"You can say that again." Lily commented looking over at Dorcas with a small smile before taking out her wand and casting a quick Hot-Air charm around Dorcas' figure. It was fairly temporary, just streams of warm air but she hoped it would ease some of Dorcas' coolness. "We have magic for a reason, y'know." she teased. 

10th December, 1979 ♣ Dorcas & Lily

"Fucking weather." She muttered under her breath as she made way towards the castle, her arms wrapped around herself as she attempted to shelter her skin from the biting wind.

"Why? Scared that no one's interested in kissing you, Miss Black?"

Hogwarts || Dec 6th

"There’s mistletoe over almost every doorway in the castle! I just think it’s way too much!"

     Why the bloody fuck did James Potter act the way he did? It was maddening and although she tried to not think about it, it was practically an unavoidable thing to think about. Remus was wonderful, Sirius was usually ... alright. Peter was decent. They all gravitated towards him, James, their leader. Why? Why? Even though Lily had had the idle hope before that after she had calmed down that they would be able to have a normal conversation, it was now gone. 

     "Tell me, do you r e a l l y expect to gain my affections -- Christ I sound like a Jane Austen novel -- by saying things like that? DO you realize that's it's not only rude to say -- but also it makes me a tad uncomfortable? In fact, do you even think before you say those sort of things? Actually, I don't even think you need to answer that. It's no. Always no. " 

    "Anyways, don't you have some Slytherins to hex and bully? You've not met your quota lately. Should I be concerned that you've become a pervert instead?"

Clean Up || November 29

"That’s just how I happen to walk," James reasons, though a little smirk is beginning to tug at the corner of his lips. "I might sometimes gallivant as well, but in this case I was only trying to get myself cleaned up.” He shrugs, and with a wave of his wand and a muttered spell vanishes the mud he’d traipsed in, leaving the floor clean and sparkling. He can only hope Lily doesn’t call him out on the fact that he could have just as easily done the same to his shirt while still wearing it.

But really, what would have been the fun in that?

"Oh, I much prefer the idea of you taking off your muddy one and wandering the corridors," James quips, his usual mischievous smirk making a triumphant return.

M O R A L ❁ A L I G N M E N T

A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to  act. She combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. She tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment when it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest. 

P H I L O S O P H Y 

Lawful good is the philosophy that goodness is best achieved through law and order. It is a philosophy of altruistic collectivism. This philosophy holds that people should behave altruistically and put the needs of the group ahead of individual desires. Lawful good can also be associated with rule utilitarianism and ethical altruism.

M Y ❁ O P I N I O N

I took this test twice, because originally, I did not agree with this. I actually felt that Lily rather fit into the Neutral Good category which you can see below was a category she barely missed.

" These characters value life and freedom above all else, and despise those who would deprive others of them. Neutral good characters sometimes find themselves forced to work beyond the law, yet for the law, and the greater good of the people. They are not vicious or vindictive, but are people driven to right injustice. Neutral good characters always attempt to work within the law whenever possible, however. "

While I still do believe she could also be Neutral Good -- I see why she is Lawful Good. She isn't as rigid as some people within the alignment, but she is definitely very very passionate about her need to help. Lily's mom often comments to her that she "can't save the world" and she has definitely ticked on something. It isn't that Lily wants to save everyone and cries for those she cannot, it's that Lily is passionate about it and willing to take a stand. Publicly and aggressively if need be. Dogmatic. The lines between good and evil are not blurred at all in her eyes -- and she is unwilling to bend her views on what is or isn't in each category. It's the fact that Lily tries to live by these principles and believes in them, even if her actions don't indicate it so. Another thing is, she would never want to be described as Neutral in this political climate. She will fight for blood equality, and has never really felt she could fight it in any other way besides with her wand. At least, now, and especially after the incident with Severus. There's the thought in her head that maybe, if she had pushed harder, he wouldn't be where he is -- but ultimately he chose his path, and she'd rather have him choose the side of good because he wants to, not because she urged him to do so.

This reasoning is an example why Lily fitting into the Lawful Good category would not necessarily work. Many Lawful Good characters believe in rehabilitation or attempting to rehabilitate their immoral or lawbreaking friend and while Lily will nag, and try to help the best she can -- she will let go and give up if she believes they are too far gone. The idea of completely rehabilitating someone who has already done some evil or law breaking doesn't always feel like it's her place. It's a nice concept, truly, but not really worth it most of the time in her opinion.

     [ Lily let out a snort like laugh when he mentioned his mother's disciplinary ways. It was due to the fact that she was shocked and caught off guard, maybe even slightly uncomfortable. Not laughing at him, not one bit. ] My mother would have had a bloody coronary if she just heard what you said. My father, not so much. See, my mother was never much of a negotiator either but -- from what I've seen of other mum's that's how it seems to be. 

     I really don't think I'd feel comfortable doing that to my child, using the belt. At all.

I’m not familiar with the use of bargaining among mothers. My mother was actually more fond of the method that she would call, “You listen or your father will get the belt.” She’s never been one for too many bargaining tools when it comes to discipline. Can’t say I blame her. She did have to deal with raising two pain-in-the-arse boys.

★ -- [ Lily had always been a perceptive person, mostly because she payed attention. She payed attention to people and how they ticked and Sirius was no exception. With all the special attention she seemed to get from the self styled Marauders, it was really impossible not to. Who, realistically, would be alright after not only a howler and all the pureblood propaganda shoved down his throat with a silver spoon? No one. Not even the great Sirius Black would be. It didn't matter that he was out, no, he was still getting flack. It took a strength to stand up for what you believed to the extent that he did. The redhead would never pity him, no, she'd still call him out if need be and yes, be sympathetic. But p i t y? She only pitied one person and they weren't in front her. Even then, she held more contempt for that person anyways. ] 

     I'll let you in on a little secret, Sirius -- I get laughed at on a daily basis if you hadn't noticed -- at least now I'll be giving people a real reason to.  And I'll be able to get a good vocal exercise for the next time I have to yell at your boyfriend for being magnificently pigheaded. Plus, it'll release stress. 

     ( It was all right, he’d say, really, it was. But he couldn’t reassure Lily Evans that his life was fine. It all seemed a hopeless and wasteful expense. He .. hurt in ways no one really could understand. And he didn’t want someone to understand, because then they’d feel like he did. Sirius wanted no pity, either. He was FINE. Fine. He was so fine. And no, there was no malice or ill intent in his words.. he was simply repeating his mother’s vile phrases. Words he hoped Regulus would keep out of his mouth. He’d hate if his brother parroted what she said. Sirius wouldn’t have left if he agreed with her. )

   » ♕ « —— I really don’t think it’s going to make any difference. Then everyone will laugh at you. But if you want to have a go, then by all means.. I’ll hand it off to you next time. It’s all yours.

     [ It was the slam of a book that jolted Lily Evans from the trance like state she was in. Studying. While Lily was quite possibly the best student in her year, studying took a toll on her at times. Sitting in the library hours on end, hoping the words in front of her would hopefully make some sort of sense. Lily was good at Transfiguration in theory but certainly not in practice which inevitably hung over her head while she tried to work. She needed a break, or to just burn the bloody book that was driving her i n s a n e. If she couldn't do this stupid Transfiguration coursework, she might as well help someone else. That someone else she was about to offer her help to? Rabastan Lestrange -- someone she only knew by name. His repuation preceeded him though, at least his brother's did, and while she knew it was not fair to judge someone based on their family as well as their house -- the Slytherin tie was something she was very very aware of -- she still did. Family was family, and while she hoped she wasn't likened to Petunia ever, they were still sisters. That counted for something. ]

                              ❝ Would you like some help?❞

     [ Lily raised her eyebrows and crossed her arms, sitting back in her chair. It indicated that she wasn't quite comfortable doing so, but would anyway. She hadn't even realized that they were sitting at the same table. Either he was sneaky or she really had been engrossed in her work. ]

     The words on the page twisted together and formed incoherent sentences that he      could just barely grasp the meaning of. This grade was quite possibly one of the      most important of the year and he couldn’t even understand the damned subject      of History of Magic. If his temperament wasn’t exposed as it was in the library,      Rabastan may have thrown the textbook he was attempting to read across the      room. Instead he succumbed to the only thing he knew how to do in a public      area       slam the thing down on the table and press a palm to his head.

                                            ❝     Fuck,❞ was all that he was really capable of saying.

     "I don't really care if we did or not, It's not like I'm so off the beaten path, you realize? You sort of, I don't know, strut everywhere else you go. There's not much of a difference between strutting and gallivanting. " Lily rolled her eyes at James for what felt like the millionth time she had in their school career and sighed. At this rate, her eyes would surely end up sticking that way. "Thank you." It was a reluctant thank you, but a thank you nonethless.

     Lily took a deep breath. It was obvious that she was being too harsh and at that point she finally realized it. James, no matter what he did, was one of the only people (if not the only person) who could rile her up by simply breathing. Looking at his grin, which seemed to be genuine, caught her off guard and her expression softened from the pointed one it was before. 

     " --I'm not sure why you can't, though. That's sort of sports 101, right? I don't know, if I played Quidditch, I'd carry a spare shirt with me. Definitely. "

Clean Up || November 29

"I thought we’d covered this?" James asks, his lips still pulled into that smug little smirk. "I’m not gallivanting, I’m trying not to make an even bigger mess. But if it bothers you.." he shrugs, and slowly pulls on his shirt, deliberately flexing his muscles as he does.

"I am cleaning it, Evans. With a spell, because believe it or not I could figure that out on my own,” he rolls his eyes, but his tone is playful. He still feels like he has a head-rush from catching Lily looking at him. “And I apologize for not constantly walking around with a spare shirt, but if I did we wouldn’t be having this simply charming conversation. So I, for one, couldn’t be happier for overlooking it.” He grins - a genuine, eye-sparkling, couldn’t-be-happier grin, and the difference between that and his smug one of earlier couldn’t be more apparent.

It's not an abuse of power, dear Ted. Mothers bargain with their children all the time. While, I'm not their mother -- would you call that an abuse of power over her children?

Plus, they're getting chocolate. It's a kindness, really.

Bargaining tools? So, that’s how you get the little ones to calm down? A bit of an abuse of power, don’t you think?

         Lily's sly smile cracked into an opened mouthed one. She couldn't help it, Mary was always able to make her laugh. " It's amazing you know me so well, I look forward to it. I'll be counting on that lip balm." The ginger stuck her tongue out at her friend quickly before nodding in response to Mary.

          "Yes, plant related puns are an acquired taste. But, I'm guessing it gets her to laugh I mean, it's sort of a harmless joke. Except, if it's mean against the plants at times." Once again, Lily giggled at Mary's response. "I know, I know, I am the p a t r o n  s a i n t of killing fun. Ask anyone." she quipped. 

         "It wouldn't, that's true..." she mused as she watched Mary go under the mistletoe. "It was suspenseful and probably the most suspenseful thing to happen to me all week -- even after waiting for my test grade for Transfiguration. -- That's what I told him! He's usually so serious too, and being an ex-marine, he thought he could handle it. A little limbo. Oh, how he was wrong. So, so wrong. " Lily then followed after Mary, slightly eyeing the mistletoe hoping it wasn't pulling a fast one them -- there was a chance it had a mind of it's own, really. This was Hogwarts. Anything could happen, and almost everything was magical.

While she knew about Remus' furry little problem, she tried to treat him like the human he was first which included asking how he was without just assuming it was related to him being a werewolf."Luckily for you my fellow chocolate loving friend, I've got just thing thing to ease your suffering. Just a bit. "

"Lily, we’re in the same house; you can’t deduct points from me after I—never mind," he tried to scowl, his mood lightened by her teasing as he caught the handkerchief.  

He leaned in close to her, dropping his teasing demeanor and whispered in her ear.  ”Full moon. Three days,” he pulled back.  ”I just need my tea to cope, Evans.”
