open to the public

A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry

HYGIENE

A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.

Public libraries have bathrooms you can use

Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.

Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver

Local beaches, go for a quick swim

Some truck stops have showers you can pay for

Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet
