The Fortifications of Meinstadt
Tumblr media
(1) A full view of the white walls of Meinstadt. Folk-wisdom holds these walls weren't originally white, but a dark grey. According to this tale, the walls only appear white as they were polished so meticulously over the last five centuries of peace that the once grey stone now shines white. Historical records however disprove this myth; the walls were built primarily with diorite mined in Margamerie and thus already white before the five centuries of polishing.

(2) In the south and centre the wall was built upon a series of hillstops and cliffsides which forced the wall to take many turns and greatly raised the cost of construction but also made it nigh impossible to breach the southern two-thirds of the wall.
Tumblr media
(3) The northern part of the wall however is built on mostly flat land. Unsuprisingly, of the twenty-two sieges since the outer wall's construction, the only successful one breached this section of the wall.
Tumblr media
(4) The main gate of Meinstadt, known simply as the Lilientor. As there is not even an auxiliary gate in the southern part of the wall all traffic in and out of Meinstadt goes through here, making it one of the busiest places in the city.
Tumblr media
(5) On the southern end of the wall stands the Zitadelle, an ancient fortress, already old when the first histories were written. The tunnels of the Zitadelle extend far into the Luna-Penisula, suggesting the fortress may originally have extended much further east. During the last four-houndred years the fortress fell into disrepair as peace made maintaining it an unnecessary expenditure for the crown, until the Zitadelle was re-purposed to be used by the city-guard to use as a prison and headquarters.
Tumblr media
(6) The courtyard of the Zitadelle. The cells where prisoners are kept are in the wall of the courtyard, as well as inside the hill.
Tumblr media
(7) The keep of the Zitadelle from another angle. In there are the headquarters.
Tumblr media
(8) The Birkiller Turm. Situated upon the Birkill, the tower overlooks the approaches of Meinstadt and the Landtal to its east. In less peaceful times long past, the tower's watchmen would alarm the inhabitants of Meinstadt of approaching armies by lighting a blue flame atop the tower, but much like the Zitadelle it has fallen into disrepair, yet unlike the Zitadelle it has yet to find a new purpose.

Lastly, a map of Meinstadt with the location of the builds marked in.

A couple of recent-ish builds from the Meinstadt Harbour.
Tumblr media
(1) The headquarters of the Meinstadt Geographic Society. Their building opens away from the harbour as the headquaters are located there for prestige, not functionality.
Tumblr media
(2) A warehouse, with the port-authorities' offices in the upper floors. Their old offices were located just across the Alte Bracke, but were torn down to make space for the new palace of the royal family. Hence, the port-authorities had to relocate, but as there wasn't a proper building near the port lined up, the temporary solution was just to stick them into a warehouse, and nothing is as permanent as a temporary solution.
Tumblr media
(3) A small fisherman's house, nestled in between the Orchideenbrücke and the outer harbour. There were plans by the city government to forcefully purchase this building and relocate the port-authorities' offices here, but it failed due to insufficient backing within the city council.

Lastly, a map of Meinstadt with the location of the buildings marked in it.
