rereading Georgette Heyer’s hilarious False Colours to get myself in the mood to write the Sheffield Dinner chapters (I’ve realized now that there have to be two separate chapters about the dinner)

Thousands of people have gathered today in the Market Square of Gernika (Bizkaia) - the same place that was bombed by nazis in 1937 - to show support to Gazan people and condemn that what Israel is doing to them is what nazis did to Basque people way back then.

anyway the key takeaway for those not yet radicalised, here, is that the architects of genocide will come to you with claims of opposing hatred, with claims of humanitarianism, with narratives that don't simply accuse the Enemy of being subhuman and needing extermination, but of the Enemy being the real perpetrators of oppression and genocide.
the reality is that a simple 'opposition to hatred and oppression' will not save you from supporting and abetting genocide. you need more than that, because you will be presented with arguments built specifically to prey on your kneejerk credulity for, and backing of, the 'victims' of oppression. what you will need is historical, material analysis of the forces at play and their histories. you will need to really ask yourself if the information you're receiving - even if it is an overwhelming and seemingly uncontested information - is coming from an interested party.
and you will find that there exists no disinterested party, that there exists no impartiality, there only exists the sides of genuine oppressors and genuinely oppressed. you will strip away the rhetoric and find that one of those groups consistently sits on one side of a fifth-generation fighter-bomber aircraft, and one sits on the other.

I randomly got two new commenters on PD within a week of each other after having basically forgotten the story and now I’m trying to reread it and… the first few chapters… gahhh I want to redo them completely!!! At the very least, I think I’ll edit them a bit (nothing major, just catching missed punctuation marks and wanting to rephrase a few things). But it’s slow going bc I def prefer the middle/later bits to the beginning. Which makes sense I suppose, since I was writing it as I went along and only had a very vague idea of the story as a whole at the beginning

names not numbers

The Palestinian Ministry of Health released a report on Thursday, including the names of more than seven thousand Palestinians who were martyred in the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.
Red color highlights 0-4 years old age group
Green color highlights age group 5-17
White color highlights the age group between 18 and 59 years old
Gray color highlights the age group over 60
These are not just names, but people killed in the midst of a brutal war. Remember their names.

Outlines, my beloveds. Totally relate on needing to have the outline down before writing at the risk of losing the whole thread. Always fascinating to hear ab someone else’s writing process, and good luck w your WIPs!
🎶🌞🦅 — for the ask game!
Hi! Ty so much for the ask! Related to this post
🎶 - sometimes I listen to music when I write, but since I'm not a native speaker, it often messes with my focus, but tend to draw a lot inspiration out of music, that's for sure!
🌞 - I don't have a specific time, usually I write when I'm inspired. Sometimes I can't sleep because I have to get it out, but mostly I write on my days off.
🦅 - I do outline my fics! Especially the multi-chapter ones. I go in order and write chronological. One time I didn't, and it messed me up so hard I almost tossed the thing aside (Glass Houses), so not doing that again 😅. Only with the help from my lovely friend @secretlibraryoj I got back on track 💜
Again; thank you, I very much enjoyed answering! ♥️

Haha, music inserting itself into a story is def smth I’m familiar with. I tend to listen to quieter songs/soundtracks when I write for that very reason. Glad to know I’m not the only one who has trouble focusing on the writing when music is playing. Good luck w your WIPs!
🦅🌞🎶 — for the ask game!
🦅 So when I started writing fic it was completely flying by the seat of my pants. And then I hit a point where I didn’t know what to do with one of my WIP because I hadn’t planned a thing. So now I outline the chapters (basically just a small summary of what I want to happen in each chapter) - my current WIP, the Grand Tour AU is totally outlined. I find that I like to have some plan more than having no plan
🌞 I don’t actually. I write when I am able which recently has been never😅 But mostly I write at night after I have finished studying for the day but any time is a good time for writing for me
🎶 I listen to music while I study but I can’t listen to music while I write (because my mind starts to slip for scenes that fit the music) but recently I have been playing midnights by Taylor Swift on repeat
Ty for the ask this was fun!

Always interesting to hear ab the writing process of another writer! I like the idea of ‘mile markers,’ as you put it. Gives you freedom in between while still providing guidance to the process overall, I’d imagine.
Good luck w your WIPs!
🦅🌞🎶 — for the ask game!
🦅 I'm kind of somewhere in the middle. And it varies from fic to fic, as well. Though, for most of them I have at least a general idea of where it's going. And I also have a ridiculous tendency to write random scenes I'm nowhere near ready for. Almost all of my Scrivener projects have a folder called "future scenes". But, while I usually have like "mile narkers" that I'm writing towards, I don't always have a clear idea of how to get there. Probably the most actually planned out is Let's Run Away Together. I pretty much know exactly what I'm doing for the rest of it, to the point that I'm actually seriously considering entering a total number of chapters and getting rid of the question mark.
🌞 My work schedule is kind of erratic. Some days I work 6am to 2pm, and others I work 1pm to 9pm. So, the time of day I write fluctuates along with it. Early work days, I write in the late afternoon, after work. While on late days, I write in the morning, before work. That said, I PREFER to write in the mornings, simply because most days I'm mentally fried after work and can have a hard time getting up the energy to write.
🎶 The only time I am not listening to music is when I'm in my car. I can't even SLEEP in silence. But, as for specifically listening while writing, definitely. Music is great for helping me set the mood. Some examples: I wrote the first chapter of Ruined to Damn by LeAnn Rimes. Don't Leave was written to When I Look At You by Miley Cyrus. Obviously the first chapter of The Art Of Matchmaking was written to Home Alone Tonight by Luke Bryan. I wrote the chapter of The Doctor Who Loved Me called "Spontaneous Combustion" to Love Thy Will Be Done by Martika. Other songs from my Kathony pkaylist that I've been known to put on repeat for days at a time, and therefore have definitely written to just by default are I Wanna Know What Love Is by Foreigner, Give Your Heart A Break by Demi Lovato, and All I Need by Jack Wagner (which is going to be the song used for my first fanvid, once I finish separating out scenes. I'm probably about a 3rd of the way finished with it.)
These were probably all way more detailed and... verbose than you were expecting. I'm sorry. I can be a wordy bitch, sometimes...

Am I keeping you up at night?/Keeping you up at night?/I'll never let you be, no
Are you thinking of me when you're with somebody else?/Do you talk to me when you're talking to yourself?
I love you, Carly Rae Jepsen. Queen of my heart. She knows how to craft an earworm, I’ll tell ya that for free.
This def fits Kathony pre-relationship, post-acknowledgment of feelings. (But only to themselves, not to the other.) It’s giving modern AU where they’re exes who run into each other and keep running into each other and can’t seem to stop running into each other and — oh, no. I can’t afford any more ideas.
🌷you must know — a kathony playlist🕯️
