A queen and her mate look at their newborn kits.

“Hey look, she’ll be good and important,” her mate purrs, resting his paw on the ginger kit.

“Oh no,” the queen says, gesturing to the black kit, “She’s going to be evil or very misunderstood.”

“He’ll be too ambitious,” her mate sighs, looking at the broad-shouldered brown tabby. 

The queen gasps at the gray kit, “He’s either going to be troubled or have terrible luck.”

“This one is very beautiful,” her mate says as he licks the tortoiseshell kit, “Hopefully she doesn’t die in some tragic way.”

“No, that will be this one,” the queen pulls the white kit closer, “What if he’s deaf?”

“At least she’s alright,” her mate taps the cream kit, “Nothing will happen to her.”

“That’s right, she’ll always be in the background,” the queen purrs.

“Actually,” the medicine cat interrupts, “I need an apprentice, so I’ll force her into it.”

“Oh great,” the queen’s mate rolls his eyes, “And then she’ll have a forbidden romance.”
