In light of the Panera lemonade thing, I feel like now is a good time to remind people that caffeine has an effective dose that is much closer to overdose amounts than most other drugs (including illegal and heavily stigmatized drugs), that caffeine overdoses are both common and under-reported, that not being able to get through a single day without a drug that was not prescribed to treat a medical condition is not normal, and that the sort of capitalist grind culture that normalizes all of this is bad, actually.

Caffeine headaches are a withdrawal symptom. If you get caffeine headaches when you don't get your coffee fix, you are addicted to caffeine.

Heart palpitations and feelings of impending doom are overdose symptoms, and tolerance can vary enough due to external factors that a high level of caffeine that's fine for you one day could be dangerous for you on another. If you get "panic attacks" and if you regularly drink more than one cup of coffee per day, tell your doctor about your caffeine habits, because those panic attacks may be misdiagnosed caffeine overdoses.

I'm not anti-caffeine – in fact, I'm not anti- any drug. I think adults can make informed choices about their own health, and I think that they should be allowed to do so. But the key to that is the informed part, and an awful lot of people consume genuinely risky amounts of caffeine without knowing any of the risks. In law school, I polled my friends, and discovered that a shockingly high percentage of them had had what were likely caffeine overdoses without realizing that that was what they were, or that they were dangerous. Having a little bit too much coffee and then spending all afternoon feeling like you're close to having a heart attack isn't an everyday occurrence, and it shouldn't be treated like one! Some of these same friends had abused stimulant medications like adderall and ritalin as productivity aids, and I absolutely guarantee that if they'd had the same level of symptoms from an accidental extra dosing of those drugs, rather than of caffeine, they'd have gone to the hospital. But Starbucks and Panera don't hand out adderall and ritalin, and people don't think that merch about adderall and ritalin dependency is cute or quirky, or that an adderall or ritalin habit is indicative of being a hard worker.

I love a cup o' joe in the morning too, but caffeine is a drug, y'all. Stop treating it like it's not.

I think more people need to talk about Ruffcup. Ruffnuts crush on Hiccup is minimally addressed through the franchise but when you notice it, you NOTICE it.

Yes Im thinking about how not only is Ruffnut passed over by the only boy she seems to genuinely respect/have real affection for but also the girl she was passed over FOR doesnt treat Ruffnut respectfully (theres a whole episode about how Astrid treats the twins badly, yes they reconcile but that was more Tuff and Astrid then Ruff).

homura is one of the characters ever, she's a magical girl, she is neurodivergent and has every mental illness, she's 14, she hasn't slept in 10 years, she flips her hair nearly every time she shows up, she has shot and killed the girl she loves multiple times, she googled how to make a bomb, she can freeze time, she stood outside her crush's window in the middle of the night while holding an alien's corpse, she uses stolen guns, she told one of her friends that she didn't give a damn is she lived or died and then threatened to kill her, she's a stalker, she beat up a metal drum with a golf club, she has relived the same month around 100 times and watched the girl she loves die every time, she threw a bomb up a witch's skirt, she's a lesbian for god, she realised something was wrong with reality because she was happy, has shot herself in the head and lived, she pretty much attempted suicide while on call with one of her friends, she chose to doom herself to eternal suffering to protect her crush, she ripped god in half, she is so in love that she became the devil, she is literally god's favourite, and she has never done anything wrong in her entire life

Yeah, sure, I can kind of see it! It’s the long pectoral fins pointing straight up that convinced me, not to mention the pelvic fin and caudal fin tripod, of course. Wahoo has such small fins (makes sense as this fish is built for speed), but tripod fish has such big fins!

Homura Akemi is Selfless and Here's Why!!!!

I've thought for so long now that Homura did all the sacrifices she did in order for her to BE WITH madoka but actually?

I'm starting to change my mind.

In the anime, when Kyoko asked her what she wanted to do when they killed Walpurgisnacht, all she said was that she's "going to leave the city". Considering her history of sui**de ideology, it was a little unnerving for her to say that. Moreover, she doesn't make any attempts to look redeemable in Madoka's eyes either, which means she has little to no interest in involving herself directly with Madoka even if she survives.

Additionally, when Madoka became a God, she was heartbroken about it, but she ultimately respected her decision, even if she can't feel Madoka there most of the time (so much that she started doubting her memories of madoka). It's why she was so mad in Rebellion and insistent on finding and ending the witch that trapped them in the barrier, because they were "disrespecting Madoka's sacrifice" by existing.

Also, her witch's labyrinth in rebellion revealed that she'd always wanted to have a fun and normal life with all her fellow magical girls, living out their days in perfect harmony with them, not just Madoka. Sayaka and Kyoko who are complete opposites of each other are simply bantering, sayaka herself doesn't seem to hold anything against homura either (which its more than implied that sayaka hated homura in many timelines). Homura had always cared about all of the girls in varying degrees, as she'd always done something to try and save them from their fate, although all of them were futile. But since she had always seen Madoka as the person who cared about her the most, when the other girls started to pose a problem for her safety, she will set them aside in order to prioritise Madoka.

Anyway, when Homura finds out she was experimented on by kyubei in order to one day gain control of Madoka, she curses herself into becoming a witch. When she was saved, she knows that Kyubei are now 100% sure of Madoka's existence and it wont be long before she's controlled.

Homura became a "demon" in order to prevent Kyubei from rendering Madoka's sacrifice useless.

She did do it for love as she claimed, and maybe to an extent, yes, she is controlling madoka, but it is to ensure that she does not endanger herself again. She doesn't even bother making herself look good in their eyes after she's rewritten the timeline, she embodies her role as "the villain" much as she had back in the anime when she ended up looking like a psychopathic weirdo.

TLDR; Homura's main goal is not to Have Madoka, its to Let Madoka Exist, even at her own expense.

And that's how it always has been.
