- Project Title
Know the Locals
- Client
Elle Magazine, Marie Claire, New Yorker Magazine
- Introduction
This project will be based in the Czech Republic through Czech culture and for foreigners who currently live in the Czech Republic can get a more insight of the country. Lifestyle magazines tend to share and write about the current trends in fashion, it’s lifestyle, interior design, advice and recommendations within the country/cities.
- Project Background
Since there might not be an existing client for this project and it’ll be a fictional magazine, most existing magazines are designed about the current trends and fashion related issues within the country, for example, Vogue. There are Vogue magazines all over the world and each of them is designed differently according to the country. Living in Prague for four years, as well as visiting other cities in the Czech Republic and experiencing the local life has made the realization of the cultural differences towards foreigners. When foreigners move to live in the Czech Republic, there is no place other than online to see what’s new to the country.

First week of the last semester of University went by so fast and it’ll only go by faster. This week we were supposed to create two briefs, one relating to the DWR thesis paper and another completely your choice of topic for the final show.
The semester, my mentor is Marie. She gave really good feedback after sharing my two briefs with realistic key points. After the first talk, I ended up making a third brief which is much more clear after getting Marie’s approval.
Therefore, I chose the 3rd brief because it’s focused more on what I want to pursue as a career - working in the Magazines Industry. I love Editorial Design and I would like to get an internship in this field.

“Where do your online returns go?“
Clothes being ordered online, being shipped to you and then when you’re not satisfied, you return it with free returns and free shipping. Most of these clothes you return actually ends up in the landfill.
How can you change it? This system?
- created an app where instead you mail back to the companies, but to someone who might want or need it.

Speculative Design is a term that describes methods that propose alternative visions. It can enable divergence between context, beliefs, and methods due to relating to ‘reality’ while giving space to others to imagine the possibilities

Visited a last-minute second-hand pop-up in Prague 7. It inspired me about second-hand clothing, how you can sell such a cheap price for good use with someone else!

Bamboo plants can grow up to four feet a day. They release up to 35% more oxygen in the air than compared to other trees of the same size. Bamboo grows within seven years and it does not need to be replanted due to its vast root network that continuously sprout new shoots. It helps improve soil conditions and prevent soil erosion. Bamboo fabric is softer than cotton, the texture is more like silk.
