New chapter! Literally just fluff n’ stuff:

He carefully rubs at the material with the pad of his finger, perilously close to a talon. Astarion tries not to twitch. “It looks old.”

“That’s because it is old. What did I say about holes?”

“It kind of needs a wash.”

Astarion all but throws his hands up. Why did he even bother if he was going to be criticised? “Shrouds aren’t designed to be washed.”

Revenant tilts his head, “Shroud?”

Astarion realises what he just said, shit. “Blanket,” he amends hastily, “I misspoke.”

“As in burial shroud? A thing you bury people in.”

“I misspoke,” he insists, trying not to let his fluster get the better of him, not wholly succeeding, “It’s a - an Elvish word - I meant blanket. Throw. Thing. Do you want it or not?”

It's a headband! A circlet, specifically, it's from her grandmother's line, a symbol of succession within their clan.

A masterclass in bad decision-making, that’s what yesterday was. The one thing he got right is that he was at least sensible enough to stumble back to his own tent after dinner without needing to be shepherded there like a drunk sheep, or worse yet making his way back to Revenant’s. Even though that thought had occurred to him yesterday, but thankfully by that time the blood high had cooled enough that he recognised it for the awful idea it was. The short time he did spend in Revenant’s tent was disastrous enough; not only did his seduction attempt flop, but he ended up being bloody furniture for the tiefling, and he blabbed some thoughts that he really, really should have kept to himself.

He’s meant to be a big bad vampire and big bad vampires don’t ask other people to bite them, do they.

Concepts! +Poll!

Made a concept sheet for Sam, mostly, but also a lil bit about Ego

Sam Guevenne looks a bit different before Martin’s death. After Martin’s death, bc Sanguine is a sad bastard about it, he decides to (somewhat morbidly) honor his ex by taking on some traits of his. Namely, Sam shortens and changes the color/texture of his hair to be mroe like Martin’s, and his tattoos change from thorns to sage leaves (a symbol associated with Martin back in his Sanguinite days). Sam will keep this look until ~4E 202, when he is finally able to move on.

Then there’s also Sam with short hair! At the beginning of SITW, Ego cuts their hair when in Hammerfell bc of how dang hot it is. I’m wondering if they can also convince Sam to do the same? So, just for the fun of it, I drew Sam with short hair.

And lastly, Ego’s teeth. There’s a lovely lovely post by @linda-likes-to-draw that already conceptualized this, but I’ve been thinking more and more about it and wanted to try it out! Context: Ego’s skeleton is fully metal (a type of gold alloy). So, it would make sense that their teeth are metal too, no? We’ll try the look.

Here are some more examples with Ego’s teeth edited to look gold. I need opinions! That’s where the poll comes in.

New chapter! Bit o’ angst, bit o’ nsfw:

“Giving Shadowheart side looks all day? Leaving when you’re normally the first one asking to be healed? Coming to the fight in the first place?” the tiefling reels off easily, while Astarion’s stomach twists. Shit, he didn’t realise Revenant was paying that close attention. “You had to have known that the bulette was one, going to be a hassle to kill and two, wasn’t going to give you good blood either. So why come to a fight you knew would get you thrashed?”

“I didn’t plan to get thrashed,” he points out archly, before twisting the interrogation away from his own failings with a coy smile, “Were you worried about me?”

A scoff, “What sort of question is that. Yes I was worried, you tit. Stop changing the subject. Why were you so insistent?”

What is he supposed to say? Well actually, I didn’t think it’d taste like licking a fisherman’s bladder. Well actually, I wanted to make sure it didn’t turn you into paste because I need you alive. Well actually, I saw you and Shadowheart the other day and I think you’ll start giving her preferential treatment and that I’ve lost your interest already because I’m only good for one night of novelty.
