The older I get, the more I realize what an anomaly bangladeshi liberation was. A lot of pieces fit together at the perfect time to make it happen. That's no coincidence.... I truly believe that when it gets bad enough and no help is available, that's when Allah sends the most help.
I understand why some other people tend to be more pessimistic, because we all make sense of the world from our own personal experiences.
But I think this current moment is one of those revolutionary times that will stick.
There's something mentally that goes on when you dehumanize people through genocide and then they feel like they have to constantly prove that they are "civilized" enough to live.
Among those arrested in Atlanta today were Noelle McAfee, Chair of the Philosophy Department at Emory University. You can hear her ask the PhD student taking the video:
“Can you call the Philosophy Department office and tell them I’ve been arrested?...I’m Noelle McAfee, I’m Chair of the Philosophy Department”
TWO HOURS AGO: an incredible photo taken by a ut austin student capturing something deeply poetic in my opinion, a line of state troopers eagerly waiting to arrest student protesters standing just behind a sign that reads "what starts here changes the world. its starts with you and what you do each day."
Sometimes I feel like that chicken who baked a loaf of bread, and now all the other farm animals want a piece.
Like I think I went through certain life experiences relatively early and also learned from them (brutally). So now I relate best with 50+ year old ladies who are on the other side of a tough divorce and their kids are off to college. We chit chat and understand each other.
With my own peers I really have to hold my tongue a lot of the times. And I'm rarely able to go to them for any good advice on certain topics.
I think a lot of people underestimate how disillusioned gen z became due to all the school shootings that were going on a few years ago. They were actually living in fear and doing walk outs/protests on their own, with zero response from the government. I only know how deeply it affected them because my sister is in that age group.
Like sandy hook and Parkland both happened to the same age group.... it wasn't a temporary news story for them.
And those are the same exact kids on college campuses today, creating all of these encampments.
Interesting how you can come home from the grocery store, get on social media, and your algorithm will give you recipes catered to the exact ingredients you just bought.
Thanks............ that's perfect......... that's exactly what I was planning on making 🙂
