I feel fandom would get along a lot better if there was mutual understanding that liking a character, agreeing with a character, and thinking the character is well constructed/executed are all separate (if often overlapping) positions, each with their separate tastes and subjectivities. Also: character portrayals are intended to make the audience feel things; this is separate from (if often overlapping with) analyzing/appreciating their actions and role in the story.

I know a lot of people try to pick Bix or Jyn but... I feel like these two would've been friends if they had met. Totally teaming up to tease/defend Cassian for sure.

I fully agree, anon! I'm not sure why we'd ever have to pick. You're all aware we can like more than one female characters? Nobody is trying to pick between Vel or Jyn for example, and we all know why, the common thread here is Cassian. I love him so so much, but it's kind of insulting that we're reducing the women in his life to just their relationship with him.

and I think it's especially weird because this isn't a love triangle, Cassian doesn't have a relationship with them at the same time. in fact, by the time we see them in season 1, Bix and Cassian's relationship is already over, they didn't have this huge romance arc or anything. they're exes who obviously do still care for each other, but I think they're both aware that their relationship is over for good, and I never felt like any of them wanted to get back together at any point (and just to clarify, this isn't me saying that they don't care for each other or that you can't ship it, I'm just saying that's how I saw their relationship. I personally don't think there's a future there, but ofc people are welcome to disagree).

so there's literally NO reason to perceive Jyn and Bix as rivals. at all. if anything, I think Bix would be extremely happy for Cassian that he found someone who matches him so well. and yes, I think they would get along well! Bix would tell Jyn so many embarrassing stories of Cassian from his past, and Jyn would be so delighted. Cassian is slightly terrified of them teaming up (as he should be). so this Bix vs. Jyn narrative some people are pushing is really really tiring. it's nearly 2023, stop pitting women against each other!
