Gesture, Materiality, Time and Space: Project 2
collaborative project : Ana Moros and Josue  Delgado Cuevas
Based on the text https://elephant.art/lets-rock-why-has-art-taken-a-geological-turn/
In collaboration with Ana Moros and Josue Delgado -Cuevas, I decided to make a video based on the repetition of marks seen in nature using the human body as a tool to mimic those movements. The audio plays an important role ; Not only to give the illusion of the dance like the wave’water, but also to give the viewer the perception of people’s presence in a public space. I was Inspired by Robert Smithson’s “spiral jetty” .

Untitled, 2022
Medium: HP windows 8 laptop and steel.
Size: H: 5’2 , Variable Dimension
For this project I decided to deconstruct a laptop in different parts. Then I attached them in a structure made of steel making a vertical body. Not only to display it next the wall to create balance, but also to get close to the object and be able to see it from both sides. We see a cable still connected to the output in contrast to the other object, which is disconnected.

"Amplification"
materials: glass jars, color spray paint, impression of my mouth donated by my dentist, 12 plaster impressions made out of silicone molds made out off the donated impression.
This sculpture is a model of a snowball effect process. It relates to the art of making art, the art of sharing something to be able to keep it and create some more to be able to create even more of it.

Oolite, drawers, thread
Dimensions Variable
Continuing to collect found objects, I wanted to incorporate these drawers in a different way that typically isn’t arranged. With the process of reconfiguring the drawers, deconstruction came into mind. Usually with the found objects/ furniture we pick up off the side of the street is with the intention to restore it, resell it, or make use of it, however I wanted to flip that concept and instead of giving the object “life”, I decided to destroy them more. Now the semi-functional has become not functional. While machines were used to cut up the drawers, I used the oolite as another tool to further deconstruct the drawers by throwing and bashing it on the different pieces of each drawer. The title “Home” is in reference to not only the domestic but the plaque that belonged to the drawers, which now is part of the oolite, further connecting the two together. The chaos and process is what leads to the result/ aftermath of the piece itself.

13431
Found object (Dollhouse), plaster, house paint, oil paint, food coloring
2ft 8in x 1ft x 2ft 10 1/4 in
The focus of this dollhouse was the idea of restoration. Picked up from the side of the road in my neighborhood, I stripped down the main elements and had used it as a previous piece where I burned, stained, and chipped the presence of a typical dollhouse. In this piece I wanted to bring it back to “life” by giving it the playful dollhouse elements that we ourselves associate this object to. I took away the distress look it previously had and reshaped, rebuilt, repainted and reattached pieces of the dollhouse to connect to its original state. Color was an important aspect as it was based off the plastics pieces that were initially part of the dollhouse. I wanted to keep the colors soft and delicate while still connecting to the idea of childlike play and childhood itself. The plaster casts are small furniture to connect to the idea of a dollhouse as well as mimic the toys that are associated with this object. The casts also create a contrast since they are not “perfect” replicas and the material is seen with trial and error to give a balance to the work. The title of this piece “13431” is the house number to which this dollhouse came from and was left outside of.

Sometimes there was no light
Inspired by a period when I was living in Uganda, I'll bring these memories where the light presented numerous interruptions. Living with numerous candles next to the bed was usual and common. I try to bring closer these memories and I try to construct a bedside table, homemade, as the one that I used to have. On top of it, I present numerous candles, but some of them, are made in plaster through molds. This special candle, has inside wick that allows you to turn it on the candle, but, without the presence of the wax, the candle is consumed very quickly, barely in a few seconds. I present this quick action in conjunction with the objects, which invites us to get closer to understanding what is happening to them. This plaster candle has the same color as the wax candles, making more complicated the difference between them more. I try to present this piece in the most natural way, trying to focus on the material, trying to alter as few as possible these elements, focusing on the meaning, and trying to create a clean and minimalist art piece. This piece also has references in relation to the religion and the altars present in churches, something really common in Uganda. The powerful meaning of the representation of candles through art history and the craft of making candles is also an inspiration to create this piece.
