“You really are another version of my girlfriend and I’m not passed out.” She giggles to herself. “Sorry for being weird.”  

A voice calls out from another part of the apartment. “You want anything to eat? I got a ton of left overs!” Alt. Marie calls out.

“Ah yeah, sure, don’t mind at all!” Marie yells at her other self. “Yeah I am.” She nods. “Its fine. I mean, its a weird concept in general to meet another version of someone you love, that’s completely different.”

A short time later and Marie sees that to these two, leftovers is basically just a full buffet of take out. Still looks pretty good though. 

Marie whistles “Damn this looks good.” she rubs her abdomen. “Where to start…” she hums to herself, pondering her options.

“Take whatever you want. We usually end up throwing a lot of it away after saying we’ll save it so, the more food eaten the better.” Alt. Marie says, filling up her plate. 

“Even though the holidays are weeks away, this feels like a holiday dinner. Only with two versions of my girlfriend instead of family members.” Sayoko adds, giggling.

“You’re welcome miss.” Marie extends her hand and gently grabs Sayoko’s hand. She shakes it. “We were talking about that, funny enough. About why your me lover looks older.”  Marie pauses for a moment. “I hope that didn’t sound confusing.”

“It’s not that confusing… I think. I work in the medical field but it can still be easy to get mixed up on things, so no need to worry about that, my dear. It is odd. You look younger, yet… I feel like you’re a powerful one.” Sayoko says, circling her and looking her up and down. 

“Well I’ve kept honing my powers. I dunno what other me has been doing, but I like to stay on tip-top shape in case anything happens.” Marie says, not minding Sayoko…studying her? maybe? she has no idea.

“Uh, afternoon Miss.” Marie greets, eyeing the woman curiously. ‘Must be the nurse this me is in a relationship with.’ She thought.

“I must say, seeing two of the person you’re dating isn’t… that off putting. You look almost the same as her, yet younger. Lovely to meet you, dear.” Sayoko says, extending a hand out and smiling.

“Oh, you don’t do that?” Marie blinks. “Well, I have nicknames for most of my friends. Gray is the velvet guest that the nose and Margy attend. You helped him too right? with the skill cards?” Marie shrugs. “In any case. Gray went to a part time job at the hospital and mentioned a flirty nurse.”

“It’s like we’re on the same wavelength yet, also not.” Alt. Marie says, scratching her neck. She then jumps a bit after hearing a knock at her door. “O-oh.”

Marie hears the knock. “Uh, were you expecting visit?” she asks “Cause I can leave if you want.”

“No no, this’ll be real quick!” Alt. Marie calls off, running to the door. After a bit of talking, someone else walks in. 

“…why, hello there.”

“If Marie were to come down with some sort of illness, I would first pinpoint the cause of her suffering and act accordingly. For example, if she were to have a fever, I’d find the closest bed for her to rest in and prepare a light, warm meal.”

“…Nurse?” Marie tilts her head. “I don’t know any nurse.” she ponders on it. “…Well I know Gray went to the hospital a few times for a part-time job. I…think he mentioned something about a flirty nurse, I dunno if its that exact nurse. Though I never met her.”

“Well, uh, I don’t know any grays, cept maybe my mom and Margaret... but, probably not who you mean... can I ask how you get your names for people?”

“Oh you stopped making yourself look young, I see. You’re allowing your body to flow naturally. Cool. Not my thing, but cool.”

“Huh, I uh… didn’t expect you to be so chill with me. Are all goddesses this chill and stuff?” Alternate Marie asks, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly.

“I am. I dunno about other Gods, or even alternate versions, but yeah. Its your life, not mine. I live mine, you live yours. I have no right to tell you how to live; and…I don’t want that right. It wouldn’t be a right anyways if I force someone to do something they don’t want to, right?”

“Yeah, guess you’re right. Sorry bout the insult. Lotta self-issues I’m working on. You’re probably as cool or cooler than I am, so you keep doing your thing.” Alternate Marie says, smiling. “Feel free to stop by my place, if you want or whatever sometime. Or don’t.  Might make things weird, but honestly I need that sometimes.” She waves, her own hat in hand before she quickly hides it behind her back.

“With a term like that, you sound like my mother. I hope to god that you aren’t.” 

“Word choice aside, I feel good. I haven’t really dated this seriously in a long term, and it feels good to have a companion. Feels like I’m the one who doesn’t know anything a lot of times, though.” 

“Cradle robbing sounds more like she wanted to steal me for ransome or something. I’m not worth that much, though.”

On a long, rainy night...

Rain can be heard hitting against the window as the dim light of the moon illuminates the apartment. 

“Jeez, it feels so hot. Isn’t summer supposed to be over by now or something?” Marie asked, leaning back on the couch.

“It’s just one of those nights that’s going to go on forever, it seems.” Sayoko says, softly patting her on the back while sitting down next to her. They both look at the laptop open in front of them, and sigh. 

“No harm in giving this question thing a shot then. After all, it’s not like we have much else going on currently.” 

“Bleh. Might as well.” Marie turns her camera on. “Hey tumblr, ask us stuff. or give us something cool to watch. Or read. Anything to make this night go quicker.”
